A Li'l Dab of Drama is a collection of short stories penned by bestselling author LaJill Hunt. The compilation of 4 previously released tales contain an array of entertaining literary gems. From "Repeat Offenders" an emotional novella centered on domestic violence and healing from scars of the past, to "Catch 22" an erotic short about a frustrated young woman in an unfulfilled relationship, tempted to keep it all in the family. The collection demonstrates why readers are fans of LaJill Hunt and her "drama". Also included is a 4 chapter sneak peak of her upcoming new release "Catching Feelings". Love, sex, romance, humor...A Li'l Dab of Drama has a little something for everyone.
LaJill Hunt takes pride in writing entertaining, contemporary fiction with an urban twist, and is the author of several novels and anthologies. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she enjoys reading, writing, reality tv, social media and planning the lives of her daughters who never seem to do as instructed.
LaJill Hunt returns with a collection of previously released short stories that will wet your appetites if you've never read them before, or send you back down memory lane if you have. Luckily for me, it was my first time meeting these characters that I wished would've stayed a little longer.
The anthology started off with "Repeat Offenders," an "I seen this coming" tale that mostly stayed true to its name. Surprisingly enough, I felt for the two main characters and didn't want the story to end. It was a love story that I wish would've lasted a few more chapters so I could fully fulfill my expectations. Never the less, it was a good read.
Next up was "Playing Time." An extremely short read that sky rocketed by with fiery words that left me slightly satisfied by the end.
What started off as a slow start in "The Point of It All" turned into a nice little romantic/erotic read. I loved the message behind the story and felt great comfort in the conclusion, but I wished the author would've informed us the time frame difference between the Prologue and the first chapter. I had to go back to the Prologue to make sure I wasn't tripping or mistaking what I read.
And lastly came the steamy "Catch 22." IF LaJill lacked anything in the first three short stories, she definitely made up for in this one. I was captured from beginning to end in the drama of Sophie's world. Part of me felt bad for cheerleading with her bad side, but being bad could feel oh so good. I felt the twist at the end coming, and laughed hysterically when it was revealed. I imagined Sophie's face and wished I was a fly on the wall to see everything else unfold. This one had to be my fave among the four.
Jilly did a great job and I can't wait for her to release "Catching Feelings."
I realize this was a series of short stories but I was very disappointed in the organization. It was very confusing. I was also disheartened that an author in 2017 would have a character say, "You're retarded." I have purchased every book by this author and was a huge fan.
La Jill Hunt is one of my favorite authors. I only gave this 2 stars because it is only a teaser of several stories. I thought it was going to be short stories that concluded but it is some excerpts from her other books (that I already own and have read). The endings just stopped without any kind of closure.
When I tell you this was a book of everything "Thats So Jilly" It was a fun fast paced book that have me wanting to rush the finished product to the editor. I can't wait to see what Mr. Drew and Sophia have to say about their "little" thing lol is Nick gonna be tied down. I'm so excited and just so happy to get another one from LaJill Hunt. Always a very good read congrats and awesome work
I have the pleasure of calling this author my FRIEND, I have admired her work since Drama Queen. I must say it had been pleasure reading EVERYTHING she had ever written because she NEVER disappoints. This book held the right amount of Drama until I'm patiently seater next masterpiece!!!
