The Revolution continues in The Transformers! Thundercracker and Buster save the World! A White House under siege by Dire Wraiths! Windblade on Earth! And a date with destiny for Krok, Crankcase, Fulcrum, Spinister, and Misfire! Collects The Transformers, More Than Meets The Eye, and Till All Are One Revolution One-Shots plus the 2015 Holiday Special.
The first story was great and is set at thrctimevor Revolutionaries 1 dealing with another Wraith infiltration.
The second story is a good side story of the Revolution storyline. This is the only story Rom was in, but blink and you could miss him. Even though he is on the main cover.
The next 4 stories are really just joke. Cheap thrown together Christmas specials for 4 year olds. These are just fillers. I would happily just had story 1,2 and 6 and not the gag stuff.
This is a case where the tie-ins are better than the actual event. If you love MTMTE or RID you are doing yourself a disservice by skipping the contents of this book, especially the Christmas special!
Collects the Transformers tie-ins with Revolution as well as the 2015 Transformers Holiday Special. The Revolution block has a decent trio of stories, all with very different takes on the event: one treating it like a mildly silly action flick (featuring Thundercracker and company), one very serious story trying to explain the Transformers' connection to the Micronauts, and a third that basically makes fun of the event (but in an affectionate way - I think). Meanwhile, the holiday block is good, clean fun. (One weird note, though - Rom features on the cover but only makes a small cameo.) (B+)
4 stars for Thundercracker and 4 for the Scavengers, especially for Crankcase and his doomed online romance. But the whole volume is chaotic, the stories being rather on the two stars level.
This book, more than any of the other Transformers books, is really kind of a mish-mash of different stories. The first half of the book is a trio of one-shots that fit into the greater Revolution story, though they suffer from the same issue that plagued that collection in that splitting them up across non-chronologically across multiple volumes makes for a very disjointed story. I will literally never say no to more stories with Thundercracker and his dog, but otherwise outside the context of the larger story (the collection of which came out a month ago), they're kind of meh. The More Than Meets the Eye one-shot was amusing, though perhaps a bit TOO on the nose poking fun of crossovers.
The second half of the book finally republishes the Transformers Holiday Special that came out in December 2015, which I hadn't previously read and is absolutely hilarious and amazing and kind of redeems the entire thing (plus it has more of Thundercracker and his dog, which as I alluded to above is one of the best things ever).
2023: I don’t know what 2022 me was thinking, but this entire volume is pretty great actually (minus the Windblade issue perhaps - that was a snorefest). Solid 4 stars.
2022: 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. I love anything that has Thundercracker and Buster, I love the holiday specials, and hell, turns out I love the Scavengers.
