ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 3, 2017

He cheated death once. Can he do it again?

After surviving an explosion deep in the heart of the Guatemalan jungle, Marine Connor Dickson has been left with a supernatural ability—he can detect vampires living among the human population.

With this knowledge comes the realization that there are good and evil among the vampire nation. After witnessing a horrific death at the hands of a vampire, it becomes his own personal mission to police the rogue entities and stop them from harming humans.

He is recruited into Operation Underworld, an organization where their sole purpose is to hunt the criminal entities of paranormal species. His first assignment is to find out why humans are going missing from nightclubs in Los Angeles.

When he meets the beautiful Sami Karim, he discovers they are working on the same missing persons case. As his attraction to her grows, he can’t shake the feeling that she’s hiding many secrets, as well as lying to him.

A shocking twist of events reveals Sami’s true agenda, leaving Connor devastated, fearing for his own safety, and ultimately, forced to face his enemy on his own.

REVIEW: 4.5 stars--A TOUCH OF BLOOD: Connor and Sami is the first book and contribution by Carly Fall in the dual-authored, contemporary, adult OPERATION UNDERWORLD paranormal, romance serial focusing on a secret organization whose members have special abilities to ferret out the supernatural powers. OPERATION UNDERWORLD is a spin off from Carly’s Supernatural Renegades series wherein a secret mission to Guatemala and the resulting explosion left the surviving members of a platoon of US Marines with supernatural powers. Former US Marine explosive specialist Connor Dickson survived only to discover he had the ability to see vampires.

Told from third person point of view (Connor Dickson) A TOUCH OF BLOOD reveals some of the background and premise of the organization known as Operation Underworld-a group of people with specialized abilities to detect those who are not quite human. Following the explosion in the Guatemalan jungle Connor Dickson’s recovery in a Las Vegas hospital found our hero with the uncanny ability to detect the mythical vampire. Enter former US Marine Joe Smith (Supernatural Renegades) who offers Connor a chance to join the organization known as Operation Underworld. What ensues is Connor’s first assignment to find out why humans have gone missing from the nightclubs in LA, and his introduction to Sami Karim, a woman also searching for clues into the missing humans but a woman whose lies and betrayal are not easily forgiven by our story line hero.

A TOUCH OF BLOOD: Connor and Sami is an exciting and intriguing introduction into Carly Fall’s contribution to the Operation Underworld multi-authored serial. The premise is edgy and thrilling; the characters are colorful, dynamic and energetic; the romance is fated and seductive. A TOUCH OF BLOOD is an intense and passionate look at two people thrown together by circumstance, death and the supernatural.

actually a great start to a new series! (at least I think it's the first!)

I grabbed this while it was free at Amazon and it was one of the better freebies I have to be honest!!

As far as "super powers" go Conner really didn't get dealt a good hand. It's great he can tell who's a vamp and if they've fed but what can he do with that info on his own....? Good job he has his explosive marine training behind him but if he had to do a one on one........

.....i guess that would be ever Sami wpuld cone in. But wow did she screw up.

Little bit of a cliff hanger on this one and I need to fix this as I did enjoy this!

It was written well. Good H and h characters. Supporting characters were fun. Harper is going to fun to watch and explore. And Deadu has a crafty, mischievous underlying sense of humour (as demonstrated with Connors alias on his ID!), but she also proves her knowledge to Connors extreme hesitation and doubt.

The story flowed well and (wahey!!) I didn't skim read anywhere, which to me means there was no real lull in the storyline.

One to watch!! Definitely gonna look at the other series too!!

Absorbing and compelling. Connor develops an unusual ability after an explosion that almost kills him. He is recruited to an unusual organization and the fun starts. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters, the relationships and the practical jokes. The foreshadowing told more of the story than it should have but it didn't affect my enjoyment. I will be reading more from this series.

I think I find myself a little bit disappointed with this book. While it was a good book and overall very well written, I feel as though more could have been done with it; fleshed out more I suppose is what I am saying.

When I read the description for this book, I thought this was going to be a really awesome book, and unfortunately, it was just fairly good as suppose to awesome. Maybe I just expected more than what I got. In my opinion, the build up of meeting Connor and him joining up with Operation Underworld, seemed to take up the majority of the book and the actual part of Connor going on his mission and meeting/getting to know Sami, felt like it wasn't the main focus of things, even though it was. This isn't me saying the begin part is to long, more like the rest isn't long enough. To me, the beginning part where we meet Connor and he joins the Operation, is quite well paced, and in comparison, the rest of the book almost feels rushed. I think that you could easily add another 200+ pages to this book just by adding to and dragging out everything that happens to Connor once he reaches LA and meets Sammi. I would have liked the relationship between the two of them to develop a little more slowly, and also for the case that they end up working on play more of a part, as this also seemed to easily solved.

I know this seems quite negative, but on the flip side of this, I liked the authors writing style. It has a good flow to it, that makes for easy reading. She has really good character and world building. I also liked how the characters were written. Everyone had very clear and distinct personalities, that make for a bit of a motley crew.

Overall this is a good book, I just wish it were longer. If I saw the next one cheap or as a freebie (like I think this one was) I would probably get it, but not my most favourite.

Even though the timeline of the story as a whole is like a couple weeks, give or take, it was a slow go for me for most of it. I`m usually all over anything vampire (well supernatural/paranormal/all that goodness) but this just did not seem to be my cup of tea. The writing wasn`t bad and while I liked the characters, Deadu and Harper are quite the duo aren`t they, I just wasn`t so pulled into their lives. I didn`t find myself fully invested in their story. Don`t get me wrong, I finished it to find out what happened with the vampires we were hunting and to find out Sami`s secrets as the summary teases, yet I just was not fully hooked on the story. Although, I do want to see how Sami and Connor react to each other`s biggest secret right at the end there. IDK; I might pick it up at some time, but not a priority at the moment.

Different take on the genre. Lot of times it`s the female that`s human and the male that`s not while also eternally conflicted about his monstrous ways. Also, got quite a few Underworld vibes; especially with the myth and Selene...

Connor Dickson was serving in the Marine corps when his life was forever changed by a mysterious explosion that ended his career. While he was recovering from his injuries, Connor started realizing he could see a red aura around certain people and began to wonder if he didn't have brain damage but as it turns out he discovers the red aura signifies that someone is a vampire! Vampires exist and he has developed the unique ability to detect them. Connor is hired as an operative for Operation Underworld and sent out on assignment to Los Angeles to investigate mass disappearances of humans that seems to involve local vampires. His first night on his new mission, he meets Sami, a mysterious and beautiful woman involved with law enforcement and who knows about vampires. Hesitantly, Connor and Sami team up to work the case together and put an end to the disappearances.

Unfortunately I couldn't find it in me to finish this book. I got about 9 chapters in but it just wasn't gripping me at all.

The writing wasn't bad, there wasn't any glaring mistakes or problems that I couldn't get past, but the story was a little slow paced for me and I kinda felt like it wasn't getting going at all. Nothing really stood out as different or interesting and I found that I was putting off reading it, which told me that I really didn't care if I found out what happened or not. So I gave up.

I can't say it was a bad book but I can say that it wasn't for me.

Amazing read. I was enthralled in the story, build up and relationships that have grown through the novel. The type of lifestyle the main character lived and how everything came together towards the end just made it a very hang on to the edge of your seat want it to end but don't novel. I will definitely be reading the others in this series. I look forward to more action and meetings other characters. To see where this group lrads6...I can't wait!

With an ending like that I'll have to continue on. The descriptions of Connor's Marines has me interested in Carly's 'Supernatural Renegades' series, too. From what I've read, this series is written in part by Carly Fall - following Connor (hunting vampires) and Sami, and Elise Marion -following Mateo (hunting demons) and Melody. I may look into that series as well.

Good start to a new series. The relationship is unresolved, but it's not a cliffhanger, per se. The mystery is solved. Looking forward to learning more about Operation Underworld.
