About the author

Though readers often find themselves inadvertently laughing aloud as they read Anne Fine's novels, as she herself admits, "a lot of my work, even for fairly young readers, raises serious social issues. Growing up is a long and confusing business. I try to show that the battle through the chaos is worthwhile and can, at times, be seen as very funny." In 1994, this unique combination of humour and realism inspired the hit movie MRS. DOUBTFIRE, based on Anne's novel MADAME DOUBTFIRE and starring the late comedic genius Robin Williams.

Anne is best known in her home country, England, as a writer principally for children, but over the years she has also written eight novels for adult readers. Seven of these she describes as black - or sour - comedies, and the first, THE KILLJOY, simply as "dead black". These novels have proved great favourites with reading groups, causing readers to squirm with mingled horror and delight as she peels away the layers in all too familiar family relationships, exposing the tangled threads and conflicts beneath. (It's perhaps not surprising that Anne has openly expressed astonishment at the fact that murder in the domestic setting is not even more common.)

Anne has written more than sixty books for children and young people. Amongst numerous other awards, she is twice winner of both the Carnegie Medal, Britain's most prestigious children's book award, and the Whitbread Award. Twice chosen as Children's Author of the Year in the British Book Awards, Anne Fine was also the first novelist to be honoured as Children's Laureate in the United Kingdom. In 2003, Anne became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and was awarded an OBE. Her work has been translated into forty five languages.

Anne Fine lives in the north of England and has two grown up daughters.

I like this book alot. This book are for them over 8 years old. It was a fast book if you can read. It was a picturebook. And it was a catbook. and the cats family. His human family. It was a girls book. It was about Tuffy ignore the catwatch. His human family are going away for a holiday. But Tuffy want to play woth his cat friends.

A madly funny caper in which a strutting boy cat whose keepers go on holiday, outsmarts the vicar, impersonates a girl cat, charms a child and doesn't miss his own family very much, just their grub.

This is a very short tale with quirky line drawings. Enjoy.

This is a story about a reverend who is ‘cat-sitting’ Tuffy, but as Tuffy doesn’t like the reverend he decides to stay out the house as much as he can, annoying the reverend. Then in an act of confusion the neighbour who was praying for a cat finds Tuffy in clothing and mistook him for a different cat, while the reverend was still looking for him.

I think this was one of the best children’s books I have read, this is because it’s very funny and it’s written in spoken English, it’s not very formal, you can see attitude in the cats behaviour which is great. The ending is also funny with the great misconception at the end, which was cleverly written. Would recommend this book to anyone of any age, this book as able to keep me engaged in the story through its witty lines and would so for children to.

Я ожидала какой-нибудь вариации "Декстер-кот", но оказалось все гораздо круче)
От Декстера тут мало, кроме нескончаемого количества жертв, намеренных и не очень =) Мышка, птичка, кролик, сосед-пастор...

Прочитала за 10 минут, но до сих пор вздыхаю и умиляюсь. Это 60+ страничек кошковости в самом чудном юморном изложении)) Котэ не сюсюкаются. Они прирожденные охотники. Ни за что не будут кушать засохший кошачий корм, они лучше пойдут к соседке и стерпят нацепленный на макушку чепец и катание в детской колясочке, зато будут питаться сливками и тунцом 8)

Обложка — необработанный картон. Приятная такая книжечка, и по форме, и по содержанию. Дневничок ведет непосредственно главный герой (Таффи), легким движением хвоста предлагая нам взглянуть на мир кошачьими глазами. Ленивый, гарфилдоподобный котик себе на уме, он совершенно не понимает, почему его считают котом-убийцей...

I was a big fan of The Diary of the Killer Cat. My son loved it. This second one I found above level and even bordering on inappropriate - comments like "striptease" do not belong in first grade reading (and yes I let my child mispronounce it there was no correction nor clarification on this one). I felt like this one pushed the envelope too much and not being nearly as enjoyable as the first one.

Ritorna il gatto più pestifero, ehm no faccio subito una precisazione, il gatto più pestifero e casinaro ce l'ho io, Ares... ma ritorniamo al libro dicevo, ritorna con tre divertentissime storie, il gatto più casinista del vicinato, Tuffy.
"No Tuffy non ti azzardare" è il mantra ricorrente di quando Tuffy, un gatto pigro, brontolone e allergico alle manifestazioni di affetto della sua padroncina Ellie, si avvicina a qualche piccolo e indifeso animaletto.

“Okay, okay. Ho ucciso io quell’uccello.Per amor del cielo, sono un gatto.
In fondo è il mio lavoro”

In Il grande libro di Gatto Killer avremo la fortuna di conoscere meglio questo pestifero gatto e di scoprire che anche il più burbero del quartiere ha un cuore. Accusato infatti di coniglicidio rimarremo sorpresi nel constatare che in fondo Tuffy, voleva bene al coniglio del suo vicino. Per non parlare poi di Coco... ebbene si anche il gatto attira guai si è innamorato e ha avuto la sua delusione amorosa...


Vi ho convinto a prendere tra le mani questo divertentissimo libro, arricchito da fantastiche illustrazioni di Andrea Musso? Ancora no... ma come fate a trattenervi davanti ad una copertina così carina!
Raccontato in prima persona poi sarà proprio Tuffy a narrarci le sue storie e cosa c'è di meglio che essere partecipi del pensiero di un gatto?

Avendo due gatti infatti mi sono subito divertita ad immaginarmi i loro pensieri soprattutto quando anche io, come Annie, non riesco a trattenermi dallo spupazzarmi Ares, per non parlare di Speedy che visto il pelo morbido l'accarezzerei per ore, peccato che la vera serial killer di casa è proprio la signorina...

Tuffy è il rappresentate per eccellenza del mondo felino: indipendente, dispettoso, giocherellone, astuto ma allo stesso tempo tenero, buffo e dolce, insomma... è un Gatto! E come si fa a non amare questi animali così misteriosi e sorprendenti?
L'autrice, Anna Fine, con la sua scrittura, scorrevole e coinvolgente ci ha permesso di passare qualche tempo in compagnia di un felino molto divertente.


Consiglio questo libro soprattutto ai più piccoli perchè, le storie brevi e le immagini carine ne faciliteranno la lettura ma credetemi... anche io mi sono divertita a leggere le avventure/disavventure di Tuffy!

На просторах всемирной сети их можно встретить практически повсюду: мы умиляемся видеозаписям с ними на YouTube, рассматриваем их фото в Instagram, пишем про них посты в Twitter и Facebook и так далее. Некоторые коты даже становятся интернет-мемами и обретают мировую известность. В литературе тоже есть следы поклонения этому животному, и книгу Энн Файн «Дневник кота-убийцы» вполне можно зачислить в эту категорию.

Произведение выполнено в форме небольшого дневника кота по кличке Таффи, в котором он рассказывает читателям о своих «нелегких» буднях. Стоит заметить, что это в первую очередь детская книга, а потому для неё характерны маленький объем, прямой легкий юмор и обилие картинок, которые, к слову, и занимают большую часть книги. Читается произведение легко, быстро и довольно приятно, так что в общем и целом у писательницы вышло весьма неплохо.

Но есть одно большое и жирное НО: я просто не могла не сравнить эту книгу с «Котом без прикрас» Терри Пратчетта. Что самое печальное – в этом сравнении произведение Файн проигрывает по всем статьям. И дело здесь не в сюжете, объеме, характерах и т.д. Просто в этой истории не хватает самого Пратчетта, его острого стиля, его легкого сарказма и тонкой иронии. Без них книга забудется очень легко, а это значит, что в борьбе за признание читателем Файн, увы, проиграла.

Но в целом книга вполне читабельна, да и объем текста минимальный, так что прочесть её вполне можно.

This is about Tuffy, the cat and main character of the book, and his "hisssterical" life when his owner, Ellie, goes on vacation for a week. This is my 3rd Tuffy book, and I've loved each one.
Tuffy is thinking of all the "magical" things he can do while the family is gone...sleep in the flower beds, and lay on top of the television without anyone complaining about his tail being in the way.
Unfortunately for Tuffy, the usual cat-sitter is unavailable, so the vicar, (Reverend Barnham) "Mr. Fussbudget" is coming instead.
Tuffy finds a way to get out of the house and off he goes to do his best to irritate everyone, including Melanie, the little girl next door who is Ellie's best friend. "Your cat ought to go to prison!".
He really gets into a lot of trouble while his family is on vacation.

Adoro los gatos, como todos sabéis tengo 2 gatos, Capuchina y Pitufo... que vinieron a nosotros en verano, cuando su madre decidió ponerlos en mi puerta un día de lluvia y no pudimos darlos porque nos enamoramos de ellos. Son cariñosos, divertidos y muy trastos jajajaja

Estos libros me han recordado mucho a ellos hajaja. Tenemos un gato llamado Tuffy que parece dirigir una banda de gatos que hacen maldades jajaja o al menos se les acusa de muchas de ellas🤣 Me ha encantado ver como piensa el gato y como lo ven tan diferente a los humanos.

Me he reído mucho con los dos libros y las ilustraciones son fantásticas, reflejan muy bien el humor y la vida gatuna. Son unos libros brillantes para niños y adultos que adoran los gatos

Katten Tuffy är en ganska besvärlig katt. Som de flesta katter har han mycket attityd och han går sina egna vägar, han vägrar att göra vad man säger till honom och han hatar att bli kallad gullig kissemiss.

När Tuffys matte Ellie ska bort på semester så får Tuffy en kattvakt. Och de kommer inte alls överens. Tuffy får inte klösa på möbler eller vara i soffan och han måste äta gammal mat istället för en nyöppnad burk. Det är ju djurplågeri!

Tuffy klättrar upp i ett träd som kattvakten gör till en katapult och WOPS så har Tuffy landat på grannarnas gård. Och grannflickan tror att Tuffy är hennes nya katt, Janet.

Lu avant d'aller dormir parce que j'avais envie d'une histoire mignonne sans prise de tête. J'avais beaucoup ri avec le premier opus du chat assassin, ce tome-ci ne fait pas exception. On retrouve Tuffy dont les maîtres partent en vacances et le confie aux bons soins du pasteur, la voisine Mélanie, amie de sa jeune maîtresse Elie, pourrait bien elle aussi être de la partie.
Entre bouderies, concerts nocturnes, arbre géant, travestissement et usurpation d'identité, Tuffy en fait voir de toutes les couleurs aux humains des environs. Les dessins sont toujours aussi chouettes et l'humour assez piquant.
Pour les amoureux des chats et de petite histoire jeunesse qui détend et donne le sourire.

Una larga semana de descanso es lo que Tufy espera tener ahora que su familia estará una semana de vacaciones, pero sus planes se ven arruinados, su cuidador temporal resulta una pesadilla 🙀

La historia es divertida y simple para niños pero me molesta mucho la mala tenencia de los animales y que se siga propagando las prácticas descuidadas. Ya se que es una historia pero no creo que sea correcto normalizar la irresponsabilidad.
Los Gatos que salen a la calle corren mucho peligro, Tufy pelea con otros gatos, come basura, tiene novias, todas esas situaciones de riesgo

Book 2 of the six book series, but this is the fifth that I have read, meaning I have read all of it except the first book, which is an odd way to read a series, but in this case it does not appear to matter too much. Another fun read about the title character and the adventures he has. Good entertainment here.
