Our world is gone and the dragons have enslaved us. The life I knew was changed forever when I lost someone I loved. I became a traitor to my people the day I saved Theron, the handsome dragon prince of Andrasar. He’s repaid my kindness with captivity. He’s made me his slave. He’s my enemy whose clutch I should want to escape. He’s a monster I should hate. But he makes me forget when his touch scorches me like a brand and marks me as his. Humans are a threat and should be destroyed. I’ve dedicated my life to the misery of humans. Their unwelcome presence is a reminder of what I’ve lost. The appearance of Seela, the beautiful human female who saves my life, contradicts my beliefs. She is my fire’s half, destined to be my mate. I can’t accept her. I can’t want her. She is my enemy. But she makes such sweet sounds of surrender when I taste her, I have no choice but to claim her as mine. Dragon’s Captive is a steamy sci-fi dragon shifter enemies-to-lovers fated mates romance. It stars a handsome, domineering alien dragon shifter falling in love with a lovely, brave and feisty human woman.
I write steamy romances with themes I love to read: action, adventure, and a little humour amidst danger. My heroes are strong, protective, and sometimes grumpy. My heroines are brave, sweet, and sometimes a bit sassy. Stories where they bicker their way into bed are my jam.
My husband and I live in Canada with our two plump kitties. In my spare time, I like to doodle silly comics or dabble in web development.
3.5 No espere que este libro me gustara tanto como lo hizo. Me encanto!
Questionable relationship. You can’t really go from hating an entire species to falling in love within a matter of a month or so. Also the physical part of their relationship felt too much like sexual abuse/assault. This sort of thing should NOT be romanticised. Also the story was a little confusing. For example it would have made more sense for Theron to wholeheartedly believe that humans murdered his parents. And he should have done more, like research and investigation, before he started to change his beliefs. It just seemed all a bit convenient by the end, and he literally didn’t NOTHING but listen to other people’s opinions and beliefs.
Quick read this one but it's too quick to successfully pull off the enemies to lovers storyline. Theron comes across as emotionless for most of the book until he takes off to get Seela. Once he has her in the private den where he admits to Seela her importance to him, it's like a different character emerges.
The book could have used more world building too. More detail about the shifted and unshifted dragons and their differences, more information about how succession and the ruling family, more about the mating and what it means too.
Holy jeez was the book steamy. Dragon's Captive is my first time reading a book like this and I can definitely say I was not disappointed. The only thing that was disappointing was how fast I read it.
Dragon's Captive is about a woman named Seela who is on the run from the ones who murdered the dragon who took her in as an orphaned child. She's been living on her own in the wilderness when she comes across an injured dragon. She saves his life and is repayed by being kidnapped and forced into slavery by the one she saves, who turns out to be the prince of the region in which she lives.
I love a good kidnapping story. It sounds weird, but I do. And this one was quite well-done. As I said above, it went fast but thay was probably because of how drawn into the story and characters I was. It was so easy to read and rip right through. Seela and Theron are a good match, both stubborn and passionate. The plot serves for the steamy bits, but honestly, that was what I was here for anyway. I would definitely read it again and recommend it highly.
Humans have to leave earth, and the new planet they find is inhabited by dragon shifters. When the ruler dies, they are all promptly enslaved. Seela was never a slave but her shifter mentor is murdered and she goes on the run only to stumble into the path of Theron, one of the biggest human haters there is. For the first time she becomes a slave but can't help being drawn to Theron. Theron wants Seela and believes that she could be his mate but he will have to get through years of prejudice to be able to truly accept her.
I really liked this, it was quick, sweet, sexy, had an interesting story that wasn't drawn out.
Really enjoyed the relationship between Theron and Seeks especially as the female protagonist is a woman of colour. It took me a while to start to feel something except animosity towards Theron. His arrogance and hatred was practically palpable, whereas Seeks tried to reason with him but even his sister could not help him relinquish his awful attitude towards humans. But he does change perhaps a bit too quickly but it is due to Seela's care and attraction to him. He feels it too but will not accept that his fire half is a human!! An interesting start to this series.
I love fated mates and I love dragons so I had to pick this up. Humans have to leave Earth and end up on a planet with dragons and are enslaved. Seela isn't a slave but ends up in the clutches of dragon Theron.
Theron recognizes her as his fated mate. Their story is enemies to lovers and through about half of the book I wanted to throttle Theron. Seela was a strong heroine and I loved her.
But ultimately this was a really fun and steamy read. There were several inconsistencies and the world building wasn't mind blowing but I was mainly here for the smut so 🤷♀️.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who loves dragons. Shea Malloy is a wonderful storyteller. The characters were very believable in their emotions and that leads to a wonderfully satisfying conclusion to the story. I am excited about the next book in the series.
Cool learning new words in this world. Like how Seela sees life as precious. And works to save those despite how they have treated others in the past. I like Theron and how he changed despite being taught to hate humans. Which you could see from the beginning had evil reasonings behind it before finding out the true reasonings for tragic events.
After humans finally destroy earth, they take spaceships to find a new world to live on. But they are put into slavery and killed often. A price of dragons is attacked and saved by a woman who turns out to be his mate. Lots going on and a romance that melts your heart.
Seeks was raised by a dragon and taught always to do good. When her guardian is killed, she is on the run. She comes upon a dragon who is injured, and saves him. He rewards her by enslaving her. But she encourages him to save her people. He knows she is his mate, but tries to ignore it.
Kind of bland basic hate-love shifter story. There is potential for more action and intrigue. I felt like the characters while having a back story, did not fully develop or grow. I just felt like the story needed to be fleshed out more. The dialogue (internal as it switches between the 2 characters ) was short and choppy almost middle school style.
I really enjoyed this shifter romance. I'm partial to paranormal/shifter and similar type romance as they add an extra dimension to the romance theme. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
Enemies to mates story. Whole new world that needs to be built. Find it interesting. Action, and romance and bad guys and fighting feelings and mating bonds. Happily ever after.
Dragon's Captive is an exciting and sexy adventure into a world gone wrong. Slaves, masters, torture, death along with courage, passion, life and love. Dragon's Captive will keep you reading until the end and wishing for more!
This shifter book is a lot different from the books I read. I love the Dragon stories from other authors, but this is different as it is on another planet and humans are slaves. Nice but different.
You immediately realize your on another planet through the language. History is taught throughout the book. Fortunately, the dragon part of the prince recognizes their mate even if it’s illegal.
This is a very intense book. So much going on both good and very evil. First there is enslavement and lots of killing then is there love or just more nasty incidents. Is there love or will it be denied. Such I good read it was impossible to put down.
Very well written and really love the characters. This is good read and I can't wait to read the next book. I think I am going to enjoy this author. Hope you do as well
This is an excellent story that morphs the characters from hatred to love! Fighting it every inch of the way, they discover fated mates cannot be denied!
