4 Love Isn't All Bad Stars

Who hasn't thought about packing up and starting over once in their lives??

Well Avery is 28 and after finding out her husband was bonking his secretary she makes the massive decision to do just that. Packing only the important things she heads to the coastal town of 'Ocean City' to start again.
How do you rediscover your belief that love can last forever, when a single moment scorched the ideal into dirty ashes?

 photo tattoogun_zpsf3umguxm.gif

Jesse owns a tattoo parlour in 'Ocean City', when Avery's roommate talks her into covering up her tattoo she had got with her ex. She did not expect the green eyed, tattooed spunk to wreck her plans of staying away from men.

I would have loved to get some of Jesse's POV I think that would have made this book more interesting, it's sometimes hard to feel the connection and chemistry when you are only getting one side.

I don't mind slow burn in stories much anymore as long as the story keeps my attention. What I do mind though is having a massive build up and then nothing. The sex in this book gets skipped completely, to say I wasn't let down by this would be a lie.

As it was this was a fun read about how someone can get a second chance for the life they want by going out and getting it. It had a great set of side characters which for me was the things that I really enjoyed.

Yes there are things that could have been better but if you are after a fun light read that's low on angst with not much drama with a tattooed spunk that will leave you smiling, then you should give this one a go.
I'm not stupid, I've learned the hard way that, like tattoos, love isn't permanent. Even a tattoo can be scorched off with copious amounts of time, money. Vows of forever can also be wiped away, obliterated with the monotony of time, the touch of another, or the changing of a heart.

There are times when all of us would like to just start over, remake our lives and move forward. For Avery Johannas, that time came after she divorced her cheating husband. Suffering such a raw betrayal leaves its mark and Avery’s heart is brutally scarred, her trust levels are at zero and she needs a complete life makeover. She quit her very vanilla job and moved to the beach, got herself a quirky roommate who helped her sass-up her outside, but taking a chance on love again, wasn’t so easy.

Then she meets Jesse, tattoo artist, business owner and a man with his own past who seems to “get” her and wants to be her rock. Can Avery beat down the demons of her past and discover what living and loving is really all about?

Lindsay Detwiler’s INKED HEARTS has it all, a young woman in need of the one thing she is afraid to share, a man so different and kind, willing to win her over and some of the quirkiest friends ever! Sit back, share the ups and downs of love with a bohemian flare as Avery learns that being carefree and taking life by the horns just might be the way life should be led! Filled with laughs, tears, drama and fun, Lindsay Detwiler gives us the perfect read to kick back and escape into for a little while! Did I mention the quirky characters? They make this story come alive with hilarity and heart!

I received an ARC edition from Lindsay Detwiler!

It was OK. This was a fluffy, feel good story about a woman who moves to a beautiful seaside town after her 6 year marriage ends when her husband cheated. She grows as a person and develops those talents she has neglected for years. Along the way she falls into friendship and then love. It's pretty typical of what you've read a hundred times before, but still a nice way to spend the afternoon. It's a romantic read but all sex is fade to black.

This is a really sweet story of a woman rediscovering herself after her life changed in ways that she never expected. A heartwarming, fun journey with an easy and sweet romance, this is a really cute read.

28-year-old Avery Johannas is starting over. After literally finding her husband cheating on her, she has divorced him and is moving on with her life, and that comes with a fresh start. So she’s packed up her life and is starting over in a small beach town, determined to live her life on her own terms, exploring what she wants and who she wants to be, and not giving her heart away again.

I won’t let a man change that again. I won’t let a man control me, own my heart. I’ll live for myself this time, wild and free, a girl of the unpredictable wind.

Avery finds peace and contentment in her new life. She has a wild and hilarious roommate, a job she enjoys and new friends that feel more like family. And then she meets Jesse. A quiet, somewhat broody man, Jesse own and runs the local tattoo studio, and he and Avery share an immediate connection. And though neither of them are looking for love, it sneaks up on both of them as they begin to spend time together.

There’s something different about Jesse, something that makes me feel like it might be okay to let go. He makes me feel like I won’t lose myself. In fact, he makes me feel like I can actually find myself again.

This is a really sweet romance. Although there is an attraction there, Avery and Jesse become friends first, hanging out, laughing and joking, and sharing their pasts as they get to know each other. Jesse has a great sense of adventure and he challenges Avery to push her limits and really live, and it’s exactly what she needs. Their feelings grow naturally and there is a beautiful sense of honesty between them as they open up and embrace what’s happening between them.

“I know it hasn’t been long, and I know I shouldn’t fall this hard so fast. I’m still scared, Avery. But that kiss yesterday well, it made me think maybe it’s okay to be a little scared. It made me feel like it’s worth it. You’re worth the risk.”

And he’s such a nice guy! He’s not a bad boy or a manwhore, he’s just a regular guy who hasn’t had the easiest life, but he’s done well for himself and though he’s also scared of jumping in, he is beautiful with Avery – treating her sweetly and with respect. Though they do get intimate, there is no sex in this book, but there’s a nice amount of swoon.

“I love you. Scars and all. Sadness and all. Let me be here for you.”

But will Avery and Jesse ever fully be able to move on from their pasts? They will be put to the test sooner than either of them expected, and will need to figure out what it is that they truly want.

I enjoyed this book. It’s a beautifully written story, and I loved Avery’s journey as she rediscovered herself and found what she never knew she wanted. The love story is really sweet, but I would have liked to have seen more of them together, been a part of more of their dialogue. What is there is really nicely written, but there was a bit more monologuing than I would have preferred. But it all ends in a really good place, and I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series (fingers crossed it’s Jodie’s story!).

A really sweet read – 3.5-4 stars.

Favorite Quotes:

You know, Avery, rule one of getting a tattoo—don’t piss off the guy with the tattoo equipment who can wreck you for life.

He, like the elderly women, is also wearing rather tight yoga pants—except his are leopard print. To go with his leopard print pants, he’s picked out a black muscle tank that is leaving very little to the imagination—not that I would have really wanted to imagine his hairy chest anyway. I try not to stare at his pecs, nipples out and all, as I offer a polite grin. I don’t say anything, not really sure how to respond to a man twice my age who has just used the word “electrifying.” Jodie exhales with a little snort… Yoga is not only an epic disaster. It’s going to be epically disturbing.

Oh my God, you’re reprehensible. Both of you. What, are you both a hundred? You do know that at an adult sleepover, you’re not actually supposed to sleep, right?

I’ve never been the woman from the movies—the one who walks seductively in her dress that clings in all the right places, her eyes screaming confidence and sexual energy. I’m usually the girl who walks like a clomping goat in high heels and who has no sense of fashion. I’m the kind of girl who can’t pull off the serious photo face, and usually ends up looking constipated.

My Review:

Inked Hearts provided a realistic premise with real-life issues, an engaging storyline, and adorable and endearing characters. The story developed gradually, as did the character’s confidence and new sense of identity after hitting reset and starting over at age twenty-eight. This was a character-driven story, which I tend to savor and the talented Ms. Detwiler does so very well. I appreciated the lack of contrived conflict and formulaic tropes. The story was easy to follow, relevant, entertaining, inspiring, and could very well be happening in any community.

Avery thought her marriage was forever and solid - until she found out in the most humiliating and humbling manner possible that it wasn’t. There are few among us that after suffering a major set-back have not had the urge to remake ourselves and start afresh, where no one knows of your background, teenaged escapades, family shame, school struggles, unsightly acne, choice of prom date, childhood embarrassments, etc. I did it and highly recommend it, the only problem being that you have to bring yourself along, damn - there is always a catch…

Avery quit her job, packed up her car and massive dog, ditched her pencil skirts and kitten-heeled shoes, found a roommate and apartment online, fled the controlling strings of her uptight family, and moved a state away with only a few other rather sketchy personal plans. Pretty brave stuff. I enjoyed watching Avery gradually open herself up to change, take risks, battle her self-doubt, silence the voice of her ex-husband in her head, and begin to blossom and finally realize she has found her footing. Avery fell into and navigated through alternative routes she would have least expected and were as surprising to her as her newfound love of fried pickles; which is a dish I must now track down and sample.

The first book in the Lines in the Sand series, Inked Hearts by Lindsay Detwiler shows what it means to let the life you knew go to become your true self.

Every one of us at some point in our lives wanted to just pack up and leave all the gossip and people telling us what we should do.

Inked Hearts is about Avery who is brave enough to move across countries in search for a new truer version of herself, to create a life she wants.

Divorced at 28, she swore off men completely and instead is now focusing on being truly happy. She moves in with a roommate she met online, got a job waitressing, and tries to let go of her painful past while learning to enjoy her present.

Jesse is the kindest tattoo artist hero that I have ever read. Down to earth, he stole my heart right from the start. Holding on to the memory of his father, Jesse opens his tattoo parlor to follow his dreams at the place they frequented. A place his father loved dearly.

Jesse isn't a stranger to heartbreak either and similar to Avery, he guards his heart too.
Due to their similar experiences though, they connect on a whole new level. Their personalities compliment each other and Jesse brings out the best in Avery.

Despite the strongly built walls around their hearts, they open up.

It may not be easy to love someone knowing that they have every power to bring you down, but sometimes its absolutely worth it.

I really liked Lindsay's writing and her way of storytelling.

I loved all the quirky side characters that brought in a lot of humor in an otherwise serious plot. Regardless, the whole story overall was a lighthearted and warm read.

I wanted something that was fast to read and just kept me busy for a little while -without thought or actually getting involved into the story.

And other than rolling my eyes at the EXTREME cheesiness that is going on in this book it was exactly that.

Its nothing special, but its fun.

And sometimes that is exactly what i want and i got it with this, so its good for that.

If however you are looking for "deep" romance, for realistic and logical story and good plot, great writing and wonderful characters?
Sorry can't say that this book actually has that.

The writing is decent enough -thought the cheesiness is extreme so for me that does take points of for "great" writing since honestly there is a limit on how much you can use specific lines and this book overdone it quite a few times!

The characters are okay, if completely unrealistic and in most cases not logical in any ways at all!
I mean the main character apparently is this fantastic accountant that loves her job... so why not search for job that leasts her do that? Why start working in a bar? What? Why? I don't understand?
I mean i get it, if you need the money, and don't find the right job you when you need a job, take what you can get, girl! But i just don't understand why if she loves accounting she can't actually find herself a job that allows her to do that.
And those kinds of things keep popping up with all characters, where there are juts a lot of those moments where is a lot of "what? Why? But that makes no sense!"

The plot is similar. Its okay, but if you actually think about it? Forget it, plot holes, illogical behaviour, moments that make NO sense at all... but if you just read it and DON'T think about it? Its great.

So as i said.

If you want something that is just super easy to read and not think while doing so?

Great pick.

If you analyse everything you read?
Its going to be terrible.
Which sometimes is fun too.

I would defiantly recommend it as a "sit down on a bad day and get flooded with cheesiness" type of books to lift your mood!

Inked Hearts was a pleasant and warm read.

I liked Avery, our heroine, she is a scorned woman who decided to leave her past behind and to move to a little beach city. Her thoughts and emotions are clearly portrayed I felt like I was next to her during her journey to a brand-new life.

The supporting characters perfectly complement the story,I can't wait to read more about them in the next book.

About the Author

 photo Lindsay Detwiler Head Shot.jpg

An English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink and/or glittery, Lindsay's the English teacher cliché; she loves cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe.

She currently lives in her hometown with her husband, Chad (her junior high sweetheart); their cats, Arya, Amelia, Alice, Marjorie, and Bob; and their Mastiff, Henry.

Lindsay's goal with her writing is to show the power of love and the beauty of life while also instilling a true sense of realism in her work. Some reviewers have noted that her books are not the “typical romance.” With her novels coming from a place of honesty, Lindsay examines the difficult questions, looks at the tough emotions, and paints the pictures that are sometimes difficult to look at. She wants her fiction to resonate with readers as realistic, poetic, and powerful. Lindsay wants women readers to be able to say, “I see myself in that novel.” She wants to speak to the modern woman’s experience while also bringing a twist of something new and exciting. Her aim is for readers to say, “That could happen,” or “I feel like the characters are real.” That’s how she knows she's done her job.

Lindsay's hope is that by becoming a published author, she can inspire some of her students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. She wants them to see that any dream can be attained and publishing a novel isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Avery Johannas is divorced at 28 - overcoming self inflicted self confidence issues and now her cheating husband has done nothing but put those pieces back in to play in her head. Starting over and hoping for something even a tad better for herself which includes NO MAN is her plan. Her new roommate might help her remember what its like to have fun (I hope to see a lot more of Jodie) and her boss is a good guy she thinks but dating him -- no way.

Jesse knows his new girl is a force to be reckoned with but he will steal her heart -- all he has to do is convince her that he is worth the trouble.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I have been struggling for quite some time to find something that would keep my attention. I found this story refreshing -- I found it worth my time -- I found it exactly what I needed after the emotional toll of Irma and the forces out there right now. This was a great and much needed escape.

This is my first read by this wonderful author. If this is what we can expect from her then sign me up for the rest. The banter between the characters was great -- the characters were all well written and although you didn't have to think too hard to stay on top of the events; it was a page turner.

Thank you for the ARC and thank you for the chance to read! Send more! Great cover as well -- my laid back himself Jesse to the tee. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

When Avery leaves her home town to start anew in Ocean Beach, she's getting away from her failed marriage, a betrayal that completely caught her off guard, and shaking up her career by stepping away from her job as a CPA. It's really the start of her journey in finding herself. Her identity has been wrapped up in being a wife and a daughter, and she taking a a huge risk by leaving the safety of her family.

In Inked Hearts, Lindsay Detwiler delivers a beautiful story about taking chances. Avery upends her life in what seems to be all ways. She gains a friend and co-worker in her roommate Jodie, and then finds a second chance at love when she meets "bad boy" Jesse. From the go these two share a connection. It's a bit of a slow burn romance as they have both experienced heartbreak and are reluctant to take that kind of risk again.

"Together, it seems like we’re coming out of our shells, stepping away from the past and the hurts that haunt us. Together, it feels like we can just be ourselves, whatever that means. "

Inked Hearts becomes a friends to lovers story too as they take their newly developed friendship to any other level. Jesse is just the right amount of sweet and his kindness is actually very sexy.

I loved watching their relationship change, to grow, and the support they provided each other. Their story was perfectly paced and relatively low in angst. What I really loved about this story though was Avery finding her voice and discovering how strong she really is. There's a strong subtext about the perils of dating post divorce, that questioning of how to trust your instincts when you got it wrong before and Detwiler gives us a well rounded story on the impact and how to build faith again. 4.5 Stars and recommendation.

This book was an ok read for me. It was a fast read. It flowed good. But it was missing something for me. It was missing the heat from the main characters. I wanted to feel the sexual attraction between them. And as I read on... I kept waiting for something to happen. in my opinion it never really came. The drama in this book just seemed like it wasn't enough. This book had a wholesome feel to it. That's not bad. But just something I'm not use to.

I would put this book in the clean category. There is sex in this book. But... it's not described. You just know that it happened. Jesse is this tattooed good looking guy. But, he seemed more sweet than bad boy. Like he was saving himself.
I needed a little heat. Maybe some PG-13 or some R rated stuff. This book was straight PG.
It was nice. But I just need a little more.
These characters were in their late 20's. But at times I felt they acted older.

The big turn off for me in this book is how Avery was constantly thinking about her ex. I mean... just when you think we've moved on from him. He pops right back up with Avery. The internal dialogue was killing me with Avery. Constantly comparing everything. And just overall thinking about what could've been. It was getting old with me.
I wasn't feeling all the angst towards the end of the book. I thought it was just so late in the book for all that.

I loved all the secondary characters. They were funny. And I felt is what saved the book for me. They had me laughing. They really accepted Avery in their little circle. And helped her get through it all. And I loved that!

I'm not sure who the next book in this series is going to be about. But I have a feeling. And I would definitely want to her her book.

Wow! This book was an AWESOME 5 stars for me! Avery has picked up and moved miles away from her ex-husband who betrayed her and smashed her heart into pieces. She decides to take this opportunity to live a more carefree life, but love is DEFINITELY NOT ON HER RADAR. Then, she meets sexy, mysterious Jesse, the owner of a tattoo store. He’s not interested in romance either, but the two recognize heartbreak in each other’s eyes. So, the beginnings of a friendship and possibly more begin. The question is will these two be able to let go of past hurts and risk a future of happiness together?

This is a romance, but it’s also a journey to finding oneself. In her new life and relationship, Avery begins the journey of self-discovery. This girl has guts. She leaves behind all that she knew to not only heal but to live a life finally for herself…not the hurt, damaged ex-wife, not the sweet daughter, and not the always responsible CPA. Through her quirky roommate, friends, new boss, and Jesse she learns how to live a somewhat carefree, and most importantly, free life!!!!
Like Avery, Jesse has been hurt and has insecurities and fear dictate his decisions, especially concerning love and relationships. He is just as scared of Avery as she is of him. I just kept hoping they would jump at the opportunity for the love and happiness that was staring them right in the face.

I highly recommend this romance. Who can resist a story with sexy chemistry and a deep, emotional romance? Add in great friends and two adorable dogs and a cat, and you’ve got as close to perfection as you can get. LOVED the ending of this book…it was so Avery and Jesse!

Avery is leaving her old life behind including her cheating ex-husband and her love of Accounting to get a chance to start over in Ocean City. She meets Jodie, her quirky yet hilarious roommate and her clan of friends. They instantly take to Avery. She has her new Avery groove going on and it is peaceful.
Jesse has a quite side he hides well based upon his past experiences, yet there is one thing he holds dear and that is keeping his dad’s dream alive by working at his chosen passion, but in the town, that he shared many memories with his dad. Avery and Jesse meet at the restaurant and build a friendship and don’t move past the friend zone for quite a long time. Avery is hesitating to move forward with a man (hence, the reason she left her sorry ex) and she didn’t come looking for love in her new town. These two click instantly and while the spark is there they aren’t certain that they want to ruin the friendship level. I loved that Jesse moved at a slow pace to suit Avery’s needs and accepted her scars and all. Don’t get me wrong he had his own past to hurdle, but hers was fresher.
It wasn’t all peaches and cream and towards the end your heartbeats waiting to see what is going to transpire and if they make the right decision. When you think you knew your life dream then are met with a new side that is more you, do you go back or stay? Wouldn’t you like to know?! Haha You will fall in love with this book and characters. They will have you in stitches when they all get together. Can Mr. Green Eyed make Avery see their scars can be hidden by Inked Hearts or will the waves wash away that fine line drawn in the sand?

With the end of Avery Johannas' marriage, her satisfaction in her old life has started to crumble. So when she decides to leave it all behind for a fresh start, she vows to herself that this time she is going to do everything different. Until she meets Jesse Pearce...

In a brand new city, with a new roommate, a completely different job and a fantastic group of friends, she slowly regains her confidence and learns to be happy for herself. But her idea about avoiding men is quickly unraveling with her friendship and attraction to Jesse, she wants to believe they could be good together and this relationship would be different... but learning to trust again is harder than she thought...

This was a good book! Avery is a strong woman who realizes she needs a drastic change in her life if she is ever going to be happy. She is a talented artist who needs some self confidence and to surround herself with good people who believe in her. Jesse is a sweet, successful guy who has been burned by a relationship himself, but he gives Avery all the time she needs to realize they could be great together.

This was an endearing story of new beginnings and finding yourself along the way...

Plot?
Heroine is cheated on, leaves her husband and moves to another country close to the ocean.

Pacing?
Heroine meets the hero in chapter 5. So, yes, it takes about 20% of the boom for them to actually see each other for the first time. Slow placing, to out it kindly.

Writing style?
Too much inner monologue for me. Nothing extraordinary, nothing great. Some editing issues with the ebook.

Characters?
The heroine was a bit too boring... and I kinda missed her spine, her backbone, her sass. She has a degree for goodness sake and then she works as a waitress?? Why? Why wouldn't she be an accountant for some smaller businesses? What's the point? I mean, yeah I do get the point, she wanted to be away from her dad's company, her former boring 70s hoousewife/accountant life and become the artist she has always wanted to be but still... working as a waitress?? When you can work in an office? I... just... no.

The hero seemed to be a bright spot in the beginning but then he doesn't seem to have any idea of the importance of after-care when putting a tat on someone. The author should have done way more research. The tattoo artist, i.e. the hero, just tells the heroine the tattoo is on the house and then he lets her leave without talking about after-care... argh.

The ending?
Too ... cheesy? Too 100% what everyone wanted?

Intimacy?
Squeaky clean novel except for some cursing (I think but then probably not even that)...

I voluntarily accepted an ARC of this book and here is my review.

This is my first Lindsay Detwiler book. A lovely second chance at life read with lots of emotion and great, relatable characters. I adored Avery and her friend Jodie and the crazy friendship she had with her, Lysander and Reed.

I loved the creative theme throughout the story, the way that the freedom goes hand in hand with creativity. A free mind will create the best work and a calmer, happier atmosphere.

Jesse was an interesting character, the sexy, deep and meaningful tatooist with a kind heart made a great change of pace from the hot badboy tattooists Ive read about before.

This book had me feeling all sorts of emotions, sad, wistful, laughing until it hurt. There was a scene that had me laughing out loud for nearly 20 minutes before I calmed down enough to carey on reading, it was so funny I'm grinning just thinking about it as well as thinking that it would be something that would totally happen to me.

This was a sweet and slow romance without too much angst and drama involved. The gradual building of trust and love between the characters was wonderful to read. I loved the way Lindsay developed Avery's character and I really felt like I was discovering Avery at the same time she was disovering herself.

Looking forward to more.

This book was exactly what I'm used to from Detwiler and that's why I loved it. It was sweet and the story didn't rely on steamy scenes in order to be entertaining. I had already read the second book in this series, Wild Hearts, which focusses on Jodie, and I really loved that one as well. It was definitely fun to read about familiar characters in Inked Hearts, because they all are very loveable!

Of course, I love a steamy scene from time to time, and this book lacked them. On the one hand - like I mentioned earlier - this made for a better actual story, but I had liked to read at least one (more detailed ) hot scene. But that's just me, because the story was still amazing. So, if you like contemporary romance, which isn't focussed on sex, then this one's a great one! And I really recommend the other romance novels by Lindsay Detwiler. I already know I'll be buying Lines in the Sand #0.5, which is about Reed and Lysander their love story, soon!

* I was kindly sent an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own! Thank you Lindsay! *

I'm glad I looked past the cover that really didn't fit this story.

Avery is a newly divorced twenty-something who has left behind a cheating ex-husband and a demanding job in the family accounting practice. She's uprooted herself and left Pittsburgh behind for a new life in a small beach town in Maryland to find herself. Luckily, she finds a roommate who pushes her outside her comfort zone, a job she never would have taken in her old life, and Jesse - the tattoo artist depicted on the awful cover.

This was a beach read, through and through. What woman doesn't occasionally dream of leaving it all behind to find a new life, new friends, and the love of her life? AND on the beach? Count me in! If you're looking for a sweet (closed door) romance with very little angst, this is it. Pretend the cover shows a cool old boardwalk with Jesse's tattoo shop, some shops, and a cool bar & grill, and you're set for your next vacation romance. 3.75 stars

Inked Hearts by Lindsay Detwiler is a full-length stand-alone romance novel.
Meet Avery Johannas, she´s 28 year old, divorced from a cheating husband and moved away to start new. She´s scarred on heart and soul and trust doesn´t come easily to her.
Now she has a carefree, quirky roommate, a wonderful laid back boss and a tattooed , mystery parlor owner who wants to win her heart.
Avery is torn, she really, really likes Jesse. But can she take the risk of loving again.
I really, really love this book. There is not much drama, but I was hooked from page one. I read this book in one sitting, I couldn´t put it down.
I love the story, I love the writing and I love the pace of the book. I love the words and the characters. There is no alpha hero, nor heroine. Both had past relationships, good and bad.
I love the sidekicks, they´re hilarious.
I recommend Inked Hearts and give 5 beautiful stars. Thank you Lindsay Detwiler !

This book starts with a woman's quest to find herself after a divorce leaves her disillusioned by the concept of love and marriage. She moves away from home with nothing more than what she can fit inside her car, away from everything she has ever known and loved. On this quest, she makes some great friends, who help her open herself up to new possibilities, and a new life.
This is a new to me author, and I really enjoyed it. Unlike a lot of books on the market today, this is not a book for someone looking for an insta-love connection. This isn't a book with a lot of drama. There is a slow, sweet build to a relationship between the main characters, and the book is more about empowerment and strength of character. I think this is the kind of book that will stick with you, more so than others, because there is actual meaning behind the words. It's a beautiful story about love, possibilities, and new beginnings.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a cute story :) Jesse and Avery were characters to relate to. Avery is leaving behind a broken marriage and moves to Ocean City to start over. She's a pretty strong character. The story is told completely from her POV. Jesse has his own sad tale to tell. You can really feel the characters' pain and happiness.
The additional characters added a bit of fun to the story. I hope the roommate's story is next. Would like to see her happy. I would read more by this author.

Oh wow! What an amazingly well written tender romance! It’s a story about starting over and taking a chance on life again. The author has written characters that are so down to earth and relatable, that you’ll feel like you’ve known them (or people like them) all your life.

The storyline is exceptional. It’s jam packed with emotion. You’ll go through times of sadness, happiness, fun and soul searching with Avery and Jesse (well all the gang for that matter) and it’s so worth it. I am super excited there will be a book 2 in this series.

To the Author I offer a vote of high praise and if I could I’d give this tender romance 10 stars simply for making me feel so good and for making me feel like I was living the story not just read it. 2 Thumbs Up for an amazing book that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

Avery moved to a new state to start again. Not expecting to find love again. Avery and Jesse find a second chance at love with each other after both having their hearts broken by other people. Avery is a strong woman. She doesn't want to be defined by a man. She is brave to defy her parents, leave a nice job, and strike out on her own. She doesn't NEED Jesse but he complements her and you can't get much better than that! Highly recommend this book! I couldn't put it down because I connected with the characters and wanted to know what happened with Avery!

4 Stars!

Inked Hearts is a sweet story of recovery and finding love.

Avery moves to Ocean City with two goals in mind - reinvent herself and never fall in love again. Then, her meddling roommate and boss introduce her to Jesse and despite her best efforts, Jesse finds his way in.

Avery, Jesse and all the Midsummer Nights gang are great! The story is sweet and clean. Good writing and very little drama make this an easy read.

Fall in love with Jesse and Avery in Inked Hearts!
