Kennedy has finally achieved her goal of running her own diner. She’s buried in unpaid bills and debt, but she’s living her dream and she’s not having to crawl home with her tail between her legs.
The previous owners of her diner were less than forthcoming about the renovations and expenses that would be necessary for Kennedy to keep it running safely. This has forced her to dip into the last bit of her personal savings to cling onto her dream for a few more months.
Out one night to drown her sorrows, she’s approached by a gorgeous older man who reeks of money and power. The electricity between them is intense and absolutely sizzling. Kennedy is almost convinced to throw caution to the wind for one night of passion and bliss, but Bryce proceeds to stick his foot in his mouth and the mood is doused in ice cold water. They both head home alone, but he does give her his number in case she ever wants to meet up for business or pleasure.
The next day things go from bad to worse as a devastating fire leaves Kennedy’s hopes and dreams in a pile of rubble. Desperate for advice, comfort and any kind of loan that will keep her from having to go home to her unsupportive and nasty mother, she calls Bryce and asks for a meeting.
He makes it clear that he’s happy to help her out financially, but that means they can’t have any romantic entanglements. He’s only interested in a one night stand anyways, but he can’t risk his heart getting involved in a business deal, no matter how unlikely it is to happen.
Kennedy has to decide if her rebuilding her dream diner is worth giving up for a chance at love with Bryce. They have a connection and incredible chemistry no doubt, but she feels there could be more between them. Can she convince Bryce to mix business and pleasure or will she be forced to make that heartbreaking decision? Is Bryce even capable of a long term relationship? He’s been upfront and honest about his desires and none of them included riding off into the sunset with a wife. Is it worth throwing her dream away on such a long shot gamble?
This was a great change up from many of the other billionaire romances that are circulating right now. It was steamy and very sexy, but it also had deep characters with flaws, dreams, fears and tough choices to make. I really loved it.
Owned by the Billionaire by Kira Blakely a sublime five star read that will own you, body and soul. Once again Kira Blakely has produced a fabulous book, she writes Billionaires like no one else, where others may write them as just rich men, she writes them as rich men who are so much more, men who may have money but they also have a depth of character that you can’t help but fall in love with. Kennedy Grant was a renowned chef, she trained to be an expert under pressure in the best kitchen in Chicago but it also came with long hours and she decided to follow her dream. The Penny Diner was that dream and when Kennedy bought it the previous owner said it was ‘ready and able’ but when she starts renovations she realises he may not have been fully truthful, but the diner is her dream so she keeps at it, even if it will leave her broke. When something goes wrong and the diner burns down she realises she may have to give up on her dream, until she thinks of a chance meeting the previous night. Could fate have plans to get her dream back for her? Bryce Cain is a rich man, he has a chance encounter with a woman across a bar, he feels things he doesn’t usually feel, but when she walks away he assumes that’s it, until she calls him up for a loan. As with any good business deal he will have to get something out of it. So, he offers her the loan, but he gives her a moral dilemma. Kennedy must decide how much her dreams mean to her, and Bryce must decide how much he wants her. This was such a great read, I loved it so hard. I can’t wait for the next Kira Blakely read. I have now read several books from her and loved every single one. She is an author I would recommend in a heartbeat, and this book is one of my favourites from her.
This book was just too silly for me. So yeah, the couple has chemistry when they meet but she isn't they type for one night stands so she walks away. Only to wake up to the worst possible thing to happen to her ever. Somehow even though she doesn't know this dude, she assumes he's rich and gives him a call with a business proposition. What????? He meets her and then tells her that her idea is good but she will have to sleep with his friend if he decides to help. Well, if you wouldn't sleep with a man you were wildly attracted to for fun, why would you then sleep with someone you've never met for money????? Then after the sex he says it was once only and you've already got fantasies of marriage and get offended???? UMMMMMM, you just slept with a man for money so why be offended that he only wants one night???? Concept was just too stupid. Then after all of you regret and pining for him he comes back and asks you to marry him for you to turn him down due to the ranting of some dumb French Heifer???? Story did not flow for me.
Sigh, I am truly torn. I really wanted to like this. On one hand I like that it's really also about finding oneself before you find love (something I fully agree with). But there was a lot that bugged me. Kennedy didn't really seem to have much spine. Or growth as a character. And Bruce. You know what, let's just not go there. I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this. Maybe duel pov and first person would have helped. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I cannot say I really enjoyed this book. There was a little mind f*cking going on and it was a bit wishy-washy for me. Some people may like the book but all I can give is my honest opinion.
Kira Blakely never disappoints. This is another well written story by her that will suck you in and will have you wanting to keep reading until you are done. Kennedy is a chef who decided to own her own diner. The problem is, the money she is putting into it is more than she has. The person she bought it from lied as to how many things were wrong with it. Bryce is a self made billionaire who Kennedy meets at a bar that her friend Everett tends bar at. They have a deep attraction to one another and the chemistry is off the charts. Then Bryce wants to know what Kennedy’s “price” is to go home with him. Kennedy is shocked and tells him she is not like that. Bryce walks out of the bar leaving her there but leaves his phone number on the table, so Kennedy slips it into her purse. She is very stressed and needs to find a way to help save her diner and her employees. Then she gets the call that no business owner wants to receive, diner was burning down to the ground. She has a huge decision to make, call Bryce and ask for help or just give up the dream she has had since she was small. She ends up calling Bryce for a meeting and during this meeting, he tells her that he can set her up with a billionaire that would help her but the one thing this person would most likely want is 1 night of sex but only if she wants to. He gives her the address and she does indeed decide to go and see what this person is offering. She goes to the hotel and comes to find out that it’s Bryce who is the billionaire willing to help her. They have dinner together and one thing leads to another and they have a night of passion that neither of them will ever forget. Come morning, things change. It’s a bit cold now that they have had sex. It’s all business now. Bryce tells Kennedy that she can have the money she needs and it won’t be a loan but she cannot have anything to do with him anymore because he doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Kennedy of course wants him just as much as the money. What will Kennedy’s choice be? Is there a chance for her to make her diner even better than even she imagined if she takes the money? What will happen to her self respect if she takes the money and has already slept with him? Can two people who have such a great connection just ignore each other because love is so scary? I can tell you that if you read this book, you will not only find out the answers to these questions but you will find that this book is a MUST READ… Well written with strong characters. I'm torn with this book. Overall, in general the book is good but, as I read it, I had trouble liking Kennedy and Bryce. Kennedy isn't a strong woman. She questions everything and double guesses what she decides. She has trouble believing in herself and lets her mother bully her at every turn. Bryce is a manipulative and arrogant man who uses women to prove his point. No one is worthy of his time. They just want him for sex, not even his money. The push/pull that goes on between Kennedy and Bryce is tedious. She wants him. He doesn't want her. He wants her. She isn't ready for him. I get that it is a learning / growing thing with them to get to the HEA but, I just didn't feel that Kennedy and Bryce are the real deal.
Kennedy goes to a club to forget about her problems. She meets Bryce, a billionaire used to getting what he wants. He gets a new experience when he strikes out with Kennedy.
When her diner burns down, Kennedy has to meet with Bryce about a loan. He will give her a loan if she spends one night with him.
Eventually, they get back together. And Kennedy realizes Bryce was testing her. They are amazing together, but Kennedy has to follow her dream.
Can they both have their dreams together? Or is this the end? Read the book to find out what happens.
Wow this was a fantastic series of stories . It was a roller coaster ride of emotions with great characters playing it out. Strong dominant males brought to their knees by women used to working hard and the simpler things in life. Rich men used to getting what they want are intrigued when these feisty women dare to say no and challenge them. Buying an island is easy becoming her equal harder. Fantastic value Great fun
Why was this book titled Owned by the Billionaire? The title doesn't make sense. I don't know if I completely loved this book. It wasn't what I was expecting. It ended too quick and then their was the extended epilogue. What happened between Kennedy and Everett. I almost feel as if I have to read it again.
Unfortunately for me,I had read nearly every story in this book already and didn't realize this book was a compilation of Kira's works. The good news was, I had enjoyed each and every story the first time around. Don't hesitate to read this book, it's pure enjoyment cover to cover!
Great story. Kennedy's diner burns down and she gets a loan from Bryce, a billionaire who doesn't want the money back if she never sees him again. While her diner is being built, they go back and forth over falling in love and the right time to be together. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This is a collection of stories. I hadn't read a couple of them yet, and the first one was my favorite. Pretty good read, although it became predictable by the end with the mega-rich guy pursuing the down-on-her luck poor girl. Hey - who can resist the Cinderella story?
This book was so good that I read it non stop. This was a great love story and may I say, who doesn’t wish for a hot and irresistible man who is an animal between the sheets, on the kitchen floor and up against the wall. Just saying.
This story was about what you really want vs. What you settle for. The characters were good, and the story moved along quickly. There are other books in this as well.

I voluntarily received an ARC of this book. I just must say that this author Kira Blakely is quite fast becomming one of my utmost favorite authors!!! This book is just smashing, it has it all. Heroine, her hero, ups and downs in her life as the book is mostly about her. It has the complexitiy neccessary for a good book and also some steaming +18 scenes as well. So all in all, a book worth buying and one I can recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reading copy of this book. I really enjoyed this book and basically read it in one sitting. It had me hooked! The two main characters are Kennedy who is a responsible woman who owns a falling down diner and Bryce who is an insecure billionaire who never mixes business with pleasure. Kennedy looks to Bryce for help when a fire destroys her diner but will he make an exception in her case and let both worlds mix? There is some steamy scenes and some sad scenes. I loved Kennedy's personality. She was strong willed and confident. I loved how she affected Bryce. This was a great short read and I highly recommend it!
I enjoyed this book. A women who wants nothing more than to make her dreams come true of owning a diner. Kennedy made that dream come true for herself only to buy a moneypit and with her savings coming to a big fat zero she is unable to fix everything that needs to be fixed which sets the diner on fire. Now with her dreams going up in a blaze and fear of having to return home to her parents as a failure she tries one last thing. She sets a meeting with a rich man she met at a club to ask for a loan. Bryce has a different payment plan in mind. He wants her like he's never wanted anyone else. But he has a rule of not mixing business with pleasure. He gives her one amazing mind blowing night then the next morning tells her that he'll giver her the loan and in exchange she's to never see him again. Kennedy is caught off guard with this since she thought that night ment more for the two of them. She takes time to think this offer over and in the end accepts his offer. Now with months passing and her heart broken she finds herself at the club again and sees Bryce who looks how she feels. They wind up in a room of the club and their passion coming to a head again only this time Bryce won't let her go. He needed to make sure that she would keep moving forward with her dream and not give it up for him and she proved herself to him. He takes her away to Paris right after and proposes to her. Does she say yes and forgive him? Does she think he's crazy for pushing her away and then pulling her back in? Get the book for the ending. It's great with a twist.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Another great book by Kira Blakely. Loved Kennedy and Bryce. They both are attracted to one anther from the start. Their chemistry is great! I really liked how even though it stared as a one night stand, Bryce decides he wants more and finds a way to keep her. What they go through is what makes this a great read. Loved the HEA
I am voluntarily reviewing a book gifted to me by the author with no obligation. Owned by the Billionaire is another amazing read from the awesome Kira Blakely. I enjoy reading her stories and as always she doesn't disappoint! Owned by the Billionaire is standalone, no cheating, no cliffhanger, billionaire romance story with a HEA. This one features Kennedy Grant, a renowned chef and Bryce Cain, a sexy and rich older man. Bryce and Kennedy have great chemistry together but Bryce doesn't mix business with pleasure. Kennedy ask Bryce for help when all her dreams for her restaurant go up in a fire. Did Bryce helps Kennedy? But Bryce has a different kind of payment in his mind. Can Kennedy accept his terms? You have to read the book to know what happen. Highly recommend it!! I can’t wait for the next Kira Blakely read.
