“I won’t let anything happen to you. That’s my word of honor.”
“Breaking the honor code” is a book that has a nice balance between suspense and romance. I really liked the fact that even though the book has plenty of action packed scenes there was still time for Sloan and Allison to have a few intimate moments and get to know each other.
Usually romance stories begin after the very first meeting of the main characters, but here the heroine already met the hero a long time ago, these two might have spent their everyday life working together, but they didn’t really know each other and that was one of the messages that the reader takes from this story. In general, there are three themes that were explored in this book: knowing someone’s true self, learning to trust other people and trying to always act honorably.

Breaking The Honor Code is a sweet romance with enough suspense for the romantic Suspense readers to enjoy.
Readers will enjoy the sexual tension between playboy Sloan Cartland and computer expert Allison Richards. This is book 4 in the NorthStar Security series and can be read as a stand alone novel. The authors make sure readers know who and what NorthStar Security does without bogging down the story.
The character development is a lot of inner monologue as well as miss communication between the different characters in the series.
The story flows well, the writing is what reader expect from Romantic Suspense stories. While this story is more romance than suspense the author adds a mystery that will keep the readers engaged to the end of the story.

In martial arts there is a name that sums up their entire purpose, Bushido- Honor. That is exactly what this story is about.
Sloan Cartland works with his best friend at Northstar Security Firm. They have just learned that a hacker has sent sensitive information about witnesses in major cases to the news. When the companies computer expert is unable to be contacted, Sloan is sent to her home in Idaho. He stops at a service station to fill up his tank before trekking the rest of the way to Allison Richards' home. Knowing the weather will affect his gps he decides to go inside of the station and ask for help.
Allison is a single woman who carries more than skills than anyone knows about her. She is fixing a snowmobile when Sloan comes in the garage where she is working. She immediately recognizes that he works with her at Northstar and she has tried so hard to avoid his advances. When she hears that there is a threat on her life, she immediately heads home to her nephew Mitch. He is staying at her home until his parents arrive back from their vacation.
The snow hits blizzard levels and the roads are to dangerous to drive on. Sloan, Allison, and Mitch are snowed in the home for two days before the plows clear the main roads. Sloan calls his boss back to check in and learns that Allison is the hacker. It gets harder to fight his feelings for her and be mad about her for the betrayal. The three travel to LA to find the hacker and stop the company to loose its vast reputation.
I love how this story displays real emotions and the baggage that can follow a person throughout their life from being hurt. Some times there are people who can fight through those suitcases and get rid of some of the guilt. The need for protection of the ones we love vs.. The need to protect yourself is strong. Trusting someone when things do not look bright is the hardest decision that these characters face. Each character is dynamic in their insecurities. I love reading their story as they rise above it all as they find the truth.
This book is perfect for many ages because there is only mild violence. The romance side of this story is very chaste, yet leaving you the implication on the searing heat of passion! Stanalei Fletcher hooked me with the first book in her Northstar Security Series and became a must read for me. I could not wait to get my hot little hands on Breaking the Honor Code and when I did I could not put it down! This is one of those books that is so incredibly awesome that you have to see what in the world could possible happen next.
Allison Richards is smart, really good at her job, she's sweet, independent, and loves her family very much. This lady can crack code with the best of them. I think one of things I really liked about her is that she can tear apart just about anything, fix it, and put it back together again. She loves her nephew so much and even creates fun games for him. She is the perfect "favorite" aunt.

On the way he's sent to check on Allison and to take her with him. It sounds like a simple enough plan doesn't it? The weather had other ideas. Allison, her nephew and Sloan are all snowed in together.
Allison and Sloan don't exactly hit it off right away. The tension and friction between them starts to add to some attraction. Then things start to go wrong. I won't tell you too much because you are going to want to read each and every twist and turn for yourself. While Allison is trying to figure out what is going on with the network for Northstar Security things start pointing at her. Oh my! My heart was pounding before but when the drama and danger start my pulse was pounding, my breath was catching, and I was flipping pages as quickly as I could.
This is the fourth book in the Northstar Security series but can easily be read as a stand alone. All the books will stand on their own but let me tell you they are all also so you may just want to pick up the whole series when you grab this one. The charters are charming, well develop and very easy to bond with. The story lines are all fabulous and each and everyone one of Ms. Fletcher's books are page turners.

Breaking The Honor Code: was an amazing story. Lots of suspense and hot attraction! I loved how the story started and how it kept you the read on your toes wanting to know what was going to happen next. The romance was perfect and I like how they didn't admit their attraction to each other until the end. I loved how it was written and I could not put the book down. The teamwork of all the characters was great and I just loved it all.

Bushido!
Breaking The Honor Code is about a talented computer geek, Allison Richards, who is trying to track the hacker responsible for compromising the security of Northstar, the company she works for. I liked Allison because she's intelligent and has an old-school sense of principles.
Sloan Cartland is the infamous playboy son of her boss. He also works for Northstar as a field agent, and was sent to bring her back from her vacation in her hometown. He caught a glimpse of what kind of person Allison really is, and was torn between admiring her or believing the evidence that she was the one responsible for leaking the company's confidential files to the press.
The story certainly kept me interested until I read the last page. The pace was just right and the characters interesting. I liked that the romance was palpable, but remained innocently sweet. The mystery behind the hacking was intriguing and the action was enough to make me finish the book in one sitting.
All in all, it was a good read and great as a stand alone. I'd certainly recommend it and would read the rest of the books in the series.

Someone is leaking case information from North Star Security’s files. Is it an inside job or has someone hacked into their computer system? Agent Sloan is tasked with heading to Iowa to locate a vacationing Allison...head of the computer dept. Allison isn’t just vacationing, she’s caring for her 8 yo nephew while her sister & husband are on a cruise. When Sloan arrives, just as a storm hits, she has no choice but to have him stay with her. The snowed in pair get the opportunity to finally explore the fire that has been growing between them over the past months. Too bad that Sloan learns that Allison is the traitor. Can Allison really betray North Star, the company that hired her after her career as an LAPD officer was cut short? How will Sloan handle this information? Is Allison in danger? This book was, by far, my favorite in the series. The h was a strong female, without the constant belligerence of past ones. Great ending...awesome narration.

BREAKING THE HONOR CODE (Northstar Security #4) by Stanalei Fletcher is another entertaining addition to her romantic suspense series. This series gives you stories that are well written and always deliver an action packed page turner.
Allison Richards has been dubbed “the cyborg queen” of the Northstar computer labs. All work and no personal interactions. When she leaves to takes a vacation and go home to Idaho to babysit her nephew, the hacker that has been plaguing Northstar strikes again.
Sloan Cartland is Northstar’s profiler. Viewed as a rich playboy, he doesn’t try to fight that misconception. When the hacker strikes Northstar again and more damage is done to the company’s reputation and cases, his boss sends Sloan to retrieve Allison and bring her back.
Trapped by a blizzard, Allison and Sloan begin to see each other beyond their work personas and sparks begin to fly. But when communications are restored, Sloan is ordered to get Allison to L.A. The evidence is pointing to Allison as the hacker. Sloan now questions all of his feelings for Allison and their attraction, while Allison has to use all of her skills to save herself, her nephew and her reputation.
I really enjoy this series and all of the characters. The books are easy to read with fast paced action and romance. This book has the beginnings of a romance which was sweetly written without any sex scenes. The themes of trust and honor are woven throughout all the characters and storyline. An enjoyable read that can standalone, but the whole series is well worth the read!

This is a MUST read!
I love the Northstar Security series. Breaking the Honor Code is a stand alone book, but the first three I recommend also. It's a fast past story and you'll love Sloan and Allison. They butt heads at first but... And as an added bonus Mitchell her nephew is thrown into all the intrigue. I couldn't put it down!

Bushido, the Japanese word for honor sums up this story perfectly. Sloan is sent to bring back Allison to Northstar Security. Someone is hacking their computer system, and she is the one who can figure out who it is. They are both surprised by their mutual attraction. When Allison becomes the lead suspect, Sloan needs to bring Allison back, but will his loyalty lie with Northstar or with Allison? Allison is a strong woman, can stand on her own but now when she needs help. There are a few twists and turns in this that are completely unexpected. The romance is beautifully intertwined, and I love the interaction that Sloan has with Allison's nephew. It reflects what great character he has. The technical aspects of the book are interesting, I love the puzzle solving, following the ip addresses and finding the footprints! It's fascinating to listen. Although book 4 in the series, it can definitely be listened to as a standalone.
Charles Norman is the voice of Northstar Security and he continues to give a wonderful performance. He is perfect with these men who enforce security, having that sound of command and honor.

This is my first Northstar book, and it's easy to read as a standalone. I can pretty much guarantee that after finishing this one, I'm going right back to buy the rest of the series.
The difference with this book is the strength of the heroine. This is not your typical romance novel heroine -- Allison Richards can run circles around most of the men in this book. The hero doesn't make her -- he adds to her. She's tough, she's smart but she has just enough vulnerability to make her likable.
So, feminist stuff aside...this book is still very hot, and very much a romance. God bless the writer for making a hero like Sloan.

Another great installment (an audio review)
I enjoy Stanalei Fletcher’s books and have avidly snagged each book in the Northstar Security series. That being said, there are times when I feel Ms. Fletcher takes a leap toward creating characters who are equal in the romantic relationship, but then pulls back just before that goal is achieved. Allison is a great character. A former police officer, a computer analyst, and avid gamer, she breaks many stereotypes. But then she withdraws back into her insecurities and shies away from being assertive. Often, when interacting with the ‘reformed playboy’ Sloan, she comes off as churlish and rude. I had a difficult time discerning whether she was snappish as a character or if it was the narrator. Certainly, many lines leant themselves to sarcasm.
Also, Allison is nicknamed the ‘Cyborg Queen’ by her coworkers because she holds them at arm’s length. And that moniker comes from the people who like her. One man who doesn’t, calls her ‘Nerd Diva’. Part of me railed against the stereotype that all women programmers are socially awkward and standoffish, uncomfortable in social situations.
Now, some of that was laid aside when Allison engaged with her adorable nephew. Their interactions spoke of a familiarity and comfort. Mitchell is intelligent, precocious, keen, and eager to learn new things. I loved that he embraces the notion of Bushido – honor. That theme carries through the book as Sloan is forced to face the fact Allison might be the hacker who is putting Northstar in danger. Allison is forced to defend herself, and even Mitchell is called upon to step up.
I am enjoying the series and the narrator, Charles Henderson Norman does a good job, but his voice is more suited to the men in the series. His female voices are a little off and it is occasionally hard to listen to him as Mitchell. After four books, though, I am used to Mr. Norman’s performance and it would not keep me from purchasing another book nor did it hinder my enjoyment.
This was another good book and I hope the final book of the series will be out on audio soon. I will be sorry when the series ends.

Breaking the Honor Code is a nice little romantic suspense, not too heavy on the suspense. Allison is a techie working at Northstar Security. She's got a lot of walls she's built around herself, for reasons she doesn't disclose to people. Sloan is a former playboy turned security agent who's been tasked by his boss to go make sure Allison is OK and bring her back, as no one's been able to get a hold of her recently. When Sloan arrives, he finds her perfectly fine, working in a garage and apparently watching her nephew.
As Allison and Sloan work together to find the hacker who has been targeting Northstar, soon suspicions fall on Allison herself. But will Sloan believe the evidence or will he believe Allison, the woman he's falling for? It won't be easy on Sloan, because Allison is so self contained that she's never allowed anyone to get close to her, to get to know her, but she finally let Sloan in a little, but did she let him in enough for him to see her heart? To see she'd never do what people, even their boss, suspect she did?

This is the first in the series I've listened to, and I'm impressed! Love the premise, Northstar, and how each book features new leads but some of the same characters from other books - I'm definitely going to listen to others! Thought the story was really exciting and fast-paced, and it was mixed nicely with romance for a very entertaining story. I really liked the narration, I think Charles Norman did a great job. I'd definitely recommend this book and I'm on to another Northstar tale! :)

i really enjoyed this book. i like a nice clean love story with lots of suspence

It is pretty fast paced and quite humorous! I really like the nephew character. What a fun read!!

Breaking The Honor Code is the second book I've read in Stanalei Fletcher's Northstar Security series - you can read my review of Proving Ground here. While loosely connected, each book is absolutely readable as a standalone; you don't get characters from previous books popping up all over the place to confuse the main plot and the romance between the two leads.
Allison is Northstar's 'cyborg queen', a brilliant, geeky young woman who genuinely loves her job. When Northstar receives a threat warning about her absence, Sloan Cartland, the firm's profiler, is sent to find her and ensure her safety. A hacker targeting Northstar plants a trail implicating Allison and Sloan is alerted; he has to make the call to trust her, or not.
Spoiler alert; Sloan makes the wrong call. I was absolutely shocked. Due to a plot-convenient power cut he knew - he had absolute hard evidence - that she COULDN'T be the hacker, because she had no computer access at the time when the hack took place. And yet five minutes later he apparently completely forgot about that fact and decided to suspect her, with absolutely no grounds whatsoever.
Because this IS a romance novel and it has to have a happy ending, of course they get past it and everything turns out all right in the end, but I can't begin to imagine how. If I were in Allison's place, Sloan's lack of faith in me when he had clear evidence exonerating me would have spelled the end of the relationship before it even got started.
Breaking The Honor Code is well written, with a clever and thoroughly researched plot, but the failure of the hero to behave in a heroic manner towards the heroine means I can't give it any more than three stars.
