Psychic CORE #6

Celeste Files: Primal

Rate this book
Fear the living, not the dead…

John Kain’s wife, Celeste, has been abducted. With little evidence, the CORE investigator enlists the help of their clairvoyant, three-year-old daughter. He attempts to connect with Celeste through his preschooler, but he’s left with more questions than answers, and even more fear. Using psychic visions, his little girl somehow takes him into the paranormal world and shows him the horror his wife is facing—if he doesn’t find Celeste soon, he might never see her alive again.

Celeste has woken to a living nightmare. Thirty-five years ago, a psychiatrist obsessed with the supernatural had kidnapped her psychic mother. Although her mom had survived, the twisted doctor had murdered five other people like her, and thanks to her mom’s testimony, was sentenced to life in prison. Spurred by vengeance, the psychiatrist’s son is determined to continue with his father’s experiments, and he has a special room just for Celeste.

With the help of the dead, Celeste is doing everything possible to save herself from being tortured. But she’s running out of time. Her kidnapper believes he can enhance her psychic gift through brain surgery. The doctor is in….and he's insane.

This is the book it seems I have been waiting for in this series. The past is revisited in many ways and long held secrets are finally out in the open.

With Celeste's mother having died before we as readers got to meet her and with her mother keeping so many secrets from her daughter, we didn't know the full extent of her psychic abilities nor her real reasons for keeping them hidden from her daughter and also the actual reasons she didnt want Celeste to know Ian – her real father.

When a son and mother of a a killer that has been incarcerated for 35 years kidnaps Celeste to continue his sick experiments, the past comes crashing down on Celeste along with new abilities being awakened. We also get to see how strong John and Celeste 3 year daughters abilities have become when she becomes the catalyst to finding where her mother is.

Celeste is now a force to be reckoned with her new abilities and with her children looking to have the same abilities future books should be very interesting for this family.

I have been waiting for Olivia to shine, and Kristine Mason is letting her show her stuff in Celeste: Primal. Olivia is only three years old, but when her mother is abducted, it is up to her to save her. I have read all of Celeste’s stories, and this one tops them all.

Celeste, John, and the kids were heading home to Wissota Falls, Wisconsin, for vacation. She wanted to go home, but, with her memories of the past and the last time she was there, I would have opted for the beach.

Maxine, Celeste’s mentor, has seven failed marriages and a house she shares with some friendly ghosts. Too bad they can’t talk to Maxine, but they use Celeste as a go between. They are funny and helpful, and this time they are talking to Olivia.

When Celeste goes missing, the wrath of CORE, owned by her father, Ian, comes down…There will be hell to pay and no one will stop until she is brought home.

Some CORE secrets will be exposed and I wonder what the repercussions will be.

I always laugh at myself when I come to the part where the action revs up and all the bad begins. I wait, anticipate, and revel in the badness. The darker, the better.

Primal is an apt title for this brutal, savage delving into parapsychology by those with their good and bad reasons for it.

OMG. I think I’m going to puke. OMG, Celeste…I have to wait, collect my thoughts as the horror and true evil of Martha washes over me, making my skin tingle and shivers run up and down my spine. I actually gagged. Through the tears pooling in my eyes, I read to the end.

If you love a breathtakingly beautiful love story and a horrifying supernatural thriller, this is one you will no be able to put down once you start. You will want the to follow the characters through their life, meet their friends, family, and ghosts, struggle through their trials with them, and share in their happiness during the good times.

If you have a ghost in your life, hold tight. You never know what help they can be in your time of need.

I love that Kristine shared the middle finger in the novel and if you want the chuckle I got hearing about letting the bird fly, read this yourself. You won’t regret it. Her writing will leave you wanting more.

Once again this author has put out a powerful story. Celeste has powers she is developing while learning she has more that has been dormant. She would have liked to suppress them but now her children are starting to exhibit powers of their own. In this freaky as hell story Celeste gets to know her mother a little better. Excellent book. Can never go wrong with a book by this author. I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Celeste is abducted and John doesn't have much time to find her. Olivia's gift is getting stronger as she show's her daddy who took mommy. Can they find her before it is to late? This Author keeps you glued to the pages. As always she surprises you at the end. I love getting lost in the pages. The emotions and relationships come to life and you can picture the scenes as it plays out. If you have not purchased Celeste File: Primal do so now it is a must read.

A wonderfully written sixth book in the Celeste series. Once again Kristine Mason has delivered a chilling novel of good versus evil. A lot of the past characters were also brought into this book reminding me of how much I enjoyed all their stories in past books. John's wife is kidnapped by evil in this book and as a result She finds out a lot about her Mother's past along with finding out how strong her powers actually are. I can't wait to read the next book. These stories just get better and better. I highly recommend reading any book written by this author.

Mother and son, grandmother and grandson! I really enjoyed learning more about Celeste and her parents in this book! It was interesting to see her evolve more as a person and history comes back "around". I feel there's so many directions these characters can go, going forward. Some things have been answered, and more questions are out there. I look forward to more in this series.

Primal is one of the best ones yet. Celeste is taken while on vacation and this time she’s fighting for her life from the living. Celeste’s psychic gift continues to grow and change. This opens up a whole new level and shows how strong she really is. John is also stepping more into that world. I really enjoyed witnessing Celeste as she goes through so many stages. Fear, desperation, courage and ultimately the anger that opens other doors (quite literally). And instead of cracking under the pressure, she just becomes more bada$$. This story had me wired the whole time. I just knew something was going to happen that would change the whole course of Celeste's life. You could feel the tension come right off the page. Kristine Mason is a must read for me. From her C.O.R.E series to the lighter romances, it’s all good. But the Celeste Files is a favorite. I love anything in the psychic world and this series takes you everywhere and through all the nuances of the paranormal.

I have read all of Kristine Mason's Celeste Series and Core books and this my favorite by far. The book was chilling, some of the story line gave me goosebumps. Without giving to many spoilers this book really Explains alot about Celeste's family that has keep you wondering in other books. The story tells you some of the family secrets. She is able to take a look at her mothers powers and why she didnt know Ian was her father. It allowed you to see how much abilities her babies really do hold and that Celeste is more powerful then she even knew. Loved that she finally connected to Ian on a level she hadnt in the past. You really learned the love that John has for Celeste. I couldnt put this book down and didnt want it to end.

John and Celeste just can not catch a break. They are just dealing with everything after Vigo possessing John, and now more evil is back for this family. WHAT THE HELL?? But these two are strong and will deal with anything that comes along.

Celeste is kidnapped while on holiday. Yep what a great start to the holiday. These people do experiments on psychics and poor Celeste is the next patient. One is for science the other is just psychotic. But she isn't alone and with help learns more about herself and the past.

John is fuming, his wife has been taken from him and his kids. They just got back together and now this. Everyone is helping to fund Celeste and why she was taken, but the help that gets them clues is not from the living. And John finds out how truly special his family is and what they can do.

This book has alot of emotion going on, not just for the family but Celeste finds out while being a patient of the Rykers. What I do like about this is how the relationship between Celeste and Ian has grown a little more. Olivia and Mason show a little of how powerful they can be, Olivia is such a brave little one helping John. I can't wait to see how this family deals with all the new things that have come out of all this. How amazing will it be when Mason and Olivia are older ?
