This book changed my life. It taught me the diffence between selfish remorse and truly godly sorrow that leads to repentance.

Not for the faint of heart. It really made me examine myself. Helped me to see the difference between remorse and true repentance. Selfish remorse is feeling sorry because sin’s consequences and effects. Selfish remorse leads us to be sorrowful for what we’ve done because of how it effects us then we try to white knuckle ourselves into obedience. Making ourselves be obedient rather than submitting to God causes us to have up and down bouts with the same sins because we hate the effects but love the sin. True repentance which is seeing sin the way God sees it, hating it, then turning away from it and receiving the grace to never go back to it. This book is a sobering pull to swallow. Short but strong.
