Scabs #3

Scabs III: Humans, Gods, and Monsters

Rate this book
THE FINAL TALE IN THE INTENSE SCABS TRILOGY I was created by human emotion; love, elation, hate, fear, desperation. On occasion, I awaken and become aware. It is always triggered by humanity's cry for help. ~ Kokumthena Scott, Warren and Missy Walsh did not understand what their roles were to be when the omnipresent light first blinked on. They believed their only obligation was to find a safe place for their small family to escape what was happening all around them. But fate would not allow them to hide away in the North Carolina cabin for long. Now, with their number hovering near a dozen survivors, they must work together – along with Koku, the flawed, self-aware Goddess with a long-term memory problem – to preserve Earth for humanity’s occupation. Earth Canyon Retreat is their sanctuary for the moment, but as the invaders make adjustments, so must the survivors. As the winged, clawed and fanged monsters ravage all life forms on Earth, working toward their goal of total annihilation, these ragtag remnants of humanity must find some way to drive the interlopers from the planet. For when humanity dies, so do its Gods ... once and for all.

The Scabs Trilogy in my rearview mirror, and Dead Hunger long finished, I introduce Emma's Rose: The Cave! It's my new ZOMBIE series.

It has been a while since I delved into the zombie world. I really enjoyed writing the Scabs Series, but something was pulling me . Perhaps they were dead arms, peeling and gray, reaching for flesh. My flesh.

As usual my stories are character driven. Emma's Rose is no exception. I hope you enjoy the whole new cast of characters, and the new adventure, along with the new zombies.

A HUGE thanks to all of you who have read any of my work.

Now ... about me.

Eric A. Shelman was born in 1960 in Fort Worth, Texas. He now lives in Cape Coral, Florida with his wife of thirty years, Linda.

Life is good. But it takes hard work.

A FAR OUT ALIEN INVASION IT IS...

Hello, this story started out real good. The second book got a little trippy. The third book just drank all the shroom juice. Thanks.

WOW, WHAT AN AMAZING ENDING TO AN AMAZING BOOK AND SERIES.

WOW, what an amazing ending to one amazing book and series. Eric A. Shelman has written one great series with this set and this book definitely showed how really great it is. With Missy, Scott, Warren, Crazyriver and all the rest of their friends they consider family, they think they have found the perfect place to escape from the monsters they call Scabs. With the help from Koku, whom they all agree on and believe is the God that may save them, they do their best to survive. But as more of their family perish, they also find a reason to live, but will it be enough? Another top series from one great Author, that I would and will recommend to all. 3 books in this series was definitely the way to go, but then I would have liked it a little longer, because when I find a really great series I always want it to go on longer, but that is just me. Thank you Mr. Sherman, this is one series I won't forget.

Must read

For anyone that is a sci-fi/horror reader this is the series for you. Very interesting characters that you bond with and root for, primarily composited of multiples (twins, triplets). They are fighting an enemy like none written about before. As usual Shelman takes you on quite a ride with unexpected turns and twist. Once started hard to put down.

Trilogy with goosebumps

Literally, whenever Eric A Shelman puts out a new book in a series, I always go back and re-read the whole series, that is how good his books are. I feel like I know his characters, like they are someone you would want to be your friend, especially in an apocalyptic world. Loved this trilogy

Freaking awesome!!!

Loved this trilogy Eric! I started it a few days ago and haven't been able to stop till I finished the final page today. It kept me captivated, made me cry and totally sorry when I read the last line. Of course, as always, it didn't disappoint. 5 stars and a thumbsup👍👍👍

What a thriller conclusion to another great series by Eric A Shelman. The Scabs are running out of time in their plot to eradicate humans from Earth, while our group of survivors are running out of time in the fight for their lives. Who will eventually won the battle and at what cost? As always in any book by Shelman, you become totally invested in the characters and go through many emotions during the reading of the story. I highly recommend this series of three books to anyone who enjoys the sci-fi genre or just a damn good read.

This is the last book in the series and what an ending it is . This is an action packed book . The story picks up where book two left off . The gang is still at Earth Canyon retreat . They are healing and trying to figure out their next step. They are battered , bruised but have some new found powers that may help annihilate the gross invaders. Will they survive and will they be able to take back the world .
I have read all three books in this series and I must say the author has wrapped it up pretty good . The characters are so well developed and as you read the series you see them grow . They become more of the hunter then the hunted . You see them loose people close to them and you will cry when they say good bye . You see them live their lives and actually fall in love . Yes I said love, you can't go through the end of the world with out falling in love a time or two , while fighting those creepy invaders .  I must say I really got invested in these characters , I was cheering when they succeeded and cried when they lost . Laughed so hard in some spots especially when Koku was involved the goddess had such a bad long term memory . You could see the guys getting frustrated
I am kind of sad the series has ended , this was a great series that kept you on the edge of your seat . Wondering what was going to happen and it they were going to survive . Yes there is gore but the author doesn't over do it, its done right . I read this book in a day , I just couldn't put it down . The author had me sucked in and I couldn't wait to see how it was going to end. The twists and turns had me wondering and trying to figure out what was going on. The twist was a jaw dropper to me and made me go WTH. The series is such a great story . So if you want a series that will keep you reading well into the night . This is the series for you . SCABS III  rocked check it out and check out the series .

Epic

The story picks up where book II left off but with more questions than answers going in. Koku becoming more in tune with the survivors. She is growing stronger in presence as she awakes and is trying to find a way to help. But the PM, the alien in charge of exterminating humanity has some nasty surprises in his urgency to claim this world. The plot, the twist was something I did not see coming and yet it was predictable I was so engrossed in it, I missed the small signs. But that is what makes a great story teller as Mr. Shelman has shown us time after time. He lead us down a well worn path as he spins yet another adventure for us to follow, tripping on our sorrow for those lost, laughing at the jokes between Warren and Scott and even Koku who is more awake than she has ever been. And what they learn about the SCAVBS is heartbreaking but they can only look to themselves to survive what will be one finale night in a battle to the end. GODS, HUMANS AND MONSTERS...the ending is just the beginning and will tell you everything you need to know. I was disappointed how it ended but when has humanity ever surprised and disappointed us when disaster and reemergence begins. And that is perhaps why, yes I was disappointed, I understood far better than I wanted too; why it ended the way it did, making it one of the better endings for any book Mr. Shelman has had, in my opinion, to date. My hope is that maybe he will be kind enough to allow Missy and Gordon an adventure all their own in this new world they helped....save?

Where to begin…how can I convey to you what a great story this is? From the very first book, I was sucked into the world that Eric had created. My emotions…on a roller coaster ride. I can honestly say that at times I was scared senseless…not an easy feat for an author to accomplish but Eric A. Shelman managed to do it! He managed to make me afraid to go into the garage at night and to turn the light off at bed time. The characters were very well written and were believable and likeable. Everyday people like you and I…not macho…gung ho…one shot and they are dead type characters. They are the characters that you cheer for, the ones you want to see succeed in beating the creatures…to out run and outlive them. The ones who become like friends to you as you read. The ones you scream at to be careful…the ones you cry for when they don’t make it. From the beginning to the end of this story I was on the edge of my seat. As I read along and got farther into the story with my heart in my throat most of the time, I could feel my heart race as each scene played out. Sometimes for the good and other times…well…I will just say that not every plan always works and then I would sit here and yell and swear at the author and yes…it made me feel better to do it! There is something very special about this story but I can’t tell you what it is because I can’t put it into words. It’s just something that affected me when I started the first book and never left me…even after I finished the last book. This story has a way of staying with you. You will be doing something and something will trigger a memory from the story and BAM! You are thinking about it all over again. Not many authors are able to achieve that but Eric has! I am going to miss this story. It’s like saying goodbye to an old friend, one that you know you’re going to miss…I do recommend this series. I know that I loved it and many of my friends have read it and have also loved it. It’s definitely a story that is different than a lot of apocalyptic stories out there today. So do yourself a favor and pick up a copy and enjoy the world created by this amazing author! Oh…and don’t cut yourself!
