A re-imagining of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.
Astrid was marrying the Prince - but that didn’t stop her going to the ball disguised as a Contessa.
Lady Astrid Rothshire had been betrothed to Prince Roman since she was an infant and now they were finally to be married. The trouble was that her imposing fiancee showed nothing but disdain for his future wife, which left Astrid no choice but to take drastic action.
Unfortunately, her brilliant solution had proven to be flawed. Now with just days to go before her wedding, Astrid found herself in the unlikely position of being her own love rival. With time running out Astrid must put an end to her charade and make Roman fall in love with her but can she do that without the Prince finding out that she has been deceiving him all along?

No thanks. The writing is flat, the characters even more so, rambling from one scene to the next while acting like aliens who saw five minutes of a soap opera ten years ago and are trying to remember how people act and feel and behave. No chemistry between any of the characters, and everything just seems so boring. The brevity of the story works slightly in its favor, because at least I wasn’t stuck reading this forever. Poor way to spend my quarantine time. Read Melanie Cellier instead.
I read the reviews before reading this book and realized that it was extremely short. So when I went in to read it (and checked the table of contents before reading and confirmed it's short), I went in with the mind set that the book was a short story. I believe that helped me enjoy the book a lot better then I would have otherwise.
This was a fun regency Retelling of Cinderella that doesn't include any magic. I had already read and loved Delphi's story in Lavender before reading this book so I was looking forward to reading more about Astrid. Astrid's character was fun and I enjoyed getting to read her and Prince Roman's story. The wedding at the end was a fun and sweet way of wrapping their story up. I look forward to reading more of the books in this series in the future.
This got to be the dumbest cinderella i've read about, not that the others were especially bright, but this one is a special kind of stupid, i almost feel sorry for the the kingdom that will have her as it's queen.
