About the author

Prakash is a bestselling Indie author from India. He is a social thinker and writer by passion. He is well known for his impartial analysis on political, social and religious issues of India.

Prakash was born in a remote Indian village on August 31, 1973. With a degree in Science and a professional course in Education, Prakash went for P.G. in Economics and after that he earned Master's Degree in Business and Administration.

Early in 1990, Prakash began working as a freelancer for newspapers. ''Shrambheri'' (a Hindi weekly) was only the beginning, he continues to publish articles, poems and stories in various print media. His co-authored books "Pratibimb" and "Mahakte Panne" were published by a vanity publisher there in India.

''Kathputli'', his first short story book on social issues, was self-published in March'17. It was in the news for more than two months, then went from social media to print media because of his great sense of humor.

During May that year, he participated in StorytellerUK2017 contest with his second book “Life in Shackles". This book took first place in customer reviews. "Life In Shackles" went global with the reader base in UK, USA, Canada, France and India.

Though his home town is Moradabad, he is currently residing in Kolkata (India) with his wife, a son and a daughter.

His hobbies include reading, travelling and helping others.

Did I forget to mention that he is a permanent resident of Facebook world (LOL) and tea is his favorite drink. 😊

Katputli is a collection of 15 short stories themed on the social evil of the society. These stories encourage the reader to think again and why it is important to talk about them. The author initiated this book to bring them in light.

It is a good and short read of 86 pages. You have seen the same circumstances near you from which the protagonists of the stories are fighting with. The stories are encouraging and motivating for the change.

"कठपुतली" प्रकाश वीर शर्मा द्वारा लिखित एवं जीवन के कटु अनुभवों पर आधारित १४ लघु और मध्यम कथाओं का संकलन है। इन लघु कथाओं में कहानीकार प्रकाश वीर शर्मा ने पूरी ईमानदारी और निष्पक्षता के साथ, आम आदमी को पीड़ित और प्रताड़ित करने वाले समाज के गंदे राजनीतिक वातावरण, दोगली मानसिकता, धर्म के नाम पर फैली कुरीतियों और शिक्षा की महती आवश्यकता का सजीव और रोचक चित्रण किया है। कठपुतली की सारी कहानियां सरल और आम बोलचाल की भाषा में लिखी गयी हैं। कहानियों को रोचक और सुगम बनाये रखने के लिए जगह जगह हिंदी के साथ साथ उर्दू और अंग्रेजी के प्रचलित शब्दों को भी जोड़ा गया है। ये छोटी छोटी कहानियां नाट्य, कथा, संस्मरण, उपन्यास आदि विभिन्न विधाओं और भाषा शैली में हैं। प्रेरक होने के साथ साथ इन कहानियों की सबसे बड़ी विशेषता यह है कि पाठक को कहानी के किरदार अपने घर, मोहल्ले या गांव वाले ही लगते हैं इसलिए पाठक लगभग १०० पेज की यह किताब एक ही बैठक में पढ़ने को विवश हो जाता है।
"कठपुतली" की कहानी "चक्रव्यूह" वर्तमान राजनीति की फिल्म है। हर समय हमारे साथ रहने वाले लोग किस प्रकार हमें अपने इशारों पर नचाते हैं, इसका वर्णन चक्रव्यूह में है। उपन्यास सी लगने वाली यह कहानी सन्देश देती है कि पढ़ाई लिखाई के दौरान बच्चों को पथभ्रष्ट होने से बचाने के लिए निरन्तर माँ-बाप के मार्गदर्शन की आवश्यकता है। "तरक्की का राज" अपने नाम से ही सब कुछ कह जाती है। "कर्फ्यू" नामक कहानी की तरह इसमें भी मुसलमान और जिहादी दोनों तरह के व्यक्तित्व है, हिन्दू-मुस्लिम भाईचारे की प्रतीक यह कहानी सीमित संसाधनों द्वारा उन्नति का सन्देश देने में पूरी तरह सफल है। राजनीति, मीडिया और वहाबी विचारधारा को बेनकाब करने में लेखक सफल रहे हैं।
"दहेज" एक तरफ समाज की बुराइयों और झठी शान-शौकत का आईना है वहीं अंत में "बहु का कन्यादान" नामक कहानी की तरह समाज में नवचेतना, नई शुरुआत के लिए प्रेरित करती है। "बहू का कन्यादान" नामक कहानी चिकित्सा संसाधनों के अभाव, इस अभाव के चलते मृत्यु और नवविवाहितों की फिजूलखर्ची के साइड इफेक्ट्स को "लाजो" की तरह चित्रित करती है। यहां बचत, सेविंग्स, मितव्ययिता के महत्व का स्पष्ट सन्देश है।
एक ही अपराध के लिए महिला और पुरुष के प्रति समाज की दोहरी मानसिकता, ढुलमुल रवैया कैसे एक महिला की जिंदगी को नरक बना देता है, "चरित्रहीन" सोचने को विवश कर देती है। नागरिक के अधिकार और कर्तव्यों के बारे में जागरूकता के उद्देश्य से "मिर्जा का दान" और "मिर्जा की मूंगफली" नामक कहानियां बहुत ही प्रेरक और संदेशात्मक है। "गुड़िया", "मजबूरी" और "दहेज" नामक कहानियां लगभग ८० प्रतिशत महिलाओं को बिल्कुल उनकी अपनी कहानी सी लगती हैं। छद्मवेषधारी नेताओं, समाजसेवियों और उनके चापलूसों पर कुठाराघात करती "समाजसेवी" और "वर्दी वाला नेता" जैसी कहानियों ने इस संकलन को सम्पूर्ण बना दिया है।
कुल मिलाकर आकर्षक कवर, त्रुटिरहित मुद्रण एवं कीमत को ध्यान में रखते हुए शब्दों की मितव्ययिता के साथ लिखी गयी बहुत ही अच्छी पुस्तक है - "कठपुतली" जो एक साथ समाज, राजनीति और धर्म से जुड़े मुद्दों पर सफलतापूर्वक मार्गदर्शन करती है।

Great book on Indian social/political issues in Hindi language. The author has very good command on the language.

This book is a very good mirror of societal issues,evils, psychology as well as general mentality. The author stictched them in a very good way. Stories such as chakrayuha,tarakki ka raaj,catalist,gudiya.chartitraheen,majburi etc. infact all stories are good. though level of involvement is okay, but the fact is that they are inspired by what is happening and what has happened around us.
