Sophie Baxter had been passed from relative to relative after her parents died. Eventually, said relatives passed on too, leaving Sophie no choice but become a mail-order bride. But in Sophie’s case, she looked forward to it. No more drudgery, no more taking care of sick relatives, watching them die, then doing it all over again with another set. No, this was progress! But when Sophie arrives in Independence, Oregon to finally meet her future husband, she gets more than she bargained for. A lot more!
Following in his father’s footsteps, Fletcher Vander took to practicing law like a duck takes to water. Too bad his methods were so frowned upon by his current employers. Worse, his unorthodox ways got him fired. With a stiff upper lip, he returns home to Independence, where the unthinkable has happened! Who’d have thought life in the tiny town would suddenly become so exciting? And in the midst of it all was a true damsel in distress. Maybe getting fired and forced to go home wasn’t going to be so bad after all …
Enjoy this sweet, clean, wholesome western historical romance! And visit with a few familiar characters to boot!
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
I could only read about half of this book before I had to quit. The really stupid, naive, shallow and annoying heroine had just listened to malicious gossip from a stranger trying to manipulate her and the heroine believed the gossip without a single second thought. She began making stupid decisions based on the gossip and treating the hero badly (as the gossip was about him)...etc. RED FLAG. I didn't feel like I needed to put myself through the drudgery of reading the rest of the book because I could predict the rest. Some might find this veeery ordinary and mediocre book enjoyable...but it's all too predictable and adds nothing new to the "mail order bride" romance genre.
This is another fantastic story by Kit Morgan and I loved it. The Mail Order Bride Ink series is awesome This is another story in another amazing series that Kit Morgan has expertly written. Sophie Baxter is a mail order bride going to Independence, OR. She arrives in town only to find her intended murdered while waiting at the train station for her arriving in daylight. Then she gets arrested for his murder. This is the start of a very interesting and fun but a bit scary romance story. Fletcher Vander grandson of the Mayor and Mercy Vander just arrives in town and hears right away after getting off the stage what happened so he heads to the sheriffs office to see if he can help this young woman. He is a lawyer who is returning home because he lost his job at a firm in Portland that his grandfather helped get for him. This story picks up speed and excitement all of a sudden, well after the excitement of the first murder in town since the sheriff arrived. Then it is full speed ahead and you can't put it down because there is so much happening in the sheriff Jace, Fletcher and Sophie together trying to solve her intendeds murder. But there are all kinds of surprises and twists and turns that just make this a very well written and fun story to read. I highly recommend this story and all the ones in this series. You won't regret it. I also recommend you read her Mail Order Brides series to get a bit of all the towns she is writing these stories in to get a feel of the towns, the folks living in these towns and the families that are involved and you will get a feel of how funny, whitty, and adventurous her stories are. You will love all Kit Morgan's fun stories are.
Dear Mr. Vander brings us a slightly different bride’s tale, one filled with mystery, mayhem and murder. I had a delightful time with Sophie and Fletcher’s romance, although I don’t want to say too much for there is an intriguing mystery to be solved here. This story is packed full of interesting characters, some simply fun and delightful, others more suspicious and not always what they seem on the surface. There bad guys to track down, and love to be claimed by two people hit with the lightening bolt of love at almost first encounter. Dear Mr. Vander is a very good story with an ending reveal that will probably surprise you. I love a good mystery and Ms. Morgan certainly gave us that… and much more.
If you love Western Historical Romance then you’ll want to check out this series and this story. I’d definitely recommend this one to any reader who loves a good romance, a mystery to solve and a cast full of interesting and fun secondary characters. I had fun, and this is why I read romance.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Sophie Baxter comes to town intending on meeting her soon to be groom. A one Edgar J. Munson. However, once she arrives, she finds out a tragedy has occurred.
Enter Fletcher Vander to save the lovely Miss Baxter. He vows to protect her her and help find the criminal that is loose. But can Fletcher keep his mind in the case, or will it be on Sophie?
I really enjoy Ms Morgans work. Always good, nice stories. This was just about perfect. It was the romance and settings that did it for me. The mystery part was a bit too lightly covered but it didn't detract from the story.
Highly recommended for a sweet story and easy read.
This story set in Independence, Oregon is later than other books in this series. It involves the now adult child of Garrett and Ammy in The Holiday Mail - Order Bride book. Many other secondary characters are in the story, as well as a mystery and murder.
When you want to escape with the equivalent of a dime store novel Kit Morgan is the place to go. I really enjoy her books and this one was no exception. Mail Order Bride books are so fun to read. Sophia goes to Independence, Oregon a fictional town to meet her groom Jasper. Only all is not quite as she expected. Fun book. Clean read and this one kept me guessing to the very end.
Simple story, mostly about the developing feelings between Sophie and Fletcher. There is a murder mystery but it is a strong backstage to the story; so much so it felt lacking. I did not suspect the villain, but who would since there wasn't much offered to that end. Very little depth. I could take it or leave it.
I look forward to each one of these stories. Kit Morgan is a wonderful author and her stories make me laugh. Thank you Kit for writing and sharing this story with me.
Murder mystery, adventure, romance! And not a wasted word! The characters are hilarious, the bad guys mostly very bad and the surprise at the end never telegraphed!!! Good read.
Sweet, clean romance. Nice change from too many private details that all follow the same format. This book had a little more substance than the others in the series I've read, still left plenty of dropped threads but no cliff hangers.
A mail order bride with a bit of mystery. I liked Sophie and Vander together. Unfortunately, Sophie got into a bit of trouble and it wasn’t even her doing. They try to figure out the mystery as they fall for one another. Good story.
This was a delightful story! It was different than the others in the series in that it was an old fashioned detective story, love story and lots of action. True love wins out in the end!
I liked this book but it wasn't the same caliber of the Dear Mr. Books... I don't know but it just wasn't as wild and spun up as the others... and although I enjoyed it.. It was just missing a little something for me...
So Kit Morgan is the author that I stumbled across last year that introduced me to the whole mail order bride/western historical romance/kindle book thing. I have loved everything that I've read by her and this is no different. You really can't go wrong reading any book by Kit Morgan.
