Dominque Dunne appeared in several films and television series from 1979 to 1982, but was best known for portraying the oldest daughter in the 1982 horror film Poltergeist.
She seemed destined for stardom until tragedy struck on October 30th, 1982. Dominique was strangled by her ex-boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney, in the driveway of her West Hollywood home and went into a coma. She never regained consciousness and died five days later.
This is a well-written account of the murder of young up-and-coming actress Dominique Dunne by her abusive, controlling ex-boyfriend, John Sweeney.
This is one of the reasons all children should be taught self-defense at an early age. Children should also be assured of their self-worth so they don't put up with this kind of behavior and don't forgive their abusers and "give them another chance." If that sounds un-Christian to you, you must believe Christ wants you to be abused and murdered.
Erica Thomas's book on the murder of the lovely and talented Dominique Dunne is a accurate account of the young actress's murder at the hands of her abusive ex-boyfriend. However, at 42 pages long the book is extremely short and only tells what most of us already knew. However, the book is a haunting reminder of the domestic abuse that many women live with.
