my favourite volume!! things just got real

Things got real in this one—they've been encountering a lot of innocuous ayakashi so far but this was a wakeup call for Ashiya that things can still get dangerous. I like that the narrative doesn't just brush that incident aside and shows how it affects him even after some time has passed and how he works to overcome that mental block. The mystery surrounding whatever power or presence is sleeping inside of Ashiya thickens.

On another note, the kappa was so freaking cute! The part where he was splashing water on Ashiya's head to help him feel better made me smile. I think that also led to Ashiya finally having a good cry and releasing that emotional burden of pretending everything is okay.

I had decided to give up on this series a long time ago but then I got back into it. I adore the characters and the fact that MC is just too cute to be hated. After rereading the series and getting better aquanted with the characters and plot i can tell that this has a great story line and the art is fabulous.

This is one of the best series I've read so far! Yokai manga can also be cute, funny and entertaining! We get to know creepier yokai and the tone shifted a little in this volume.

I really liked the kappa. It was too cute when he kept coming back and splashing Ashiya's hair in an attempt to make him feel better. I love it :)

now that we're getting more involved with the government of the underworld, the plot of this story is finally starting to get exciting. im really liking this so far

This is where things really started hitting the feels for this characters. The introduction of the final head of the underworld changed the way this story flowed from a relaxed but meaningful adventure to something with consequences. There is now a source of prolonged fear as apposed to the previous situations where the sources of fear were more often misunderstanding or prejudices. This is not a misunderstanding. And that scene was built so well. wow.
Then we see Abeno try and give distance for Ashiya to calm down. And it's a nice character trait that Ashiya refuses to be let off from work because he knows that starting that would start a cycle which would likely prevent him from ever coming back again. And it works, being unable to relax into his fear he's able to continue as himself, as an employee who's brave and caring.

何か、話を知りたっかたから夜遅くても読み続けた。

一晩で三つの単行本を読んだ。アタシにとってはすごいスピードだ。

この巻を読んでただ一つのことだけ思った：あしやかわいそう。ああゆう扱い方は恐ろしい。行政さまはひどい。

ヤヒコのいたずらも悪過ぎた。私の知りたいことは安部の目はいつも黄色だよね。あしやの目も威光を使った時に黄色になった。なんか関係あるのかな？
