Seduction of the Bear is a shifter story with heart.
It is the introductory novella to a new shifter series from new to me author Rachel Robins.

Kate is coming out of a terrible marriage. Her douchebag husband cheated on her then kicked her out. She is determined to prove her independence and get her life back on track.
Austin is a Bear shifter. He has lots of really good shifter friends and owns the newest trendy bar in town. But Austin is lonely. He feels a darkness looming within him and it grows every day that he doesn't find his mate.

When they meet, Austin knows instantly that Kate is his mate. He tries hard to subdue his joy and possessiveness.
Even though Kate finds him intense and sexy, her life is a mess and she has no intentions of getting involved.

I love everything about this novella. It's an engaging read with a great storyline and interesting characters. It has the usual growly possessiveness and insta-love that you find in most shifter stories, but it also has heart.
I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This is the first book I have read by Rachel Robins and I enjoyed it, it is a sweet bear shifter story. I have only given it four stars as it is quite short, easily read in one sitting, which was good as I didn't want to put it down. Austin is a bar owner and bear shifter, who given up on ever finding his true mate. Kate life is a mess, she just divorced her cheating husband who has kicked her out of her home, so she's looking for a job and somewhere to live so she can regain her independence, she certainly doesn't want another man. They meet when Kate goes to Austin bar on a girls night out. Austin instantly knows Kate is his fated mate but Kate's not interested in getting hurt again. But then her ex shows up and attacks them, so they have to work together. If you want to know what happens you're just going to have to read the book to find out as I hate when reviewers give away too much of the story and spoil it for other readers. I voluntarily read this book to review.

I received an arc copy of this book and I want to voluntarily leave a review. It's a short story so it only took a couple of hours to read. I haven't read any books by this author before but I liked her style. It's got a very special feeling about it as there is a lot of love and happiness at the end and some things to overcome. I hope there will be more stories from this storyline and by this author. I want to read more and I think you will too. Anyone who likes to read paranormal books should give this book a chance to show you how it's done.

One of the appeals of reading shifter romance is the 'love at first sight' of the shifter's mate and in Seduction of the Bear Austin recognizes Kate as his mate the first time he sets eyes on her in his club, The Kamp.

Kate has no experience with shifters and knows nothing of their customs, so she feels she has met Austin before and is drawn to him but is not ready for a new relationship because she is fresh out of a marriage and her divorce is not final yet.

The story moves quickly, has an element of danger and problems from Kate's ex and a misunderstanding to overcome. All of this gives the plot an element of suspense as Austin and Kate learn how to relate as mates and find a happy ever after.

I borrowed Seduction of the Bear from the Kindle Unlimited lending program.

Kate has just been informed by her husband that he has found another woman and she had to leave. So Kate has a night out with her girls to a shifter bar. She gets a little loaded by the end of the night. The owner of the bar, Austin, is a bear shifter who never expected to have a fated mate until Kate walked into his bar. This is a short story with some action, steamy romance and a happily ever after.

Storytelling

Rachel your bear story was a good novella, I started reading but soon realized this was not my favor writing style to read. You had ask for a critique of the book so I finished it. I prefer to read the characters in the 1st person. The dragon story was fair I felt the where nuances I was missing. I have the next book in your series I look forward to watching you progress with your storytelling.

Seduction of the Bear

Austin is a bear shifter and owner of a bar. Kate is recently divorced and goes to his bar with friends. The instant he smells her he knows she is his fated mate. Her ex is creating problems and being generally nasty.

Bear Kamp

Fun sexy shifter short story. Just wish it was longer. Loved the characters who were colorful and fun. This story was followed by a saga of witches, warlocks, dragons and war and love.

I really enjoyed the characters in this story and I also like the story itself. It was a great quick read, BUT What.The.Heck...they talk so much about the mating bond and then they didn't even "show" the ceremony. It ended with Kate telling Austin she was ready for it, and that was it.

I waited the whole two hours to finally hear that happen and then it didn't. That totally killed the whole thing for me.

I felt like I had been having a good convo with someone and they just turned around and left in the middle of it without saying anything else.

Overall though, if not hearing the mating ceremony won't bother you, its a perfect short read. Great story, fun characters and a good narrator.

I was given this free copy of this audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review

An intriguing paranormal tale about a wife being 'replaced by a younger model' and her way to overcome the feeling of rejection and having wasted her life on a man not worthy of her efforts.
Rachel Robins explores the depth of the emotional rollercoaster her heroine goes through and how she emerges at the other end stronger and happier than she's ever been.

Kate, soon to be divorced from Derek, doesn't know where to turn. She's been a house wife since college but now Derek wants his new girlfriend and wants her out of his house. When her best friend Emma suggests a night out with the girls, Kate drags herself along. Austen, a bear shifter owns the new bar in town. He is lonely and has all but given up on ever finding his mate until Kate walks in.
This is such a cute story. I always find it endearing when these big bad shifters fall in love. The macho exterior falls away and all that's left is sweetness.
Ms. Robins is pretty good at fleshing out the emotions in this story. I just wish she fleshed out the characters a little more. We really didn't get a description of anyone to put that picture in your mind of who this person was. But considering the fact this is a short story/novella, she did a very good job.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This was cute! I already knew I was going to like Austin because of how Kate's story begun. Her husband's a cheating kind of guy that doesn't think much of others if it doesn't benefit him, as is obvious with the way he treats Kate after almost a decade together. Kate's grown timid and insecure, but after a wild night with her friends, a certain bear shifter- one who's been in the slumps for a time -gets inspired and becomes her own inspiration in the fields of love.

So this is a pretty short read, but well satisfying. The writing style was good, pretty personal with the POVs. The characters were all great with their own personalities but I think a little more delving in would've sealed the deal for me. Derek (Kate's loser man) is the obvious jerk and bad guy in this, but I didn't really get his full story, I had to put my whole trust in Kate to not have a biased story (which is lol you know). He was kinda there/ kinda not and it was just things like that, that would take me out of the story. Curse my curious mind! Anyway it's short, sweet and fast with a bit of a hot scene or two for your shifter-romance enjoyment. And seriously, who doesn't like a bear that'd worship the ground you walked on?

Bear shifters seem clumsy and wordless when they are in the presence of their soul mate. Austin is also sweet and goofy, but when he becomes overprotective, he is just what Kate needs as it reveals his strength, grace and power. This is a fun read with great characters. I am looking forward to more romance from the Bear Kamp bar.

Kate and Derek finally split up in a very ugly scene. She knew he had been cheating, and now he was coldly dismissing her from his life. He told her the house was his and he wanted her out. She spent a week isolated in her room, but now she reached out to her friend, Emma, to help give her emotional support to get on with her life. That would start with a girls’ night out at new bar with friends!

Austin finished up what he was going and headed to his new bar. He had hired good people to work for him, and they already had the bar opened and set up for business. For himself, he sat near the door each night and let people assume he was the bouncer. But tonight, something was different. After years of looking, he had just scented his mate! She made him feel whole again. He walked over and introduced himself. At the touch of her hand, his eyes glowed and a quiet rumbling came from his chest. She startled, and recognized him as a shifter. She was timid, but he bought her a drink and they continued talking until a group of women joined Kate and Emma. It was then that he overheard them console her about the end of her marriage.

Austin was furious that Kate’s ex had broken her spirit. He sat back in his usual spot and watched her, just as she kept watching him from the dance floor. Then he approached and asked for a dance. She felt so drawn to him, as if she had known him before. But after the dance, she panicked at feeling so much for this stranger. She would not let herself be controlled by another cruel man. She would be safer alone!

This was a very well written story that I definitely enjoyed. The characters were well described and drew the reader into their lives. The danger that was coming kept the suspense up kept the reader engaged in the story. I definitely recommend this one!

I gave it 4 stars,it was well wrote, I enjoyed it. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was, it was just to short of a store that could of had a little more, suspense.

Seduction of the Bear may be a quick story, but it holds a powerful tale within. Austin has reached an age where he feels he’s not likely to meet his detained mate. Middle age for a human is one thing, but that age is a bit older for a bear shifter. Just when he had given up on finding her, there she was in his bar. Obviously hurting but trying to stand tall. He was hooked, now he simply had to convince a human that she belonged with him.

Kate is about as down as a woman can feel. Her husband, make that soon to be ex-husband, has cheated on her and now she’s been kicked to the curb. No really, kicked out. She’s out with friends to try to escape for a bit, maybe wrap her mind around what she’s supposed to do now. She wasn’t looking for another man… no way. Yet this intense man has been watching her all night long and when they touch to dance, well her reaction to him is off the charts. Maybe there’s life after being betrayed after all.

It’s unfortunate that Kate’s ex is going to play the “I don’t want her but I don’t want anyone else to have her” game. But he’ll learn his lesson… the hard way.

I enjoyed Austin and Kate’s romance. There’s plenty of interesting people around the bar, friends of Austin’s we may see in the future. The knowledge of shifter mating customs is not widely known among humans so Kate really didn’t know what she was getting into with Austin. But the draw to this man is strong enough to take the risk. I definitely enjoyed her ex learning a few lessons along the way, especially after what a slime ball he was.

If you’re in the food for a quick and intriguing Shifter Romance, then Seduction of the Bear may be just what you’re looking for. I’m looking forward to the next story in this series.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Ehh

Liked the idea behind the book but parts of the story were too fast and had grammatical errors that were distracting. Would love to read more of her developed books.

Kate, a housewife, thinks she isn't worthy of being loved after being married for 9 years to Derrick, a wealthy man who cheated on her and sent her packing. Austin is a bear shifter who is trying to live his life as normal as possible, in a bar that he owns, and longs to find his mate. On the night Derrick tells Kate he wants her gone, Kate and friends walk into Austin's bar, and as they say, it was kismet. I just wish I knew more about what happens with Derrick because he deserves some hell in his life and to be dropped down a peg or two. Would also like to know the story behind Austin's cook Mike. The story overall is so adorable and heartfelt. Hoping a book about Emma and Jasper happens*hint hint*
