They say once bitten, twice shy. But I’ve never really been a fast learner.
You don’t forget the man who leaves you in the dust – literally, driving off as you stand there sobbing, clutching your borrowed prom dress and shoes.
You certainly don’t fall in love with him when you see him again after spending the better part of 15 years imagining his painful death from a fall off a cliff into a pit of hungry alligators.
Well, you shouldn’t. Should you? No, you definitely SHOULDN’T. Got it.
So explain to me why, 15 years after that fateful night, am I standing here face to face with last man I ever wanted to see again, Finn O’Reilly, thinking, he is still the sexiest man I’ve ever seen?
He does sell his apology well. Arrogant prick, always so damned charming.
To make things worse, now I’m stuck with him for a week...in Paris. Good thing there’s shopping and restaurants and museums to keep me busy.
Right? Right.
Then why can’t I think of anything else other than knocking on his hotel door and telling him to pick up where we left off; no, not the dust leaving part, the hot, steamy, fog up the car windows kissing part.
Question is, after 15 years, can I really forgive him for what he did? And how will I handle it, if all he wants is a week of ‘what happens in Paris, stays in Paris’?
Maybe the only reason broken hearts heal, are to get broken again.
Once Bitten is a sweet and sexy second chance romance by Bella Hunt, there are no cliff-hangers, no cheating scenarios, and happily ever afters await the main characters. It’s the getting there that’s the fun part.
Soooo many red flags! Run away! It’s told starting just after the inviting incident and then in flashbacks. And I still didn’t like the hero. Finn doesn’t deserve one of my favorite names. To recap: at 17, our fair H has loved the h for 10 years, but he acts like a jerk around her. She has crushed on him too. She is bffs with his twin. He asks her to high school prom. Where he proceeds to get very, very drunk (why is he driving?), takes the h to a parking lot and starts to make out with her and when she stops him from going further, he tells her he hates her and only asked her out to get his car back. What a jerk! Then he makes her get out of the car and drives off. He is so cruel. And that just soured me to him for the rest of the book. Later you find out he went back to get her, but she was gone. And apparently he wasn’t that guilt ridden as he never had anything to do with her for FIFTEEN years! You’re an ass, Finn.
So 15 years later, they have to go on a business trip to Paris , where he forces her to sit by him for the duration of the flight and keeps apologizing. After ignoring her wishes. They become lovers because h has no spine. He only promises the week of the trip. Why? Well, he’s hiding his wife from her. Heroine finds out when said wife shows up on the night he recreates prom night for h. Heroine rightfully ditches his butt. Sorry, but that is one too many lies for me. He explains he broke his vows for her. How romantic. ::eye roll But then wife shows up back in the USA to explain to h that it’s a green card marriage so their affair is perfectly fine. He’s asked for a divorce but h has wife tear it up because wife needs green card. AUGH! Your cat deserves a better owner, h. He broke her heart and she still wasn’t over it 15 years later. You don’t need a man, h, you need therapy. Book ends with them together and she’s very pregnant on the day of his divorce. I might have thrown up a bit in my mouth.

Finn is one lucky man after screwing up at prom, then screwing it up again 15 years later Kara has every right to walk away but luckily for Finn his wife and twin sister step in and explain to Kara the last debacle could and can be over come. Lucky man to have such an understanding wife. So in the end Kara and Finn do eventually get at HEA it was just a long time in the making.
This story was okay for me. Don’t get me wrong this was a cute second chance romance, but it seemed so rushed and a little unrealistic. I wish we had more of Finn’s POV.
