descriptionAgain like book one we have an awesome cover for this book. Great representation of the story (obviously.) Fantastic composition. Nice typography with an eye-catching title. The light blue on the B&W background really makes it POP. It's also similar to book one so good unity within the series.description

descriptionThis one starts off right where book one left us. Thea and Cam are in the angel realm but the powers that be separate them. Thea begins her training, and there are obstacles thrown in their path at every opportunity. When an assignment sets Cam on a path towards darkness, things go from bad to worse.

description

I enjoyed this one a smidge less than I did book one. This one dragged a bit through the middle for me. That said I still found it extremely well written. I enjoyed the change of setting for this book. We learn more about the angel realm and angels in general. There were twists and turns. Some angst. Some drama. Some hot sex scenes. Some new and interesting secondary characters are introduced. Both main characters were likable (for the most part.) I am still struggling with Thea a bit. I just don't like her sometimes. She comes across too harsh or whiny. Something. I can't put my finger on what exactly but it is keeping me from completely liking her. Cam, on the other hand, is pretty much perfect in this one.

So like I said I enjoyed it. We are left hanging again with another cliffhanger so I will try and wait patiently for the third (and final) book to come out. Two thumbs up from yours truly.description

5+ Anti-angel hotness stars
I loved the first book in this trilogy but this beautiful baby just amped it up for me tenfold. I love alpha males, I love anti-heroes and I now love anti-alpha Power Angels.

This book picks up where Claimed by Power drops off-when Cam brings Thea to the Angel Realm. We get a whole new word explained to us through Thea's curiosity and the Author explains this very well with lots of interesting details but what I was the most absorbed into was the relationship between our H and H- I LOVED IT. Anyone who has read my reviews knows that I'm a big fan of the alpha males and Zoey Ellis really stepped it up with this book. I could feel his intensity and longing for her, his possessiveness and jealousy was sexy as hell and her dealing with Cam and the things that he's going through was perfect. Perfect. I don't have time to read right now, I was even expecting it to take me several days to get through this but I could not put this book down. My kids are probably starving BUT I finally got to finish a book :D

I'm now going to go stalk this author until she gives me the 3rd book!

Now this is just my opinion but I feel like Zoey Ellis is going to be an author that will be a force in the paranormal romance reads. Her stories are exceptional and I cannot put them down. She draws you in from the beginning and won’t release her hold on you until you are good and ready.
If you read the first in this powerful series, then you know it ends in a cliffhanger. This is the second in the trilogy and will end in a cliffy as well. I am normally one to stay away from cliffies until they are all out. This story though, OH EM GEE! I cannot get enough of the world Zoey created.
Too much power can ruin you and everything that means the most to you. I could NOT put this book down once I picked it up. I was anxious, nervous, and hopeful as I read. I really love Cam and Thea and have been team Thea since the beginning.
When we left off Thea had just entered the Angel Realm. I felt for Thea in this story. She has grown so much and at the same time is still scared and unsure of many things. Thea uses her knowledge to her advantage and quickly starts to blend in. With her history we are given so many more clues and snippets that make you want to know it all. You have to wait until the third for the answers but if you are like me, you are itching to know. My heart felt for Thea as she realized what being in the Angel Realm means and what she misses in the human world. She gives up so much of her comforts and securities only to have Cam not acknowledge them in the right way.
Cam goes even further from what I thought he would. To me the second in this series focuses more on Cam and what he’s been through and has to endure. Cam has more internally to overcome. There was one point with Asteroth that I was like WHUAT?!?!
Can I say I want Zak’s story! I’m thinking Amber needs a HEA too LOL. I’m so vested in these characters.
I really don’t want to spoil but there are so many surprises that come about. There is a lot of turmoil, heart break, and just real emotions. When everything clicked for Thea with Cam I was cheering but then he had his trials and tribulations I was feeling dread. I thought it was too late. There was a shocker point and I am now anxiously awaiting the third in the series. My chuckle moment is how she made sure everyone called her Thea. Love how she reserved that side of her for Cam.
No matter what I type it won’t do this story justice. Zoey has made me so vested in this series. The complexity of these characters is such a way that there are so many levels and sides to them. I said in my first review that I was team Thea and this book only solidified my stance. No matter what happens, I just want her to come out on top. I have my theories and I’m going to keep it to myself.
We learn more about Thea’s past in this one. We also see how she rises and struggles to live in the Angel Realm. She has to find inner strength that I don’t think she knew she possessed. While guilt eats at her in some spots, she tries to rise above it and become stronger.
Cam is facing his biggest challenges yet. He is the Power angel that in his mind will protect the Realm, but at what cost. Cam’s arrogance got to me in this story. I had so many struggling emotions with this male lead. I LOVED that. He had so many non angelic qualities it made for an interesting character.
Zoey has outdone herself in my opinion. The first sucked me in to her world, but this one, the second has vested me into this series as a whole. I would recommend this to anyone that loves angels/demons and paranormal love.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

Things really heat up this time around!

Thea's excitement of finally visiting the Angel Realm is squashed when she learns that the angels have plans for her. Plans that her trainer and lover, Cam, has no idea about and cannot interfere with. Plans that will pry them apart when they've just come back together. To make matters worse, Thea has a hard time getting answers out of anyone, including Cam.

Cam is wrecked to discover that his intention to make Thea his mate and partner may never come to pass. Not only are the angels over him determined to use Thea for their own secret means, but they also want Cam to take up a cause that leaves him tormented and close to the edge of losing his control, entirely. Thea is his only hope for coming back to himself but even she may not be able to save him.

Whew. This book was intense. I don't think I took a deep breath the entire time because there was a high level of tension throughout the whole story, starting from the first chapter. I knew when I finished the first book that this one would be a roller coaster, but I didn't expect it to get this heavy. There were layers upon layers of conflict happening and our characters were torn in different directions. At times, I wasn't sure who to really trust or believe.

I should forewarn that the story does veer into dark romance territory here. Not incredibly, but more than I thought it would. But it wasn't a bad thing, though. The love scenes were hot, explicit, and plentiful, with our hero being a dominant lover and very protective (when he can be) over our heroine. However, it's our hero who ends up needing to be saved and I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out in the next and final book of the series.

As for the plot? Wow. It got a lot more complicated as the story progressed. Thea's mysterious parentage comes into play here and her potential mating with Cam hangs in the balance. There is more than one group of angels standing in the way of our couple's happy ending. But the biggest threat might be Cam, himself. I can't lie, it was hard to watch him battle his demons and see he and Thea drift apart. That was painful to witness because he's been such a strong presence in the series so far.

But that ending? Whoa. I was not prepared for that. I knew there was a cliffhanger here, so I had an idea when it got near the end that something would happen. But the something wasn't what I thought it would be. And I don't know how Thea and Cam will make it out of this situation. I'm almost scared to find out but I'm still rooting for them, all the way.

In closing...
An angels and demons adventure filled with secrets, sex, and surprises. Four suns!

An addictive, emotional and sexy read
Just wow! Ruined by Power, the second book in the Empire of Angels series, is one hell of an addictive and sexy read. The tempestuous relationship between Power Angel Cam and half angel Thea continues apace in a spellbinding read with action taking pace in the Angel Realm and the human world.
In the previous book Claimed by Power, Cam was reluctantly sent on a mission to train the Nephilim Thea, who was previously unaware of both her heritage and her powers. Although both try to resist the pull between them Cam realises that Thea is his natural mate and he takes Thea to the Angel Realm determined to make her his. However, in this read we witness how Cam’s superiors have other plans for Thea and seem to know a lot more about her parentage than what they are willing to reveal…
A combination of internal politics and their respective duties conspire to keep the couple apart until they partner on a mission of great personal interest to Thea, one which forces her to confront painful issues from her past. It is an emotional time for Thea and my heart went out for her: she is trying to come to terms with her new life in the Angel Realm; the loss of her life in the human world; finding out about her family and the challenges of her relationship with Cam. When she discovers that Cam has not been entirely truthful about his own past her confidence in him is lost and she begins to question her trust in him. Cam is such a damaged alpha male, unused to dealing with the emotions of humans, and despite some of his actions I found it impossible not to love him.
I enjoyed how Thea’s character grew in maturity in this instalment in the face the major upheavals in her life. Can she trust Cam? Can she trust those in charge of the Angel Realm? When Cam is sent on a dangerous mission he begins to descend into darkness, a darkness that Thea is not sure she can cope with. Nevertheless I was rooting for Cam too as his determination to make Tea his is thwarted at every turn.
The plot is full of action, suspense and scorching scenes of passion between the couple. I enjoyed finding out more about the Angel Realm and its role in protecting and supporting the human world and combatting demon kind. The author does an excellent job of world building and also introducing the reader to a number of secondary characters, some of whom play a key role in the story. I was particularly interested in Zak and Asteroth and would be very interested to learn their stories too.
The read ends on a major cliff hanger, which I did not see coming, and it is fortunate that the next book is due for release in August as I am impatient to find out what happens next! Recommended for fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, especially where readers enjoy damaged alpha heroes and strong heroines.
Please note that an ARC of this book was given to me by the author for the purpose of  fair and honest review.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This totally made me cry with that cliffhanger. I liked this series and really got into the drama between Thea and Cam, and with the stakes getting higher and the angels forcing their laws and expectations on them, it totally made for an exciting read. I love their relationship and the things they went through. The darker stuff was intense in the best way, I really resonated with that and how they dealt with it. The ending really made it feel like things were cut off without leaving me with something, and I seriously need the third book. If you love angels, definitely check this out cause Ellis brings the angel world to life with the different ranks, and makes you think if they're really what you know about them.

This installment of this paranormal romance trilogy was well written and well edited, with few if any typos and well constructed sentences. This is the middle book of this trilogy and it ends on a cliffhanger instead of a Happy Ever After or Happy For Now ending. I thought this novel had both high stakes (external conflict) and high angst (internal conflict), so I enjoyed that structural choice quite a bit. The world building of this romance trilogy has been excellent, with most of this second novel taking place in the Angel Realm and familiarizing both the reader and the heroine with the Angel Realm and angel society and the rules of this paranormal world. The characterization in this novel was superb, with the hero and heroine of this novel both being vibrant sympathetic characters that really come to life on the page. The author's choice to structure this romance as a trilogy really enables her to do in-depth character description, growth, and change over the space of three books instead of just one. This novel is about three flames in heat level, with descriptive steamy love scenes between the hero and heroine but no toys or kink play. This novel was an excellent middle installment in this trilogy for this reader. My preference is not to read romance novel trilogies featuring the same couple over multiple books that the first two novels end on cliffhangers. I usually avoid novels in that format like the plague and usually won't read authors who write in that format at all, as a general rule. I like my romance novels to all have an HEA ending. I am not usually a fan of HFN endings because they are not emotionally satisfying for me, and I detest things in media which have cliffhanger endings. This trilogy is an excellent example of that form of media, so I recommend it without reservation to readers who enjoy or get hooked into media with cliffhanger endings. I took off one star just because of my personal distaste for cliffhanger endings, but readers who enjoy them will probably give this novel a five star rating.

“Ruined by Power” is really act two of a three act (book) story. In the “Empire of Angels” Zoey Ellis returns to a tried and true format she’s seemed to developed, following a single couple/ story line threw the publishing of three novels and some 700 (give or take 100) pages. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining, as the read I’ve loved the more detailed journeys she’s taking us on.

Cam is a Dominion or Power Angel. The special forces/ rock stars of the celestial heavens. He’s been tasked with training Thea a half-angel, not an assignment usually considered a good use of a powers time. Not surprisingly our grumpy hero isn’t thrilled.

However it isn’t long before odd things start occurring and it becomes very obvious that Thea is no run of the mill 1/2 angel. It doesn’t help that spark never fail when these two are in a room together. Cam initially fights his attraction. Fails miserably and then just as he’s finally resigned to accept the gift of love the universe has sent his way now needs to fight to protect from allowing circumstances from pulling them apart.

Book one ended on a cliff hanger and book two dives right in where book one left off. I highly recommend you plan to read all three back to back.

I really enjoyed the series having two of my fav ingredients. 1) a strong female lead in Thea. Our leading lady is not going to stand on the sidelines and hope that the world sorts itself out. She’s going to wade right in and fight along side her power angel. And 2) a strong protective leading man. One who knows the distinction between support and smother.

Zoey Ellis delivers yet another thrilling riveting scorching hot story. In this sequel to Claim by Power, Thea and Cam continue to grow in each other’s love, enhancing their natural mates connection. Thea agrees to Cam’s suggestion of trying out living in the Angel Realm with him. However things don’t turn out to be as they had expected once the get to there. Unfortunately, the angels in charge have an interest in Thea and want her to be trained by one of their best. Suddenly, Cam and Thea find themselves on a mission to find Thea’s lost mother who was once believed to be dead. Then Cam is giving a new assignment that has him going to the human world, spending human days apart from Thea. As Thea is growing in her powers, Cam is growing more and more consumed by the darkness he relies on to battle demons. There are so many secrets, mysteries, and tons of complicated layers with turns and twists. At one point it seems that Cam and Thea are left alone to grapple with the enormity of their missions. And then, the ultimate act happens, leaving me mouth wide open! This was one hell of a story- the plot twists where unbelievably outstanding, making me put down the book a few times to catch my breath, yet unable to close the book. I cannot wait for the next one!

Ugh so this went downhill fast.

After the first book a was very much on the fence about this whole angel romance thing. Well o🥲I have fallen off the fence 😡

First and foremost to each their own if this world and story is working for you I get it enjoy. Sadly for me nothing is working. I have issues with this world and how things are done and designed.

The whole Timelapse thing with an angel realm day equal to a human world week I get it but I’m not a fan. Playing into this I am over obsessed with timelines like I have a serious problem. When she gets back to the human world Cam tells her it’s been 3 human months also known as 12 angel realm days which means she went through this intense next level training established a friendship with Dani and started her first assignment all in 12 days !

Cam’s assignment is also way too much and too important for one angel and his logic for why it had to just be him made no sense.

In general this whole story moves way to slowly. Having finished it was clearly the author was slowly building to the end of this story. I was just flat out bored most of this book and forcing myself to finish.

The worst part is I have a horrible time not finishing books so even though I hate this I’ll probably read the third book just to have everything explained and concluded.

Zoey Ellis please stick to omegaverse in the future 🙏

*spoilers*
It’s the second book in the trilogy. It’s as good as the first book if not a little better. Thea and Cam’s story continues but in the Angel Realm mainly. Thea gets her first big assignment. Which is to look for her mom who is MIA not dead. She having to deal with all kinds of stuff on top of that. Like having her dad’s mind healed to maybe get answers, worry she isn’t part angel but something dark, being away from Amber, more training and just being in the Angel Realm. Cam gets a big solo assignment that rough for him even if he doesn’t want to admit it. Cam is battling his rage big time. It consumes him to a point it worries Thea. I ended the first book not wanting to smack Cam but he gets so blind to his issues. Smacking him just sounds really good. I really want to read the third book to find out how it ends with Thea and Cam. This book ended with so much hanging but in a good way if that makes any sense. I would definitely encourage anyone to grab this trilogy and read!

Absolutely LOVED this

*** UPDATED REVIEW ***

Firstly I would like to give the lovely author a HUGE thank you for kindly providing me with a copy of "Ruined By Power" to read and review.

Since the first book both Thea & Cam have come along way in terms of their relationship and trust issues, will they be able to survive further turmoil, misconceptions, interfering & personal demons.....

Thea embarks on honing her skills and developing them more and more each day whilst being in the Angel Realm, waiting for Cam to have his meeting with the Thrones to determine their future, to determine whether they can truly mate one another, to determine whether Thea is actually a Nephilim

Cam hasn't felt this way in a very long time, he's frightened he may do something wrong, something to push Thea away from him when he's only just got her back on his side, what will happen when an urgent mission takes him away from her weeks at a time?

I will pre-warn you though there is a cliffhanger at the end....one that may/may not have guessed....AND we have to wait until AUGUST to find out what happens next!!!!!

Amount of sex 5 / 5
How explicit 4 / 5
Story 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

Review: Thea's and Cam's story continues in Ruined by Power (thank goodness!). While there is still a lot of action in this story, the book gets more intimate with the characters. Most of the story takes place in the Angel Realm, as Thea's training continues. There is a lot more spicy physical action in the book as Thea and Cam explore their relationship. While the characters are pushed and pulled apart, this doesn't seem to impede the physical relationship between the characters. You definitely need to read the first book and this book has a cliffhanger (which is sooooo awesome).

Ellis gives the characters lots to process and obstacles that are far from predictable in this new world of angels. I also love the addition of some new characters in the Angel Realm - Dani and Asteroth.

Ruined by Power is great and I highly recommend it!

Oh, someone's amping things up! This man is turning up the heat and he doesn't even work for that side! Angels are the theme of this book of course and in this one this poor h is learning, as are we, more about her life and what has been going on and what will. Her will might not her her own and he is going to ensure she stays with him.

She is his, but some want her away from him...

And our guy will not let that happen! I have every confidence that things will of course get better. But while the don't, drama in a good way. This man takes care of her. The tension..wow. The air was thick and it was throughout but again, in a good way and in an enjoyable way. I appreciate the details and world building. But also my goodness, the attraction and chemistry between our leads is so good. I can't imagine what is next and it's going to be the last part of this series! Yikes. But hey, I look forward to see how this is going to go!

I'm so happy that I finally got to find out what happened after that zinger of a cliffhanger in the first book! The fight between Thea and the demons is a pretty good one! I also love how you get a lot more time in the angel realm. But I do think it is sad that the time is so different and Thea ends up missing out on things with her family.

Cam and Thea seem to finally make a break through in their relationship only for Cam to go on an assignment that changes how he acts. Thea is now being trained by angels for her own assignment. . . One that could completely change how she looks at her past. Both these things weigh on Thea and Cams relationship. And then Cam does something to Thea that may not be able to forgive. . . .

Once again there is a pretty big cliffhanger but all the books are out now so you definitely just want to buy the whole series!

At the end of Claimed by Power I had no clue where Zoey was going to take us. Where she took us, I would never have imagined! I was so surprised at every turn in all of the best ways. Thea's character did so much growing in this book and we got to learn so much more about Cam throughout this whole story. Thea really took on her role so seriously and so well! And Cam, he was so much different than I'd imagined. There was a point where he even scared me some, but Thea new how to take care of him. There were so many twists and turns with these characters that I can't wait to see where Zoey takes us next. The cliffhanger at the end is a fairly bad one, but at least we got the warning!!! Can't wait to see what happens!!!

Empire of Angels… Part two of a trilogy

Cam and Thea’s visit to the Angel Realm results in a new directive for Thea – one it seems that the Dominion League had in mind all along. When Cam’s latest solo assignment adversely impacts his already strained relationship with Thea, can he convince her he’s not the monster she’s encountered? This installment felt overly long to me. Perhaps it was due to the seemingly never ending struggles in Cam and Thea’s relationship. There’s some violence, drama, and mystery, along with several very steamy encounters. Based on the cliffhanger of this installment, the conclusion of Thea and Cam’s story in Awakened by Power should prove quite interesting. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Ruined By Power continues with the story of Cam, a Power angel and the Angel Realms fiercest warrior, and his mate Thea, half human half angel. Cam takes Thea with him to the Angel Realm while he waits to hear back from
the Thrones to approve their mating. As he waits, Cam takes an assignment to vanquish Legion demons from the human world. Soon Cam is overcome with rage the more time he spends killing demons, which slowly begins to seep into his relationship with Thea and has her a little fearful of his new behavior. One particular battle between Cam and the Legion demons leaves Thea nearly dying and is a wake up call for Cam, but is it too late? Book 2 ends in a cliffhanger and leaves us wondering if Cam’s brutal anger has cost him his mate.

ONE INCREDIBLE READ!!!
Crash and burn! Zoey totally nailed this bad boy 100% on point realism with a bounty of spinning emotions running rampant blasting this bad boy wide open. The drama, uncertainty, danger and suspense increases while tension spirals. One fantastic storyline and gripping plot that propels this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. Carefully traversing the trials and tribulations, witnessing the twists and turns as our characters personalities blend and flow. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Awesome job Zoey, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Cam is a Power angel, a fierce warrior of the Angel Realms. Thea is half human half angel whom Cam hopes to have as his mate if the Thrones approve. But the angels have their own plans for Thea that Cam is not permitted to interfere with as Thea is trained by someone else for an assignment.

Cam is sent to Earth to drive Legion demons from the human world and finds himself increasingly overtaken by rage and darkness as he kills more and more demons. The change in him starts to affect his relationship with Thea, and even she may not be able to help him regain control.

There are twists and turns to this book that keep the reader on edge and eagerly following the fast-paced story line. Grab your copy and be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you eager for more!

I'm going to save my more in-depth thoughts for book 3, but I will say that I think pacing was better in this book. A lotttt more happened. I still feel like I'm missing real relationship development, though.

Mostly, these books just make me all the more impressed about the rest of Zoey's books. It's pretty clear that this is her early work, but the way her writing improves even 1 year later with her first Myth of Omega book is kind of insane.

At this point I can't really say I would recommend this particular series, but that's because it's not even a little bit indicative of the rest of her writing. They're a good filler for any other already-established fans (as we wait for new releases!) but I wouldn't direct any new readers to this series first.

The story gets darker and while Cam was very protective of Thea, I kind of see her as weak. Yes, she continued her training, but all she does is waits for Cam to come back from his mission. Cam acts like he can deal with everything he endures and takes care of Thea at the same time. Well... this doesn't end well. The way the book ended broke my heart and I actually cried. That makes the book a good one. The story got so complicated that I didn't know how all of this would end.

This second book in the series picks up right where the 1st book ended. I must say I enjoyed this book more than the first. Both the H and h struggle in this book to work through their new life in the Angel Realm and their relationship. Constantly bombarded by interference from others along with the assignments they each have to work through, not to mention, Thea's mom becomes a bigger question mark for Thea in this book. Constant turmoil and questioning trust issues appear. Cam takes on a very long term demon assignment that takes him to the outer edges of his rage that eventually leads to a dramatic and dark cliffhanger. Great read! 3rd book is a must!

I enjoyed this book a lot. The previous one was good, but this is awesome. The narrative rythm was improved, the characters and the plot evolved nicely and I can't be more in love with the story. Thea and Cam has to fight some difficult battles, and the cliffhanger at the end is crazy, but really loved how the author developed Ruined by Power. There are many questions in the air to be resolved in the next book. Can't wait to read it.

Cam and Thea's story continues, but now most of the story is in the Angel Realm. Thea gets an assignment to look for her mom who is missing in action. Cam gets a solo assignment that is messing with him and he's battling his rage!! Thea and Cam's relationship is put to the test. This story has many twists and turns, violence, drama and hot encounters and it's a story you definitely need to check out. This is a book I definitely highly recommend, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

This is book 2 of the Empire of Angels and it’s the continuation of Cam’s and Thea’s story it’s exciting enthralling and it will keep you turning the pages. I’ll tell ya what I’m stumped with what to write for this review and not many books do that to me and I was shocked with Cam and what he did to Thea that shocked the hell out of me, but if you want to find out what he did then your just going to have to get this book. This is an amazing story and I can’t wait to read book 3 of this series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Wow, the story was just amped up with this one. You have to read book 1 in order to read this as this picks up where the first ended. Now we get introduced to a whole new world and I could not put it down. I was intrigued. I love Cam and his alphaness with Thea. Not to mention that now we get some more drama thrown in with what is planned for Thea. It's angsty, sexy, intriguing and I can't wait to start book 3.
