Robby Fletcher had a lot of things to be ashamed of, but being assaulted by his oldest brother and his pals, wasn't one of them. It's been going on for years, but with one beating too many, Robby has finally had enough. When he learns that Moose is in danger, Robby wants to protect his brother for once, and that means going to Cade Creek to warn him that Billy is out for revenge. But nothing ever comes easy for Robby. He barely has time to step foot in Cade Creek before he's running for his life. Gus Fletcher knew something was wrong the second three rough-looking guys stepped inside his feed and seed store. He knew they were after something, and he was determined that they wouldn't get it, especially when he discovered the frightened man hiding under his desk. Between misunderstandings, the danger from Billy and his cohorts, and trying to help Robby and Moose mend their relationship, falling in love seems easy. Finding the right time for them is almost impossible.

About Me I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.
I live in the great Northwest region of the USA, with my gorgeous husband and soul mate, two boxer/collie puppies, one old biddy cats, and three fish. When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

Well as much as I like my cheesy mm book porn, this one just didn't work well for me. Robby isn't at all what I thought he was from Moose's book. He was too meek and weak. Throw in the whole spanking and outlandish plot at the end and I was just ready to be done. Oh well...I know I'll keep reading this series but I gotta say I seriously hope the ending wasn't a setup for Kevin to get a story...just no.
As awful as emotional and physical abuse is, I find the tendency for victims to defend their abusers, or to “justify” their actions, at least as difficult to understand. My heart broke for Moose in the last book: he was made to “earn” money in cage fights, beaten up by his father and older brother, Billy, and when he finally escapes, his younger brother Robby decides to stay behind. Why??? He knows that he will be next, and yet, for some reason he seems to think he will escape the same fate.
Now, at the beginning of ‘The Right Time for Us’, it becomes obvious he is in as much danger as Moose used to be – maybe more. It takes him being beaten half to death and Moose being threatened by Billy, before Robby finally manages to tear himself away. Robby makes it to Cade Creek, but as soon as he’s there, Billy and two thugs catch up with him. Only quick thinking and finding a hiding place save him and, as it turns out, make him walk right into his rescuer’s arms.
Gus owns the Cade Creek feed and seed store, Moose works for him, and when three thugs show up to look for Moose and the man he suspects is hiding under his desk, Gus denies knowing any of them and manages to get rid of the strangers. But that is by no means the end of it. First, Robby needs help and Gus is determined to get it for him, no matter what. And second, he falls for Robby faster than possible in real life, and all they need to figure out is how to deal with Gus’s somewhat kinky desires and when to find the time to actually get to know each other. Once Gus stops feeling guilty for what he wants, that is.
But the men after Robby are persistent and very dangerous. Even with the help of most of the people in Cade Creek, Robby and Gus are in trouble almost from the word go. They have each other, but they need to learn to communicate and build some trust between them before they can get anywhere.
If you want to find out how the people of Cade Creek are doing and how they help Robby and Gus, just like they’ve helped Moose and Cory, if you like whirlwind insta-love romances with a large side of danger and suspense, and if you’re looking for a sweet read with a wonderful happy ending, then you will probably like this novella.

Re-read Sept 28, 2024 This series is marvelous ! It's fiction and fun. Here we have Moose's brother, Robby, who helped him escape, now comes to warn Moose. Robby was beaten up, arm broken, by older bother, Billy and his two friends, and got away. He made it to the bus to Cade Creek, where he has to hide in Gus's store when Billy shows up. Gus, injured Marine, who we learn a lot about, saves him, gets his arm fixed, and cares for him at his home. Gus wants to be needed, and Robby needs Gus. I love Stormy Glenn's characters and the adventures she takes them on. Here, we have the town on alert for horrible Billy and his buds. Robby is healing at Gus's and they both want each other. Gus has a kink for spanking his lovers, and is afraid it will not be what Robby wants. Robby has had too much violence in his young life already. Moose, Cody and Matty must hide up on the mountain, while the police try to catch the bad guys, but the excitement has only begun. After a misunderstanding, we get super hot, sexy lovin'. Robby isn't afraid of Gus and his desire. Then the bad guys strike, with violence, a deadly fire, gunshots and a rescue. This series of stories are connected and continuing, but can stand alone. The bad guys get their due ! We get a great HEA, and a feel good smile. ENJOY !
I needed him to get his little piece of happy. Speaking of Happy, he makes an appearance in this one and made my whole day! I already can’t wait to finish this series so I can go back and just read him. In this oen though, Robby is still at home with his brother and his goons, who do a lot more to Robby than his brother does. Things are worse for Robby than we realize…. So after having enough, with a broken arm and other injuries, he takes off…. But just before he leaves, he hears someone in Moose’s room, and it’s Carla, the “baby mama”…. I’m not sure whatever happened to her, whether or not she died. Robby called an ambulance for her, but it never did say that I can recall.
Of course, going to Cade Creek to find Moose, of course big brother is going to follow him and bring him back home. Without their dad there, he’s kind of the boss man now, and his abuse and torture just getting worse. Unfortunately, when Robby gets to town, so does Billy, and he follows him into Gus’ feed store. Thankfully, Gus lets him hide out for a minute while Billy looks for him.
Robby is thankful that he let him hideout, but like all the guys in this series, once Gus sets his sights on Robby, he’s not letting him get away. I mean, he kind of does for a second, but it was kind of a misunderstanding… and it gave Robby a chance to meet Neason and Minister Brody. (Whom I cannot wait to go back and read, because I came into this series not having read the previous one this one spun off form)….
So, I loved these two together, although I didn’t understand how Robby’s aversion to touch just went away. He’d been sexually abused for how long? Not wanting to be touched to the point, he verbally said it numerous times that we’d known him… but with Gus, it just didn’t matter? I’m not sure how that works… but I don’t think PTSD and psychological issues that stem from longterm abuse and sexually assault just go away, just like that That bothered me…
We do get the closure, I reckon… though I’d have liked to have seen Moose and Robby be able to confront their dad and brother as well as send them away forever, getting the last word and all that, but it seems that this author really likes to kill the bad guys off and be done with it, in a few lines… then say “it’s over…sorry to spoil it for ya, that’s exactly what happens here. If you’ve made it this far though, you’re already used to it.
I really hope whoever’s next, maybe we can take a break from the abused character for a book or two, and have a different problem? I’m all for the wounded bird trope, and I love me a good insta-love and a good hurt/comfort, but these are all seeming like the same story, just differen’t couples… Let’s change it up a bit, eh?
Robby needs to let his brother know his son is in danger. Then he will try to disappear. Gus knows Robby is trouble but for right now Robby needs him. Can Gus protect Robby from his past? The Right Time for Us is fourteenth in Stormy Glenn’s Cade Creek series. I enjoyed returning to this community. And I enjoyed meeting Robby. We knew he acted in a manner he didn’t like and now we learn why. Robby was such a sweet soul who did things he didn’t like and was treated horribly. I loved seeing him find trust in Gus so quickly. His body knew what it took a second for his mind to comprehend…he could trust Gus. I love that Ms. Glenn decided it was Gus’s turn to find his happily ever. He has supported his friends and now they could return the favor. But will Gus allow his fears to sabotage his future? I loved finding out. Robby needed to feel safe and Gus needed to trust in Robby. Together they have a chance to move beyond their past. Ms. Glenn allowed them to learn together that they must fight for the future they want. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Gus and Robby thrive together. And I can’t wait to see where Ms. Glenn will take us next in this world.
At the end, while there is no true time frame given, to me it is strongly intuited to be 2 weeks later. My problem with this is Gus had to have surgery but he's able to move around as much as and in positions described already with a leg in cast? Another strong hint of time frame is talk of picking up a puppy from litter that was already to be adopted out.
Also I didn't realize from Moose's book that Robby was considered so much smaller. And the explanations given to excuse his behavior fall a little flat for me. AND... I thought he actually made appearance (or phone call?) to let Moose know he was in danger in Moose's book? I'm too tired to do a little research but him showing up and immediately hiding out in Gus's store doesn't feel quite right to me.
The whole both having the same last name thing threw me. I didn't like it. Robby also wasn't what I had pictured in my head from the last book. Sorry, but this one was a miss for me.
(Spoilers may be included, read at your own peril!) I did not care for this, unfortunately, because I really love this author and this series. We met Robby earlier, he's Moose's brother, and he had helped Moose escape from under the evil thumb of their brother and father. Now it's Robby's turn to escape but not before we learn just how bad he's had it. (Rape, beatings, and more.) When Robby leaves town he goes looking for Moose not expecting help but hoping Cade Creek can be his refuge, too. He finds himself in the store of Moose's boss, Gus and Gus instantly knows he has to protect Robby. It's here that - for me- things get dicey. What looked to be a fabulous hurt/comfort read ends up being a ridiculously quick courtship to marriage and though abused all his life, Gus insists on spanking Robby because that's Gus' kink. I not only didn't buy it, but it felt like a continuation of Robby's abuse and really turned me off. Maybe not everyone will see it that way, but I don't think there was enough story here for me to feel that the spanking was something Robby wanted or could even tolerate. In addition, with the absence of a paranormal mating, the I love yous and the marriage happened way too quickly for me to be a believer.
Robby's vulnerability and Gus's take control personality were just what the other needed. Gus needed to be needed and Robby needed someone to take care of him and they BOTH needed love. Through all the scary and dangerous things they went through they had each other and an amazing group of friends, who were more like family, who had their backs. A strong love and great sex...what more could anyone ask for? Terrific story!
It has been quite a while since I read Moose and Cory’s story (#13) so it took me a few moments to put all the characters back in my head. Robby is Moose’s little brother and between the two of them they’re choking on their guilt over what they perceive they should have done to protect the other. Gus was a breath of fresh air, frankly. I really enjoyed watching Robby and Gus fall in love. They both needed each other so much, but didn’t know it until they met.
There was just something really endearing about Gus and Robby's story, no matter the problem they still were able to endure. There's a lot of angst in this book but it's balanced out by new love and the promise of a better future. I love the Cade Creek series, it never disappoints.
An insta-Love romance. But very sweet tale of love between two men. A small plot to keep everything moving. There are triggers for physical and sexual assault but they are mentioned as something that happened in the past versus detailed accounting.
Eh. A good length for the story, but timeline wise it felt rushed. They're saying love and planning to get married in days? More "realistic" if it was a supernatural/paranormal setting, but in the contemporary setting it just feels odd. Good story. The action and intrigue is well written and engaging.
