4.5/5

Emilia Hartley has outdone herself with this fantastic paranormal romance story!

This is the second installment in Mountain Wolf Protectors series and it picks up where Protected by the Mountain Wolf left off. In this book, I found that the story got even better and more intense than the first one. I was thoroughly enthralled and couldn’t put it down!

When Kal, the son of the Valley Clan’s Alpha, started dating Amara’s sister in order to get to her and Nova, she didn’t know what to do. Since Amara already gave her word that she would keep the existence of the wolf-shifters a secret from humans, she couldn’t tell Sadie that Kal was a psycho wolf who had tried to kill her and Nova several times. So, it was painful for her to see Kal using Sadie as a pawn in his twisted game and the best she could do was keep an eye on her sister and hope that nothing bad would happen to her.

Meanwhile, the wolf-shifters from the Valley Clan continually assailed the townspeople of Strathford whom the Mountain Wolf pack had considered as part of their territory and theirs to protect as well. The attacks not only increased the animosity between two clans but also made innocent people suffer. Nova and his brother both agreed that their pack wasn’t ready for the war yet, but when their enemies, leading by Kal, ruthlessly tried to claim their territory, the Mountain Wolf pack needed to do something before it was too late.

I really did enjoy the romance between Nova and Amara. Their sexy times were steamy hot, yet breathtakingly beautiful. Nova is such a sweetheart. His protectiveness toward her absolutely won me over…again. And Amara is even stronger and braver in this book. She is Nova’s perfect match, indeed.

One of the things I love about the author's writing is her action scenes. They are very gripping and action-packed that I always have a hard time controlling my excitement. The author makes me feel like I am right there, in the middle of the battle, with all the characters. And all the fight scenes in this book were no exception. Truly amazing!

And without a doubt, Kal Vann, the psycho wolf shape-shifter, has become one of my most hated characters. I’m normally not a violent person, but in this case, this man made me want to punch him in the face. No wonder Amara wanted to do the same!

All in all, this was an entertaining read. I personally recommend reading books in this series in publication order.

Amara sat in the truck thinking about her situation. She was hidden and under the protection of the Mountain Wolf pack. She was in love with Nova, a shifter. But her little sister Sadie was dating Kal Vann, a shifter in a rival pack, who had tried to kill Amara several times now! Sadie wouldn’t listen to reason. And Amara, sworn to secrecy, couldn’t tell her the truth. But Amara was tired of hiding after two weeks and asked Nova to take her back to town. She wanted to get back to her job and family. Nova, however, was concerned for her safety. The rival pack was violent, was openly terrorizing the humans in town, and war was inevitable. It turns out he was right to worry when one of the farmers was attacked by a rival wolf and left in critical condition.

Because of the attack, the town called a Council meeting. Mitch, Amara’s boss at the bar, texted her. When she left the victim’s room at the hospital and turned on her phone, she saw his messages. She had to be there! So disregarding her safety, she started to run the 12 blocks to the City Hall. She recommended 10-person patrols and offered to train the towns’ volunteers to shoot. Nova’s pack continued being attacked along their borders. Things were escalating. Kal issued a threat to Nova against Amara and Sadie who had no idea about Kal’s evil nature and was still dating him. With the war about to begin, how could they keep the town safe? How could they protect their families? And what would happen to Sadie who had no idea she was dating a psychotic killer wolf!!!

This was a good story that held the reader’s interest. The characters, already familiar from the previous book, were well developed so the reader cared about what happened to each of them and knew their strengths. I found the book very enjoyable, suspenseful, and would definitely recommend it.

Loved this book! All of the characters are wonderful and can't wait to read more of this series to find out what happens with them. Amara and Nova are great together, their chemistry and love is undeniable. Nova is a hot, sexy, alpha mail who will do anything and everything to protect Amara and her family. This story got me hooked right from the beginning and with twists, action, and hot scenes, kept me hooked all the way to the end. This book picks up right where the first book left off, and although this can be read as a stand alone, I think it's better to read in order and get a little more background for this wonderful story. It's a must read and I'm already stalking the next book in the series, hopefully it won't be too long!

I voluntarily read this ARC and found I enjoyed it quite a bit. This shifter read had more to it than I'd expected and it made it come to life. Nova and Amara had it rough with the way this played out, especially since her sister wouldn't heed her warning about Kal being a bad guy. We have two shifter packs here. One who tries and protect the humans of Strathford and one who thrives are terrorizing and killing them. Amara and her friends almost met their end by Valley wolf pack, and while this isn't the end it is the start of a beautiful relationship springing up between her and Nova. His mother isn't on board. That is all I'll give as spoilers, but you need to read this short story and enjoy.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This is like a pretty great 4.5 for me. I liked where it left off, how it still revolved around Nova and his human mate without forgetting about the dangers that the town and pack were in. I was aggravated by the struggles Sadie put her sister in, and I think it made it more entertaining for me. Kal was a real piece of work, and though a few things bugged me, this was overall an entertaining read that's left me curious about the next installment.

Wolf against wolf and the humans have no idea what's is about to happen.

The story is about a wolf shifter and the human woman he loves. His own pack is divided on allowing her to know their secrets. But she isn't the biggest problem. Another pack of wolves is trying to take over and killing humans is no issue for them.

There is some violence, especially near the end and some hot scenes between the couple. If you enjoy paranormal romance with wolf shifters, then you will enjoy this story.

This is the second book in the series and here we continue the story of Amara and Nova living together with the Mountain Wolf Pack. The attacks from the Valley Wolf Pack to the people in the village are increasing and it is difficult to prevent them.
It has a lot of action, secrets, and emotion. It is a good reading, well-written and quick to read.

It was a good story. Interesting, fun, tense, suspenseful and so mush more. good book for the middle of a series. Not my usual read. I don't like cliff hangers where I have to wait for the next book. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

About the same as Protected by the Mountain Wolf

This story continues where Protected by the Mountain Wolf leaves off. Amora is still in danger and has to hide out at the pack compound. As one can imagine, the pack, or some of them, are not that accepting of the human on the property or with their Beta. That goes especially for Nevah, Nova's mother. She's not having any of it if she can help it. Her boy deserves better!

Amara manages to befriend Ivanah, Nemoy's wife, and a few other pack members but she hasn't won them all over yet--even if she did help save the children. Kal is still trying to kill Amara while sweet talking her sister Sadie who has fell hook, line and sinker for him even though her older, "wiser" sister has told her he is bad news. Go figure.

Nova and Amara step their relationship up by confessing their (forbidden) love hoping to find some way to stay together. Not much to make the heart beat faster or stay up late into the night reading this one.

Ehh...just okay. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Adored By The Mountain Wolf by Emilia Hartley was a solid addition to the Mountain Wolf Protectors series. The book was fast-paced and easy to sink into. The characters were familiar from the previous book and the romance was just as sexy and heated as I’d hoped.

If anything, my one complaint about this book is that it wasn’t long enough. I read through the story in less than 2 hours, and even though it was a great read, I couldn’t help but feel that there should have been more to it. The book ended abruptly and the tension of the war between the wolf clans kind of petered out. I wish more time had been spent developing the characters, their relationships, and the plot’s tension – I think we only scratched the surface here.

All that aside, it was a solid read, perfect for readers looking for something sexy and short to sink into, and I recommend it to all paranormal romance readers looking for a new shifter book to get into.

OK....I get that Amara cant tell anyone the stuff that she knows about Nova's pack....but I mean, talk to your sister. She is with a psychopath who most likely killed your father and tried to kill you. But you have to keep your boyfriends secret so it makes up for that...WHAT!!!!!! talk to your sister, make her keep the secret to get her away from that evil man. I mean, its a no brainer...I just cant get past the fact that she would let her sister be alone with him, or even be near him and say...ehhhh i guess she will be ok. Amara better take her head out of her ass by the next book or she is on my shit list.

The second book in the series takes off right where the first left off. Amara is hiding out with the wolf pack and it has gotten old. She knows that not everyone is happy she is there, including Nora's mother. She has to get back to doing normal stuff so she goes back to work at the bar. When a wolf attack occurs practically right outside the door, Amara fires off a shotgun and frightens the "animal" off, but the victim is in bad shape. Amara knows exactly how that feels.
Sadie, Amara's sister is still dating Kal, the shifter that attacked her 10 years ago. She can't tell Sadie about the wolf packs and so she must just hope Kal won't try to kill her sister. The attacks are becoming more frequent and Nova's pack is being pushed at the borders of pack land.

I am not gong to tell you the story as you should read it for yourself. I would advise reading the books in order as the story will make more sense that way.

This is a stunning continuation of Protected by the Mountain Wolf. It picks up right where the first book left off and jumps right into the action. I don't recommend this be read as a stand alone because so much is set up in book 1. In this installment, Amara and Nova face off against Kal from the rival Valley Pack in many ways. Kal has started dating Amara's sister, Sadie, which complicates mattes immensely. I really likes this story and hope to get more.

Captivating, fast paced, shifter romance that's filled with suspense. Hunky guys, always a must, and a heroine whose able to battle her own inner fears in order to fight to save those she loves. Strong characters with a solid plot. This is a good stand alone read, but would also make a great first for a series.

This is a novella-length book and is intended for mature audiences. It is also not exactly a stand-alone, though it also does not have a traditional cliffhanger ending. All of those disclaimers aside, I did enjoy the book, as I do most novels involving shapeshifters. However, it is very obvious that this is not the first novel in the series and, since I have not yet read the first novel, I felt like I was missing some important information. While I don't feel that authors should have to continually repeat things for those readers new to the series, I do feel that readers who may not realize that a book is part of a series and pick up a later installment should not feel like they are watching a complicated sporting event without a score card. All that being said, I enjoyed this fast read and the world that the author has created is an interesting one and one that I would be happy to explore further.
