This was oh so fun again! I am so happy that one of my libraries had this one in English (don't get me wrong the Dutch version is pretty OK, but the English is just a bit more funny). This time Tom has to make a family tree and he finds out all sorts of facts about his family (some very embarrassing, some very fun). There is also some more information about the grandparents (his mom's parents) he hasn't seen since childhood.
I also had a laugh at the shoes (my gosh, you would think you would hear that when you check if the shoes fit and walk all right). Also a middle name is still not that common. I know I was one of the few with one (well two) back in elementary school. :)

It was very funny, although it was a bit weird how page 173, was literally just the cover without the colour, (in My copy anyway).

Tom has a pair of noisy shoes. That's the first part of the story. The next is the teacher asking him to do a family tree. He didn't know his grandparents' names.

He did his project and interviewed all the family members about the important stuff to him. What is their favourite child or grandchild? What are their favourite snacks?

Fun stuff about how he learned about his family.

Characters expanding in the book. Not great but okay. It fits the theme.

4 stars read.

I’m not going to lie that this book was a little bit disappointing I’m a big fan of the Tom gates series and I didn’t really feel for filled. It was good but not brilliant I felt that it was just like reading some kids school project not an exciting story of what mischief Tom happens to get up to. I thought that it was a bit far fetched what are the odds that the wrinklies (Tom’s grandparents) miraculously turn up at their front door after 7 years and after Tom was just learning about them and taking an interest in who they are. I just feel that the likelihood that the wrinklies turn up is not very high.

This is a great book for young independent readers. Full of doodling, different fonts for writing young readers will find it interesting. Even though the book has 234 pages but the amount of writing on each page is very limited and almost half of every page has got doodling by the narrator Tom Gates. So the book can be easily consumed by the young readers.

The story is about a boy named Tom gates and his school project. very typical life of a schoolboy and his regular interaction with his schoolmates and siblings and other people. Tom works on a school project called family tree. in his project, he writes about his mum dad his uncle grandparents and his sister Delia. On completion of this project, Tom's parents get to know some not discovered facts about each other and their kids and Tom receives lots of appreciation from his parents and teacher Mr. fullerman.

Overall the story is very limited and some readers might find this bit lengthy but would a great choice for a middle year kid who just started independent reading.

From family to furry creatures, this book is filled with fun and laughter! I’m sure everyone knows about Liz. I have trouble finding her books in the local library! This book is amazing, and, double whammy, it contains funny stories about Tom’s parents! Liz, I am a huge fan and I hope you carry on writing about the amazing life of Tom Gates.( I used some of the jokes in this book on my friends! They didn’t really get it though.)
