The Good, The Bad & The Beautiful as Love triumphs over Evil... What an amazing Paranormal/Sci-Fi Romance. I absolutely loved it.
An important note for Amazon US readers: This review will not appear as a verified purchase on the US site because I bought the book from Amazon UK.
'Stegian' is the forth book in Mandy Roth's paranormal/sci-fi romance Interstellar Alphas series and has been updated since I originally bought it as Civil Twilight (Project Exorcism series) from Amazon UK a few years ago, but it had the same effect on me now as it did then. I absolutely loved it and my emotions ran the gamut from sorrow to joy with side stops at grief and anger along the way. It made me cry more than it made me laugh, which is unusual for this author, but it still left me with a smile on my face and a question mark in my mind. Threads have been left open for other books and I can't wait to see if they materialise. I'll be at the front of the queue.....
I was glued to this terrific book from beginning to end and got completely sucked in by this emotional rollercoaster. I really couldn't put it down until I got to the last word and then I wanted more. This story is more an emotional battle than a physical one, although there are elements of the physical as this tale unfolds. Love, sacrifice and redemption are the order of the day, seasoned with just a little steam and we finally learn why the evil vampire Stegian wants to rid the planet of all the Janelle family, and it really isn't what I was expecting at all. The Blurb for the book tells you a bit, but what it doesn't tell you, what you'll find as you read this book, is so much more than I can put in this review without giving spoilers. From quite early on in the story, I started making connections and as I read more my mind was churning with possible scenarios about what could be, what had been and how could it possibly have been, but I kept coming back to the theory that time is a circle although it felt more like a knot as the several hundred year old vampire sorcerer and the twenty-one year old ascended witch come together.... This is definitely a book you need to read for yourself.
Mandy Roth is one of my all time favourite authors, and all her books can easily be read as stand alones with their own happily ever afters however, in this particular case, I think you'd get so much more out of the book if you read the series in order. I've read over a hundred books by this author, including the previous books in this series, so I had a good lead in to this amazing story but it still surprised me and there's a really handy Author's Note at the beginning of the book giving history and background about why Stegian is on the planet Sargaidia in the first place, but this story explains so much more. Well worth 5 stars and then some. The war continues...
This is the 4th story in the Intersteller series by Mandy M Roth.
This is the story of Stegian and how he came to be the most feared villain. His story isn't pretty but it gives alot of insight to how he came to be who he is today. Also, we meet his mate in this story and who she is will blow your mind.
This story is fascinating and Very intense. What a great way to end this series!!
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
This storyline keeps getting more interesting with each book. Stegian's story is sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. The pain and struggle he went through on a daily basis just proves how strong he is, Jacqueline is just as strong and very stubborn. True mates always prevail. I can't wait to read the next one.
Book four in this series, you should read the previous books to get a better understanding of this book. Stegian the hero in this story was actually the villian in the prior stories. Jacquelyn is the youngest sibling of the heros and heroines in the other stories. Jacquelyn knows she is Stegian's true mate and it is her duty to separate him from the demon that is controlling him. Stegian was not the evil person you see before coming to the planet and you get to see how the ship that was banished from Earth came to the new planet. This story doesn't have as many sexy scenes as the other books, but it is still a hot read. This book does have a HEA, but it does leave it open to have more stories in this series.
I received a copy of this book for a honest review....
Mandy Roth - Stygian: Paranormal Shifter Fated Mate Galactic SciFi Military Romance (Interstellar Alphas Book 4)
Finally the story of Stegian, the evil supernatural villain of the series. Somehow there's always two sides to a villain and how evil overtook his soul and Stegian is no exception.
Stegian was a sorcerer/vampire having been turned forcefully while still on earth. Though this was a catastrophic event Stegian was able to keep this evil presence in check for many years. Fast forward to the eviction of "others" from earth, Stegian's spacecraft makes an emergency landing on a strange planet. The planets strong supernatural forces have an immediate effect on him the minute his foot hits the ground and his evil demon roars into dominance overtaking any bits of humanity Stegian could fight it off with. For over 150!years Stegian fed off fear, blood, mind control bringing death and destruction, terrorizing the planet and ruthlessly ruling his team.
Jacquelyn, one of the Janelle sisters, has been mentioned often in the previous books. Years ago she was attacked by Stegian and her battered body now exists in stasis fully dependent on life support. Although her body is held prisoner her mind continues to grow and she is able project her consciousness and communicate with her family as a hologram. Through the years she has ""ascended " mentally and is able to leave her body, although she has kept this from her family.
Now a mature grown woman Jacquelyn recognizes Stegian as her Mate . How to separate the demon from the good man/sorcerer being kept prisoner in its own body becomes her mission. Stegian is drawn to her vision immediately not knowing she is a part of the family he has always considered enemies. This sets the book on an emotional, dangerous, tension filled rollercoaster of events as Stegian and Jacquelyn battle what seems to be the impossible.
Many loose ends are tied up with much justice dealt out by the HEA. A few open questions are left as well so possibly there will be at least one more book in the series. A short but entertaining page turner of a book and welcome addition to the series. Highly suggest reading the other books in the series first for clarity and full enjoyment.
Oh WOW Ms Roth has done it again, her writing ability not only takes you away from the day to day dole drums, but she also transports you into the story, setting you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, feeling everything the characters do.
This book is book four of the Interstellar Alpha Series, which was previously written as the Project Exorcism series, it's had a few added on chapters, I thought the first version couldn't be beaten, boy was I wrong! Gonna try to review this without giving away too many spoilers if any (she says with fingers crossed.lol)
Since book one Stegian has been the evil leader of 'The Other's' a group of different types of shifters from planet Earth who crash landed on the planet. Just his name would put fear into the planet's people, especially the men, as he can take control of their minds and have them do his evil bidding. Especially with ridding this planet he now calls home, of the women from the Janelle family.
But now Jacquelyn Janelle, the youngest of the Janelle female's is on a mission, she is going to save the man from his people, save the man from his demon, and save the man who is her mate. You see Jacquelyn knows the man and she is not frightened by him, but she does fear his demon, she knows there is good in Stegian, she has met the man before he was sired by a vampire and she knows that he can be saved. Why?...because she was born to save him.
Join this couple for their rollercoaster story of ups and downs. Can Jacquelyn save her mate? Will her family find out and try to stop her by any means possible? Will Stegian be able to change from the all time baddie and become the goodie? Can he become the hero that's needed? And.... Will he get his HEA? To find out the answers to these questions and more I'd advise you to get your nose into this series if you haven't already. As like the rest of the books in this series, it doesn't have a cliffhanger ending, but very much advise you to read in book reading order as you will come across spoilers otherwise.
Fully recommend you read this, and if I could have given more than the five stars permitted I most certainly would!
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Stegian is the 4th book in Mandy Roth's Interstellar Alphas Paranormal Shifter Galactic series. Stegian is the evil vampire leader of the "Others", the beings that inhabit the planet Sargaidia and strive to wipe the planet free of all good shifters and magical beings that oppose them, especially the Janelle family.
Stegian was once a good man, a respected solider, until the night he was turned into a vampire. Struggling to keep the demon within under control, he helped negotiate for the supernaturals on earth. But when something goes wrong on their ship and they end up on a planet they know nothing about, his demon overpowers him and the results are catastrophic.
Jacquelyn Janelle is living a half life. Crippled in a viscious attack by the Others, she remains trapped in the body of a child while her mind has continued to grow. When she somehow stumbles upon her mate she knows she will do anything to save him. But he may beyond saving.
This was a long anticipated book. I was worried, excited and anxious about how Ms. Roth was going to be able to redeem Stegian after all of the terrible things he had done, especially to the Janelle family. It seemed impossible. But being the writer she is, she did the impossible. The book is full of "tension" and "edge of your seat" moments. I love Jacquelyn, she was smart, brave, and willing to fight for what she wanted. Stegian was just so utterly torn and damaged, it was hard NOT to feel for him.
It was nice to catch up with some of the old characters like Jordan, Sevan, Bradi, Lorelei and Christian. It was a great book overall though I wish Ms. Roth had gone into more detail about exactly how Stegian becomes himself again, and there were definitely some lose ends left in the book, that I assume will lead to another story. Maybe Christian will get his HEA??
This is tribute to the writing prowess of Ms. Roth. Not many authors can do what she has done: turn the dastardly villain of the 3 previous books in the "Project Exorcism" series into the hero of this final book. This is a rewrite of "Civil Twilight" and has had 4 chapters added to the original 9. I know this because I had originally bought this back in December of 2014. How did Stegian turn into the hated villain? When the supernatural creatures were forced to leave Earth back in 2055 under the claim of being relocated Stegian was the captain of one of five ships. His ship was the only one that survived the flight and on crash landing evil waited for the survivors and Stegian in particular. The demon residing deep inside Stegian took over his mind and body which spelled disaster and death for any of the remaining interstellar alphas. For the next 150 or so years Stegian fed off of and killed all he could get his fangs on. Jacquelyn has always been on the periphery of the other books but now she is the mail female character. In my terms she has been in stasis but fate is calling her forward to save her family by saving Stegian from himself and making him her mate. This is such a fascinating ending to this series. As stated previously I have read the original publication but I did receive an ARC for this rewritten version.
Stegian is a man held prisoner in his own body by a vampire demon. A demon hell bent on ridding the planet of all Janelles. He rules by fear and he rules well. But, when a mysterious, gorgeous woman arrives late one night, tempting him, claiming to want to save him from himself, everything changes. We have been waiting for this book for some time now and i can tell you that Mandy M Roth delivered in full!!!! I soooooo love the Janelles and Jacquelyn is one of my favorite! Is it because Stegian is the bad guy? Perhaps! Mandy M roth wrote an amazing story with well developed characters that were fun to read! I also loved seeing the other couples in the book and learn how they were doing. Page turner and full of action this book will have you reading it in one sit! An amazing ending that did justice to all! I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author and this is my honest review.
Taking the villain and making him the hero (well sort of) takes a Mandy Roth writing skill. Reading the other books in the series will make Stegian's character much clearer. This book explains how he became the evil master.
What a great story of the battle between love and evil. While not a long book, we visit the family and reunions of mind and spirit of Jacelyn's family. HEA is part of any good romance, paranormal or not. I'm not giving away anything not shown in any other review. Knowing Stegian from three other stories my imagination could not fathom how he could ever be the hero. Thank you, Ms. Roth, for your paranormal imagination. Jacquelyn is quite a surprise to everyone. I love her strength and will to fight for ... you need to read to find out all the battles she has to fight.
This is a winner and a great end to the series to date. However, Mandy Roth, there are plenty of others that have a story just dying to get out so...
This is a strong recommend for the book and the entire series.
Stegian a man who’s name drives fear into the hearts of everyone, comes across an intriguing beauty who doesn’t fear him and on mission to save him from his inner demon. He is ruthless in all his dealings, however with this mysterious woman he finds his protecting streak surging to the surface, fighting his inner demon to keep her safe. Jacquelyn Janelle has her work cut out for her trying to save her mate from the demon that has held him prisoner for so long while trying to keep it a secret from her family. Knowing it is no secret that Stegian is on a mission to destroy all things Janelle, she had once been the target of her mate’s darker side. Now she must move swiftly to separate him from his demon and avoid her family finding out that her destiny lies with their greatest enemy, if they are to have a chance at their HEA.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I couldn't put it down! It is a fast paced story that will keep you from putting it down.
Wow is this the end of the series I don't know but it does take reforming the bad boy stories to a whole new level. Jacqueline is the youngest Janelle, in the beginning she was living on life support and only had a holographic body which Christian created for her so she could interact with her family. Then she ascended when she gave that holographic body and her energy up to save her sister. During this time she goes back into Stegian's past and meets him and falls for him. Stegian has a demon living within him making him a vampire. He is a prisoner in his own body.
That is all I am going to reveal about this story other than to say that from previous stories we knew Stegian wanted to annihilate the Janelles and this story explains it all.. I love all of what I have read of Ms. Roth's stories and each one has been better than the last. I encourage you to give this author a try as I believe she will truly keep you entertained. I read an advance copy and was not compensated for this opinion in any way. Judge for yourself.
Such a good book. I am obsessed with Mandy. I'm just this side of stalking her. I always eagerly await one of her books. Almost have a countdown until one is released. I'm happy to say that this book did not disappoint.
I would recommend that you read the others in the series first before reading this one. It will help with the backstory. Plus, they are really good as well.
In this book we have Stegian and Jacqueline. He is evil. She is good. Is her love powerful enough to save him and them?
I will say that I had my doubts about this book before I even read it. Stegian is not a good buy in the other books, so I wasn't thrilled with him being the center of the story, but within 3 minutes of reading this, I did a complete 180 and fell in love with him. You will too. Trust me.
Spend the money, buy the book. You will not be disappointed.
The Demon Within It’s the demons fault, at least that’s what Jacquelyn says about Stegian. Jacquelyn is the youngest of the Janelle family. She’s been hooked up to a machine to keep her body alive since she was a little girl. The machine even let her communicate outside of her body. But a few years back she expanded so much energy helping to save Lorelei that something happened. Somehow, she has ascended beyond her body. But she still goes back to help herself recharge. Jacquelyn believes she can help Stegian rid himself of the demon that resides in his body. Dare he hope to be rid of the vampire he carries within him? And what happens if he can? Will anyone ever trust him after all the horrors he and the demon have done to so many? Very entertaining story to read. Though this is part of a series, it is still a self-contained story.
I received an ARC copy of this book for free and here is my review: Loved it! I am not one to give any spoilers to a book I have read, instead I tell you of the characters and my experience reading said book. These characters are a force to be reckoned with. Stegian is a magikal being with evil and good inside, but not sure how to control what resides within. Jacquelyn knows the man he was and is and has a lot ahead of her to prove he is good and not evil, will she succeed? She has a lot she has been hiding and brings a twist to the story line. You really need to read this book, and all the others. Although it is a standalone, it would be wise to read the others in the series to see how they got to where they are now. Looking forward to more from Mandy :-) Happy Reading
It was first believed that Stegian had it out for the Janelle's. But the fact was it was something different. They just don't know what really happened years ago. Stegian and Jacquelyn both are in a race to try and save their love for one another .They must battle his demon the vampire side the one that's been terrorizing her family and the planet for years. Stegians demon is powerful but it's true power will be test when the love and power of a woman more powerful then he's ever seen tries to help him see the good he once had. When Jacquelyn's true self and what she really is to him shows it only aids in the battle to save him from the demon that has control over him and the terror he has shown .Will it be enough to help him will their love win out or will the demon .
Earth removed who ever they knew were supernaturals and put them on ships, it was called project exorcism. Stegian was on that ship at one time he had been a powerful sorcerer who had been changed and now carried a demon but one he could control. Thier ship crashed on a planet that gave his demon more power then Stegian could control and he turned evil. But as this story goes he is not completely evil and thier is a special lady for him. Not going to tell ya more it'll just let it blow your mind. It surprised me! Great story, lots of drama and twists. If you have been following the series your mind may be blown away lol Don't miss it Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
This is an unusual and interesting story. The title character has been the villain throughout this particular series. In fact, he is one of the most heinous characters dreamed up by the creative mind of Mandy Roth, yet in this story he is the hero, or anti hero, if you will. Even more surprising is his love interest, the final Janelle sister, Jacqueline, who we have only seen in the form of a hologram. She has acquired a new form and is determined to redeem the unredeemable.
I enjoyed the story much more than I thought I would, given Stegian's previous appearances in the series. More importantly, Stegian's origins are explained. The author actually made something I thought impossible believable, a likable Stegian.
Stegian the hated foe becomes the Hero????? Mandy does an amazing job with the newest installation of the Interstellar Alphas series. Stegian comes to this planet on the ships that left the earth...knowing that he met his true mate on Earth only to never see her again. Jacquelyn has been on life support but her spirit has been missing. Little does her family know her spirit has transcended and she had a new body. Her mission is to save Stegian because she knows there is still good in him. This is an amazing story that is full of action. I could not put it down. You don't need to read the others to enjoy this story.
It's not often I find myself cheering for the bad guy to get his own HEA!
Stegian, was a refugee from Earth. But hwn his ship crashed, his body and mind was taken over by a demon. He has spent the last century or so killing all those who got in his way.
Jacquelyn has spent most of her life trapped inside the body of her younger self. Stegian may have devastated her family, but she is drawn to him in an inexplicable way. The Janelle family will NOT be happy when they find out who her mate is!
I really loves this wee world. I have enjoyed all the books in the series so far and can't wait for more!
Stegian was an intriguing character. You want to like him from the start. Then you learn of some things he's been doing and you really don't want to like him. But it's too late – you'll want him redeemed as much as Jacqueline. I wasn't sure why Jacqueline wanted to shield herself from her family. In the end the Janelle's rally together as a family. It was an enjoyable read.
Stegian is the 4th in the Interstellar Alphas series. While it can be read alone, I would recommend reading at least the 3rd book if not all of them for the best understanding of the Janelles and especially of Jacquelyn.
I remember reading this book when it was first released and I loved the story, I couldn't wait for this remastered and expanded version and I was not disappointed this was an amazing story I remember Jacquelyn Janelle from the first 3 books and I was hoping that she would get her own book. Stegian was an unlikely hero for me I honestly didn't think very highly of him until this book and I actually got to know him. I think these two make and amazing couple and I can't see her with anyone else now. I can only hope that more books in this series are coming because I would be disappointed for the series to stop here.
So worthy of a book hangover! The ultimate evil is not what he seems and there is hope to save him yet, at least that is what Jaquelyn has, hope. Incredible series wracked with memorable characters, humor, drama and as always tender love and kisses! This tells the story of Jaquelyn Janelle and her fight to retrieve the man behind the monster Stegian, her mate. I was totally enchanted with these characters and the strength and vulnerability they showed throughout the story which kept me tuned in for “one more page” half the night! **I voluntarily chose to review a copy of this book and I have not been compensated in any way**
This was the most interesting of the 4 stories in this series to me. Jacquelyn has long been trapped in the body of her as a child, but she has now become more. Stegian has a demon trapped in him. It is not his true self that has caused all the pain in Jacquelyn's family. I love how Jacquelyn goes after Stegian and is determined to free him. Yeah there are some unexpected events but dang I loved it and did not want to put it down. This is also the second time I have read this book, once under the old title then again with the re-release.
Jacquelyn is more than she was. And she is on a mission. A mission to separate her mate from evil. But will she be enough to make Stegian fight?
Stegian is fourth in Mandy M. Roth's Interstellar Alphas series. This is a quick but enjoyable read. It was completely unexpected and not where I thought Ms. Roth would take either of these characters. Although it was unexpected, I thoroughly enjoyed where Ms. Roth took us. It was a great twist. I loved seeing Jacquelyn fight for her man. Even as he thought he wasn't worth fighting for. I loved seeing the good beat back the evil. With this unexpected twist I can't wait to see where Ms. Roth will take us next.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As stated even though this is able to be read as a stand alone, most of the meaning of the story will be lost if the first three books have not been read. Stegian is a villain! In actuality he is a decent man possessed by a demon. Jacquelyn, the youngest of the Janelle's, has been basically in a coma for years. Her family is unaware of her ascension. She believes she was born to save Stegian from the demon. This story is a little confusing and seems to miss some points that would help clarify some scenes.
I must say that I generally enjoy everything I pick up by Mandy Roth. This book was no exception. Stegian is a man wronged by things outside of his control who has a woman that loves him trying to save him. Having not read the first three books in this series I instantly loved Stegian. His fight over evil was spell binding and had many a fraught moment that left me rooting for love to triumph. I find I must now go acquire the first three books in the Interstellar Alphas series and lose myself in this intergalactic world.
This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Project Exorcism series and is written by Mandy Roth. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Throughout this series I've seriously disliked Stegian. While I know this book was going to show him in a different light, I didn't really think my opinion would change. I was wrong! It showed the 2 sides of him and how the man felt about the monster. This book was awesome, it wasn't my favorite one though. It just goes to show how great this series was that I could think a book that wasn't my favorite was awesome!
This book was given to me for free at my quest and I provided this voluntary review. This book has so many twist and turns that I could not put it down til the end. Mandy you are by far one of my all time favorite authors because you make your characters so life-like that I cannot help to fall in love with them all. If you enjoy a book about redemption, you will definitely want to buy this book as soon as possible.
