Tobias

I wasn’t looking for a relationship, never even crossed my radar. Then one night in a crowded room, I caught a scent that seeped into my marrow. I followed it and found the shock of a lifetime. Someone was playing frigging tricks on me. She is Vampire and I’m Were. She is forbidden to me. But I never did do rules.

Sage

I wasn’t looking for a relationship. Hell, I’d never really even had a boyfriend. My daddy dearest would make anyone who looked at me sideways disappear, permanently. Then one night in a crowded room, I heard a voice. The resonation vibrated soul deep. I could not turn away. But he’s Were and I’m of the old blood. My father’s going to kill him when he finds out a Were has claimed me.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Actual rating is 3.65

I'm really disappointed in this book. I expected a lot of action but that did not happen. Everything was just fast forwarded. This book is a major fast read which is okay but lots of strings were not tied.
Spoiler
1.what happened to Rick and who is taking the supernorms.
2. The confrontation between Orion and Balliel's parents.
3. Whether the vamps accepted him and vice versa for the were wolves with her.
4. What do her friend Temp think about her being with a werewolf.

None of this was addressed it just sorth of finish mid sentence.

The plot is amazing if only it had more world building. Their love is rushed even though they are soul mates.

I still think the book is okay, an entertaining easy read.

I'm going to be honest; this novel was not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Paranormal Romance novel, but this one just didn't cut it. 1.5/5 Stars

PROS:
1. Interesting plot and world. I enjoyed learning about these different factions and how they operated. I liked how there were angels and fairies included--that's something you don't see all the time in the same world as Were's and Vamps.
2. Tobias was kind of a cool character, but I wanted to know more about him.

CONS:
1. Sage wasn't as likable as I wanted her to be. She seemed almost snobby and was used to getting what she wanted. I also didn't understand how she was so sheltered and had never really been with a guy and the next thing you know, she is hopping in bed with a stranger. It just didn't make sense.
2. The relationship between Tobias and Sage developed way too fast. I understand the sleeping together part (in general), but the whole "I love you" thing happened within 24 hours and wasn't believable. I get that they're mates, but does it really work that fast?
3. There was too much going on it seemed and it was all resolved too fast. First, there is this guy Sage's father is trying to get her to marry, but then he turns out to be evil and is quickly killed like it's nothing at all. Sage's father accepts Tobias way too easily for this anger he holds for the Were's. And why did Sage's father betroth her in the first place and not tell her? And then Tobias's brother goes missing, but Tobias could care less it seems and doesn't even go looking for him. Then, he just accepts that his brother is dead and goes back to sleeping with Sage. What?! Um, family first buddy. Some brother you are.
4. Everything was just too fast. When it ended I said, "That's it? Really? It's going to end that way?" It wasn't a terrible ending because everything was wrapped up, but I managed to read this in less that 3 hours and I wanted a bit more.
5. Character development could be improved. I wanted to know more about everyone and this strange world they lived in. Do humans know these creatures walk among them? How does this faction world operate?
6. I also couldn't believe when Sage bit Tobias's, uh, manhood, and drank his blood because that would seriously hurt and I doubt Tobias would be enjoying it as much as the author made it seem. That made that scene completely unbelievable.

Overall, I don't think I'll be reading any more of this series. If you are looking for a quick paranormal romance read, then this may be the one for you.

A quick, fine, to the point read, with action and romance and a bit of angst on the surface. I usually like the build up and slow pace in stories, specially romantic ones, but surprisingly, even with its pace and sudden jumps into scenes, the book worked; kudos to the author for making it work and work so well.
It's a paranormal Romeo/Juliet but with a significantly different ending. The book introduces us to a world of Paranormals, Vamps, Weres, Shifters, Fae and what not, even Angels are mentioned.
Our hero and heroine fall for each other the moment the lay eyes on each other, them being mates and all, and even though there are couple of hurdles in their way, they brace through them, stand up for what they believe in and hold dear to their hearts and eventually find peace and acceptance in each other.
A good read, I am not sure if I'll be following the series but I am pretty sure I'd be rereading this one!
Happy Reading...

I love a good paranormal romance, especially when Vampires and Werewolves are involved. I After Midnight, we meet Sage, a vamp, who's not looking for a mate but just a little fun. When she meets Tobias, a were, she realizes that even though she may not be looking for forever, it may have just found her anyway.
This story was fast paced, as it is a short story. The couple had to deal with the opposition of both their kind, which for me was a really underdeveloped part of the story. Even though I would loved to know a little more about their pasts, that didn't take away from the fact that I enjoyed getting to know these characters and the romance that quickly blossomed. I hope that there is more to come from this couple, maybe see what happens after everyone involved finds out about the once forbidden mated couple.

I love a good Paranormal romance. Bring on the Vamps, Werewolves and shifters. That being said, I had a hard time getting into this story. It was over almost as quickly as it began. And,while I usually enjoy the unlikely mating/pairing, and the trials and tribulations of being fated to complete opposites, Tobias and Sage just didn't work for me.

On the plus side I do like the premise of the story, A Were/Vampire pairing, and the author's take on the supernatural world was interesting, but I don't think it would be enough to make me read further into this series.

I really enjoy reading paranormal romances and I seriously enjoyed this one.  A Vampire and a Werewolf? Mates?  Wow, that seems totally unheard of, but not in this book.  I love Sage and Tobias.  Neither was looking for a mate, but on New Years Eve, they found each other.  This book was good.  It was well written and flowed seamlessly. The story was very engaging and there was never a dull moment. I can't wait to the read the next book in the series.

Can't wait to find out what happened to Rick

At first I thought Orion was going to rip Tobias head off after seeing him with Sage. Sage must have stopped breathing upon witnessing this display. Bellamy had some nerve to think he can force himself on Sage, she didn't want him. Her fate was already decided. What happened to Rick?

I love paranormal romance books and this was a bit different being the mating was a wolve and a vampire. I really enjoyed Sage and Tobias, they both found each other when they least expected it.

I just wish the story was a bit longer and had a tad more angst to it but, overall I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the arc to review this book

This is a short, fast paced, steamy romantic book. The characters are well written.

I enjoyed reading how Tobias was protective of his mate and how sage took the lead despite knowing her father hated wares.

Overall this book is a nice read.

I gave this book three stars because I like the idea for the story. If half stars were available for rating, I would have gone down half a star because I was left with too many questions in the end. It is a quick read and I feel like it just sort of ends without much resolution. In addition, the world building was slightly lacking, a few more details could have been filled in. The next book does not seem to carry on any of the threads from this story, from what I can tell from the synopsis, which is quite disappointing. If as a series, it is building to resolve the problem then that is one thing but as it is, the story feels incomplete and does not appear to have any resolution forthcoming.

Title: After Midnight: City of Sin
Series: City of Sin, #1
Author: Ursula Sinclair
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Cliffhanger:
HEA:
“We shattered each other but we put each other back together again too.”

For fans of insta-love, hot steamy scenes and the excessive use of the word ‘mine’ (which I did not complain about!).

I debated long and hard whether I should rate it 3 or 4 Stars, but eventually realized that, even though I liked this book, it wouldn't be fair to my other 4-Star reads, as I found After Midnight good but not great.

It's been a while since I've read anything with vampires and werewolves, and I can say that After Midnight was well written and I did enjoy it.
“Wherever you are is where I belong.”

It was fast paced and a quick read as I read it in one sitting, but I believe that it was the right length and everything, even though sometimes felt rushed, was nicely set. However, I did find the new information (about the Fractions, mating etc.) confusing half the book and I believe it could have been explained and introduced better, but it didn't really bother me all that much.

The characters were pretty good and the plot of the book was just the right mix of the story + romance. There are still some questions left unanswered but overall I liked the book and don't regret picking it up.
