Another Powerful Trilogy of Dragon's and Magic
In this trilogy by Ava Richardson, the evil mage King Enric has all but destroyed the former glory of Torvald and it's legacy of Dragon riders that bonded with the dragons of old. Now the dragons have been hunted down and killed, even books telling of their brave deeds have been forbidden by the king, who has passed laws that even possessing such books is an act of treason, and fear of dragons has replaced the once awe and respect citizens of Torvald held for dragons and their riders. In all this chaos there exist one man who still values books and tales of the old Dragon riders, as instilled in him from childhood by his father, who has now been executed by the King as a traitor for his possible breaking of his laws. The young adolescent Bower of House Darius bravely tries to uphold his father's ideals and carry on for the sake of his noble line, but a disgruntled servant reports his reading of old books, and Bower is forced to flee the city. This sets him on the adventures of his life as he first seeks to survive outside the city walls and eventually he meets up with a young girl Saffron, who has been raised by a den of wild dragons from the Western Isles, who is returning to the city to find out who she truly is. Little does Bower know both of them are destined to find out more than they ever imagined, and of the tasks they must accomplish to save Torvald and the people of the Middle Kingdom from the tyranny of the evil King. Together they forge a bond of friendship, and with the aid of Jaydra, Saffron's dragon and the rest of the Western Isles' dragons, they seek out the aid of the Northern tribe's and other wild dragons to form an army that can defeat King Enric. I very much enjoy all of Ava Richardson's tales of dragons centered around Torvald that scan a period of many generations. Her excellent writing skill leads the reader into adventures fit for young and old, and all in-between. I highly recommend this trilogy.
