While I appreciated the content and information immensely, the execution of the presentation lacked. In other words, the actual writing leaves something to be desired. The flow of passages was not present and grammatical errors were scattered throughout the text. With that being said, however, the book led me to some self-love and appreciation in a whirlwind time in my life. I’m thankful for the messages portrayed in this book and even took pictures of some of the passages in order to remind myself every day to listen to my heart. A perfect book to kick off 2019.

I have put this book up and down for years because I find the writing to be extremely cringe and self serious. I wanted to push through because I’m just ready for this book to be done so I can put it in a little library somewhere. There are so many grammatical errors it is jarring. The metaphors are extraneous. A broken clock is right twice, so sometimes you’ll have these relatively alright “poems” but for the most part I really wonder if the author understands the difference between poetry and an essay. The aesthetic is very 2010s brooding Instagram poet. “I’m deep, and dark, and you wouldn’t understand my vibes.“ I feel like the target audience for this author is women with low self-esteem, which gives me the ick. You have contradictory messages side-by-side with random freak nasty moments which was really weird honestly. I guess there has to be a level of courage to put this out there on the public forum, but there are better self-help and poetry books available by light years.

I came across a timely quote while mindlessly floating around Instagram one day. The quote resonated with me so I decided to investigated the author, Sylvester McNutt III, a self published poet/writer/speaker. Moved by some of his online work, I decided to pick up one of his publications and give his perspective some attention. I'm glad I did. Love is beautiful but it can also be messy. McNutt's prose handle this polarity rather well. Some of his writing helped me give my head a shake regarding past struggles with love, while other elements of the writing were so lovely that it made my spirit soar. I've dog-eared a couple dozen pages and I have a small army of screen shots that I take a look at from time to time. Should the book have gone through one more round of editing before going to print? Yeah, definitely. But glaring and minor typos aside, this book has been good for me.

This could have been a beautiful work of art but feels more like a mismatched draft. I really wanted to love this book, but I miss that feeling of knowing how someone put their heart and soul into a book. This feels more like a work made by someone over-confident, assuming anyone who reads it will love it because they are 'just that good' of an author. I miss the feeling of guttural emotion that this genre usually brings out.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. This book was not only on relationships but also on self love. It went over a lot of things that I would usually disregard. It gave me a new meaning to what Love really is. I highly recommend it.

Good read

Overall, good, easy read. Some moments really stuck with me. The writing is relevant. I'd recommend this book to any one who's blurred the line between love and "real love".

Enjoyable

There was a lot of perspectives in terms of love and relationships. Different perspectives I had never considered. Definitely opens up my mind even more.

Amazing

When I started reading this book, never did I think that my description of true love is way off the tangent to what love actually is. Love it!
