Co-founder of the digital culture magazine 'Wired', Kevin Kelly leads a double life: cyber-culture editor and independent photographer. For the past 30 years, and completely independently of his work on 'Wired', he has been traveling the far reaches of Asia photographing the ins and outs of daily life.

Kelly has the unique perspective of someone who lives in the digital fast lane and yet craves to experience and understand cultures far different from his own. In approximately 600 stunning, richly-coloured images, with no text whatsoever, Kelly shares his vision of Asia from East to West, from Afghanistan to Japan.

The scope of this book is so vast, flipping through the pages is like a journey, more akin to an epic film than a book. In Kelly's words: "My book is a wordless experience in remote Asia. The idea is that you open the book and fall into it. You become immersed in Asia."

This perhaps the most colourful book I have ever read - I use 'read' loosely for its 320 pages do not have any words whatsoever - as every page is totally full of colour photographs of Asia, as Kevin Kelly gives us his unique vision of Asia from East to West, from Afghanistan to Japan.

The scope of this book is vast, flipping through the pages is like a journey, more akin to an epic film than a book. We see a complete spectrum of life in Asia from the poorer parts of the continent to a view of the Taj Mahal and it is a pity that there are no words because it would be interesting to put place names to what we are viewing. Apart from the Taj Mahal and occasional glimpses of the Himalayas, the only definite area I recognised was the River Ganges where inhabitants were bathing and washing their clothes!

Having said that, the photographs, over 600 of them, certainly give a good idea of the culture and history of Asia and the book is a veritable visual delight. Kelly describes his book with "My book is a wordless experience in remote Asia. The idea is that you open the book and fall into it. You become immersed in Asia." And there is no doubt, one certainly does become immersed in it, seeing the sights and imagining the atmosphere along with the undoubted smells!
