Flynn’s Firecracker is the fifth book in the Heroes for Hire series, yet it can be read as a standalone novel. I read it as a standalone novel, but I do feel as though I would have understood things better had I read the prior books in the series. I only say this because some of the information was a bit daunting at first – once the story started to move, I was perfectly fine, but at first I did have a lot of questions. Therefore, whilst it can be enjoyed as a standalone novel, I honestly do feel as though it is beneficial to have read the prior books. Not to mention I’m now interested in reading the prior books, and will likely do such a thing once I’m more caught up with my mighty long reading list.
The story itself is a truly addictive one. I wasn’t sure how addicted I was going to become, but before I knew what was happening I’d completed the book in a single sitting. Once it had pulled me in, I found the real world was no longer of interest to me. I needed to know what happened next, and I needed answers regarding how things played out. With action on every page, with the romance simmering below the surface, this story really pulled me in.
Honestly, there’s so much action in this one. Events hit you one after the other. I’ll be honest and say I wanted a bit more mystery surrounding who was behind the events, but as the story progressed I came to enjoy the fact we had the knowledge. Rather than being obsessed with working out who was causing the trouble, I got to watch as the characters worked towards taking down the problem. I’m not usually a fan of novels that play out in such a way, but it really worked with this one. I really couldn’t have imagined it playing out any other way.
Although I felt as though I would know the characters better if I had read the prior books in the series, such a thing failed to prevent me from falling in love with them. It wasn’t simply the main characters I came to love: I really came to enjoy the side characters as well. That’s part of the big reason why I wish to read the other books in the series – everyone in this story was wonderful, playing a part, and they were all so real. I cannot remember the last time I feel in love with such a large cast of characters so quickly.
Overall, this was a great read. Despite my wish to have read the series in order, I cannot deny that Flynn’s Firecracker has certainly left me wanting more from the series. If you’re already a fan of the series, then I’m sure you’ll love this one. If you’ve yet to start the series, then you should join me on the journey of getting to know the characters.
This is the fifth book in the Heroes for Hire series that can be read as a stand-alone.
Former Navy SEAL Flynn Kilpatrick took on the trial run assignment of protecting a woman who owns and runs an animal shelter as a precursor to joining Legendary Security permanently. The bodyguard stint went off smoothly if you don’t count the sparks that flew between him and the feisty owner who didn’t like her independence challenged or her personal space violated. Flynn so enjoyed getting a rise out of the woman and taking care of the animals. He left his jacket at her place to have a reason to go back but before he gets a chance she runs into the compound upset and accusing him of harming an animal. What a great opening scene that was, suspense from the very beginning. Flynn’s job was her protection but it seems his presence placed a target on Anna, the past has come back to haunt him.
Anna Burrows loves animals and has made it her mission to care for them and find them great homes. When her best friend was threatened she had to put up with a sexy bodyguard who tended to push all her buttons but she admits to herself she liked the company and the help around the shelter. When he leaves as his protection is no longer necessary she finds a mutilated animal with the evidence pointing to Flynn and to say she’s furious is an understatement. Taking matters into her own hands Anna heads out to confront her former bodyguard in front of those who sent him to her. She doesn’t really believe the man who cared for the animals like he did would harm them but she has yet to calm down. Cooler rational heads prevail helping Anna regain her composure but further investigation at the shelter finds there’s more than an animal mutilation to deal with. This time it’s Anna that needs a bodyguard.
This story is aptly named, Anna is definitely a firecracker, anyone or anything that threatens her animals and she’ll fight like a tigress to protect them. The spirited give and take between the protagonists made this reader smile often, their chemistry was palpable, steamy and amusing. Flynn inadvertently brought danger to Anna’s doorstep and he’ll now do anything and everything to protect her and the animals but don’t discount how far a woman will go to protect the man she cares for. I loved the ending and Anna’s reactions to what she’d done. This hero for hire is now a hero for the homeless but don’t tell Levi. This story had great action and suspense and this reader loved that the storyline was inclusive of animals.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.
**Disclaimer: If you've read Merk's Mistake, book three, then you'll recognize this couple. Flynn was sent to protect Anna, Katina's (that book's heroine), best friend to ensure those after Katina didn't involve Anna.
Flynn, a former SEAL, has a reputation of being kicked out of the Navy. However, all isn't as it seems. He knows Levi's company is his chance to redeem himself and he's determined to prove he can do his new job. When he was sent to Anna's animal sanctuary to help, he felt a connection with her and knew it was mutual. Though they didn't act on it while he was working, now that the assignment is officially done, he's ready to explore their attraction.
Anna has devoted her life to helping animals and when she finds one brutally murdered at her house, she's heartbroken and furious. So much so that she's unable to think coherently and instead of the reunion she'd hoped to have wirh Flynn while visiting Katina, she's accusing him of the crime.
Once Flynn gets Anna to explain what happened, and how the knife he'd lost was obviously used and left as evidence against him, he's hurt she'd think him capable of something like this, knowing he loves animals. When Anna is able to think calmly and rationally, she immediately knows Flynn isn't responsible. So the question is who did do it and why?
As Flynn and Logan return with Anna to her home and sanctuary, they work to uncover who is behind the crime, as well as other things that are happening. Anna doesn't seem to have any enemies, so why would someone do this to her? Can Flynn keep Anna and her animals safe? Is Flynn? Or is someone from his past responsible for all this? Have they realized Anna is important to him, therefore she's become a target? Or is she just caught in the middle? Will Flynn and Anna finally succumb to their feelings for one another and fight for their future? Is there a HEA for them?
One-click now and follow along as two people who met under dangerous circumstances, are brought together for the same reason, but this time love is involved. Please keep in mind this is part of a series and I highly recommend reading the books in order.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
Yes. So much yes. He loves her - already. He's already planning for more, but he's not entirely certain what kind of MORE he wants - just that he wants it, he needs it, and he thinks she needs it, too. She's independent, a dynamo, a scrapper. She doesn't actually know how to ask for help and thinks she has to do everything on her own. She's able to admit this to herself and others, though, so her showing up on the scene the way she does IS her way of asking for help - without having to actually ask for help. His past - and here he doesn't even know how this plays out IN his past - comes back to haunt him, putting his wanted lover in danger. It takes a near-death experience for her to admit the truth to herself.
Their lives intertwine. He lives to protect and serve. She lives to protect and defend. It's a relationship destine to happen. Sparks fly between them before we even read their story - Ms. Mayer alludes to their romance in different books leading up to Flynn's Firecracker.
Why I liked it: resolution of a romance mentioned in other stories. Unfolding romance and slow surrender. Not quite a resignation that this will happen, but definitely an understanding that this WILL happen. Why I "disliked" it: I didn't think there was resolution of the drama - the past coming back to haunt him was not satisfactorily resolved. But then, psychology is a hobby of mine.
Was I satisfied? Yes. Will I buy more from this author? Of course! Is her writing decent/good? Yes. I've been proud to see the improvements she makes with every story.
Now, to sit on my hands and wait impatiently for her next book! Who will it be? Will he be smexy? Hot? Will the relationship be everything I want it to be? Will there be intrigue? Suspense? Excitement? Will I fall in love with these characters as I have most of her others? I certainly expect so! :)
Another great read by a great author. This story as a whole just keeps getting better and better. Flynn's story was surprisingly a lot better than I thought. To be honest, it took me a little longer to get into, but once I was hooked I couldn't stop reading.
Flynn was a character that wasn't really mention before except a little bit during Merk and Katina's story. So I didn't know what to think, but I am sure glad a stuck with this one cause I absolutely fell in love with Anna and Flynn's story. They are perfect for each other. Flynn is a little bit rougher around the edges but so easy to fall for. Like the others, he is fierce protector of all especially those he cares for. It is kind of refreshing to see the human sides of these men especially Flynn. His humanity in worrying or not he has a job and is part of Levi's family is sort of refreshing. So many times, I can't speak for anyone else, we see these Seals as super-humans and heroes. They are those things but sometimes it is forgotten that they are humans and go through all the things the rest of us do.
Anna's is the feistiest female thus far. She is strong willed and extremely independent. She is Flynn's equal match in everything. She doesn't let him get a way with anything. Her care for animals is lovely. I love the fact that she doesn't let her past effect her future.
Like I previously said, these two are perfect for each other. I love how they love each other.
One thing that has stuck out for me the most is that all these men are one woman for life kind of men. I love that about these series. Call me naive but I love stories where the men aren't these womanizers. I love stories were at the core are romances. The old school romance where boy meets girl and they fall madly in love though sometimes it take a lot for them to get together.
I have this book in the Heroes for Hire Bundle, Books 4-6, but I am reviewing them individually as I read them.
As this book opens you will recall Flynn is no longer providing protection for Anna. He's been gone for about a week and has also done another assignment since. One thing he did do, was leave his jacket hanging on the back of the kitchen door. An excuse to come back to see her. Unfortunately that little ploy is about to backfire.
When Anna wakes to an owl slaughtered on her doorstep, she calls the police, but after they left she found Flynn's jacket in her bedroom, with a bloody knife in the pocket. Furious she drives to Levi's compound to confront Flynn. Flynn was shocked and Logan suggests they test the blood on the knife. It was human. Now they have find a body and deal with the police.
Since Anna couldn't stay in her home and animal shelter, Levi invites her to stay at the compound and Flynn rides with her to explain why he left his jacket.
Things start to unravel as Anna gets a SEAL trident in the mail, and the team starts looking at some sort of connection to Flynn. The problem, whoever is responsible is targeting Anna and her no kill animal shelter.
In spite of Anna and Flynn both having tempers, they are really well suited to each other. They both have a love of animals, and I teared up when Anna got a very large donation check which allowed her to catch up on bills and would support many of the needed repairs.
Unfortunately things seem to escalate instead of calm where Flynn is concerned.
Fast paced, action packed and the heat turns up on the fiery relationship between Anna and Flynn.
I read the book where Flynn and Anna where introduced. They both were described as having firstly personalities. Flynn was described as a joker, similar to Anna. I expected their characters to clash, but I did not expect that somewhat out of control first scene. I also didn't expect for the person to ADMIT what was being accused wasn't believed and the behavior was only a reaction.
I liked the story. I listened to the audio book, but the narration was not great. I found it took away from the story. The tones and inflections didn't change enough for me to distinguish one character from another without the name of the character being mentioned. I know this is fiction, but I also didn't get the strength or depth of a command voice I would expect from a bunch of tall, muscled, alpha SEAL'S like described in the book.
The story itself was full of action, adventure, drama, danger, and suspense. The flow was fast paced and held my attention.
I would have liked more background info on both Flynn and Anna. They seemed more like enemies to friends than enemies to lovers. I wasn't picking up any romantic chemistry between them. I don't know if that was because of the narration or what.
I also didn't get that same sense of camaraderie among the team that I have come to expect. It felt like Flynn was on the outside looking in at some level.
I'm going with 3.5 stars. I had to look past the narration to get to the story, and that was pretty decent. Not much romance involved, but decent.
Suspense, terror, action and violence a plenty in this book, a real hold your breath read. I don't think I really relaxed at all reading this story so completely on edge with all the surprises jumping off the pages, I guess I suspected what was coming not so far into the story but it kept my fingers crossed just the same. I was fearful for both Flynn and Anna but also Logan as he was involved and around them so much. My heart is still pounding so much faster than it should be while writing this review, it's late and I should be asleep but needed to write this down first. I sped through the last few chapters, I just had to know the ending. Now I can relax and sleep, tomorrow I start Logan's book. Awesome, fantastic book well written with a flow that doesn't stop throughout, all the characters are strong, independent but caring of others and animals. Anna is also feisty, a hellion in protecting the animals and humans she loves a real tigress. Flynn is lighthearted, loving and protective, already completely smitten with Anna. So vivid is the writing I could picture the scenes in my head, especially some of the more intense ones. All in all I can truly say "WOW!" Heroes of course and I don't just mean the men.
First, I have to note that although the book was claimed to be stand-alone, and mostly it’s true, you’ll feel a bit ‘lost-in-space’ if you jumped right in to this book. You’d really better to read previous books, at least one before this, to understand fully Flynn and Anna’s story.
At the beginning of the book, Flynn already in love with Anna, and he’d planned for more with her, whatever ‘more’ was. However, there’s someone seems like having something to square with Anna, or is it with Flynn? The mystery surrounding ‘who is this guy’ was very captivating. I really read this book in one seat because I couldn’t not knowing what really was happening. So, I was like “one more chapter, one more, one more” and went it on until I finished the book. Excellent!
The chemistry between Flynn and Anna was palpable. I love those two. They’re perfect for one another. And the book’s title was very apt. Anna was a firecracker! Haha.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I was happy to see that Flynn and Anna got their story. From the sparks coming off them from the previous story, it was sure to be interesting and Ms. Mayer did not disappoint. These two characters were like gas and fire, when the got together sparks flew. It was quite an interesting mating ritual. Ha Ha. While it was not as actioned packed as some of the previous tales, it was still filled with suspense, drama, fun and brought to mind the plight of abandoned pets. I like that Ms. Mayer brings interesting subject matter into her storyline plots, and this one, about abandoned pets is one that is close to my heart. Each story couple is different and I like the diversity that the plots have as they play out. The stories always move along at a good pace, keep your interest, have interesting characters and keep the brotherhood or family feel of the military groups. I had to laugh that everyone is still trying to steel the compounds cook/butler/ house mother Alfred. Another great read leaving me eagerly awaiting the next book . I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this novel. Although I started this series (Book 5), instead of my usual thing of reading in order – it was ok to jump in at the end rather than the beginning! The story flowed well enough, and there was enough history that I was able to keep up – having said that – I am now also pretty keen to go back and start this series at book one and see what I have been missing!
This story was full of action, suspense, quite fast-paced and very well written. I enjoyed learning about the main characters, and I loved the interplay between them. The author has done a bang up job of creating believable people and you enjoy quite the ride along with them.
In summary, our hero, Navy SEAL Flynn Kilpatrick, is on assignment protecting a feisty, spirited lady (Anna) who runs an animal shelter. Inevitable sparks fly between these two as the protection gig occurs. Only problem is, that Flynn being around has now made Anna a target.
Suspense and drama follows…no spoilers here – suffice to say, this was a great plot line, loads of things happening, good resolutions. A totally satisfying read.
** I was provided this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
I was so looking forward to reading this book after the few hints dropped about Flynn and Anna and I was not disappointed. Things have been going well for Flynn and looked good for him to get a permanent role with Levis team but of course as things are going so well something has to go wrong now not only is the spot on Levis team at stake but the relationship he wanted to take further with Anna but be all but over. I really enjoyed seeing the soft side to Flynn when he cares for the animals as well as for Anna, while he lethal Seal side comes out without hesitation when she is in harms way. I think it was great that Flynn was vulnerable with what was going on and had his doubts it made him so much appealing and Anna's passion for her animals made me love her so much. There were some really great twists and tense moments that made this book so appealing I could not put it down!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review for The Assassin's reading reviewing group.
I have read the other books in the series, but found I could identify with this one.
A few books back, Flynn, our hero, was sent on a temp assignment to keep an eye and protect a friend of one of the other men. He was discharged from the military because he didn't listen to orders and followed his heart instead. Now he's hoping to get back into a military group, without being in the military, due to the company being SEALs like him.
The heroine has been struggling to take care of her no kill animal shelter, and she's had the hero at her house for awhile. He gets on her nerves and annoys her, but he has his uses as well. After he left the last time, and kissed her on the way out, she found his coat in her house. Then a dead animal shows up at her house and she blames him. However, as the hero and his team start to look into the strange happenings, they are finding it hard to believe its not liked the to hero. But why?
Great suspense and kept you guessing all the way along. The fighting between the hero and heroine made you laugh and times which evened out the suspense.
Flynn's Firecracker by Dale Mayer Heroes for Hire Series Book Five Flynn Kilpatrick had felt he'd done the right thing as a SEAL, but being he disobeyed orders...he was booted out. After a year of wandering, he's hoping to get on full-time with Levi's company, Legendary Security. But it looks to him like his bad luck has followed him and he's not sure where his future will be.
Anne Burrows has a small animal shelter. And a fairly boring life...until she gets a bodyguard. She enjoyed having the muscular man around to help with the animals but it was lonely when he left. And now, he's back...but has brought some type of trouble with him.
Their story begins in book three, Merk's Mistake, where Anne's friend Katina is in trouble and they send Flynn to protect Anne until the men after her friend are caught. Even in that book it hints at the fireworks between these two. Anne's temper and Flynn loving to ignite it. Another good story. **Sexual content https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Flynn is an ex-Navy SEAL and agrees to take a security job at an animal sanctuary in the hopes that once the job is complete Levi will hire him. Anna is independent and feisty and her whole purpose in life is to save animals.
From the moment they met the sparks flew and Flynn intended to pursue it once the job was completed. After he leaves she finds an animal that has been killed and all the signs point to Flynn however when she confronts him she believes that she was mistaken. They return to the sanctuary to investigate the crime however they are unable to locate anyone who would want to hurt Anna. The only other explanation is that someone is after Flynn are they aren’t afraid to use Anna to achieve their goal. Will Flynn be able to protect Anna and keep her safe.
I liked both these characters as Flynn was strong and protective and Anna was determined and self-sufficient. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 5th in the Heroes for Hire series and ends in an HEA. Flynn takes a trial run assignment for Levi to protect Anna and help at her animal shelter. All of this happens in a previous book. This story picks up after Flynn is done with his assignment. I really would have liked some scenes, even via flashback, of how Flynn and Anna interacted during his assignment. I think the relationship chemistry would have felt even stronger getting a glimpse of their initial interactions.
>The story has a lot of mystery and suspense. Trying to figure out if it was Anna or Flynn being targeted and why while attacks kept happening really kept this story moving. The romance was sweet and the rest of the Heroes for Hire make appearances, so the story feels very comfortable.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. Fans of the Heroes for Hire series will not be disappointed.
WOW! What an exciting story. This is about a new member of Levi's team - Flynn. He made the team after successfully keeping Anna safe. Unfortunately, now a man who hated Flynn started tormenting Anna. Flynn tries to protect Anna but is finding that difficult to do. Flynn figured out who the guy was and does all he can to get him to jail. He finally is arrested after he shoots Anna in the arm and Flynn gets him. Unfortunately, he is released from jail and promptly shoots Flynn in the chest. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the chapters where Flynn's life in on the line. When he makes it out of surgery, the guy tries again to kill Flynn but Anna saves Flynn and promptly kills the bad guy. Flynn then proposes to Anna and she says yes but both have a long road of recovery to deal wirh. I am happy these two found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.
Flynn is ding a trial job for Legendary and is looking after Anna and her animal shelter but he finds easy but his trouble starts when he leaves after the job finishes. Anna had enjoyed having Flynn's help and couldn't help being attracted to him so was a bit relieved when he left but also really needs him when there is a dead man on her property. It becomes apparent that someone really wants to kill Flynn and really has no problem if other people die as part of the process. Can they both survive?
Wow - this was very dramatic and had so many twists and turns there was no way you could be bored reading it. I loved the relationship between the feisty Anna and Flynn - they made a great couple and were definitely made for each other. There were some drama, some thrills and some really tender moments too. I loved the way the animals were melting the hearts of these touch ex-SEALs in the story - proof that everyone has a soft side if you only know where to look for it.
I do love these books. The author does such an excellent job setting the scene and delivering exactly what you need and want from each character and the supporting cast. Anna is such a spitfire. She let's the tougher the nails Flynn by with absolutely nothing and I cheered her on even though he is a great guy. He needs a woman in his life who can challenge him after all! Anna is just phenomenal and the way they both love animals just melted my heart. Actually the way most of the Seals stepped in and helped out melted my heart. What I loved most about this book though was who the author chose to make the bad guy. That was a breath of fresh air to see not all in uniforms are good, because there are people reading these books who might be swayed wrong and find themselves in bad situations. Kudos to the author. I can't wait for the next book. I volunteered to read this book.
This is the fifth book in the series Heroes for Hire and I have to say this one really is better if you've read the earlier books. The main characters, Anna and Flynn actually met in a previous book and both felt an attraction to the other. Although, both Anna and Flynn were only briefly mentioned in the earlier books, it set the stage for this book. So even though they had met, neither character acted on the attraction. In this book, Flynn is looking for an excuse to see Anna when she actually gets pulled into danger by someone looking to punish Flynn. This novel had all of the suspense we've come to expect from Dale Mayer's SEAL novels with a touch of romance. Definitely an enjoyable read and I can't wait to see what's next in the series.
This was a story that had some ummph. Some adrenaline. Some bite. Some passion. Suspense, action, drama. The pace stayed steady with flares that really got things going and going. This was the light of fire that I needed to have. The scenes are on various waves depending on the setting. The richness. The intensity.
The passion heating between the two was befitting of explosives. The was more sexy, steely, strong SEALs to go all the way round. I have yet to read the first two of this seires but I have no doubts that I will be drawn in to them just as easily as I was with this read. Flynn and Anna were explosive together and to-gether. I went in looking for me a high intensity read that provided drama, suspense, and lots of action and I got that and some. The pacing made it all work perfectly together.
Anna is in a rage, someone has killed one of the animals she was looking after. They left the body on her doorstep. When Flynn is confronted by a furious Anna, waving a bloody knife and his jacket at him he is dumbstruck. How could she think he did that. Someone is out to get revenge, but who??. It gets more and more dangerous every day. Anna is in way over her head. All she is used to doing is rescuing animals, not dealing with bodies and flying bullets. Flynn will gladly take the help of his friends and colleagues to catch the killer. This is part of a series. I hadn't read the previous books and still really enjoyed this, but it would have been better to have read the others first. The story moves so fast you don't have time to draw breath. Very exciting, with wonderful strong characters. I will now have to read some of the others. I loved it.
Really good read. I definitely enjoyed Anna's spunky character and Flynn's funny one. They were perfect for each other, especially since they went right for the relationship instead of playing games, which is so frustrating, especially when its adults.
The book flowed nicely and in turn was really engaging and subsequently a page turner. The only thing I didn't get from the book was, why did Brendan get kicked out of the military and why did he blame Flynn? That was discussed but never reached a reasonable explanation. That would have been a better addition to the story than a bitter, dishonorably discharged military man, hellbent on revenge on someone who didn't even deserve it. So while a interesting read, it did feel a bit incomplete in that aspect.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed Flynn and Anna's story but as I haven't read the previous books in the serie, I was missing on some fact and the first part of the relationship. So when this book starts with her going crazy at him, I have to say I was surprised but very intrigued :) I really liked Anna's personality, her stubbornness in taking care of her animal despite the danger she faces. Her protectiveness then transfers to Flynn whom she defends like a bear mama haha. Flynn was an intersting character to discover but I grew less attached to him as he seems to be always restraining himself due to his fear of losing his place with Legendary Security.
As for the story, it was just the perfect mix of romance, suspense, drama and animal love :) A good and enjoyable read.
Dale Mayer has written yet another exciting addition to Heroes for Hire. Book 5 was exciting and sweet.
This book, like the others in this series pulled me into the story and pulled me along in the excitement, adventure, drama, mystery, attempted murder, murder as well as the sweet romance that takes place between Flynn and Anna.
I loved the feisty fire Anna brought to this book, not only with Flynn but any and all others she came in contact with. Anna's love of animals was a beautiful addition to the personalities Dale has brought to this series.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good read filled with excitement and romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book and gave it a 5 star rating because I fell it is a well written story.
Having not read any other books in this series I didn't know what to expect when it came to this one, but I was NOT disappointed. This book was really enjoyable. The only thing is that I wish I knew the rest of Flynn and Anna's backstory from the previous book, but even without having that I felt this book had a great flow and kept me on the edge of my seat. Trying to guess who was after either Flynn or Anna was really half the fun. I loved that Anna was a strong women and I loved that she had an animal rescue. It was also awesome that Flynn and the other guys helped her out with them at times. Flynn's feeling sure run deep for her from the beginning of this book, it had nice banter between the two of them also!
The writing was great and overall an excellent book, I highly recommend.
Another great one by Dale Mayer and I am sooooo loving this series. Each story has another alpha Seal falling for a strong woman and this one is no exception. This time Flynn falls for Anna who we were briefly introduced to in a previous book. When Anna seems to be in danger, Flynn steps in to protect her as he has already fallen for her but first they have to figure out who is doing this. The sparks and chemistry fly between the two and there is a reason why the book is called Flynn's Firecracker...very fitting. There is suspense, action, danger and of course the romance between the two who are perfect for each other. Can't wait for the next one!!! *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
I have been looking forward to ths book since I read Merk's Mistake. It seems that Anna and Flynn have been butting heads for a while.
This is book 5 in the series, but can be read as a standalone. Dale Mayer has created a great set of characters who engage you from the very first page. Both Flynn and Anna both rub each other the wrong way and it lends to many quite humerous encounters.
As the series progresses the characters and storylines become more complex.
I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. It was gripping and quite stressful as times. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves romantic suspense and Dale Mayer.
Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with the oppoetunity to read and review this book.
I have had many of her novels on my TBR but this is the first one I have opened. I was right away into this one with the characters providing the necessary combustion and fire. Flynn and Anna will entertain you in this one sucking you in to their dilemma. Rumbles between the two entertain along with their heat that starts to rise. Suspense will also wiggle its way in giving you lots to chew on. With that added spice this author takes you onto the edge. I stayed with them throughout having to have my answers with by the time I reach the end I was more than satisfied. I will definitely be squeezing more of her novels in the near future.

This was pretty good. Really interesting in the beginning until the mystery pretty much got solved as soon as the problem was introduced XD It still had a bit of suspense, but it was less detective and more 'When will they strike next?' kinda thing. Still, the suspense bit was really cool. I didn't click with this installment as much as the other books in this series and the one it spins off from, but they were still pretty cool in their own right. A recommend for those who love military men being heroes (sorry Levi lol).
