Another pretty good mystery

I enjoy the mysteries in this series because most of the people are good people who are pleasant to read about, although of course there have to be some bad guys in a mystery series. But I do not like mystery stories where everyone is despicable and I don't care about the solutions because what happens to people is either what they deserve or better than what they deserve. Fortunately with Hope Callaghan as the author, I know that most of the people will be good people or at least people who are trying very hard to be good, even if they do not always succeed, which is not necessarily unrealistic. Of course, some people are lazy enough or self-centered enough that they do not even try to be good, and some people are desperate enough that they do not believe that it is possible to be good and survive, and sometimes it seems like some people are in a desperate enough situation that there is no obvious solution to their problems. But this book is not about people who were that desperate. It involves some people who do not care if they hurt others, but fortunately it is about a lot more good people who do care and who together are more than a match for the bad guys. That is the type of mystery book that I like best.

What a fun mystery!

The Garden Girls are up to their eyeballs again in this mystery. It was a lot of fun reading about Lucy and Margaret’s new endeavor and I hope to read more about it in the next book of the series.

I love how I’m always reminded in Hope’s books to turn to God immediately in times of trouble.

The book is well written and enjoyable. I like the importance of faith to the characters. It’s a well written, well paced book that you just want to keep on reading. There are a lot of surprises in this book although not so ridiculous to be thought unbelievable. This is the first novel by Callaghan that I’ve read. Overall I liked it.

Dying for dollars

Was a great read. As all of Hopes books.. The story line is always written as if your right there watching every move. And at times she slips in humor just when you least expect it and laugh out loud.

Another excellent chapter in the lives of the Garden Girls. Their antics are really quite believable, as you can imagine a close not gang of girls getting up to all sorts of antics in their latter years.
A super read.

Dying for Dollars is the 16th installment in Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series and is a great addition to this outstanding series. Once I started reading this book, I didn’t want to put it down, and was sorry when I read the words ‘the end.’ As always, Ms. Callaghan has written a well thought out and interesting mystery, with a good story line and excellent character development. The writing style flows smoothly at a steady pace. The mystery is well thought out and there are enough suspects, and twists and turns to hold the reader’s interest. Ms. Callaghan's books are always clean reads and share a strong message of love, friendship, compassion, and caring. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading a well-crafted cozy mystery.

Gloria Rutherford-Kennedy and the ‘girls’ are all very concerned for their dear friend and fellow Garden Girl, Margaret, who had been distancing herself from her friends since the passing of her husband. Lucy has a great idea to help get Margaret’s mind off her recent loss and to start a new chapter in both their lives and she manages to keep it a secret. She asks everyone to meet her at Dot’s Restaurant because she wants to share some wonderful news with them. Once everyone is gathered together, she tells them she has something to show them but they need to go somewhere first. When the reach their destination, tells them that she’s obtained a real estate license, purchased a dilapidated two-story farmhouse, and asks Margaret to go into a rehab business with her. Much to most everyone’s surprise, Margaret thinks it’s a fabulous idea until they enter one of the upstairs bedrooms and discover a man’s body in the closet doorway. Officer Joe Nelson, Deputy Sheriff Elaine Bowman, who is new to the force, and Detective Jack Green are assigned to the case. The victim, Aaron Drake, was strangled and the feds are called in because evidence found at the crime scene. After some unsettling things happen, Gloria and the other Garden Girls decide to put on their sleuthing hats.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Gloria Rutherford-Kennedy was waiting in Dot's dinner for some of the Garden Girls. Lucy wanted to tell everyone a surprise. Lucy and Margaret showed up and Lucy told them that she got her Realtors Licence and bought an old farm house to renovate and resell for profit and that she wanted Margaret to help her with it giving Margaret something to do. All the girls got together to clean up the farm house when they discovered a dead body. After calling, the police found that someone was counterfeiting money there. One thing leads in to another and of course the Garden Girls have to figure out who the murderer is!
