Tucker Jenson has spent his life gunning for the big leagues. Until he made a promise that he never expected to keep.
Trapped in a small town, he cares for his younger siblings and spends his nights on nameless girls and his days as a fallen sports hero. Then a new face shows up in the stands and turns Tucker’s predictable life upside down.
Wild and carefree, Bird, as he calls her, enters his bed and his heart, showing Tucker that you only get one life to live.
Roxy lives in the South with her family, two dogs and a semi-feral cat. She loves to hang out with her friends, ogle hot young men and then write dirty stories about them.
Who doesn't love a good looking baseball player? Add in a nineteen year old who gives up his chance at going pro to stay behind and care for his broken family...to keep a promise to his father who never returned from Iraq. Ladies let me give you Tucker, he is the small town hero that will always be the greatest baseball player who never was. The brother & father to his 3 siblings and the one person holding everyone together while his mom falls apart. He is broken, he is sexy and all the girls in town want to give him a few minutes of pleasure to give him a few moments of feeling fixed
Coaching a little league team he sees her. He doesn't know who she is, but he wants to. Hollis, is in town to help her brother's wife, who is on bed rest with her second child, and to assist with her nephew Felix. Hollis is a free spirit. Going where ever the mood takes her, she is older than Tucker but he is drawn to her. The way she lives is something that he can't have - something he gave up.
She is his bird.
But even after a short time, he knows she will have to leave - it is who she is. But she leaves him with something that shows him there is more out there for him. And even though she is a free spirit satisfied with traveling to town after town, part of her misses him. But something so wild may not be able to be tamed...
This was very cute story told completely from Tucker's POV. Part of the story at the start was a bit jumpy - trying to sort out all the players and such, but it falls into place. You really got a sense of how down on himself he was on not being able to follow his dreams to go pro. There was something in the way it was written and worded that just got that feeling across. A small town boy that has talents that should have taken him to the top - held back for a promise he never expected to last forever. A man who is stuck between following his heart and taking care of his family and loving a girl that pushed him.
Took a complete chance on this one and fell in love with the pure sweetness of this. No agnst - no cheating - no drama...just pure sweetness, rainbows and sunshine.
A fantastic read!! A young 19 year old who had fame and potential to make it big is angry and down while he helps his family with their current situation. His life is turned around when he meets a new girl in town. She is different not just because she is in her late 20s, he feels a deep connection to her, but that she does not look down on him and pushes him to fight for his dream. I loved how they both changed each other and that near the end they ended up switching places.
Loved this story. Hot, well-written sex scenes made me feel like I was part of it, but it was the heartfelt characters that made the story special. Many authors can write sex, but this book also has an interesting story to go along with it.
Written in casual, first-person-present-tense, the reader experiences the story from Tucker's viewpoint as he and the elusive Bird fall in love. Could easily be classified as a romance if it wasn't for the blistering hot sex on every other page. Just as special as the interaction between Tucker and Bird, the scenes between Tucker and his family are perfectly written, showing the conflict between his commitment to them, and his desire to get on with his life.
I guess the highest praise I could give this book is that it made me care about these two characters, experiencing their lows and highs along with them. So I've found a new author to add to my favorite's list, and I'm off to buy her other book.
Well done. Five stars because that's the most they allow.
This was my second read from this author and I enjoyed this book just as much as the first.
Tucker is a guy who has lived baseball his whole life. Everyone knew he would make it to the big leagues until the day his dad doesn’t come home from Iraq. He spends the next few years taking care of his family and using sex as a salve.
Tucker meets Bird who is taking care of her sister-in-law and nephew, who is one of the boys he coaches in little league.
Sparks fly from the first time they meet and what follows is a steamy, sexy, romantic story. I totally enjoyed reading how the relationship grows and how it changed both Tucker and Bird.
Summary: This is about Tucker and Hollis. He’s the town’s baseball prodigy who was left taking care of his family and abandoning his dreams while she’s a visitor with wild spirit, stirring his once forgotten hopes. But Tucker’s dreams and responsibilities takes him to places, ones different from where Hollis unknowingly will fly to.

There really wasn’t much to it. Fun quick read. But not for ones who avoid manhos cause he sure was one.
I would’ve loved to hear from Hollis since just as Tucker she was quite interesting/fascinating in her own light.
I loved the male pov, it doesn't happen enough. Tucker is stuck, he has to be there for his family. Bird is a wild and free spirit, the chemistry between these 2 characters is off the charts hot! I was hooked from start to finish!
synopsis: tucker is 19 years old, and is still living large around his hometown, because he turned down a chance to go pro when his father died. he had promised his father that he would help his mother look after his younger siblings if something happened to him. tucker doesn't have to work to get women because of his sports status, so when one women that he's interested in doesn't respond right away, he is intrigued. bird, as he calls her, is only in town while her brother is away on deployment and her sister-in-law is bedridden from her pregnancy. they start a relationship, with bird encouraging tucker to go for his dreams.
what i liked: the premise. i liked what i knew of tucker and bird.
what i didn't like: i felt as though i didn't get to know either character really well, and that tucker certainly didn't get to know bird well enough to fall in love with her, because they never seemed to talk, just have sex.
Just did not do it for me. It was ok, but it could not get into the characters. Especially Bird/Hollis. There was just no,relationship outside of sex, so why believe there could be?
