Will the Ferguson Children Finally Break the Curse?
Nestled in the shadowy embrace of ancient oaks, the Idlewood Plantation whispers with secrets of the past. Carrie Jo and Ashland, bound by fate and mysteries untold, find themselves once again at Idlewood's enigmatic threshold. A fortuitous stroke of luck grants them a chance to complete their unfinished work, but the plantation's eerie corridors are not done with them yet.
As the couple delves deeper, they encounter a new spectral plea — a lost Ferguson ghost, its motives as enshrouded as the misty Southern nights. With Rachel away on an unexpected journey, guidance falls to Austin, whose enigmatic presence casts a long shadow over their efforts. CJ's suspicions about him simmer beneath the surface, threatening to derail their quest.
In the heart of Idlewood, where whispers of the past linger in the air, the Stuarts face a labyrinth of old grudges, hidden truths, and a curse that clenches its grip with each passing hour. Will they unravel the ghostly messages in time, or will their farewell to Idlewood demand a price too great to bear?
In "The Haunted Child," tension rises like the Southern spirits, ensnaring the reader in a tale of haunting mysteries and dark family legacies. Can love and determination triumph over the shadows that lurk in Idlewood? The answer awaits, cloaked in the eerie silence of the plantation that refuses to relinquish its hold.
I'm not a stranger to reading out of order as everyone knows by now. This one...I asked the library to find the book and it took them a LONG time to come up with this one...the last in the Idlewild series. I guess fate was somewhat on my side as I asked for it in January and they got this one in time for Halloween. I've read other books by this author and have always enjoyed her spookiness. Maybe it was because it's the last book in this series, but I felt that something was missing. There wasn't as much goose-bump producing scenes as there had been in some of the others by this author. For one thing I felt that I was left hanging with unanswered questions. What happened to Gage and Bridget? I have no idea.... but would have liked to know. Maybe they are they going to be Idlewild's next ghostly visitors. What about Carrie Jo and Ashland? Did the house ever settle down? I Know it was a short book, less than 200 pages, and this writer's imagination has always been off the wall fantastic enabling her to create stories that the reader doesn't soon forget. This one (?)...it just felt like she was...well, just finished. It's a good story.... but maybe I just wanted more.
This is book 4 in the Idlewood Collection and although I went slower with my reading...because it was literally the LAST book in this series- it was captivating. I can not believe how it ended and am now on a search for another book because I feel so undone. Carrie Jo has more to share. What about her brother? I have so many unanswered questions..but for now I sit and wait. I am reading M.L. Bullock's books completely OUT OF ORDER- and after this amazing series (FIVE STARS PEOPLE!) I am onto the Seven Sisters Collection. Yes, I think I shall read all of M.L. Bullock's books from this year into next. Another challenge!
The Haunted Child is by ML Bullock. It is book 4 in the series.
Bridget had survived her husband and her brother Michael. She continued to live at Idlewood with her son. Her ghost had been tamed and she was reunited with her sister Trinket. Trinket was a ghost and haunted the house. Now there was a child in the house. It looked like she has it made; but the ghosts won’t let go.
These books are just fun to read and see what comes next; but basically they are all alike.
As usual, M L Bullock does deliver a decent southern ghostly tale, although once again, I’m left with questions. I still don’t know what happened to Gage or Bridget. Wrap them up tightly in a bow, if you want a five star rating. Nevertheless, I plan to read a few more of her books about Carrie Jo, the ghostly dreamer, so I clearly think you might enjoy them too.
I was enjoying the story when it abruptly ended. It was like someone was writing the story, got interrupted and when they went back to it they forgot where they were and ended it. Up to this point the series was very good, but very disappointed with this book. I am assuming there will be a book 5?? Don’t know, we are just left hanging.
Truly awesome but kinda felt like something's missing
I loved this story but I feel like I'm missing something. I hope there will be more to this because I feel like there need as to be more just for the sole purpose of a little closure.
I don't like giving bad reviews, but this series goes downhill. With every book, the plot gets vaguer and vaguer and is rushed faster and faster. I only finished the last two books because I my time invested in this series already warranted finishing them.
Love the series, pulls you in holds you to the end. The characters so likeable and hateable, well developed. The story has enough details to take you there. This is book 4 in the idlewood love ghost ,mystery, and a great story pick this up
This was yet another great book. I absolutely love this series. Hoping another book will come out because I’m not done reading about Carrie Jo and Ashland.
