I DON’T CARE ABOUT YESTERDAY, ONLY RIGHT NOW AND TOMORROW

I enjoyed the story that is number eight in the Pendleton Petticoat series. Ms. Hatfield has a way of spinning a story that will take the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions. The story is a continuation of the series but is told in a way that the reader does not feel lost, and she gives enough background on previous characters without retelling their stories. The story will read well as a standalone novel. I laughed out loud, I sighed, and I cried sad tears and happy ones. This is the story of Nik and Dally, “a reminder that every day is a precious gift and we never know when it might suddenly be our last.”

Doctor Nikola “Nik” Zorian Gandiaga Nash, adopted son of Aundy and Garrett Nash has finished his medical school and training and has returned to Pendleton to join in a practice with Doctor Reed. His plan includes establishing his practice, acquiring new patients, and building his career. At present, he doesn’t believe he has time to find a wife, one who can understand his goals and accept his chosen profession.

The Douglas family have returned to Pendleton for the summer to their ranch, B Bar D, and they are excited about the upcoming first ever Pendleton Round-Up and Westward-Ho Parade. A family situation back in Asheville will have part of the family returning home, but Dally and Hunter will remain.

Dally Douglas is very much like her mother, Dacey, a spunky, unconventional woman who loves to be outdoors and working with horses. She has her dreams of marrying a cowboy, rancher, or at the least, a farmer. Dally is a risk-taker and has been injured several times in the past working with horses, but it has never deterred her from continuing that path.

The plot will have Dally and Nik meeting and both liking what they see, but both with preconceived notions about what they want with a mate. The more Nik and Dally get to know each other, the muddier their thoughts of a life partner become. After the accident at the Round-up, and Nik becoming Dally’s doctor, they will spend hours together getting to know each other.

Nik is falling in love with Dally, and after the birth of Aundy’s baby, those feeling become stronger. “He wanted Dally to be the mother of his children, to be his wife and life partner, Nik could no longer deny his feelings for her.” “Most of all, he loved who she was—gentle, kind-hearted woman with a tender spirit. Oh, she might be full of feisty bravado, but deep down, she was a caring soul with an amazing capacity for love.” Dally would be content to live in Pendleton, and her feelings for Nik continue to grow into love. “He drew her like a magnet to metal.”

What happens with their cousin, Billy Douglas, and a family friend, Jarod Hollis show up in Pendleton and Jarod proposes to Dally and kisses her in front of Nik? Hurt feelings, betrayal, anger, confusion and a need for separation will break two people’s heart. Will Nik let Dally leave without telling her how he feels? Dally doesn’t understand why Nik is cold and avoiding her. Will they finally admit their feelings for each other, something everyone around them can see, or will this be the end?

Young, handsome, ambitious and grateful, Doctor Nik Nash returns from his medical training in New York and Chicago to begin his career in his beloved Pendleton. Driven and Intent on his practice, a beautiful and spirited young girl visiting from her home in North Carolina throws Nik's plans into a turmoil. Dahlia Douglas happens to be the daughter of former Pendleton resident Dacey Douglas and wealthy plantation owner Braxton Douglas. She is intent on someday marrying a true cowboy as she loves nothing better than horsemanship, much like her mother. But Dr. Nik? He could care less about that. Thrown together by a freak accident, they must somehow come to grips with their approach/avoidance mutual attraction to each other.

Author Shanna Hatfield's Pendleton Petticoats book #8 reads almost like a personal "thank you" to her faithful fans who have read the entire series, including the prequel Dacey, Bride of North Carolina. Virtually everyone who is anyone (including Steve the mule) makes an appearance in this sweet and nostalgic romance which takes us back to the very beginning once again. It is also a heartfelt tribute to the joys and blessings of adoption as ultimate survivor Nik overcomes orphanhood as well as being shot and left for dead as a youngster. Featured is the noble and very pregnant Aundy Garrett who is Nik's adoptive step-mother. (is it a boy or girl?)

Could a reader, unfamiliar with the Pendleton Petticoats series, enjoy Dally? Yes, it is a "stand-alone" book. However, in order to understand the dizzying array of family, friends, and acquaintances from the other seven books in the series, perhaps it would be a good idea to begin reading the entire series from Dacey and Aundy. Give it a go, dear readers, you'll not regret it!

Dally by Shanna Hatfield is a very enjoyable read.
It is a wonderful, delightful story & series.
This sweet love story is about two people who are attracted to each other, but afraid to admit it.
Dally comes to Pendleton once or twice a year with her parents & brothers to visit the family ranch. She is an independent & tenacious woman, who loves horses.
Nik, who was raised here, has come home to join the town Doctor.
With him being the town's new Doctor, he is not ready for a relationship. He needs a wife who was understanding of his schedule.
Dally is injured while competing in the "Round Up",
Nik takes care of her. The more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. They enjoy each other's company
Nik knows that Dally loves her horses & wants to marry a cowboy & live on the family ranch. But Nik is a Doctor & needs to live close to town.
Can these two people look past what they think they want & see that their perfect for each other?
It always great reading about the friends & family in Pendleton.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE TO READ!!!

Oh boy this is the best story in the Pendleton Petticoats series at least in my opinion. Shanna Hatfield has packed this story with so much like giving us the peek into the lives of our favorite characters, reminders of so many of the characters lives and what has happened in them, including the book Dacey from the American Mail Order Bride series which it the prequel to this series. This is a wonderful story about Dacey’s daughter Dally who is staying in Pendleton after their whole family has been there a couple of weeks to be at their ranch which was Dacey’s family home that was once a farm. Hunter who is one year younger is staying with her as the rest of the family heads back to North Carolina to their Plantation where they raise racing horses.
It is also about Nik Nash finally returning home as a doctor who is going into a partnership with Doc Reed. He arrives the same day the Douglas’s are leaving on the train back to go home. He is at the train station when the Douglas’s are getting ready to leave and helps them load up a cart with their luggage to take to the train. He is happy to see them again but hasn’t seen Dally or Hunter for a long time. Dally was fourteen or so the last time he saw her and he is twenty five, but he sees her differently now that she is a grown woman.
Dally and Hunter are staying for the first Pendleton Round Up and are excited to stay behind a few more weeks to participate in the Round Up and to do more at the ranch they where they are staying and around to town.
Dally is only interested in a cowboy who wants to work on the ranch as she is like her mother and crazy about horses and she works along with the other ranch hands at home in North Carolina and here. As for Nik Nash she realizes he is a very handsome man who is a doctor, who rides not a horse but a motorcycle in this 1910 story,
She is not at all interested in someone that doesn’t like horses even if he did grow up on one of the most successful ranches in Pendleton. She can’t understand why he doesn’t just ride a horse like everyone else. Nope he is not for her.
This story has fun, adventure and a lot of getting to know others in town as Nik and Dally find themselves in a situation after the Round Up and he becomes her doctor. As you can imagine being doctor and patient they are frequently together as he has to go visit her at the ranch while she is convalescing at the ranch and restricted to the ranch and at first bed. He makes daily visits to check on her and you can imagine in fascination with this feisty, sassy, and fun horse woman who is all alluring.
I have read all the stories in this series including Dacey and each on gets better and better.
This one is the most fun and endearing and romantic and different from the others that I just can’t help but love this one the best. I loved every one of the stories in this series and each on has a place in my heart but this one will remain my favorite well maybe until the next one comes out.
I would encourage all those who love this series to pick up this book and I know you will enjoy it. If you haven’t read any of these stories yet start with Dacey.
I received this ARC in return for my honest and unbiased review.

Dally is a nice addition to the Pendleton Petticoat series by Shanna Hatfield. Many of us have been waiting for Nik to get his story and it was a pleasure to finally get to read his happy ending/beginning! :)

Dally has the trademark sass and feistiness that many of Ms. Hatfield’s heroine’s exhibit. Her strength rivals that of Aundy, the first heroine in this series. Dally is also more than a bit stubborn, prideful, and competitive. In her youthful arrogance, she has quite an attitude towards Nik and it made her a little difficult for me to fully like at times. But Nik is not so easily scared away and both Nik and the reader are rewarded with a bit of maturing in Dally’s character as she lets go of some plans for herself that she so fiercely holds onto at first and opens herself up to something different than she expected for herself. It was also fun to see Nik prove some of Dally’s original judgements of him wrong. As the book progresses, Dally finally allows herself to see that there’s a lot more to Nik than her prideful, hasty youth was, at first, unwilling to admit.

I loved getting to know Nik as an adult after having met him as a young teen in the first book and getting glimpses of him throughout the series. Though Nik has his own reservations about a relationship with Dally to begin with, he’s a wonderful hero who is perfect for Dally. She keeps him on his toes and he is not intimidated by Dally and doesn’t let her walk all over him. He’s patient with her when I think many men would probably get a little frustrated with her and he loves her for who she is. He was a great hero to get to know.

One of my favorite things in this novels were some subtle connections between the characters in this series and the characters in some of Ms. Hatfield’s other series. If you’ve read her Baker City Brides series and her Hardman Holiday series, be on the lookout for some fun little references to the characters in those series. I may have even caught a reference to a character in one of Kit Morgan’s series.

Thank you, Ms. Hatfield, for another sweet, clean romance with just the right amount of spice.

I loved Dally and Nik’s story! Dally knows she wants to marry a cowboy and live on the ranch. Nik is just starting in his medical practice and knows he can only be married to his career right now. Their minds may know these things, but their hearts won’t listen. And what a joy it was to watch as their hearts convinced their minds!

Dally is a spitfire. She’s a strong woman who knows her mind. She’s sassy, caring and passionate. She’s completely comfortable working on the ranch, but still enjoys being feminine. I loved the close relationship she had with her brother.

Nik is the kind of man I’d want my daughter to marry! He’s kind, caring, generous, helpful, and intelligent. He has a sense of humor, is amazing with kids, and loves family. Oh, and on top of that, he’s handsome and strong. ;)

I loved their story! I’m so glad it was Nik’s turn to have his own story and fall in love. And Dally needed a story to rival her parents. She got one! There were so many romantic moments. They struggle with some miscommunication, or just plain not communicating, as many couples do, but oh, does it lead to a romantic ending! *sigh*

This book is part of the Pendleton Petticoats series, but does stand-alone. If you’ve read the other books, you’ll love seeing old friends. If you haven’t, then meeting the other characters will wet your appetite for the other books. All of the characters are so intriguing, and trust me, you’ll want to know their stories.

I love Shanna Hatfield’s writing!! I get so excited every time she comes out with a new book. She has a way of pulling me in and making me feel like I’m there with the characters. I can’t wait to see who gets to have their story told next!

I received a copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.

Nik Nash Finally Gets His Own Story

I've been waiting for Nik's story (book 8) since reading Aundy, Pendleton Petticoats, book 1. Was it worth the wait? Heck Yeah!! All Shanna Hatfield books are worth any amount of wait. Shanna is completely dedicated to providing the best books possible for her devoted readers. That is what each and every one is, The Best! I believe the first book of Shanna's that I read was Aundy and I've certainly been a devoted fan since then and can't get enough of her wonderful books. A world without Shanna Hatfield and her extraordinary books would be a very sad place, indeed.

Nik has completed his education and extensive training to become a doctor and finally returned to Pendleton to stay. And the very day he arrives, he sees Dally Douglas all grown up and the most beautiful young woman he has ever lain eyes on.
Dally is staying at her family's ranch, with her brother, Hunter, until after the Pendleton Round-Up and then retuning to North Carolina, to her parents. Both Nik and Dally are very attracted to one another but fight it because they both believe they want other things out of life than each other. When Dally is hurt at the Round-Up it delays her leaving and requires that she and Nik spend a significant amount of time together during her recovery.
Feelings grow stronger every day but then a misunderstanding happens that could destroy the hearts of 2 young people in love.

Impossible romance ??? This story
takes us to Pendleton, Oregon in 1910.
Dally Douglas and her brother, Hunter are
getting to stay at the family ranch while the
remainder of the family returns home.
Both want to compete in the first Pendleton
" Round Up." Dally is somewhat of what
the reader would call a tomboy who loves
horses and ranch living. Her dream is to marry
a cowboy and have a family ranch.
Dr Nik Nash has arrived back in town to join
Dr Reed in the town's practice. Nik has a very
interesting upbringing. He was adopted and
raised on a ranch in Pendleton which he
considers home. His focus is to stay single
for the present and practice medicine.
When Dally and Nik are reacquainted, there
is undeniable chemistry between them.
Will the two be able to act on the attraction??
The story weaves, romance, historical detail,
artistically creative characters, humor and
romance with everyday live in that time period.
The reader will feel as if they are there with
the characters plus enjoy the proficient
descriptions of the area.
This is book # 8 in the Pendleton Petticoats
series. It can be read as a stand alone
I volunteered to read this Advanced Readers
Copy. This to the author for the opportunity.
My opinion is my own.

Dally is the 8th book in the Pendleton Petticoats Books but the very first one for me. It is a very sweet historical romance that will make you feel like you live is this great country town. It is still very much a stand-alone book but I would guess if you had read them all a lot of the back story continuing stories of many of the characters would give you more meaning. It is a very descriptive book with a lot of details about the characters and the families. I think personal if I had read the other books I might have gotten more involved in the book. Saying that I very much enjoyed the writing style and story. There is a lot of real life history in snippets in this books that I found interesting. I received a free copy of the book and have voluntarily written an honest review.

As an avid reader I first met Nik as an orphaned shepherd boy. Now he's back in Pendleton as the dashing young Doctor Nash. He's lots of things, but he is not the cowboy Dally is looking for. Fans of Shanna Hatfield fell in love with Dally's parents in Dacey in the American Mail Order Bride series. Dally is such a fun character. She bright and witty. She's gorgeous and high-spirited. She is not the kind of young lady to while away the hours waiting for her doctor-husband to come home!! Watching these two throw out their way of thinking and open their eyes to the possibility of true love was fun and heartwarming. The ending was spectacular! If you like adventure and humor in your romance this is a book for you. If you want chemistry and tenderness in your romance, this is the book for you. If you want cute kids and old friends in your romance then this is the book for you.

Any time I see a book by Shanna Hatfield I have to read it. Her books are fun and so entertaining. "Dally" is book 8 of the Pendleton Petticoat Series. You'll have to read them all, they are wonderful reads. Dally is a delightful character who wants nothing to do with Nik. She has specific ideals about the kind of man she wants to marry and Nik isn't the one. She is spunky, stubborn and finds herself helpless. You'll love her and Nik, as well as the returning characters from the previous books. You'll discover lessons on "never say never; that God's ways are not our ways, and the loyalty of family. I hope you read it because it is a great book.

Blessings,

Dally ( Pendleton Petticoats Book 8)

Oh my, Shanna! I do believe that Nic is my very favorite hero yet! Handsome, loveable, mischievous, and so giving of his heart. I always loved him from the very first, as a young boy of ten when he showed up at Aundy's doorstep many years ago. Add Dally, sweet, sassy and determined to live her life the way she wants and we have a sweet but fun romance to follow to a HEA, always guaranteed with a Shanna Hatfield book.
The story flows along with wonderful characters that you want to have as your best friends. All in all, I had a wonderful time revisiting favorite characters that live in Pendleton, OR. and meeting new ones. And I have to add, the best ending ever!!!! JudyE

I enjoyed this story. I always like to go visit Pendleton.
Dally is a strong-willed and independent girl. She wants to marry a cowboy and live on a ranch. Nik Nash was a new doctor and didn't want to live the ranch life. He wants to get his practice started and had no time for love.
You know what happens when you make plans for you future imagined life.

The sparks fly between these two characters instantly. I loved seeing their relationship grow and the interaction they had with the townspeople. I also liked learning about the Pendleton Round-up.

If you love sweet stories that keep you reading then give this a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Dally

Nik comes home after studying to be a doctor to help the local doctor, Dally and her brother is in town staying at their family ranch. Dally and her brother are competing in the rodeo. Dally is attracted to Nik but she loves the ranch life and he is a doctor. I fell in love with both of the characters, I look forward to hearing more about the characters in future books. This is part of a series but this is first I have read and still enjoyed it but I would love to read the other books in series. I was given an opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book, I enjoyed it very much.

This was a sweet story about a strong willed, horse loving girl who always wanted to marry a cowboy and live on the family ranch. That is until she meets Nik who is the new doctor in town. Then Dally breaks her leg which means spending more time with Nik while fighting her attraction as Nik is also fighting his feelings for her. Can this mismatched couple make a relationship work? They do say opposites attract. I received an advanced copy and this is my honest opinion.

Dally and Nik were wonderful and stole my heart. I loved Dally's sass and spunk and Nik was just perfect in every way. I can see everyone falling in love with him. This book is part of a series and can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the books in order because it is pure pleasure to be able to revisit with all the characters. Shanna Hatfield never disappoints! Book gifted to me.

Dreams Versus Reality

Dahlia has decided she's going to marry a cowboy and live on a ranch. Nic has decided his new career as a doctor doesn't allow him to get married any time soon. Of course, these two end up on a romantic collision course. This story has all the characters and life events that make this author's books so enjoyable. I especially loved the entirely happy ending.

Surprising romance

The h & H each have different ideas about when marriage will occur & what a future spouse will be like. Each gets some of what they hope for & some surprises as well. The h loves ranching & horses while the H looks more toward living in the city to be available to his patients.

There are more details about the beloved characters from the prior books along with some surprising developments that bring more fun memories.

I'm a huge fan of this series. I loved Nik's character since the very beginning and it's been so fun watching him grow up. Now to have him in his own book - it was so worth the wait! Add in the fact that we get to see Aundy and all the rest of the characters some more, and this book didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this whole series and can't wait to see who Shanna writes about next!

Series worth reading!

Absolutely love Shanna Hatfield's books. Have been reading every one! I absolutely love reading series books and she writes them extremely well! Now I'm at the point that I have to wait for the next one to come out...and the wait will be hard but extremely well worth the wait! Thank you Shanna for such well written stories!

Beautifully Written

Another great story from the author. This as well as others in the series has everything in it. From a caring hero to a feisty heroine. From action packed scenes to soft and caring scenes. Even a bit of history is thrown in and delicious recipes. A win win book that feeds the readers appetite for a good story as well as some good food.

Stubborn people! Love it.

2 people so stubborn they can't see they are made for each other. A great romance story with some twists and turns due to them not talking about what they each feel. Thank you for another great Pendleton story and updates on all the wonderful families I love.

Surprise ending!

I love it when a book gives me a run for my money! So many of these romances start to get a bit boring, as in they're too predictable and expected, but this one kept me guessing! As I've said before, you just can't go wrong with a Shanna Hatfield book! I hope this one sparks your imagination too!

Good read

Dally and Nic’s story was one we’ve all been waiting for after having been charmed by his bravery and faithfulness to his adopted mother at age 14. She and her husband recognized his bright mind and encouraged him in his dream to become a doctor who returned from his studies driving one of the first motorcycles. Quite a character who finally met his match. Enjoy 👍💜
