This book exasperated me. I would never have read it had a friend not given me the book. This friend had a lot of expectations but I didn't like this book at all. There were some major irks that really put me off reading this. And I'm stuck with 3 more books by this particular author. I do not know if I'll be wasting my time with them.

The Irks:

1. The Title- When I first got the book, the title really annoyed me. What does that even mean?

2. Indian English- Phrases like "cousin brother" and the likes make an appearance here. I understand that this book was targeted for the Indian masses, but would it be too much of a problem, if the author had taken care to actually write a little better thereby helping the readers improve their language as well? I don't really understand why very few Indian authors pay attention to the prose in their books. It's not that difficult to write better if you have a plot in your mind, is it?

3. Random Italics- Maybe it's just me, but there were some words that were unnecessarily emphasized using italics. And, I'm not even counting the Benglish/Hinglish (Bengali/Hindi words written in English) words.

4. Benglish/Hinglish words- I can handle a few. But there are too many "dadas" and "babus" in the initial parts of this book. And I'm Bengali. While it's true that the book is based in a society where the first language isn't English but even then, if your characters are already speaking in English (even the household help) then it would be better to refrain from using the Benglish/Hinglish words ever so often.

5. The MC- Yeah, Benoy is incredibly annoying and he talks like a 12 year old boy who is "misunderstood". I swear I really wanted to punch him when he would get into his self-obsessed monologues. Also, how can a 20 year old be THAT immature?! I was sighing while reading some parts.

Exhibit A:

"I have never felt at home with intelligent and confident women; they have never found me funny or smart. Why would anyone love them? They only make you feel stupid and inadequate all the time."

(A guy like this deserves to feel stupid and inadequate. Because he is.)

"...though the class was shocked at her loud outburst, it almost brought a smile to my face. I could almost see tears in her eyes. Yes! I pumped my fist. Take that, bitch. Lizard. Bitchy Lizard."

"Twice in two days, I had seen people I loved truly cry and walk all over me and away. They would come back, I told myself. I was sure that they would be sorry someday... Everything will be all right, I said to myself."

(Oh people, please don’t come back. Make him suffer!)

He sees a girl cry because a tragedy has befallen her family and all he can think of is how beautiful she is and how great it would be to spend the rest of his life just looking at her face.

(-__-)

I really do not like Benoy.

6. Horrible Grammatical Errors: I cannot believe this book had such a huge amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Oh yes, I can give proof.

"I love my sister way too much and I would never let anything to happen to her."

"I was just glad that college was reopening the next day was to start from the next day and so I hope Diya would put me into an unrelenting schedule of studies and fuck-boring classes."

Yep, this was in the book. Also, random swearing does not make one sound cool, MC.

"He just keeps me making feel bad about my sister, telling me that she's a crippled and that she won't ever walk again."

Nope. I didn't make the typos.

There were many more, but I didn't have the patience to type them all.

7. Plot: Didn't do a lot for me. Unnecessary melodrama is not my thing. Also the love story was slightly disturbing to me. Also somewhat crude.

8. The Excessive Use of the word 'Like': You know, like, every sentence had, like, multiple usages of the word 'like' in it, like, isn't that, like, super annoying?

It is.

The Delights:

1. Short Read: I would have DNF'd this sucker had it been a few pages longer.

2. Some Funny Moments: There were a few funny dialogues here and there. But too little, too late.

Overall, this book was only okay. I couldn't find many positives from it. Would definitely not have tried any other Durjoy Datta book had I not had copies sitting on my desk. So I need to continue this self-inflicted torture. Help!

Rating 2.5
was gonna give this book a 1 when i started reading it.. and then a 3.. But i think i'll settle with a 2.5 .

This is a story about the rich-brat Benoy (turns out to be the author's brother) who comes to terms with his mother’s untimely death, and a strained relationship with his father, whom he hasn’t seen much of. Oh and falls in L-O-V-E but the girl is confused on whether she shud be with him.

The book started off with choppy language,over-usage of the word "f***" and felt like statements in the 1st few pages. But it does get better (thankfully). Durjoy Datta mentions that Benoy was very distraught on his mother passing away. but i didnt really feel he expressed this very much other than in a few paragraphs when he mentions the mother, dint really get the feeling behind ths. I felt the character's other than Shaina and maybe Eshaan were not at all described well, thereby failing in not being able to connect with them. Thus being the reason i gave this a 2.5 instead of a 3.

I dont usually go for indian authors and had heard that Durjoy Datta's previous book Ohh Yes I Am Single sucked, made me apprehensive but i decided to go ahead. And it turned out to be not that bad. You might actually enjoy reading the book.
So want to read something to pass the time? a love story? go ahead.

“When reading a book, one hopes it doesn’t turn into a painful process. Predictable is bad enough. Laborious is acceptable if the labor produces fruit. But with painfully bad writing, all one can do is grab a hatchet, slice off its head, and bury it.”
-Chila Woychi

This book sucked to the core. I don't even know why I read it. It's probably because I was pressurized by every girl in the ninth grade who was buried into one of Durjoy Dutta's books. Evidently, all the romantics in my grade were prey to lousy books about love where this one guy gets a completely new outlook on life after meeting- 'the one'.
Its so pathetic, I almost don't want to review it.

Firstly, even though its none of my beeswax, why would any author in all his sanity dedicate a love-story, especially a gross intimate porno-type love story to his brother? And name the protagonist after his 15 year old sibling. That is just down-right wrong and very creepy.

Durjoy Dutta clearly does not know how to describe a Porsche. Which is why he steals the lyrics of Nelly's famous 'Hey Porsche'. The lyrics couldn't have been copied any better, I was singing the song whilst reading this good-forsaken crap. Talk about precision.

Moreover, Shaina- the girl who he falls in love with lacks to a great extent the power needed to express her thoughts. She is portrayed as a puppet who willingly lets the so-called supreme male dominate her actions. And I never got why her family had such an iron-grip on her life. They're like possessive love-sick retards when described by the protagonist, Benoy.

More than the book, I hate the author, he has a lot of people reading his books and he should use his fame and apparently magnetic plots to influence people for the greater good of society.
To actually empower women and give them independent roles in his books.

I detested this book.
I recommend it to people who don't value their time and who don't mind reading the works of an author lacking the capability to express rage in any other way than by using profanity like he just stumbled upon it; I furthermore recommend it to all the stupid girls in my grade who really think their lives will be incomplete unless they are loved by a man.

WHY? Why do these new-age simple-language-writing, chetan-bhagat-inspired Indian writers create highly fickle characters with loose stories which have no meaning or purpose? The lead MUST fall for the MOST beautiful girl. He will never fall for the character. Well, since none of the characters are well defined, it doesn't seem possible. Durjoy Dutta is off my reading list forever.

I am fond of reading novels but was not into reading Indian novelist...Chetan Bhagat could not impress me much since his writing never make me think that I'm part of it. Any media content can be made interesting if you the reader/viewer/listener feels he /she is the one featured in it.
I had low hopes from Durjoy Dutta when I read his 'Of course I love'...and I was instantly able to imagine myself as the leading lady! I was impressed but there was no hangover of the book as usually the case is with me. The characters of the book stay with me for days until I start reading the next book.
Finally Durjoy is able to give me the hangover...with his "You were my Crush".
Benoy Roy...the rich rich brat falls for a middle class girl on facebook and fantasizes about even before he sees her for real and knows he just can't do without her when he actually sees her. I loved his description about the girl.
Flashy and confused Shaina, as teenagers are, makes are real.
Diya and Eshaan...the typical front-benchers and book worms though they both were cute!
Crazy love of Deb and Avantika in picture now and then leaves to wanting more of it.
I called my mom when I read the part where Benoy describes his relationship with his mom and how he misses her :(
And surely you must read the book to understand that LOVE JUST HAPPENS...there are no reasons to it and there are no flashy lights or ringing bells to tell you about it...you just feel it.
And of course you can't afford to lose it to anyone!!
Happy reading friends.

A complete nonsense. It shows how below average people's reading taste is. You cant even call this book as a part of literature. It should be tagged in "penny dread-fulls". Girls go gaga over this author's book because the author is young and cute (yes he is cute)but that doesn't qualify him as a good writer. This book completely lacks conviction in character. No character has a strong evolution and they all struggle with the traits. The Author doesn't know how to make his characters behave, just like a hindi Drama telly.

Manoj is not the correct guy for Shaina just because he is 26... he breaks up with her as Shaina cheated on him and next day comes with his parents to her house and the wedding is fixed.....Where does this happen? Why cant Manoj act like Manoj should have acted? stick to one thing?

Shaina comes from a traditional family still goes to the hero's house after getting drenched in rain and changes into his tee( which is harldy till her thighs) and gets cozy with him and next moment is crying over kissing him, the very next moment tells Manoj she cheated on him and what not......

Good for people who have absolutely no taste of good books and want to spend their life dreaming about falling in love with a porcelain skin girl, make-outs and nothing more.

A typical Durjoy Datta novel, with a mixture of flings, crushes, girls, affairs, lust and love by the modern youth from Delhi University.
As like most of his writings, this story starts with the flings of a young adult called Benoy Roy, the only son of a rich business tycoon in Delhi. Naturally, he has beautiful girls of his college and surroundings flocking him to gain access to his lavish life in big cars. Just when his life was going on smooth, he comes across a beautiful girl (Shaina), who happens to be the sister of his classmate cum only enemy-turned friend, Diya. He falls in deep love with Shaina but will not be able to win her over like other girls as she was already in a relationship with someone else since five years and moreover she thinks that Benoy is of the playboy types. Despite his many honest trials, Benoy is rejected by Shaina not because of lack of love towards him, but due to fear of her middle class family. Finally, the story comes to a happy ending when Diya meets with a major accident and her paralytic recovery is bailed out by Benoy and his dad. Owing to this help, Shaina’s family develops a positive image on Benoy which results in her break-up with her old lover and unification with Benoy.
This book is one of the most hilarious of all from this author which I read, till now. It also makes one feel that the difference between true love and infatuation (crush) is the never understood subject of today’s youth until they face a situation which breaks them physically and mentally.
Reading Durjoy’s novels gives me a feeling of how easy it is to convince a girl for make outs nowadays, without much effort like in olden days, where we had to marry the same if anything of that sort happened. I wonder if pure love is still hanging around in the air or it is the ever eternal infatuation that shall rule the young minds forever.
My million dollar question for today’s youth is still the same….How will they handle the situation when their married partner gets to know of their sexual encounters before marriage? Probably, the main reason why the divorce rate, depression deaths and unfaithful marriages are increasing day by day even in India, thanks to the so-called Western culture.

My rating is 3 out of 5

seriously, books like these discourages me from reading indian author's books. the story line was not good. NOT GOOD AT ALL. i will not recommend this to anyone. especially who thinks durjoy datta is an awesome writer. a free advise dont waste your money on this book.
....
*****SPOILER*****
an extremely rich boy named Benoy ( i think the author dont know any simple or nice name ) was in depression due to the death of his mother through cancer. his parents were divorced and he used to live his mother. he used to hate his dad as well. after the death of the mother his dad used to bribe his son i.e benoy so that he can stay with him. his dad used to bribe the professors too in the college for helping him pass the semesters. he had only one friend named ( i dont remember the name ) once told him that the new professor was very strict and will grade the students on the basis of the presentation only. during this he met Diya who became his partner unfortunately. they both hate each other like hell. benoy called her a lizard while Diya called him a spoiled brat. but while working they gradually became best friends. through diya's facebook profile, benoy stalked her sister named Shaina.

from here the actual story begins..
Diya was exteremly possessive about his sister shaina. and benoy somehow had a huge crush on Shaina. when they met for the first time ( benoy and Shaina ) with her sister, they both liked each other. they had eye-contact and feels when you see each other for first time. then after that also they gone out for 3-4 dates without being noticed by diya. on one of the recent dates Shaina started acting a bit different, she said whatever happening between them was not good. but still, they were seeing each other. and then one of the rainy day, ( the scene author described so well ) Shaina was dripping wet and was were white and everything was like see through ( i dont know why she had to wear white on a rainy day and why cant she carry her umbrella with her. GOD! ) they were at benoy's place and they just had a kiss. and the girl started crying like anything and went home without saying a word. then the news came that she is getting married as her boyfriend Manoj told everything about them to her parents and they were so conservative, thought they'll be ashamed in the society if people get to know about the relation btw Shaina and Manoj. and then there's a long story of how benoy was miserable, how he asked for help with his dad and how the relationship with his dad was improving. then the twist came, in morning benoy saw 13 missed calls from Shaina and thought various things until a message pops-up saying to meet him at the hospital. then he came to know that Diya met with an accident and was partial paralysed waist down. benoy's father help her parents and automatically benoy became the best guy in front of shaina's parents. and then those steamy hot scene occurs, after few months when benoy asks her to meet him as it was emergency. ( The stupidity of the story was this ) after the make out scene between shaina nad benoy, shaina insisted him to come to her house and both the sisters shaina and diya ( diya was recovering ) persuaded benoy to fight for his love. they were saying things like you are a coward, you dont have balls to do anything this that. and then both sisters started laughing out of nowhere and told benoy that they were playing with him the marriage was called off weeks ago.
.............
i mean what the hell is this story. completely wasted my time, energy and my precious sleep because of this story.

A Durjoy Daata book but still something with less of lust Sex and those things for which he is known, atleast the level he uses. 'The Man with dimples.'
The story is of Deb, Shaina and Diya, no not a love triangle. Though it could had been with Diya falling for Deb and vice versa, maybe even just for doing something and then leading to complexities but thankfully nothing such happened. And they just remained enemies converted into friends and then best friends. And Diya becoming the connector to make Deb meet his love, her sister Shaina.
The story is very well quived and it flows very smoothly throughout.
Starting with Deb a rich man son driving an audi living in big house. A bro closer than friend, dead mom and hated father, living lonely life considering himself ugly finding himself sleeping in his bedroom with cute Palak. U ll think she is the lead but not.
His only help and friend Eshaan is studious and does everything for him. And there he meets Diya. A studious scholar aiming girl who. Deb and Diya hate each other and screw each other only to become best friends and like each others company.
Then comes Shaina who becomes wish of Deb's eyes. A smart girl totally opposite of Diya falls for Deb who is already fallen for her.
Then comes the real twist where Debs doubt turns real when she is in love with Someone else and this is the time When Deb finds support of Diya as a friend against her own sister and his dad and respect for him.
This is a story which Will tell you how much can love change someone. everyone who seems bad from outside is not bad. Circumstances play vital role in shaping Someone's nature and character. Friendship is above love. Reputation and love an be earned by good works even in a Flux of few days. First impression can be wrong. And its not neccessary your first love is always correct and can't be ignored for someone else better and more loving.
With cute romance, good intimacy, passionate love and pain in same this is a must read.

I usually don't go for Indian authors just because I knew it will be so filmy and dramatic ( I already get that watching Indian movies) and I was yet again proved rite.
Now about this book.. I literally was counting my pages as to when I will finish this book and keep it aside.. just a spoiler. Typical Indian love story.. Spoiled brat who is the hero ( Benoy) sees a beautiful gal ( shaina) falls for her.. now he realises wat is being in love and talks all kinds of crap repeatedly as to how beautiful she is. This is modern day love story so we have Facebook, Dating , Sleeping around , lots of boozes,Father - Son drinking together ( Oh that's so western and being friendly) and finally so many twists and turns like Diya having an accident and slowing our spoiled hero ( benoy ) moves in and makes a big impression on Diya n Shaina 's parents .. how cinematic.
One simple question why why why?? Always the girl as to be damn sexy n cute and the guy has to blabber in each and every page abt her..

Waste of time ... sorry

First of all I hate durjoy.. His book "Oh yes, I am single" sucks big time.. This book was given to me by my friend. Even though I had no interest in reading Durjoy stuff, I read it.

I was expecting not so interesting thing about this book, but as I read on, the story got very interesting.. Actually I pretty much liked it. It was not as bad as I thought it would be..

The story circles around Benoy Roy (probably, the hero of the story), who lost his mom due to cancer, who was devorced to her husband.. No family.. His best friend, hates him.. No best friend.. His love hates him more than anything.. No love.. In short, Benoy's life is totally f**ked up.. This is story of a boy who is trying to pick up the pieces of his life..

Worth a read.. Good for time pass..

Ther's not a big story within..
But the lyf of common ppl is expressed explicitly..
There was a Nerd named Diya, with his cute lill sister Shaina and a spoilt rich lazy brat Benoy.
Benoy and Diya are classmates. He rarely attends the classes. His caring friend is Eshaan..!! Destiny played a role in Benoy's lyf which made him to be wid Diya. But then, it has a gud ending that thy both have b'cum really close frends.. Then starts de game of his life, when he saw de cute princess Shaina, who is already commited to Manoj. The crush of his life..!!! Then it's all de happenings between crush and friendshi. everything was fine until Diya met with an accident. Then..... Read de book to know more abt Diya, Benoy, Shaina and Manoj:-)

I was intrigued by the stack of books in my sister's reading table. I picked up one to spend the time. I know my sister's choice in reading and was not surprised as I read through the book. The book was filled with romance, love, lust and cheesy lines. My sister loved this genre of books. I hope my sister's choice improves in the future. As for me, I had learnt my lesson - "Never borrow others books".

Not sure what has happened to the young generation of India. If this is what people are writing then what can I say. Book is filled with F* words in almost all the pages. Not sure what the authors were trying to write. I skimmed through the pages and did not even bother to read it end-to-end.

Completely pathetic and I will not read any further books by this author.

This was bad. I am to be blamed for reading this because I knew what I would be reading. This is teenage romance written by teenagers. Or maybe authors who still have brains of teenagers..

I don't want to waste words and time writing a review of this book. Just ignore this book unless you are a teenager.

Its a typical teenage lovestory or rather crush story with a half cooked title, as predictable from this author. Benoy, a rich, spoilt college going boy falls for his best friend diya's sister Shaina who was already taken with his boyfriend of 2 years. Finally after many crush laden, teenegerish feelings, sex and dialogues between the characters and diya's serious accident in the end, the love/crush- duo, benoy and Shaina get together and all's well that ends well in their world. The young teenrgers will like this hormonal stew brewed by this author in this book. 2.5 to 3 stars for this one.

Okay-okay it was!
Easy to read. Will be a fine read for beginners.
Presence of Durjoy Dutta's special sarcasm. Was not interested after reading half of the book. Same usual story!
But then it's Durjoy dutta! Naam hi kaafi hai boss🤷🏻‍♀️😂
Basically the book is all about how a Delhi boy Benoy who meets Diya in college and transform from a irresponsible, carefree, spoilt brat to a loving, caring, responsible boy. And then he gets a crush on her college's friend Diya's sister Shaina after seeing her in a picture with Diya on Facebook and faces tough time to get close to her or to know her well. Whereas Diya told him to stay away from her sister because they have that typical conservative family who doesn't allow to be in a relationship and follows the phrase 'log kya kahenge'. And he also have Eshaan, his college friend who's always there to help without even asking and without any ego. A friend like him is hard to find!
Besides that he had some family troubles and get to know his father better after her mother's death whom he loved with all his heart. Then his relationship gets better with his dad. The book also throws light upon the love between parents and children. When nobody's there, you'll still find your parents behind you happily to be there to help.
You'll also get a bit of Deb & Avantika's life for what we all love Durjoy dutta. You see how he connects stories😉 and that's the thing that gives me goosebumps like suddenly reading Deb's name somewhere in his book and getting that huge smile on my face!❤️

By Durjoy Datta and Orvana Ghai. Grade: B+
Durjoy Datta’s fifth book is a true story based on his misunderstood brother – Benoy Roy.
People say a lot of things about Benoy.
‘I love him, but I don’t want him to drive a Bentley,’ his mom says. Or used to say. She is dead now. He drives a Bentley.
‘He is a stranger to me. I haven’t seen him since he was eight. I receive his credit card bills though,’ his dad says.
‘He should stop drinking,’ his maid says.
‘…stop bribing professors,’ his best buddy, Eshaan advises him.
‘Good for nothing, brat!’ his best friend, Diya says.
‘I never want to see you again. Stop stalking me or I will let my boyfriend know,’ the love of his life says.
‘You’re the best,’ his brother, Deb claims.
Between all this, who is the real Benoy?
This story is about him picking up the pieces of his life and trying to find a meaning out of it. A big car, a big house, does it solve anything? Why is that despite having everything, he has nothing?

The story is about Benoy Roy, a close cousin of Debashish Roy, everyone’s favourite hero from the author’s famous Deb-Avantika series. (Durjoy Datta lovers: Deb and Avantika do have some guest appearances here). The book is actually about Benoy and Diya, who are best friends…until Benoy falls in love with Diya’s sister Shaina. Things follow… lives are messed…and are put to right again.
Let me take a moment here and confess that before this, I’d never read any novel by India’s sexiest author (or so Durjoy has been labelled by his ardent group of fan girls). I never had any reason not to pick him – except plain stereotypical tendencies. While this posse of Chetan Bhagat followers is making India read like never before, I myself haven’t found a good enough book.
Generally, I stay away from these light cutesy romances – a mistake I consider a mistake only now.
Benoy is your typical rich guy – lives in a big house, drives a big car and makes dad pay for a seat in DU. I was prepared to dislike him on sight. But then, the author goes deeper. Benoy is so much more than that. He is the guy who would buy a girl a new bag even when he doesn’t really like her. He is the guy who loved his mother so much that he was devastated when she died. He is the guy who somehow secretly still loves his father despite all that he has done.
He is not a perfect hero: he is rude, a little mean, and not always nice, but that makes him even more easy to like. He is an ordinary guy, just like you and me.
The characterization, as I said, was very well done. They were not just paper cut-outs, but three-dimensional characters with innocent quirks that endear them to the reader.
It was also interesting to read how the two author balanced the writers. I have read some novels where the flow is very interrupted due to co-authoring. I once read this novel which was written by two very famous writers in their own right, and there were paragraphs which I could easily point and tell which author had written what.
My only problem was the editing – a standard characteristic of all the novels by the publisher as far as I’ve read, and the unnecessary sexual references which ceased to be funny and came across as plain cheap most of the time.
A nice read. Go for it.

Some times it is very difficult to pursue the love story. Well, this pick is not that of a serious one, but still the emotions are emotions right. There was a grapevine that most people who picks this kind of stories should either have won their love or should have probably lost their sweet heart.Well, the latter one will be much sported with a long beard reading all sought of love books. And this applies for a guy. I hardly remember a girl sporting any kind of sad expressions of losing her love. That seems to be so strange rite ? Yeah I don't think boys are that stronger as girls are. They can endure the loss in a fraction of a second and can live their own life siting the reason that they are scared that their parents will disown them if they go against their wish. Does that mean that all boys are orphan and never care about what ever happens around them?? Doesn't this look so foolish ?? A girl is allowed to do what ever she want ?? Society has always sided it's stand with girls arm as they are the one who can be easily fooled in the name of love. But one should also realise that there is a flip side of it too. See here , Shaina is so dare to get her self more close with a another guy as if she has found a guy all of a sudden jumped down from the up. After getting all materialistic things happened from her rich boy friend, she was so scared of what the society will think about her and her family. She rather was scared about the society that they may call her a slut or what.. I give three rating for bringing in the original stature of some girls in the society. This reminds me one thing. There are always reasons for all bad things happening in the earth.
