Not bad

This was a pretty good story set in the near future where the world has become a somewhat dystopian society where women no longer are equal to males. Women either became wives (if they came from rich families), subs, or servants and slaves. Not a bad book, but there are definitely other Jordan Silver books I like better.

3.5/5 I liked it. Very rough. Good read, lots of steam. If you have read Jordan Silver, you know what types of stories she writes. If you are not ok with reading rough sex,punishments with spankings, whippings and choking, this is definitely not for you.

“The Handmaiden/ The Reluctant Sub” is the story of Alyssa and Brax.

I actually really really didn’t enjoy this one. Self proclaimed Dom hero, a novel set in a futuristic universe where women have no rights and he sees the heroine and basically purchases her. The rest of the book is him bending her to his will, ie even giving her body piercings and “beating her ass” ??? and just load of sexual coercion.
I know the writing by the author can be a hit or a miss but the “sex god” needs chill and stop being such an angry ah.

FFS. You can't just leave butt plugs in for hours on end, and you certainly can't keep nipples clamped for that long. It's just plain irresponsible for JS to even write that punishment scene like that. She's obviously never done her own research.

Aside from how glaringly stupid that was, this was a pretty enjoyable read.

So this book is about 2 people man and a woman Obviously but I honestly can’t remember their names just because the story was so trash first Red ‼️flags ok . So The heroine dad loves her so much that he sells her to become a mistress!!! Like honestly this is what was going on like really he said that I understand he was going really poor And his Business tanked ! but who would condemned their child they say they love so much to something as crazy as a mistress !!😑 next he branded her !!!! Branded her skin like freaking cattle right in front her dad and he did nothing he said nothing she was just ashamed of her behavior and then they walked all the way to his house ......
they get inside and he claims oh he’s going to take a few weeks to train her to become a good pets let me tell you if this is what Christian from fifty shades expected from Anna ohhhh he had another thing coming this man in his home of the future gave her a vagina piercing !!!! What the hell and the author representation of her reaction was trash kmt . And then when she tried to defend her self he would punish her the book says the punishments are not bad but it is !. He beat rfe button of her feet abs she couldn’t walk like wtf 😳. He made her suck is man wood abs if she came up for air withouf him saying stop he would punish her I couldn’t get to half the book with out my eye red and straight drown crying 😭 never again not reading this author again

This is a hard core and very disturbing version of a dom and sub story. The story sets in 2040s or sometime in the future, after a terrible war or so it says. But we never really get a background of the incident, which is really needed in my opinion because I need to know what happened that make the future change dramatically! After that terrible things in the past, women are turn into such a commodity, especially those who come from a lower class society. They either become a maid in rich people house, sold to be a sub, or get rapped in the street. And this objectification towards women reallllyyyy bothers me.

Both of MCs are lack in personality. We get to see from each of their perspectives, but nothing in their mind really meant something to me. I didnt feel any empathy nor attachment to their characters. They just fell flat for me.

And there’s this scene in the beginning of the MCs relationship that making me mad. By that scene only, I’ve already made my decision with 1 star.

What he gets is a hellion in need of some serious training. First of all, this book has some amazing love/sex scenes - they are seriously hot! And the dynamic between Brax and Alyssa is an intriguing mix of hatred, love, humor, joy, pain, etc... As their relationship runs the gamet of emotions, an external threat helps bring it all to a head! Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

I'm petty 🤣

Ok so I liked the book. It's Jordan Silver so you know your getting. ott, possessive, bordering on overbearing mmc and a fiesty mfc. And Brax and Alisa did not disappoint. All the smutty goodness you came for with a healthy dose of the dom-sub life. My issue is that the problem in this story was dealt with off camera and I'm petty enough that I wanted Brax to burn down the house around him on screen. I needed closure!! So I took a star for the loss of that joy. Yea I know it's petty!

Loved it..

Loved this book BUT I did not like the ending of the epilogue. Thus I took off 1 star. Usually I wouldn't do that. I'd just give it 5 stars but in this case I couldn't because it changed the feeling of the book for me. I refuse to give spoilers, so I'm probably not making much sense.
I love JS. My favorite book of hers is The Gambler. I'm not going to lie and say that I like all her books. None have been bad, it's more like they just weren't my cup of tea. Anyway, if you like hot alpha males who take what they want and super hot $ex then you will not be disappointed.

This one was more of a miss for me and was just an okay read. Though I didn't highly enjoy others may. I think what I struggled with was the relationship didn't seem consensual for the most part and was violent a lot of the time. Normally in a dom/sub book you can visual the love and respect the characters have for each other. I never got that feel in this one.

I'm not really a big fan of futuristic books but I did like this one. It's 2030 and the rich are in charge and if you're poor you don't have many choices. Women are second class citizens and they are either made to be wives if they're from money or if they are poor they end up being a rich man's slave. Alyssa's father used to be rich man but 15 years ago his business went belly up and now he's forced to sell his only daughter. Brax Stanford saw Alyssa bathing in a lake and has been intrigued by her ever since. When he hears her father is looking to sell her he immediately makes an offer because he wants Alyssa as his submissive. Alyssa is not happy about being anyone's slave and she's not going to go quietly.
