Who said having a sex addition was a bad thing? Sex addict? Aren't all guys? But my situation is what you could call 'unique'. I'm seeing my daughters best friend to work on my 'problem' but all I want to do is work on her - Hard and all night long! Sexy. Sassy. Gorgeous. Katie is sex on heels and has become my latest addiction. I attend all her sessions. And then... I undress her with my eyes. If only she could let me use my hands....and mouth...and..... Then there's the reality that she's half my age and my daughter's best friend. I know it is wrong. But that only makes me want her more. I just need to take the first step and help her break those rules. Because rules are for good girls.
Do. Not. Judge. Me. I am downright giddy about this trend of step-daddy type porn – I mean romance novels. ;) Now this is a trope I can get down with. That being said, it’s also probably going to drive me nuts because with this trend I am going to have to dig through a hundred shitty books to find one that I will enjoy.
First thing. Take out the fucking asterisk. SEX and SEXY aren’t dirty words and if you’re going to tackle the trope, I expect shit to get down-right filthy.
Second. Just because the guy is older does not make for a daddy. Unless the chicks rocking the daddy-do-me fetish or she’s the step daughter, ready to seduce her daddy out of his boxers after Sunday breakfast, it’s just an age gap romance or a best friend’s dad romance.
You can probably tell I was disappointed by this story. I should have saw the censored words and the use of exclamation points (hard limit when it comes from a dude’s POV) and walked away. But I gave it a shot. I get that a lot of authors – new and some with new names are fully embracing this idea of pushing out as many KU books as they can – but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to put in the effort on the book. That doesn’t mean that you don’t pay for an editor that is going to catch the basic issues. I don’t care if you give me twenty free books (to get more money for page reads) if the first story can still be considered a rough draft.
Story was good, soo many grammatical errors in the first half though!!! Cringessss. Character personalities were well developed, I wish I could have seen more of what made Katherine and Halle best friends. But Grant Daddy at half a century you are one HOT fellow ;)
I liked this book a lot, it's an older man/younger woman/best friends dad taboo romance with a HEA. The story line is good, I thought Grant and Katie are great characters, it's a nice change that Grant is a little older than in most books. The editing isn't great however there are quite a few errors, words missed out etc, but on the bright side there are loads of free stories included which is very kind of the author to include them. I highly recommend this hot and sexy book.
Phew. Those are some hot doctor/patient privileges!
Older man, younger woman romance, but with an interesting and different type of storyline. This is my favourite Amy Brent book so far!
When Katie buys a house from her best friend and realtor, she doesn’t know that her next door neighbour is going to be her bestie’s hot and single father. She bought the place because it had enough space to both live in and house her marriage/family counseling practice. Recently she’d also added sex addicts to her docket of clients and imagine her surprise when her bestie refers her dad Grant to Katie to talk about the very active and adventurous sex life he’s enjoyed since his wife passed away.
Grant sees his daughter’s best friend for the first time in many years and is shocked at how gorgeous and mature she is now. He normally draws the line and stays away from women that much younger than him, particularly if they’re friends of his daughter’s, but he’s finding Katie very, very tough to resist.
One on one in their therapy sessions, they banter back and forth with openness, honesty, innuendo and barely concealed sexual tension. Grant hasn’t been in a monogamous relationship since his wife died and Katie is not interested in being one of the many women at his beck and call. She is wildly attracted to him, but can Katie trust her heart and body to a man with needs like his? Can Grant fulfill all of his wants and needs with just one special woman? Is he ready to open his heart up to another woman?
Very sexy, steamy and sweet standalone romance between an older man and his daughter’s best friend. As always, Amy Brent knows how to bring the heat to all of her sexy scenes and the electricity between Grant and Katie was unreal!
Amy does it again in this hotness of a read. She brings together so much hotness and drama in each of her writings at times I can barely take a breath when reading her work. This author never misses a beat.
April has been a bad storm month sorry for the late review.
I really liked this book. I liked that she was worried about her friemds feelings if she got involved with her father. The attraction between them is like fire, loved it!!!
So....the premise was good. She's his daughter's best friend, a marriage counselor and sex therapist, just moved in next door. She just finished her internship but left her previous firm due to interoffice problems and is opening her own out of her home. His wife died a few years ago and his daughter thinks he's turning to sex as an outlet - talks him into seeing her friend. Sparks fly between the H and h. I can see that maybe it happens in real life, but, she's his therapist! At that point, she should have referred him to another therapist. I couldn't quite get past that. It was only ok for me based on that
I'm not usually someone who enjoys a younger woman/older man story, but Amy Brent really did this right! Not only was the heat between Grant and Katie swoon-worthy, the emotions were real. I was a little weirded out that Katie called Grant "Daddy" sometimes. But, I like to think of it more like Marilyn Monroe calling her fiancé Daddy in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and less like a woman with daddy issues. I think a little grammar/spelling review is in order but I gave it 4 stars!
I really enjoyed this story, seems like I have been writing that a lot, but there have been some very good books lately. Which is only good for us readers ... :)
The story of Katie Collins and Grants Roberts was one that could have been awkward, but Amy Brent wrote it with a dual POV and that made it work. Grant became a billionaire developing and buying / selling real estate. He was a loyal husband and family man until his wife died of cancer, then after a time, dealt with that loss through sexual release with various controlled partners. Katherine "Katie" Collins is a family, marital and sexual therapist that decides to purchase a home that would accommodate her practice after seeing a nasty dust up at the clinic where she was practicing. She does this with the help of her best friend, Halle, who is Grant's daughter. Halle knows of the perfect home and it is next door to her dad, so that the two people she loves most in the world are in the same area.
Halle hears rumors about some of the sexual encounters or parties her dad could be into and is concerned so she makes him promise to get help with Katie. It shouldn't be a problem, as Katie knows him and vice versa from family vacations that she attended when his wife was still alive and the girls where in college .... little does Halle realize or chooses to not see is that Katie is not a little girl anymore and her dad is now single.
I won't go through any of the spoilers or twists, but I did thoroughly enjoy the book. I will admit to reading this at the beginning to almost see what the author would come up with. She didn't disappoint although I did expect more graphic language given the subject matter and erotic scenes being described.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book
Perhaps I did not read the blurb about the book before I read the free edition, but I did not realize that it was an older man/young woman romance. I don't like this genre as I believe they will not end HEA. If she doesn't end up a young widow, he will have ED and she will have to resort to hand held devises or a younger lover and end up his nursemaid.
In this story, Grant Roberts is a 50-ish billionaire widower, who made his fortune in real-estate. He has one daughter, Halle. His wife died 2 years ago from cancer. He was celibate for a while and then coped by joining a sex group and has become a sex addict. Halle's best friend from college is Katie, now a therapist, to whom Halle sold the house next door to her father's. Halle starts to hear rumors about her father and asks Katie to see him as a client, not knowing that Katie has already seen with her owns eyes, what happens in the house next door. Reluctantly, Katie agrees, but Grant has more than therapy in mind.
There were several problems with this book. First of all the editing is awful. Secondly, I'm no billionaire, but I'm pretty sure that whatever house I purchased, especially one for my dying wife, it would not be so close to the house next door, that the neighbors could watch what is going on. Thirdly, Katie could most likely lose her license for having sex with a client.
Katie's friend helped her find a new home that she could also work out of. What she never counted on was the sexy show she saw out her window her first night there. The even bigger shocker is to find out the man was her friend's father Grant. After he wife died Grant wanted nothing to do with a relationship so he joined this group of people and they swapped partners for sex. His daughter started hearing rumors about what her father was up to and asked her friend Katie to be his therapist. The sexual tension between Katie and Grant filled the air when he came for his first visit. Once he realized he could talk to her freely he let her know exactly how he lived his life. Katie knew she couldn't continue to be his therapist with how she felt about him. After going to one of his parties it wasn't long before Grant confessed he lost interest in other women and only wanted her. How will his daughter feel about their relationship? Can they discover who is leaking info about the group to his daughter?
This was an amazing story about a forbidden relationship. This was well written and will keep you entertained from beginning to end.
I absolutely love this story. Sometimes they say age is just a number and in this case it's just that a number. Love is love, it had no expectations just respect, honesty and communication. This is exactly what Grant and Katerina have together. After seeing Grant in a compromise position and later finding out that it was his daughter's best friend feelings develop between the two. At first they tried to hide their feelings, but that soon went out the window. Once they gave into each other it was kiss-mate. Until Halle found out. She is the the key to their happiness god bless her for seeing the truth and being an adult about her best friend and dad falling for each other.
As far as May-December romances go, I've read worse as well as better. The who affair with a client isn't any more palatable when the therapist is female than male. The idea that a woman who'd had a year's internship followed by less than a year of licensed professional practice could afford a house and home office in the sort of neighborhood where billionaires live is ludicrous, even if she weren't paying off student loans. Those details make suspending disbelief difficult. That said, the book is typical for the sub-genre. Average.
I gave this book three stars because of the grammatical errors. Wrong use of words, like your and you're and completely missing words. I expect more from an author. Who proofread this? Or was it even proofread before it was published? It totally distracts the reader from really immersing themselves in the book. It totally throws you when you have to stop and reread and reread something because of errors or missing words. It was a decent book and would have given it a higher rating.
I have to say this wasn't one of the best by Amy Brent. Don't get me wrong the storyline is good but I have to agree with a few people that the daughter was way younger acting. Grant was way more immature acting compared to his age. There could have been more chemistry between the couple. Katie was a fabulous character and I loved her interaction in the book. It is worth reading but would have like to see just a little bit more in it. I voluntarily review an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Hmm. What better way to deal with your first wife's death than to become a sex addict? Especially getting off on the fact that he really enjoys being an exhibitionist. Wow. He gets caught banging a woman by the neighbor who happens to be a young therapist. Who happens to be his daughter's friend. Who really enjoyed being a voyeur. Who is very intelligent and attractive. Who actually sees more than he is willing to let others see. I really loved her. She us strong and wise beyond her years.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book. And I loved it. Kathrine (Kate) is a therapyst, best friend to Halle who is the dochter of Grant. When Katie buy the house, next to Halles' father without knowing he is living there, she witness a sex scene on the verabda of her neightbor. When Halle comes to visit Kate, Halle ask to help her Dad for therapy sessions & invites Kate to monday's dinner with her and her dad & also coffessed that he lives next door.
The story opens straight into a sex scene and that is probably a good indicator of what is important to this story. Two sex scenes so far, but everything else is based around thoughts of sex so there is no real narrative. Being the first in a serialised story is also a mark against it. Lastly it has been churned out with no editor and is therefore full of missing words. I certainly found no incentive to purchase the next two books.
This is a fantastic May-December romance. Grant is a very different type of book boyfriend, but if you like older men, he is perfect and deliciously deviant. Katie is smart, mature and very well put together. Just the right match for this dirty daddy. It’s a fun and sexy read.
“I Voluntarily Received and Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book”
Young woman falls for her only friend’s widower father while also acting as his therapist. This story is very hot as this author’s works are, but there is also a lot of emotion. His daughter gets annoying at times, but it really shows the difference in maturity levels between the two young women. Really enjoyed this one.
I enjoyed reading Next Door Daddy and akk the other stories within the book ,but there were a lot of typing mistakes and sometimes parts of the book repeated itself other than that all the books were great.
