About the author

Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!

Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. A former manager of computer programming and project management professionals, Elle is happy she now has the opportunity to pursue her writing full time.

Love & War just about had me rolling on the floor laughing. I was definitely laughing out loud – so much so that my husband wondered what I was reading and had me read sections to him. It's the 4th book in the Texas Billionaires Club but it easily stands alone. I highly recommend the other books, however, as they are also great stories.

I enjoy all of the books that I've read by these two sister authors – both what they write together and individually – but I don't seem to get around to reading a lot of romantic comedy these days. I'm so glad that I was asked to do a beta read of this book for them; it was a refreshing change from what I've been reading lately.

Gage and Sophie don't meet under the best of circumstances and she certainly didn't make a good impression on him. He thinks she's clumsy and not really any good in the Army National Guard. Sophie hates how judgmental her new boss is and doesn't want to have anything to do with him. When she realizes he's the man that she made passionate love to all night recently she can't believe it and vows to stay clear of him.

Add in a crazy cat named Cujo, a dog named Rambo and her sneaky, prankster brother, Bryce, and you have the recipe for a deliciously funny and romantic story.

If you like romantic comedy I can't recommend this one highly enough.

This is such an enjoyable story, I couldn't put it down. The characters are smart, funny, and entertaining. This book can be read as a stand-alone. I look forward to reading more from these talented authors.

Elle James - Love & War - (Texas Billionaires Club - Book 4)

The series is about four (4) College buddies, (Tanner Peschke, Jesse Jordan, Rip O’Rourke and Gage Jenkins) who made a commitment to each other that they would become billionaires by the time they were thirty (30). If you haven’t read the other books in this series, give yourself a treat and read them today.

First you need to know that this is one of the best romantic comedy books I have read in a long time. You will find yourself LOL until your sides hurt. It is also one hot white passion that will have you fanning yourself. Don’t’ miss this one.

Sophie Keaton was a Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and when she wasn’t with her unit, she was at her art gallery. Sophie knew she was a workaholic so she decided to start dating again. But, she ended up in the emergency room because her “date” was allergic to Sophie’s cat Cujo.

Gage wasn’t sure that he believed in women in the Army and after Sophie’s disastrous performance his first week-end as Captain, he believed that he was right. He thought of her as homely with her Government issued ugly black glasses, clothes too big for her and she was clumsy like none other.

As an example: The rain was coming down in buckets and the unit was scheduled to an afternoon road march. Sophie felt like a drowned rat and when the mud sucked her boots into the mud and pulling her down with each step, she stepped down from a ravine and landed in a muddy hole. With the weight of her rucksack she went backwards and landed in deep mud. Trying to get out, her foot slipped out from under her and she slid down the hillside and toward her unit at the bottom of the ravine AND took out the Captain. She swept his legs out from under him, he landed with a whoosh on top of her and they plowed into the group of soldiers causing a domino effect. LOL


Sophie was with her brother Tanner at a local bar drowning her sorrows from her night in the emergency room with her “date” and after too many drinks she noticed a handsome guy walk through the doors. Sophie never had one -night stands, but she decided to throw caution to the wind. When she woke up the next morning, she realized that the man beside her was none other than Gage Jenkins. She left the hotel so fast and hoped that Gage didn’t recognize her. She intended to forget this ever happened. Fate wasn’t going to let her off so easily because Gage rented the house next door while his home was being built. Gage didn’t recognize Sophie from the one-night stand “or” the fact she was “the” LT of his unit. But Gage finds himself attracted to his new neighbor but Sophie worked late or hide out from him. What is he going to do?

Find out if they get their HEA or will Gage walk away when he finds out she has been lying to him?

This story is so filled with wonderfully fraught aggravation that you giggle, then literally laugh out loud at the antics of every character including the four legged ones! Romance at its best, with push and pull attitude, snarky comments and undeniable chemistry! I loved it...I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book!

it was amazing


Once more we travel the Five Bridges to a world Ms. Roane has created with unimaginable depths. Each story is so compelling and the story of Braden and Maeve no less intriguing. I am astounded by the characters, their intensity and totally uniqueness and how invested I become in each character and storyline. Reading Ms. Roane's riveting descriptions is so palpable that I feel I could walk around a corner and the horror of Five Bridges would be but a bridge away! Braden and Maeve are people of such rich dimensions that they both deserve the love they have discovered amongst the ruins of loves they had to bury. This series is so full of emotional and spiritual values and personal principles that I fill rewarded that I have the opportunity to recommend this series!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book!

Love & War is the 4th book in the Texas Billionaire Club while part of a series it is a standalone. What a great laugh out loud funny, sparring pets (cat and dog), comedy of misinformation and romance to boot… book by these two sister authors, Elle James and Delilah Devlin.

Sophie Keaton is a petite, strong willed, beautiful woman who works in an art gallery by day but is also a lieutenant in the National Guard and is in charge of a platoon. While out on maneuvers with the guard her new platoon commander shows up (during a rainstorm) she asks to have a truck come get them but her new commander decides to make them do night maneuvers which ends in disaster…she wears her glasses, is klutzy and looks rather homely…that is according to her new commander Captain Gabe Jenkins.

Gabe Jenkins a self-made billionaire in construction and a lieutenant in the National Guard. He moves into a rental home next door to this beautiful, petite, sexy woman named Sophie who he is attracted to except he doesn’t know she’s also his LT Catherine Keaton, a homely, klutzy, small woman with big black glasses as he describes her. Little does he know that he has met Sophie before…his one night stand that he keeps searching for!

With help from Sophie’s half-brother, Bryce who lives with her and Gabe thinks they are a couple, the guys in their platoon trying their hand at match making, misleading information from Bryce and sparring pets to help along the way can these two find their way to a HEA???

Sophie Keaton is a woman of contrasts. An Army brat, Sophie's day job is working in an art gallery, but she is also a lieutenant in the National Guard. She lives in her quaint little house with her cat and, more recently, her younger half brother Bryce. She's found herself "settling" when it comes to the men in her life, until Bryce convinces her to try something different. Captain Gabe Jenkins is a self made billionaire, construction is his business, but the National Guard is his passion. When he assumes his new command the last thing on his mind is dealing with the awkward & accident prone LT Keaton. But deal he must. As he also deals with trying to find his one night stand lady, who he thinks might have been "the one." Surviving his new neighbor Bryce's practical jokes, Sophie's homicidal cat Cujo and his own dog's (Rambo) shortcomings are only part of his trials & tribulations. This comedy of errors, assumptions and misleading occurrences is a jam packed story. It also brings you into the culture of the National Guard. The teamwork, the pranks, the seriousness of their mission and humor that keeps them sane. The fact that nature can cause as much terror and pain as any man-made obstacle. All of this comes together in a hilarious, romantic, intrepid tale of bravery and love.

Love and War- loved this book, in fact I've loved all the Texas Billionaire Club books. This one follows Gage, a captain in the army national guard and Sophie, a lieutenant. Sophie, is determined no man is going to push her around outside of the Guard after watching her step dad boss her mum around as a child. So when Gage (or rather Captain Jenkins joins her unit) and looks down and talk to Sophie with disdain she immediately hates him. The 2 meet up by fluke outside of work and their uniforms and don't recognise each other, that is until Sophie wakes up in the morning, now sober recognises who she slept with and sneaks away. Gage is left wondering about the gorgeous woman who walked out on him and has no way to contact her. That is until he unexpectedly rents the house next door to her. Gage still doesn't recognise her as Lieutenant Keaton (who wears terrible glasses and has her hair in a severe bun) as his gorgeous neighbour. Through lots of misunderstandings (which Sophie happily let's happen) the 2 keep clashing until Gage works out who she is and then he is properly cross with her. Funny to read and 2 really likeable characters.

Love and War is the 4th book in the Texas Billionaires Club series. It could be read as a standalone, but is enhanced when read in order.

Gage is the last one of the Texas Billionaires Club to be single. So the pressure is on. Trying to convince the guys to give him some slack since he is moving and taking over a new Command, he gets the guys to back off as long as he promises to at least make an effort to ask a woman out.

Sophie loves the demands of the Army National Guard; it helps her keep in shape and gives her a sense of belonging. That is until the New Company Commander arrives, then she only seems to have two left feet. After a bad weekend and even worse date, her brother convinces her they need to go out and find a Mr. Right. Which works until she discovers he is her new Commander. After she sneaks out, she decides she will avoid him since he never got her name and he might not discover who she is.

There is one problem with her plan: the chemistry between them is visible to everyone around Sofia and Gage.

Will she be able to stay the hot mystery girl by day and plain Lieutenant on her army weekends? Will Gage discover the truth? And If so, what will he think?

One can never go wrong with a book written by Ms James. This one is no exception.
The book is part of the series titled Texas Billionaire Club. A club formed by four young men while they were in college. Now men, three of them are now in relationships and Gage, our main character, is being reminded by his friends, that he needs to find someone special. . Gage is also, the new Commander of the National Guard and is determined to do a god job.
The other main character is Sophie Keaton . Sophie is in the National Guard reserves and Gage is the new Commander. But she doesn’t know who he really is or that he will be her Commander until AFTER they spent the night together and she was sure he was the perfect man.
Throughout the story you will laugh and also sympathize. Will they be able to find their HEA?

Captain Gabe Jenkins is a self made billionaire, and owns his own Construction business. The National Guard is his passion. He is to be the new Commanding Officer in Sophia's unit. Problem is...Sophia and Gabe had a one night stand without knowing who the other was....until morning when Sophia finds out who he is and disappears before Gabe finds out who she is. This comedy of errors, assumptions and misleading occurrences is so funny, it had me laughing out loud. Looks like Gabe has meet his one and only. Loved this book along with the first 3 of the Texas Billionaire Club.

This is the fourth book in this series and features Gage who is the last unattached Billionaire. Following a pact the four men made in college Gage is encouraged to find himself a bride although he is quite satisfied with his bachelor status.

Along comes Sophie who is a Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and where Gage is the new Company Commander. Following one amusing incident after another the story unfolds as both Gage and Sophie fight their attraction to each other.

This is a very funny, light hearted, feel good and enjoyable story which is extremely well written and one I would recommend.

This one had me chuckling, if I was tramping through mud I'd be a klutz too.
Gage and Sophie had a one night stand, no names exchanged. Gage ends up being her Commander in the National Guard Reserves and then to make matters worse becomes her neighbour.
Can she keep up her disguise, or will she be found out?
Let's talk about her cat Cujo...bahahaha, ok you can read and find out for yourself.
This well written story had me glued to my kindle, it was funny more than romantic. I loved it and highly recommend it.

After a rather difficult week, I picked up Love & War. The book immediately grabbed my attention, and there was one funny moment after another.

Sophie was funny, Bruce was funny, and Gage was the best confused man for their comedy.

Gage was kind of clueless and confused at the beginning, which made him more endearing. Gage and Sophie were fun, funny, and sexy together. I really liked Bryce, and hope he gets his own book.

My mood was considerably lighter after finishing this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.

From the very first word I was hooked. This is part of the Texas Billionaires Club Series. This a funny, romantic love story full of misunderstandings, unknown identities and a match making meddling younger brother!

A nice easy read I would recommend, but I am a huge Elle James and Delilah Devlin fan.

I would highly recommend it.

This sexy and touching story will entertain you very easily and leave you wanting more. Great book, great series and great author. This book is sure to brighten your day/mood. I really enjoyed this book! It is a great summer read. I laughed out loud in quite a few places as Sophie and Gage’s love story evolved. The BCGs, wimpy dog, crazy cat, Bryce’s help(?) all kept me entertained. This is the 1st book in the Texas Billionaire Club series that I have read, but I plan on going back and reading them all! Enjoy! (I received an advance reading copy for an honest review- which this is.)

Anyone that has had a sibling pull a prank on them will enjoy this entertaining book. However bumpy the ride along with the prank, the relationship between Sophie and Gage somehow is destined to survive and grow. Payback is fun too. The Texas Billionaires Club has been a enjoyable series to read.
