I got to read this early for typo-checking and I honestly can’t believe how I kept myself from screaming about this book for so long until now! I mean, I loved this book so much that I find it hard to just stay coherent while talking about it, but I will try my best, don’t worry!
This second installment for the demon spring series was intense, action-packed and just as good—or even better—than the first book! I really enjoyed everything that happened through this book—especially how things centered around Jack and Colibri and how their relashionship as partner’s in crime developed through the story. And I have to say that I also loved those little big old secrets we get to uncover through the book about the division and Lady Anat, and the plot-twists they bring to the story. Oh, and I also loved the ending—which was unexpected and brutal! And last but not least, I really loved Cam’s point of view through the story—which I had been dying for!
Since Anya and Jack are looking for answers and information about the curse that’s making her repent for all the lives she ruined, we get to visit quite a handful of different settings as she seeks out help from all kinds of people, demon places, and old friends. These places go from the familiarity of Atlanta, where Bael’s schism is still open, to Belgium, Munich, Geneva and other interesting places where we were able to find, meet and even fight powerful demons, and also meet new and powerful people—and some of their secrets. What made me love these settings a lot was how the events that developed in them helps you see and know more of the Lady of the Mountain aka Anya.
As Jack and Anya make their way through and out of the US and into Europe, with Cam hot on their trail, we get to meet again with old characters that made the story more familiar like Jack’s family, Navarro and Kim—who spent their days stalking Cam about Jack, and also some well known and powerful demons that we got to meet through book one. We also get to meet some new characters who play important roles in Anya’s life and development like Wani, Ekur and Oce—whom I loved very much. In the end, I believe that they all did a great job playing their parts and bringing new twists into the story with their sudden appearances and unexpected actions; they also felt very real and well-rounded and were their own kind of enjoyable and in some cases, detestable.
In the end, Revival was a great and exhilarating sequel to Resurgence. I really enjoyed how we got to know more of the Lady of the Mountain and how we see her and Jack change throughout the story as they uncover and finally accept the truth of the secrets they had been avoiding or ignoring all this time. Another thing I really enjoyed was to see their relationship grow into something more than just complaining, saving and helping each other. This book was full of adventure and action, and after that ending, I can’t wait for you all to suffer with it while waiting for that brilliant third last installment of this wonderful series!
