This is the second book in the Talon Security series and I think this is my favourite book by Megan O’Brien. Really loved this book beginning middle and the end.

Emerly Greer is a quiet character working hard to make ends meet, most evening are spent a yoga instructor and days she is a nursery teacher, that is where she first spotted Travis McAlister the uncle to one of her students Hudson and her friends brother. Usually happiest when she is sat at home reading or spending time with her best friend who just happens to be an eighty year old she lets Sam and Danika convince her to go on a night out but when Travis and Cade pick up the tipsy women and he walks her to her door and the air sizzles between them. Emerly was already falling for Travis before he expressed an interest in her but when they spend time together she forced herself to let him in only for him to deny her not once but twice. But Emerly’s life is in danger after being attacked by her friends son can she really trust Travis with her heart body and soul or is she setting herself up for yet more heartbreak?

Travis McAllister is running his own successful security company, his life for the past few years has revolved around making his business but on the night he helps Cade pick up three tipsy women something changes when he sees Emerly for the first time and from that moment on he knows he will do what it takes to keep her in his life, spending time with her and the animals she rescues he finds himself with feelings that are shocking and unfamiliar especially for an emotionally closed off man like him but Emerly with her quirks and big heart are demolishing all his defences and before he knows it she is the only thing that matters but with her in danger he will do anything and everything it takes to keep her safe. Bur when he lies to Emerly and she discovers the truth will he be able to win her back or has he lost his HEA before it began?

Loved both of the main characters in this story and I loved how Emerly fought back and didn’t let Travis walk all over her and she had a survival instinct. Simply fab read.

Emerly Greer is a homebody, she keeps to herself and is a bit awkward around others. Although she meets a ton of people she always declines offers to go out until she finally gets roped into going for drinks with a couple girls from her yoga class. Emerly has met Travis McAllister a few times when he has picked up his nephew but when he drives her home after she gets a bit tipsy, something changes. Travis expresses his interest and plans to pursue Emerly, he knows that she is the one but Emerly is nervous about how fast they are moving and when she is attacked during a burglary Travis picks up his game.

A big fan of this series. I liked this couple, Emerly is quirky and I loved her character. Travis is an alpha male who has to sometimes navigate when Emerly misunderstands signals he has sent. I can't wait for the next book. Great author, if you have not picked up her books it is well worth doing so every one is reread worthy.

Claim is the second book in the Talon Security series by Megan O'Brien.

Travis McAllister was gorgeous, former military, head of his own security firm, protective and intense. Emerly Greer was a beautiful, quirky, yoga teaching preschool teacher. Travis and Emerly met through Travis' sister Sam (Crave, book one).

Claim was told in the singular POV, Emerly. It was a sweet and easy read with little to no angst. It was suspenseful with a little action, but was fairly predictable, although still entertaining.

Claim was well written and well developed, but had a few editing errors, primarily missing words. Not enough to be distracting, but enough to take notice.

True to form with the series, O'Brien utilized a strong cast of supporting characters from both past and future books. Emerly's brother, Ryan, was also introduced and was another great addition for the series.

All in all, it was enjoyable and a quick read. Next up is Theo. He's the humorous and flirty one so I can't wait to see where O'Brien leads us.

3.0 RATING- This book follows a similar formula as the first in the series: a sexy, capable ex military hero, a damsel in distress, and a liberal sprinkling of cheese... It's an easy read from an author I've enjoyed in the past. I don't like this series as much as her MC series but enjoy enough to stick with it.

Emerly Greer is a preschool teacher and a yoga instructor. She is a quirky homebody who spends more time with her romance books than going out or meeting people. She has a crush on the uncle of one of her students but thinks he is out of her league. Things change when he lets his own interest be known but when she becomes a target after a botched home invasion they must both learn to let each other in before it's too late.

I really thought this would be a good read but unfortunately for me it just fell flat. I love a good romantic suspense but this story was just so hollow. I love a good insta love story but for me I didn't buy it and for me to say too fast is crazy. This book reminds me why I love either dual pov or third person pov. This book needed more and so much felt left out. I didn't get to know the heroine or the hero really. The drama involved had good bones but didn't feel fleshed out. Because we never got the heroes pov to me it hurt the suspense part of the story and you didn't get much about who he was. It felt like I should know more about him from previous books so this wasn't a true standalone type of story. He was rich and famous but not delved into really. They both had a rough childhood but again skimmed over. She kept trying to dump him at every little thing that she was hurt or upset about and he keep a lot to himself which kept a lot from the reader until he said something again his pov would have helped. I didn't buy her love since she kept running and I didn't buy his really due to not really knowing about him or why he really felt as he did. So this I would be a 1 and a half star for some moments so I will round to a two but I just felt let down with the overall story.

DNF @ 73%

The h was a total flake; she becomes so hurt by the smallest things and ends up running away. She has an elderly friend that is all in her business and very concerned about why she is not dating. Why does it matter if someone is dating or not? Maybe they are happy with their current status. Also, the h would babble in front of the H, making comments about how hot he was and then becoming really embarrassed bc she couldn't believe she blurted it out. Clearly, I wasn't crazy about the h but my biggest criticism was that the sex scenes are all fade to black. That is unacceptable to me!

3.5 rounded up.

ok i’m getting the gist that this series is pretty much just relationship fluff with minor suspense/crime subplots to give it some form of drama. the suspense itself is so convenient, clearly a plot device for the non existent one, and as predictable as it was in the last book. it lacked any real angst, something that the previous book had to a degree, as everything seemed to be solved so easily and the scenes in question were really random. the crime is also something utilised for the men to be super alpha, dominant, and protective over their partners. it’s pretty forgettable, just because of its lack of action, although it is pitched as a suspenseful romance.

that being said, i loved this book.

😔. i don’t even want to talk about it. the vibes, energy, was truthfully infectious. all of these characters sparkle in individual ways, whether it’s their bashful grumpiness, sarcasm, overall wit and humour, everyone apart of the talon security centre and the extending grapevine add undeniable charm to this series. i’m purely reading at this point for the characters and my desires to see them happy. at its core, this is a group of friends who have formed bonds and trust with one another that their relationships are that of picturesque family - which is especially heartwarming considering ho most of these characters have tumultuous relationships with their own parents, and finding such comfort within others is just everything.

and even with a lack of action, this book was entertaining. i mean i finished it, which speaks enough i think. but this is really relationship driven, making it comprehensible and easy to digest, something you cannot hate. the writing style mirrors the simplicity with the plot and characters (nothing too overbearing about them) which creates a nice balance that isn’t trying to accomplish too much, but isn’t something that is overwhelming or pretentious.

emery was sweet. yet again, i didn’t absolutely love her. i’m as neutral with her as i am with sam, who unfortunately didn’t grow on me much more in this book, but was still a nice presence. her career goals are beautifully aligned with her personality, working with children to fulfill a constant need to support others, and hosting yoga classes to bring comfort to others as well as herself. to the dismay of travis, emery didn’t step down from these ambitions of hers despite his inadvertent wishes, because something she was ultimately very passionate about. yes feminism!! i don’t mind someone who is more than eager to support the heroine, especially when they’ve been in the cycle of constantly carrying the burden on their own, but i don’t usually like how this extents to women taking a step back from their careers. emery didn’t, which i’m so happy about. she didn’t really stick out to me much, though, but i think she is a lovely girl.

TRAVIS😍🤭ok maybe i’m partially reading this series for the men and, once again, i don’t want to talk about it. at least i’m self aware. he’s another epitome of sza’s new song, which well just not get out my head no matter how many times to try to drown it out with other music. regardless, i loved this surface level man!! i love grumpy, protective men so fucking much. they make me squeal, giggle, kick my legs in the air; it’s always a fun time with them. he was evidently vulnerable as it was even clear from book one that he was much of a communicator, very reversed. but how stunning it was to see this instantaneous connection he develops with emery, and how she’s able to bring light and noise to his bleak, quiet life. an absolute sweet talker, that one. my annotations on literally every line he said or movement he made is so indicative of how low my standard are, but also how swoon worthy he is. like sid, he doesn’t really offer more than a gorgeous smile and a hot bod, but i think there’s something there, minutely tangible, because i latched onto him.

though their relationship felt very insta lovey at first, i don’t think it was really carried out in a way that avoids character growth and understanding in their relationship. they have disagreements about communication, about the interpretations of their safety, which showed that while their was an undeniable physical attraction, the two were unravelling their minds to understand each other on a more emotional level. they were just so cute together. the sunshine to the grumpy. the better halves of one another. each other’s biggest supporters through all: the uncomfortable, dangerous, scary, vulnerable - these two were always navigating back to one another to be at their sides. they complimented their individual personalities lovely, and i can’t wait to see more of them in the next book. i wasn’t a major fan of their ending, it was far too rushed for something that had built up throughout, which is why i want to see them have their justified lifestyle illustrated.

i’m excited for the next for theo’s book. i love that man; major kenji energy. let’s go 💅

Yet another quick, sweet, and sexy Megan O’Brien comfort read to add to my list! I was a bit worried about transitioning from the biker heroes of her Ride series to the hot, driven, military men of her Talon Security Series, but I have to say, things have been smooth so far. Both of the books are what I would consider relationship driven with just enough action and suspense to keep me from getting bored although I would have liked there to have been more.

Travis is the actual owner of Talon Security and is Sam’s brother (from book one). He’s a workaholic who’s a bit closed off from everyone and only shows his softer side when his nephew, Hudson, is around.

Emerly is Hudson’s preschool teacher and also happens to be Sam’s yoga instructor. She’s a bit quirky but is also closed off in her own way too. When she isn’t working she’s got her nose buried in a book.

I very much liked both Emerly and Travis, especially when they were together. Travis did have a couple moments where I wanted to shake him for his actions, but Emerly certainly didn’t let him get away with anything, which I loved. I really liked how they pulled each other out of their respective cocoons. The fact they had great chemistry was the icing on the cake.

The suspense aspect, although interesting, didn’t quite live up to its potential. I think there were definitely some missed opportunities that would have catapulted this to the next level if they had been taken advantage of. The ending especially felt a bit rushed which was a disappointment.

Even with the rushed ending, I ended up liking the book. Quirky heroines are a favorite of mine and Emerly fit the bill perfectly. Add in all the broody alpha yumminess of Travis and this is a couple I enjoyed spending time with.

Hero - Travis
Heroine - Emerly

Writing style was okay.
It was not bad, but was not great either. Little drama and angst. Things were solved instantly. A forgettable read for me. Very basic.

My opinion. You may love it.

Claim was a great installment in the Talon Security series. I loved both Travis and Emerly. Claim has all the elements of a great romantic suspense with light sprinkles of humor mixed it. I can't quite put my finger on it but at moments it all seemed like it was a little too..something and I wanted Travis to have a little more...alpha-ness? I know totally not a word .. hence not a 5 star read totally just my personal preference but this will go on my favorites and will be reread from time to time

This is book 2 in the series, I wish I had re-read book 1 as there is alot of mention of characters from book 1 and I couldn't remember them.
Lots of references to others so lots more potential stories.
Travis and Emerly, he is very closed off but Em, as odd as she is, Travis finds her endearing.
A good story, a little inst-love but it works.
The end leads into book 3 Theo and Sarah, as we know she left and he is going to get her.
I did a reread and I still love it.

Emerly and Travis are acquainted because she's friends with Sam, Travis' sister. After a parent gets handsy with her at the school where she's a teacher, Travis is the one who helps her out. From that day onwards, they start dating and things kind of move at warped speed. I liked Emerly she was a strong, independent woman who wasn't used to having anyone take care of her but and there comes Travis who does all and more. There were a few bumps along the way, but once they talked things through and got on the same page things worked out for them. There was a bit of suspense in the book, all the guys at Talon Security were there and welcomes Emerly with open arms, and I loved Mabel, Emerly's 80 year best friend. Travis and Emerly founded their HEA and I hope that Theo and Sarah find theirs.

There's nothing wrong with the book but God damn it, I keep getting fool by the pretty book covers over and over again. The writing style is boring and feels like a 18-year old in a English class winging it for a class project. I used to scoff at romance paperback books being corny but now I'm realizing that those stories weren't bad compared to these kind of short stories. Not everyone has the skills or chops to write a book and it shows. Damn shame because not just this book but a lot of books I been reading lately could be amazing with the right editors and imagination. Oh well.

Security series

Emerly and Travis.
A well written read but a teensy bit predictable. The protagonist is quite a nice character but it's a bit insta-love and I didn't feel the villain of the piece was quite villainous enough. However I enjoyed it.
I have it four stars because as I finished after reading it, I realized I didn't remember the love interests name and had to go back and look it up.
A good summer read.

Has all the ingredients!

I love a hot romance with a plot. The characters were just as good as in book 1 which is a bonus. I hate when a series fizzles. This one sizzles! The author has thrown in some drama too which is always welcome. Add in a hot security specialist and a sweet pre-school teacher and the pages burn. The only complaint I have is that Emerly (love that name) seems so insecure when it comes to love but is a strong, kickass heroine.

Good series.
