Billionaire's Bargain Hot, passionate sex. Nothing more and nothing less. I was supposed to be his next conquest. He walked right into my office like he owned it. Like he owned me. And I let him. How embarrassing; I didn’t even know his name.
He wasn’t my type. He was arrogant, demanding, and drop-dead gorgeous. Hell, he probably spent more time working out than he spent at work. Too bad that bad boy charm was working on me.
Between two jobs, two bosses, and college I now had to deal with another male in my life. At least this one was sexy in a suit... and even sexier out of one.
Billionaire’s Bargain is a full-length, smoking hot, standalone novel with a happy ever after ending and a bad boy you won’t be able to forget!
This Is this author’s first book, and unfortunately you can tell. The story was choppy…we switch POV’s which is fine, BUT once we go from Serena’s POV into Jake’s we go back in time and redo most of the previous scene all over within Jake’s POV. The good thing is this doesn’t happen throughout the whole book…at just certain points. This book definitely has good bones to it…it just needs to be HEAVILY edited. With the right editing done I feel this could be an amazing book but as I said it needs to be heavily edited. Another thing…I don’t recall there ever being anything stated as to where this book takes place but please note going into reading it that the author wrote it in a British dialect. Which isn’t bas but I know some people are less likely to read a book that’s written with a British dialect only because they don’t understand the phrases that are used, (i.e. pissing instead of drunk). Let’s move on to the characters…specifically Serena. She is for lack of a better word stupid. The way she refers to Jake as a “jerk” and a “meathead” when all he has done was tried to help her in the beginning because her boss was trying to finger her in public when she clearly said NO! Then she turns around and says her boss Jeff is not a bad guy…how stupid and naïve do you have to be???? I literally can’t even with this chick…I absolutely hate her character. As I said before this book had good bones to it, it just needs some heavy editing done. I would love to see the author’s later work…being as this is her first book release I would love to see how her writing will grow. Advanced copy received from the author for an honest review
I really enjoyed the billionaires bargain, this is my first book by Ella Finch and what a fantastic read it was and I loved the story, it was fast paced and I don't want to put it down.
Serena was a great character, she was trying to be successful in life and did things the only way she knew how, she needed a job and to pay for college and really just tried to get by. She was a software programmer and she was the best in her field she just needed to have confidence and know that she is good enough. She did have some secrets, but it was just to help her get by.
Jake pretty much was spoon fed by his father and did everything his daddy wanted. He was a little overbearing and had a hot temper especially when it came to Serena. What I loved most about Jake was we got to see him grow up and really try to make a life for himself without his dad having a say in it.
Serena and Jake certainly have a very bumpy road and it's not an easy relationship. They have a great chemistry and you could feel this throughout the pages. I loved the different POV's and it gave all the story from both sides which was great to see how each character felt at the same time.
Great story and fantastic book loved it; if you’re looking for a fast paced and great story line then this one is for you
A good read confusing at times but still interesting. Serena & Jake had one night together and it almost destroyed his career and he promised to keep way from her. Serena has carried on with her job as she can't afford not to work and she is about to run into the one man that she never thought she would see again. Jake can't believe that it is her, he just can't let his father know that she is the woman that almost destroyed his everything. They have to work together and it is hard for both of them as they both still remember that night and how good it was. But they both have too much to lose but just maybe one more time won't harm would it? This is where it is confusing as her boss has a hold on her from before and the only way she can escape is for someone else to buy her and she knows that her past will never leave her so she just can't see a future with Jake in it. Jake's father finds out who she is and that is the last nail in Jake's coffin but will he fight for her? They both go their separate ways but love does seem to win in the end. I received a copy from Ella in exchange for an honest review.
Bad boy billionaire, a nerdy woman, a over bearing father and a sleezy weasel of a boss.
Serena is the top female in her college courses for computer science to become a software engineer. But when a tragic event happens in the family. She must pull up her big girl panties and help her mom. Even if it's pulling two jobs and still going to college. She may have found the perfect guy. But try as she might have landed the perfect job, finally quitting the other. But the past is starting to give her trouble. Will her past ever leave her along?
Jake. It was suppose to be a one night stand. But since that night no matter how much trouble he got in for it. She was never far from his mind. He wanted her again and again. But with no way to contact and his father saying to stay away from the woman. That was that. Or so he thought. Until she came knocking on his father's company door doing a pitch sale...
This is my first Ella Finch Book and as cliche as it sounds, it truly won't be my last. She has a remarkable style that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters in this story are funny, believable and very charismatic, while the storyline had me laughing, sighing and wondering what was going to happen next.
Billionaire’s Bargain is Jake Conway’s story. Jake is the only son and heir to a very dominating father who owns a billion dollar company. A father that also runs roughshod over Jake at every turn. Especially when Jake meets Serena, a woman that turns his world inside out from day one. Serena has secrets of her own and when Jake steps in disaster strikes. Can Jake and Serena work it out or will his Dad and her past issues be too much for them to overcome? This is a fun, flirty romance with a suspenseful twist or two. I highly recommend reading this book, you won't be disappointed.
I really enjoyed reading this book it's funny, steamy and full of suspense. I loved Serena's smart and sexy character. I highly recommend reading this book. I'm looking forward to the next book written by Ella Finch. I received an advance readers copy of this book.
Serena is a college student at the top of her class, working hard to ensure that she can pay for college. She meets Jake at a bar and she has her first one night stand. Then, they end up working together and she tries to fight her attraction. Ella Finch creates a world with Jake and Serena. This is her debut novel and she creates a world full of vibrant characters.
Billionaire's Bargain is the debut novel by Ella Finch. The storyline was interesting and the characters fascinated me, especially our heroine. This book is told in dual points of view but it was still a bit confusing in how our main characters jumped around and avoided situations or discussions that needed to be made.
Serena reminded me of a few people in my life. The uncertainty, the shyness, the low self-esteem. I wanted her best friend to be a true best friend and I just kept getting a weird feeling about Loretta. It was hard for me to get past Jeff's character - all around jerk. Jake frustrated me at times but had that oblivious and thinking "it's just her time of the month" male attitude. As I continued though, I couldn't put it down because I had to know what would happen. So that in its self was my reason for four stars.
I would like to read more from Ella Finch to see her grow in her writing. I'm glad I gave Billionaire's Bargain a chance and hope for more.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book This is my first book by Ella Finch and really enjoyed reading about Jake and Serena. How they first meet and Jake helping Serena against an annoying work colleague Jeff and it drastically changing his life. Jake comes from a privileged background but Serena has to work two jobs to get by, even though she is a talented software programmer. You can tell they are both young by decisions they make. How Jake is influenced by his father and how easily Serena gives in to Jake. Together you follow their lives and wish that things could be better for Serena. A very good read , loved it.
For a first book, it was good, but it was a little confusing at times. Really liked the chemistry she developed between the characters and the love scenes were steamy and on point. Jake was the typical alpha male, hot headed and his character got the best of him. Serena seemed shy, like the girl next door, but early on you could tell that she was hiding something. Their relationship was rocky and exciting, he was her knight in shining armor and that near cost him everything. It's written with alternate POVs, which I love in a book, but it felt kinda a rushed in the narrative at some points. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book very much and I'm looking forward to this author's next work.
This a a great debut book. The characters, Serena and Jake, had instant chemistry. From the moment he saw her at the bar and had to go protect her. It has a great story plot. It has a HEA.
A new book and a new author showing good potential!
This was the first book by Ella Finch I read and, if I'm not wrong, it was the first book she wrote.
As I said before, the book, the story line and the author all had really good potential. I just had some issues about some things that, if the author feels the need to, it can totally be solved. First of all: editing! And I know that initiating as an author must be really hard, but I think this would be great for her work!
I think the pace was a little too fast. I also missed a deeper dialogue. We were told what they were thinking, and that this or that person said something, but I wanted to read them saying instead of being told about. I.e. - and now I'm making it up, I'm not quoting - instead of reading that "he said he wanted to spend more time with me because he likes me", I wanted to read him saying that and more, I didn't want so many quotes, I wanted the conversation (I hope it makes sense).
I also think the characters needed to be more solid. I mean, Serena's boss forced himself on her more than once, he tried to finger her when she said no, he was creepy and still she was often thinking that he could be a good match because Jake wasn't aparently a family guy. How could she be so naive and accept such sexist man? Jake was spoiled and he didn't exactly fought for her, specially against his dad! He put Serena on the fight too instead of stepping up! And they didn't seem to know what they wanted. They wanted to be together, they didn't care about each other; they couldnt be apart, they went on parties and dates; they were falling in love, they thought the other one wasnt worth it.
But dont get me wrong! I said it and I repeat: both book and author have REALLY GOOD potential! Serena and Jake were cute together, the sexy scenes were so hot and they showed great strengh and growth as their lives went on.
Two different class workers will come together with the love. But unlike in Billionaire's Bride with the mother, this story is dealing with Jake's father, an he will pull stunts to brake his son and Serena up for good. There is no cheating on either side but there is blackmail, threats and a sleazy man that will expose Serena's dark pole dancing past and take away her favorite job, software designs and coding. Serena's heart will take a beating a lot throughout this story but Make will always try to protect her, but with being sentenced to jail how will he protect her and sit have her love when he gets out...
* I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book* Between a whimpy male, a weak female, poor grammar, and a silly story, Billionaire's Bargain is really not worth the read. I found Jake to be a self serving, egotistical, daddy's boy and Serena put up with it and went back for more when he dumped her not once, but several times. Weak females drive me nuts and especially when they are repeat suckers. No man is worth losing your self esteem and that goes for an employer as well. Don't even get me started on the poor grammar and sentence structure...... YIKES! There are very few books that I truly disliked as much as this one. Really a waste of time
This book is this author's first book. I liked the style but I disliked Serena. She is very book smart, but people wise she's dumb. Jake was a great guy. I think this author could have benefited from a trusted beta reader. I would love to read more by this author!
This is Ella Finch's debut and I think she did a good job. Serena and Jake meet and the sparks fly. They have a one night stand and figure they'll never see each other again, boy are they wrong. There are times that Jake made me mad, but he's a guy, so what can you expect, lol. Jake's father is a real piece of work, but I won't leave any spoilers about that. I want everyone to read this book and come to their own decisions. I absolutely love what Jake does, when he finally grows up and quits being a daddy's boy. I can't wait to read Ella's next book.
This is my first book by Ella Finch. I was very excited when I read the blurb. I thought the book was a little fast paced. I kind a wanted everything to draw out a little . Serena and Jake were both good characters both were flawed, she was a little whiny and he didn't really remind me of an alpha. I think the sex scenes could have been described a better a few choice words I would not of used. I did not like the back-and-forth of them repeating the same thing. The last thing I didn't like was it felt to and then ..... and then . Not enough description. Don't get me wrong it was a awesome book I did like the romance and I can still feel their feelings for each other.
Billionaire's Bargain is my first attempt at reading an Ella Finch novel and I have to say it was an impressive experience. Serena and Jake effectively seduced me with their first account narratives, while showing the chinks in their armor along the way. Overachiever Serena is used to success, but at what cost to her self - esteem? Jake is a walking contradiction. He makes an impression with muscle bound good looks and an overpowering alpha personality, but struggles with father - son issues. Jake and Serena have a tendency of making the wrong choices for the right reasons. He wants to be her savior. She longs to be his everything. Will they find success in making their secret dreams come true?
What an awesome debut by Ella Finch. This book is a great story and Jake and Serena are HOT!!!!
It all begins with a one night stand. You know of course it never will be a quick tumble and a goodbye...that would be a VERY short debut! LOL! When they meet again things become obvious that this relationship is going straight past the friends stage and into the next level of a hot, scorching romance! Even if there are some very big hurdles along the way!
It was so nice to see the male character having to grow a little and break free from ties that bind in the form of his overbearing father instead of it being the female character for a change. Jake has to develop from a spoilt boy into a man who realised he loves Serena and will stop at nothing and fight for her. Serena has a past of her own and it is her fear, insecurities and lack of self-worth that makes her such a loveable character for us as readers as well as for Jake.
There are times in this book you are wondering why Ella has written the story as is but by the time we reach the end we are certainly clear on where she wanted to go! For a debut novel this one is very well put together and has me adding her to my growing pile of authors to keep an eye out for future releases.....my only hope is that somewhere down the line, Ella allows us to see more into the world of Jake and Serena.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book
Billionaire's Bargain was a good first effort by new author, Ella Finch. The problem I had with this story was the lack of editing. I know how difficult it is for any new author to make it in this industry. It's competitive, cut throat, and in most genres, completely over-saturated. That being said, as an editor myself, it is of utmost importance to have your work done properly to make yourself stand out, and quite honestly, to be considered a legitimate writer. The storyline itself was solid, yet I'm not a fan of unprotected sex, especially when you don't even know your partner's last name. Yeah, I get it, it's a new world out there and everyone is loving everyone, but c'mon, show some self-respect.
I just wish the writer would have had a beta reader or two to set her in the right direction. In the end, I think that Jake and Serena were a perfect couple for each other. The storyline moved swiftly with both POV's, and there was plenty attention to detail. Edit, edit, edit!! I was given this ARC for an honest review, and honest it certainly is.
