His Heart, Her Loyalty

Rate this book
Young, beautiful Siona didn't pick the life of being the daughter of two notorious gang members, she was forced to adapt to it. Growing up, that was all she knew. So, after losing her parents at the young age of 12, it was only right that she followed in their footsteps to keep their legacy alive.

Obsessed with being a part of her parents’ legacy, Siona pays her childhood best friend, Safi, who is head over heels for her, no mind. To the average female, Safi was perfect, but for Siona he didn't quite meet her expectations. Her dream man had to be a part of the same life that she always dreamed of having, which was a replica of the Bonnie and Clyde relationship that her parents once shared.

Safi may not be everything Siona is searching for, but he is not to be slept on. He has demons inside of him that he is adamant about keeping on a leash. There's only two things he wants, that's to keep his mother happy and Siona. He'll stop at nothing to win her over, that is until tragedy strikes a little too close to home. The beast that Safi tried so desperately to keep on a leash erupts and Safi goes on a rampage, destroying everything in his path. Will he be able to put the beast back in a cage, or will his anger be his downfall?

Join Siona and Safi as they battle through gang rivalries, a new relationship and everything the street life has to offer. They'll soon learn that loyalty and love fit hand in hand, but lies and deceit do the same. Can Siona spot her wolves in sheep clothing or will she end up realizing that the footsteps her parents left behind were too big for her small feet to follow in? Find out what will happen when she has his heart, but the streets has hers.

Siona was trying to do to much for all the wrong reasons. She wasn't so badly to keep her family's legacy, that shes not realizing what her family started is not what RSK is today. Without a understanding or knowledge of the gang culture, I had a hard time understanding the motives of the characters. Killa was definitely the wrong choice to lead RSK and having Safi take over head of GMB out the blue is interesting. Sage being killed was sad... but started off all the action. Bring on Fetish and Ghost!!

Urban literature is one of the genres I have a time with. The language and manner of speaking always has me on guard. This book has difficult with the slang and incessant N word usage. The players were just too young for the subject matter.. A decent read.

This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The character development was good, I liked how the plot unfolded and how Siona and Safi's lives paralleled each other later on but their Romeo and Juliet connection remained.

This was my first read by this author and it will not be my last. I was skeptical at first about reading a new author, but this read was pretty decent. It flowed nicely. I really like Safi. Siona is full if herself and a brat. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Looking for love in the wrong places.

So much drama!! I’m so torn. I’m so mad at Siona. Why can’t she just love him like he wants to love her. She is definitely looking for love in all the wrong places.

Ready to rumble

I was all in this book. I like how the gears shifted with the storyline. Si is my girl and jm sure my attitude towards her will change since he is Fetish now. Killa is one character I absolutely dislike. This guy is in the picture cocky and arrogant to the point it's irritating. I'm all for Safi before and after he became Ghost. I already know alot of stuff bout to shake in part 2 with these 2 gangs clashing. You will see all the love and hate in this book. Si and Safi would have been a great couple and there's still some hope.

First off let me say that Sa'Ja has changed the game with this one! Her unpredictable plot combined with the amount of humor and 'gangsta' that she put into this was beyond enjoyable. I cannot emphasize enough how skilled she is at creating rich, realistic conversations amongst her characters. One minute you are cracking the heck up and then the next you are emotionally devastated because of what went down! From page one, I was immediately captured by the main character, Siona who was basically the princess of the Red Savage Gang. Her life began crazy but, I was glad that her Uncle Nas took her in and raised her like his own alongside his daughter, and Siona's best friend, Bambi! Their shenanigans and conversations kept me rolling and I enjoyed their friendship throughout the book. Safi and Siona (I love their names by the way) little relationship drove me up the wall at first. I was like, why can't they just get it together already but when the madness went down about Sage, all heck broke loose and I seen a side of Safi I didn't like...Things quickly got ugly after Safi demand that she choose between him or the empire that her parents had built from the ground up. I don't want to reveal too much of the story because the plot and thought behind this piece of work was genius but I will say that I was holding on to the edge of my seat the entire ride and I am anxious to see what happens in part 2. Siona IS the princess of the SKG gang and now that this war between them and the GMB crew, I think it's time that she take her rightful place as the Queen now that she is eighteen. I grew so connected to the characters that at the end, I didn't like how disrespectful Killa was or how he gained his 'stripes'. He was running things all shiesty. With with this being my first time reading any of Sa'Jas work, I was charmed by her talent and want to read more! Her book read smoothly, the plot was something I didn't see coming and I know this sounds crazy, but I enjoyed the way the characters carried on their conversations cussing up a storm because that's how people really talk where I am from. Lol. The end left me breathlessly because it had a hint of 'romeo and Juliet' that made my heart ache for Siona and Safi. All in all, I take my hat off to her creativity. Anyways I could go on for days about this one because it was just that good! But bottom line: I Can't wait to read part 2!!
