Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren lived in the South and the Mid-Atlantic before hopping to the other side of the country to take up the life of a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her landlocking phobia. Hmm, need to research a scientific term for that...

When not scrambling frantically to complete her latest writing project, Christine spends most of her time as a crazy animal lady, hanging out with her dog Levi (he’s the one with the hair) and pretending to train him to have some manners. She also hangs out with her horse, Cal—a thoroughbred with a craving for strawberry licorice twists—her goddog, Merlin; and her best friend, fellow author Hannah Murray. In addition to playing with her pets, Christine’s hobbies include identifying dog breeds from photos of their underbellies, appreciating fine and not-so-fine wines, shopping for the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over.

Hard Breaker is book six in the Gargoyles series by Christine Warren. I have loved this series since the beginning. I admit, some books I loved more than others, some I felt the connection between the characters more than others. But every one stole my heart as each couple both bonded as mates and stormed towards an epic battle against the darkness.

In this book we meet Ivy Beckett. She had a vague understanding of the world of Guardians and Wardens fighting to protect the world against the sinister demonic darkness. But she was never sure how much of it was in her Uncle’s imagination or how much of it was real, until both her Uncle and cousin were killed.

Ivy is a Clairaudient, she can hear events as they happen, sort of like a vision, just without actually seeing it. This is exactly how she knew that her Uncle had been killed, and exactly how they died. After that she plunged herself into the world she knew very little of, and worked to save the Wardens from certain death by getting them to safety in a sort of underground they had devised. If you have read any of this series, then you know what comes next. Ivy gets herself into a situation that she would not survive, until a newly awakened Gargoyle swoops in to save her.

gargoyle

Meet Baen, the sixth Gargoyle to awaken upon hearing the cries of Ivy. Baen easily accepts the fact that Ivy is both his Warden and his destined mate. Ivy not so much. First of all, Ivy doesn’t consider her Clairaudience a magical talent. All Wardens have a talent. And when she learns of the legends of the maidens who magically awakened the Gargoyles and became their mates, she is not on board with it. To have her significant other chosen by fate, not by her own choice, doesn’t sit easily with her.

gargoyle

Together, these two are thrust into the chaos as they are attacked several times just in the first forty eight hours since Baen awakened, at the same time, struggling with their new found connection. But let me tell you that Baen did not lack in his ability to make me swoon. That man, er, Gargoyle, was sex on a stick, or should I say rock? He knew exactly what he wanted, and he wanted Ivy.

“Baen might be immune to magic and toughened to the blows of his enemies, but this little human possessed the power to destroy him with a single gesture. The knowledge of it humbled him and made him determined to please her so thoroughly she would never wish to be parted from him.”

gargoyle and woman

This is the final book in this series and we finally get to see all of our beloved characters united for one epic battle against the demons of the darkness. Be prepared for some surprises as well.

“I will not cease to love you for as long as there is Light in the universe. Because you are my Light, and everything aside from you fades into insignificance.”

light battles darkness

I suppose you could read this as a stand alone. There is plenty of information given for you to jump in. But I do hope you’ll take a look at the whole series if you haven’t already. If you enjoy sexy Gargoyles, then I really believe that you’ll love this series as much as I have.

love conquers all

“They shared one heart and one breath and that was all they needed to survive. Each other.”

Seven Guardians to protect humans from evil when evil is at its greatest. Legendary, and not all male anymore, the guardians are amazing warriors.

Baen wakes to the battle cries of Ivy Beckett, a gifted human, who has been attacked by demons. This awakening creates a bond, unlike anything, knew to the Guardian history before. Baen just knows Ivy is his mate.

This is my first book into the Gargoyle series and I believe the final book in this series. I must say that I quickly picked up on the plot and was able to follow the story completely. That being said, I would like to revisit the previous stories because each individual waking must contain an amazing tale if it holds to Baen’s and Ivy’s.

Heated chemistry, superior alpha warriors and amazing woman and or man to back them up while the gates of hell are busting open, what more could any scifi fantasy ask for.

I received this ARC copy of Hard Breaker from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review.

3.5 ~ Ivy and Baen ~ Stars

This is the story of Ivy and Baen and the ongoing battle between those who fight for the Light and the sinister Order. With the threat of the Seven (demons who, if released from their hell prisons, will combine forces and destroy and enslave the world) becoming more and more likely, Ivy has abandoned her blissfully ignorant civilian life and dedicated herself to finding the few Wardens still left alive and getting them safely to the last safe haven for them in France.

After losing her cousin and uncle to the Order's ruthless killers, Ivy hopes her small part in fighting back will make up for the guilt she feels for not being able to help her family when they most needed it. Her gift of clairaudial empathy allows her to hear people, usually during emotionally charged moments. But she only hears things as they are happening and she can't interact with the people which makes her feel that her gift is more of a curse.

Although she grew up hearing stories of the legendary wardens and the Guardians, Ivy never once thought she would one day summon a warrior to help her fight against the darkness. Baen is one of the seven stone guardians and when things get a bit dicey, Baen awakens to aide Ivy when she is ambushed by the Order's minions.

Finding out she's a warden and that the fight against the Darkness is a lot closer than anyone assumed, is pretty bad but finding out your fate has been irrevocably tied to a stony hottie with plans of forever, is a whole other matter.

What I liked about it:
The story is definitely moving towards the big finale and I can feel how epic-ally kick ass it's going to be and Ivy and Baen's adventure fuels the fire and keeps the anticipation high. The action and suspense is alive and kicking and it definitely helped to have a semi reunion with the rest of the Guardians. I loved catching up with the other couples and seeing their family dynamic take shape.

Romance-wise, I though Baen was an amazing H, he was thoughtful, caring and decisive. No beating around the bush or hesitation for him. He knew that Ivy was his and he embraced her 100%. The advice from his brothers and sister helped him transition from protector to helpmate when it came to Ivy. He is my favorite type of Hero. He might be broody and a man of few words but he makes those few count and his actions speak louder than words.

And I love the way the Guardians are so literal and how modern day slang or references completely go over their heads. It cracks me up every time it happens. I'm a sucker for it :)

What I didn't like:
It's hard to explain but Ivy was a hard character to pin point. In the beginning we see her as a pretty bad ass chick. Not everyone would leave her nice safe life behind to literally put her soul in danger to try and save the world but Ivy does it without a single flutter of indecision. But than Baen enters the picture and all of a sudden she's maybe yes but then no, maybe yes again but really no again. Her moods and train of thought when it came to her true feelings for Baen caused some serious whiplash. She had some valid points for not immediately falling into line when it came to Baen being her mate but I felt bad for Baen every time Ivy doubted their connection. Every time she down played her feelings and disregarded Baen's was some heavy stuff to read through. Yes it paved the way for some awesome dialogue about Fate but it seemed that it was at the cost of Baen's very real emotions.

Favorite Line(s):
"Fighting Fate is not a bad thing. In fact, I believe that Fate wants us to struggle against it, for if we accept it too quickly, it can see that we may lack the strength for what it has planned.

"...if Fate insists on guiding us along a certain path even after we resist, it is not because it wishes to trap us, but because it knows that the place it guides us toward is the place we will best be able to become our true selves. In other words, Fate does not wish to be humanity's puppet master, only our treasure map.

Memorable Moments:
Any time Baen and the other Guardians were in the same room together. I loved reading about them!

3 1/2 stars Guardians have always been the protectors of the world from evil. They sleep till they are needed and once summonsed protect the world. But there was a time when the guardians felt taken advantage of and decided they no longer wanted to protect humanity. Once that happened only the pleading from their destined mates could summon them. Now many years later that is only thought of as a myth, the guardians still protect when called upon but no one realizes that those ancient tales are true.

Ivy’s world turned upside down when she heard in her dreams her uncle and cousin being murdered. Now she does everything she can to protect the world by helping to keep wardens safe. While protecting and transporting one warden Ivy is put in danger when demons come to get the warden she is protecting. When a guardian comes and saves the day Ivy is shocked. Baen came and not only protected the warden but saved her life as well.

Since no one summoned Baen he knows that Ivy must not only be his personal warden but also his destined mate. And though saving the world especially with the state it is in is important Ivy’s safety is the most important. But Ivy is convinces Baen is wrong about both counts. With the world falling apart all around them and evil set on taking over the world all the guardians and their mates must work together to save humanity and Baen will do everything he can with every spare moment he has convincing Ivy she’s his.

Ok so fair discloser here I shouldn’t have read this book. Was it good, yes it was really good. I loved the writing style and the world this author created and I especially loved the two main characters Baen and Ivy. However I didn’t realize this was not the first in the series. Had I looked into it at all I would have seen that this was not book 1 but in fact book 6 but to be fair to myself this wasn’t numbered and Amazon does not have this listed as book 6 either I had to look on Goodreads when I stared getting confused.

So I am not the best to read this book. I really liked it but I was confused and their was so much going on I didn’t know about and so many charters that I didn’t know anything about that I know I missed too much and would have enjoyed it more had I actually started at book 1, and I know that’s all on me.

What I will say is this book is really good, the main charters were great and the story was great. I would be more inclined to call this urban fantasy, yes there is romance and great romance at that but there is also tons of world building and action. As I’m sure you can guess I don’t recommend reading just this book, this series should be read from beginning to end, but from what I can see( including being introduced to the previous main characters) this series is full of not only romance but a great story and tons of action while everyone try’s to save the world from evil.

Having enjoyed this authors 'Others ' series and I was extremely happy to dive into these books about gargoyles. The idea of seven Guardians created to defeat seven Demons and keep the ultimate darkness locked up seemed like a really interesting idea. What really helped to elevate it though was the thought that these stone Guardians could be called to life by human Wardens using magic. As so often happened in the past men were considered superior and traditionally women were not trained to use magic but alas shortsighted humans underestimated just what the Guardians needed . Now it's a whole different scenario as six of the most powerful and evil beings are loose and they've slaughtered virtually all the known Wardens but somehow good has managed to bring previously unknown women ( and one man!) into contact with the sleeping Guardians and as the stakes get raised there's only one chance left to save the world.
I really enjoyed the first couple of books but started to feel that the stories were getting a little similar. Now that all changed with the arrival of a female Guardian in the last book so I was very excited to read this follow up. Ivy is our heroine and she's one very determined lady! Oh she knows her odd abilities don't really help much but with the recent deaths of family members she is set on rescuing as many surviving Wardens as she can. Trouble is not all are exactly willing and when Ivy and her charge are attacked a very large and stony Baen comes to life! Baen doesn't really listen to Ivy and it's fair to say the independent woman and the protective gargoyle but heads . Still they share an attraction that is clearly destined but how does Baen convince Ivy?
I did enjoy this but alas for some reason the romance didn't set me on fire. I liked the couple but I didn't really feel much passion. What was fun was seeing previous characters reappear and at times they added much needed levity which is always a plus. Yes Baen is the sixth Guardian to awaken but this book also gives us the seventh Guardian too which means the series has ended. If I think about it that's probably for the best as keeping it fresh and appealing is difficult to do when the basic premise is always the same. So I applaud the author for calling time and look forward to what else her imagination might dream up next.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is great and goes with the rest of the series!

This is the 6th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content and violence. I highly recommend reading all the books in order because this is the culmination of the series, and everything has led up to this book.

Wow! So many things I didn’t see coming, and it was a fantastic adventure. Ivy and Baen as well as some others are new to the scene in this book, and they are all kicking Darkness’ butt. This whole book rocked like a new Guardian waking up! I don’t want to give anything away, but you will not want to put this book down. I love all the action, the love, and the snarky banter between the characters. This is a great book.

Christine told a fantastic story that you feel you are going through. Christine is one of my favorite authors, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

I highly recommend to any paranormal romance fans who loves gargoyles, romance, good vs evil battles, and so much more!

Enjoy paranormal romances with a twist? Look no further! Christine Warren has written this action packed series but I don't think you need to have any of the others to appreciate this book.

Ivy Beckett has an usual gift - or curse, depending on your point of view - she hears things that are happening in distant locations. She doesn't see anyone or anything, just hears. She can't choose when or if she does this, either, and sometimes what she hears can be a traumatic experience - like hearing the last moments of her Uncle and cousin, including their murder. This triggers her move to London where she works to help send Wardens who are fighting her family's killers, the servants of Darkness. It is whilst involved in one such mission that she is forced to fight three demon infested humans. With the warden a quivering wreck, she's on her own and bound to fail - until a gargoyle guardian, Baen, flies in to the rescue! Thus starts a dramatic, suspense filled adventure as she discovers more about those fighting for Light, against the Darkness, is unsure just who to trust, is betrayed, makes new friends and allies, helps in a dramatic rescue and discovers romance!

This is a fast paced, engaging and enthralling paranormal romantic suspense, a real page turner that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....

I can't believe this series is already over. I really enjoyed this series and love that the hero's are a little different in the paranormal world. I've had a thing for Gargoyle's since the cartoon came out. Love them! Just the thought of them turning to stone by day. Now, these don't do that they are stone till they are needed.

Oh boy were these guys needed.

Since the first book, Heart of Stone I've been hooked and wanted more. The author does a wonderful job tell all her gargoyles stories. I really can't tell you which one is my favorite but for review purposes lets go with this one.

I totally loved Hard Breaker. Just the title alone gave me some naughty thoughts. After I start the book I was then getting naughty thoughts about Baen. Oh boy! Right away you knew he was like the other gargoyle, hot, sexy and totally alpha. I connected with him right away.

You will also enjoy and connect with Ivy. You feel really bad for her with her gift. Talk about a gift being a burden. This one is at times. One major time for her that's for sure.

I felt that these two worked together, they added so much to the main story like that is a thread in all the books. The author picked great characters to end this series with. I felt very satisfied with the ending and can't wait to see what the author comes up with next?

I really think you should give this series a try. Make sure to read the books in order so that each other will be a richer for it.

This was an intriguing read for me. The idea of a gargoyle that comes to life and mates with a human was enough to snag my attention and had me wanting to read this series. I didn't start with book one. I had read book 5 when it got released at the beginning of the year. The overall series plot was good. It was interesting and kept my attention, but I will admit that having the heroine in book 5 as the gargoyle threw me a bit. I do love a woman with power, but I like for her to have an equal as a mate.

I admit, I loved this book more having Baen as the Gargoyle. He fit the idea of a Gargoyle to me. He was a big, strong and behaved more like a military man. His protectiveness towards Ivy was appealing. His acceptance of her as his mate was absolute. Then seeing him commiserate with his "brothers" over the stubborn female was entertaining.

Add in the way the author brought all the Gargoyles and their mates together to battle the ultimate evil and I was riveted to this story. I am a bit confused to if this is the final in the series. The evil is conquered but the book ended abruptly. No epilogue. I'm not sure if the author has something planned for their future or if that really is the end.

Hard Breaker by Christine Warren is book Six in the "Gargoyles" series. This is the story of Ivy and Baen. I have read the previous book but do feel this can easily be a standalone book. Baen is a gargoyle who is assigned to protect the humans from the Darkness. When been comes in to save Ivy he is immediately drawn to her and very protective of her. Ivy has special powers that have lead to some harsh things. Baen is a strong Alpha male type with Ivy who is very independent...she had to be really. I enjoyed seeing these two come together along with the exciting story line. Not an easy book to put down for sure!

Action-filled, filled with humour, ending…

All that came before it, led up to this moment of reckoning. Ivy and Baen, with the help of all the Wardens and Guardians, united at last for the final battle. And what a battle it was! The evil were even more slimy and putrid than I could have imagined but, in the end, the energy and magic, the strength, of the warriors and their loves proved even deadlier…

I started this series late and struggled to find its groove. Though this book had a slow start for me, the why’s and wherefores were repeated in different ways over and over at the beginning, the tone soon changed. Ivy and Baen together were pure magic, love magic even more real than the magic Ivy surprisingly could wield. I couldn’t imagine finding love when you’re trying to save the world but as Ivy discovered her talents, Baen discovered her…

Filled with witty dialogue and a relentless, entertaining, march to the inevitable final scenes, their courtship was filled with the humour I love from this author and an otherworld charm that proved irresistible… ~Diane, 4 stars

Demons, Watchers, and Guardians…OH MY. Warren’s latest PNR involves Gargoyles and saving the world.I enjoyed her The Others series which I found the perfect blend of action, romance, and dry humor. I hadn’t read the first five of this series but I know Warren usually writes her books as standalones. Warren starts off recapping the ongoing arc painstakingly explaining the world and the events that led up to where we are now and jumping immediately into the action. The premise is good vs evil. Demons break free their prison to come overtake the world and a group of watchers “wake up” their guardians/gargoyles to fight and dispatch them back to Hell. The gargoyles are then put back to sleep until they are needed again. Of course, after never-ending cycles of this the gargoyles get tired of being used and stop coming to the rescue. Now the watchers are being murdered and a new batch of watchers are being inducted-female watchers. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even get past the first 20% of this one. I couldn’t seem to connect on any level and the dry academic tone bored me.

Well this is the end of the Gargoyles/Guardian series and it went out with a book not as good as the one that it come in on IMHO.

I scanned large portions, the author spent inordinate amounts of time inside the heroines head in conversations with herself, subtract those pages and the multiple sex scenes and you have a great story of about 200 pages instead of the 336 it actually is but since I have read every one of these books and enjoyed them all to some level I am glad to see a decent closing to the series even if I thought the last couple were probably the worst ones of the 6 books.

Why 4 Stars then? Because those 200 pages I told you about, it was a great story, a great (if rushed a bit) ending and everything pretty much wrapped up nicely with a bow on top :)

So even with my scanning and dislike of the extra pages, it was a 4 star book as a finale.

Baen is an easily offended man, “you doubt your safety with me?” The Guardian looked so insulted that Ivy had to bite back a laugh." Baen is one protective man, he gets blood thirsty when his woman is injured, “be careful!” Baen bellowed, turning a furious glare on their driver. “If you have caused Ivy serious injury, I will rip you apart, Warden or no.” I liked this book, I loved Baen the man was protective and possessive.

This is a fast paced, action filled read that covers enough ground from the previous books that it can be read as a stand alone. I do think I would’ve enjoyed it more had I read them first however.
Ivy intrigued me with her gift of being able to hear what was going on at certain points and times. She is a strong heroine and extremely independent. The fact that she is a Warden and never knew is not something she accepts easily. Nor is the fact that she’s the mate of Baen – a gargoyle come to live in order to help fight the darkness.

I loved Baen and his overall need to protect Ivy and claim her as his mate as she was definitely his Warden. Even if she fought it.

While I enjoyed a lot of this book, I struggled with Ivy’s inner musings. Sometimes they were just so juvenile and began to wear on my nerves. I found myself skimming a lot of her thoughts.
Overall, I enjoyed it and wonder if I wouldn’t enjoy the previous books. I do think this will be the perfect read for someone who won’t mind Ivy. I definitely think this was a case of “it’s me, not the book”.

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This series is just so good. I've enjoyed it up until this point and I think this is one of my faves. The story is so well written and with such fantastical descriptiveness it almost feels real. I love Baen & Ivy as a couple. Baen is well, everything a hero should be. He may be a tough guy but with Ivy he is sweet and gentle. I really like Ivy too, she is so down to earth and sweet.
The storyline is what fuels this book and it is amazing and you should really check it out as it is different from other PNR's out there. I really liked it!!!!

Hard Breaker by Christine Warren is book Six in the "Gargoyles" series. This is the story of Ivy and Baen. Since enjoying the other books in the series, I wasn’t sure what I would find with book 6 --The cover is great and goes with the series perfectly. There is a huge steam/sizzle factor in this book and there is a lot of action/violence so FYI. Ivy and Baen as well , as well as others introduced are new in this book which gives a freshness factor. Having Baen as the Gargoyle really made a lot of sense and I loved it for he fit the part perfectly. His protectiveness towards Ivy was spot on and he acted all alpha male and was strong and tall, which again is perfect for what a gargoyle should be. Ivy was all sassy and stubborn but what better way for Baen and her to have their fiery battles while battling the evil. Plus there was a great point when we got to see all the Gargoyles and their mates when they battled the bad bad evil. I do wish that there was an epologue because its as if this was the final book in the series , but the way the book ended, could be maybe the series could be picked back up and written more of later so that is confusing. I loved this series and hope this isn’t the end. I would love to know what happened to everyone since there wasn’t a firm ending for this series. Otherwise, perfect chemistry between the MCs and I loved the secondary characters in this book.

HARD BREAKER is a fun, action-filled book that works shockingly well as a standalone story especially considering it is the last book in a series. The flashback introduction helps set up the world of Guardians/gargoyles and magic in just a few pages getting you up to speed on the who, why, and what of the overall series. Being the last of a series, there is a lot of tension and build up, fighting and huge reveals to keep even new to the series readers glued to the pages and surprisingly not to confused by what is going on.

The romance between Ivy and Baen had a lot of push and pull especially considering Ivy is such an stubborn, independent woman going up against a practically immortal gargoyle. I love a good rocky start to a relationship as it makes the couple's commitment in the end seem all the more deserved and theirs has quite a few rocky moments. I kept imagining Baen looking like the one of the gargoyles from the 90s Gargoyles cartoon and kept imagining Ivy making out with some grey stony looking guy. He's described as able to turn into a normal skin tone human but I couldn't get the grey gargoyle image out of my head! Weird flashbacks to the 90s aside, I enjoyed how Ivy's ability to hear voices and feel events was actually developed and worked with in the final battle. I kind of agreed with Ivy that it was a useless ability for their needs. Luckily we were both wrong in the end! Her skill is actually pretty useful for what was an epic end battle involving all of the characters from the previous books and some pretty scary demons.

HARD BREAKER was a great paranormal romance with a wonderfully created world and story full of suspense, danger, and passion. While the series has ended, I'm intrigued enough by some of the other couples featured in HARD BREAKER to go back and read some of the previous books.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Christine Warren's Gargoyles series from the beginning and "Hard Breaker" did not let me down although I was a bit disappointed to learn it was the final book despite Baen only being the sixth gargoyle we've met.

Ivy Beckett has a gift that feels more like a curse to her as she can only hear an event, she cannot see anything nor can she affect the events in any way. However, her gift is the reason she knows when her uncle and cousin are killed by the Darkness. She travels to London and joins the fight by getting Wardens safely to Paris via the "underground railroad" that's been set up. Her latest job seems to go wrong from the beginning. Ivy needs to get Martin to her Paris contact but shortly after they leave the bar where they'd met up they're attacked by three demons. When the demons have Ivy up against the side of a build she figures it's the end. Instead, she comes face to face with a gargoyle who keeps telling her that she's his Warden.

Ivy and Baen soon make a post on the internet to try to find other Gargoyle/Warden pairs. Shortly afterwards Ash and Michael "Drum" show up on their doorstep which leads to a tense beginning between Baen and the one female gargoyle! They all soon meet in Paris and the fight for our world commences as we learn the name and location of the seventh gargoyle. And in between all the fighting, Ivy and Baen come to terms with their feelings for each other.

I highly recommend this series although it's definitely for adults only.

Hard Breaker by Christine Warren
Gargoyles #6

In the finale of this series two gargoyles make their appearance with one getting short shrift…at least in my opinion…Ghrem makes an appearance late in the story along with his Warden instead of getting a whole book for the two of them. I was happy to find out how the series ended but have to say that the ending left me underwhelmed.

The main players are gargoyle Baen who comes to Ivy’s assistance as she is assisting a Warden to safety. Other Warden-Guardian couples make appearances, fights with demons inhabiting humans occur frequently, mythology is shared, angsting and denial by Ivy is prevalent, wooing-of sorts- is done by Baen, and alpha behavior on the part of Baen and other Guardians is exhibited.

There is a myth that tells of Maidens with power/magic awakening Guardians/gargoyles when they are most needed and normal calling to awaken and defend does not suffice and it says that the Warden and Guardian will mate, live a mortal life, enjoy love and happiness and then die as other guardians are called to take their places and act should they be needed at some point in the future. The assumption is that if all seven Guardians in this series survive, they manage to defeat the Darkness and imprison the seven demons then they and their Wardens will walk off into the sunset to enjoy a happily ever after.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I am freaking in love with this book! I was glued to the pages, anxiously flipping to see what would happen next! Unfortunately, sleeping, working, ya know, life in general, happens so yay! for a holiday to finally finish this story! Baen and Ivy’s relationship wavered in the beginning, but once they both got on the same page of feelings, ah..love, true love.. (okay that line is Princess Bride, but that story rocks too!) And the finale! I’m clapping my hands with giddy glee here! Totally satisfying for the action junkie in me, AND it lived up to the hype that’s been happening over the course of the series!

Conclusion: Hard Breaker is obviously my favorite book in the Gargoyle series! A well written romance, the hail! hail! the gangs all here and all that jazz moment, and a fantastic end sequence. Yeah, I’m on cloud nine!

I was given this book to review, I didn't ask for it and I wasn't sure I was going to read it, when I realized it was already the 6th book in the series, I had this overwhelming urge to read them in order. My OCD if you will with series, but I thought to myself why not give it ago...

Now for my first time in reading this author, I was pleasantly surprised. I will not give the story away, because what fun would that be.

I will tell you that it is written well, and the plot flows nicely. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed there chemistry and I would re think about starting from the beginning with the series.

Steamy scenes, mixed with and interesting story line and a nice mix of humour and fast paced story telling.

Hard Breaker by Christine Warren is Book 6 of the Gargoyles Series.

This was the first book of the series that I’ve read and I didn’t have any issues with following along with the story. Ms. Warren has a knack for writing exceptional PNR and Hard Breaker is another fantab read...loved it! A definite must-read. I’ll be going back and getting caught up on the series.

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

I love Gargoyles. I'm sad the series ended without the seventh getting his own story. But it was about time, I suppose, that the world got saved. Definitely enjoyed the read, though I wasn't as fired up about Baen and Ivy as some of the other Gargoyles and 'Maidens'. But a worthy read for any paranormal romance fan.

The finale to the Gargoyles series has arrived! With kick-ass females and their supernatural men here to literally save the world.

Ivy's grown up hearing tales of the Light and the Darkness from her uncle and cousin. Her family is a long line of those who fight the evil Darkness called The Guild. She never thought much of her gift, the ability to hear events as they happen miles away from her. But hearing the gruesome death of her uncle and cousin launches her call to action to rid the world of the Darkness.

Now on the run and helping any Guild members left alive to escape she comes across an ambush that almost ends her life. Until Baen, her own fearsome Guardian steps in and banishes them without a second thought. With the shock of a Guardian right before her eyes, Ivy has to determine what's true and who she can trust. Legend tells of a secret about the Wardens she never knew and it seems the legend may be about her.

As our wardens from past novels come together we learn the final plan of the Nocturnis. Hard Breaker is a non-stop action romance that culminates all the past stories into one final epic battle. There are glimpses into past couples as they help Baen and Ivy come to terms with the world's new truth. And a final character comes in to play to help the Wardens and the Guardians fight true evil in a battle of epic proportions. I loved this story so much and I don't want to spoil any of it for you! This may be a tale of magic beyond anything I've read lately but it's written in a way so believably perfect.

If you love the supernatural, romance, bad-ass heroines, heroes who respect their females, a world of mystical powers and secrets then this series, and this finale, is the one for you!

Hard Breaker was a good wrap up to Warren's Gargolye series. The beginning is very strong with a great intro to the heroine, and it dealt nicely with the question of fated mates later on - with a very touching speech by the stoney leading man (<3 gargoyles) Heat Breaker felt fresher at book 6 then some of the middle books in the series - smart move on Warren's part not to stretch it out to one more book.

ARC from the publisher.

It left me hanging. It was like that's it? how about a clean ending? How about showing the us the after 5 or a moth off something...

I like the twist, but not how it ended.

vy has a strange magical gift, she hears things. Unfortunately by the time she hears them it's too late to stop them happening. So as far as she is concerned it's a useless gift. Never more so than when she hears her uncle and cousin being killed in England when she is in the USA. That doesn't stop her from going and trying to complete their work.
Baen is a gargoyle guardian who has been woken from hundreds of years sleep to find a battle going on. That's exactly what he's built for. When he finds out the sorry state of affairs the Guild and the Wardens have to deal with, he knows it's time to summon his brothers.
This is the climax to a series. Unfortunately I haven't read the other books, but I still loved this one. The author's mad sense of humour makes what could be ordinary paranormal into such a fun read. There is danger, magic, sex and laughs galore. Our heroine thought she knew what she was getting into. She didn't know the half of it. Our hero is a typical Alpha male who needs to learn about modern females.
I loved every page.
