Strange world!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😮🙂
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual/Duet Narration

The heroine: Stoan - he had betrayed his boss Commander Nina and had to pay the consequences. He had been hired to do the job her normal operatives couldn’t do. He took on extremely dangerous missions since he was 26 years old and hadn’t yet found his fated mate, his denya. Males of his species died soon after turning 30 if they were unmated, though mated pairs can live up to 200 years or more.

The Hero: Reina - she was in the process of divorcing her husband when she got word that her husband was killed by the warlord General Drascas. Her husband Lex sent her a transmission that implicated the general in a scheme to steal from Nina. Later Reina and her brother were attacked and her brother was kidnapped. He was now safe and recovering from his injuries.

The Story: Commander Nina wanted Stoan to go on a new mission and he was to take a new partner, Reina. He knew as soon as he saw her that she was his mate, but he had already made his choices and he would never be able to be with her. However, the bruises on Reina stirred his protective instincts. They are to take something from the General.

Reina is attracted to Stoan from the start, and though she had no love for her husband by the time he died, she still didn’t think it was right to feel what she was feeling so soon after his death. Stoan had to restrain himself since he planned to ignore his bond to Reina.

The story was a bit strange as it didn’t explain well why Stoan didn’t want to mate and assure himself that he would live a long life. It seemed he though his childhood friend Inrit that he lost touch with would somehow grow to be his denya. It seemed he just wanted to keep up that belief despite his connection to Reina, it just seemed stupid to me.

This book was told in a narration style I haven’t heard before and was narrated by Jennifer Gill and Ian Gordon. I have to admit I hated the narration. Ian Gordon is not a good narrator, very monotone and he doesn’t have a pleasing voice at all. Jennifer Gill is not much better to my ears.

The narration on this was strange, at first it was in Stoan’s POV when Stoan was talking to Nina, it was duet narration, then it switched to Reina’s POV, but Ian was still narrating Reina’s thoughts, though Jennifer narrated when Reina actually talked. Very odd indeed, kind of like partly dual narration and partly duet narration.

I've become a fan of all things Detyan. There's something so appealing about these tragically homeless male aliens, doomed to wander the universe in search of their one mate, their denya, who will allow them to live beyond their thirtieth birthdays. Stoan, at only twenty six, functions as a sort of cultural anchor in the Detyan diaspora. It is Stoan who holds on to traditional Detyan values, who sits the death vigil with his fellow unmated Detyans when their time runs out. He also spies for the warlord, Nina, while hoping he will find his childhood friend, Inrit, whom he believes is his denya. Meanwhile, per warlord Nina's orders, he must undertaken a mission with Reina, human female and reluctant fellow spy. With oversight from Stoan, Reina evolves from shrinking violet to quietly courageous heroine. Stoan at first is a tragic hero, and his is the most emotionally moving tale of the Mated to the Alien series. (I really dislike that trite subtitle!) The suspense and unexpected twists in their love story more than make up for the somewhat under-developed spy mission plot. I wish that part of the book had been better resolved, but the HEA ending leaves the door open for future adventures and more Detyans - and I'm totally down with that!

Grief is a Vicious Beast👹

Stoan🐺 is a huge💪 blue Detyen warrior spy🐺🍌🌋🔫🔪 for the ruler of a human colonized world, far in the future. The Detyen🐺 race is dying out, scattered too far apart in the universe🌎. The Detyens🐺 must find a mate👰 before they turn thirty or they die.
Recently it had been found that human women👰 can successfully mate with the Detyens🐺, thus saving their lives. The Detyen warriors🐺🍌🌋🔪🔫 mate with only one woman👰, and they mate for life, no fooling around. When they find their denya( true 💘love)👰, they know immediately, it's like being hit with a brick, the attraction is overwhelming and all consuming. They must mate🐺🍌🌋 with their denya👰 to consummate the lifelong relationship.
This book is more about the adventure of a spying mission that Stoan🐺🍌🌋🔫🔪 and his human mate Reina👰 must complete rather than the 💘love affair between the two people, aliens👾 to each other. Their mating👰 seemed secondary to the story.
Both characters has past problems, Stoan🐺 was an orphan, raised by priests with a Detyen female, Inrit, also an orphan. At some point they are separated before maturity and never see each other again. Stoan🐺🍌🌋🔪🔫 is convinced that if they had stayed together, Inrit would be his mate, so he is searching for her. He doesn't want to accept the obvious fact that Reina💋 is his mate👰.
Reina💋💔, for her part, married👰 too young and just before she could divorce her always absent husband, he is killed in space. She doesn't have closure.
Both characters spend a lot of time worrying about the other. Not a lot of xxx going on in This book.

My favourite time constrained race are back!

Stoan is a spy for Nina, benevolent Dictator and reluctant partner of the recently widowed Reina. Reina, human, should be feeling more at the loss of her husband...shouldn't she? Is the numbness she feels because she didn't love Lex or because he died before she could divorce him or is she just not ready to grieve yet? She definitely should not be having hot dreams about her new partner!

Reina and Stoan are thrown together to carry out an undercover mission for Nina. Whilst Reina has caught the eye of the General, she will be the distraction whilst Stoan attempts to glean what information he can. But neither of them factored in the wild passion that flows between them or the shared dreams! Stoan may be holding out for his childhood friend to be his denya but fate has other plans!

Fast, well placed and crafted story. Desprately wanted to know more of Reina and Haylio backstory, really thought they were going to be outed as ...well not going to say who cos that might come out in another book but just wanted a wee bit more to them, bu that is my only gripe. Great story!

Stoan is a Detyen who lives in Nina city and works for its ruler who is named Nina
Nina wants him to go on a mission and rake a human women with him. Her name is Reina and the moment she walked in to the room he knew she was his Denya. His mate, the one women who could save him from dieing in a few years since his people die at a young age if they don't find thier Denya. The problem is a young kids he promised a girl he knew at a young age that she would be his Denya. Yea he doesn't know we're the girl is or if she is really even his Denya. Now that he is older to be able to even know the truth.
Reina is all mixed up in something that if over her head and she feels an odd connection to and alien she doesn't know. She is still dealing with the death if a husband she was about to divorce and now the Nina is forcing her to go on a dangerous mission. She is not a spy.
Lots of action, great characters and spy drama with bad guys every where lol truly a fun read don't miss this one syfi-tastic.
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

I have enjoyed the stories about this race of people that dies if they don't find their mate by the age of thirty. They didn't realize until recently that they can mate with other races.

In this one, you have a spy and the widow he has learned is his mate. Reina is an accountant and not used to this kind of role but is dragged into it all after her husband's deadly decisions. She is not sure who to trust but does feel a real connection to Stoan.

There is a lot of action and suspense as they work together on a deadly mission. There is also a complication from his past and her past that may endanger the relationship. Stoan may do some bad things but he has a real caring side. He cares deeply for people. Stoan and Reina have good chemistry and I really liked how protective her was of her. He took real risks to keep her safe.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I love this series about the alien race called Detyen, who have a curse on their lifespan, unless they find their Denya - their fated mate, by the time they turn thirty, they will die. This is book three of the series and in this book Stoan is the Detyen, he's a spy and if the work doesn't kill him then he's on borrowed time unless he finds his mate. Reina is and she's almost lost everything at the hands of a warlord. She gets pulls into Stoan's dangerous world of spying, where the flame of desire sparks between them, but after losing her husband she's not sure she's ready for romance and Stoan seems determined to stay away from her, as he made a promise to a childhood friend. Will Stoan step into the future with Reina his true Denya or not? I

Stoan

This is the second book in the series that I have read. I really enjoyed both of the stories. This one involves one of the minor characters from an earlier at. Reina, the widow of Lex, another human spacecraft pilot, and Stoan, a spy, are coerced into a secret mission by the commander of the station. Stoan has only one week to complete the mission before he does from the "curse" of his race, which causes the death of an individual at the age of 30 if he does not find his mate before this time.
This is only one of the story's twists and turns before everything reaches a climatic ending that I am sure you will enjoy.

Definitely added the least amount to the storyline. I found this tale lacking in pretty darn-near everythang.

Does not stack with the first two in the series. Shame, I was looking forward to this character's story.

Fun alien romance with a sweet mate connection. Stoan is a teal alien, who has been tasked with finding what a certain key opens up, but that item happens to be in enemy territory. Human Reina must also go on this quest with Stoan, but she's dealing with some past strife. Stoan knows right away that Reina is his destined mate, but he's not fully on board for it. He still holds out hope that there's a possibility he will find his missing childhood friend and that she will also be a mate for him, so he can choose her. He had a connection with his friend and they both had hopes that when they were older they would be together; plus, he doesn't really want a human as his mate. So, that's a bit disappointing that Stoan kept Reina at a distance, but it's nice how he begins to see more and more how much Reina suits him. Reina and Stoan do have some super sweet moments; loved the shared dreams scenario, but I wish Stoan was a bit more upfront with Reina and himself. There's some good passion and steam going on between Reina and Stoan. Loved the alien scenario and the info about the different planets and such; it can slow the story down some, but does a good job of building the world up. Also, enjoy the bit of danger added to the story. I've read a few of Rudolph's book and have enjoyed all of them, so I'll definitely continue reading her books. Fun alien adventure with a sweet and steamy romance!

The next Detyen to find his special someone amongst the humans is up. Stoan is...not all that pleased to realize what Reina is to him, to be honest. He's a dangerous man with a dangerous job and part of him holds onto the past with a vice grip. Meeting Reina threw a wrench into his perception of what was.

And being a dangerous man with a dangerous job, Stoan has a hard time allowing himself pleasure. He takes on the hardest tasks (both mentally and physically) and he pushes himself. Heading into a rival warlord's territory at the behest of his warlord with his denya in tow isn't ideal.

As for Reina, she's grieving her husband's death. Not because he's dead, but because they never had a chance to find closure between them. He got himself into something much bigger than him and died for it and she's left picking up the pieces. Stoan and his surliness is sort of an added aggravation she didn't need.

But she dealt with him and the training he put her through and infiltrating a warlord's stronghold and somehow ended up with a happy ending. Because Stoan isn't all grump and business, he's also an alien who loves with all this heart once he allows himself to.

What can I say? I like these aliens and their not-so-fun curse and I'm enjoying watching them fall one by one.

I absolutely love this series about the Detyen warriors. As a Detyen nears his 30th birthday, he must find his Denya (mate) or he will die. There is an option to become soulless, extending their lives in a sort of emotionless existence where they carry out assignments for the Legion until they are “retired” (disposed of). This one has a different twist because Stoan was an orphan who meets the female he believes will become his mate. They are separated and he continues now to search for her, regardless of the fact that he has just found his true Denya when he was assigned a spy mission with Reina.

Reina’s problem is that, even though she was divorcing her now deceased husband, she is not sure she should be feeling such attraction to someone else after just losing her husband. Since Stoan seems determined to stay away from her, they are not yet giving in to acceptance of each other as Fate has decreed. Neither of them realized that an uncontrollable passion would arise as their bond grew stronger. How long will they continue to try to resist?

There is plenty of danger and suspense as the two of them carry out their deadly mission. But Stoan is protective of Reina no matter what the risk to him. And they have strong feelings that will soon need to be acknowledged!

Reina and Stoan have denial from the word “go”. They were both put on a mission about a key. He knew from before meeting her Reina was his Denya. They are on a mission but there is a lot of denial. Vivid dreams about being with each other and they are still refusing to acknowledge that they are soulmates. So it’s not as action packed as the other ones were in the series. I don’t know even though some of the other box had their own bag is going on, they were able to come together. Literally and figuratively and make a HEa. This one not so sure. My perspective my perception maybe someone else has a different one. It’s still a good read. For me it just dragged a little bit because of her side of the fence of denial versus his side of the fence of denial. How about it maybe I’m wrong.

This is the third book in the series where the alien males only have until their 30th birthday to find their fated mate or they die (no stress). This story is about Stoan and Reina who he finds is his fated mate but Stoan tries to deny the bond because he thought he had already seen the female destined to be his who he continues to search for (even though he has this undeniable bond forming with Reina who he is on this mission with). Reina also tries to deny the bond because she had just lost her husband. The book is filled with lots of action and romance even though they fight it for a while there is a HEA for them at the end of the book. A great alien romance that keep you turning page after page.

Detyen Warriors have to find their Denya (mate) before their 30th birthdays. They can chose to have an emotionless soulless existence where they do the most difficult assignments until they are disposed of. He believes that he's already meat his mate but they become separated and he now must seek her out. Reina's has a problem that divorcing her deceased husband she shouldn't be feeling attracted to someone else. Now Stoan has to work with a woman to find where a key goes that was found. Reina is forced to work with him and draws the attention of a warlord that destroyed most of her family. Stoan knows that Reina is his Denya but fights it. This is such an emotional journey that both must face and learn to trust in each other. This is a fantastic series. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Stoan and Reina are fated mates, but they both have long term relationships from their past that they are still coping with. It's Reina's previous relationship that puts her in a situation where she owes a favor to the leader of that portion of the planet. Stoan is meant to accompany her on the mission, but he tries to distance himself from the truth that Reina is his denya due to a promise he once made to the person he thought would be his denya.

One of these relationships appears and complicates the mission, as well as the feelings of Reina and Stoan. Has Reina made a friend, or has she allied herself with someone nefarious? And is Stoan helping an old friend, or is he being led into a trap?

Reina's emotional journey at the beginning of the book was particularly well written!

Stoan and Reina’s story is very good. Stoan fought his feelings from the first moment and gave it a valiant effort but there was no fighting nature. This is my third book in this series and I have enjoyed each one. The age limit is a new thing for aliens that I have read. I feel sorry for those who do not find their denya in time. The action in this book is stunning and a little funny, I was wondering as I started reading if Reina would get some training. Just as I thought it Stoan sends her to get some. With an old friend coming on the scene it makes it that much more complex. I was really happy with this book and would recommend it to all.

This is a really good series and this installment is pretty interesting. Stoan is a Detyen with a few years left before he turns thirty and is not really looking to find his Denya/mate. Reina is recovering from the loss of her husband even though she didn’t really love him and she and her brother are still recuperating from their physical wounds left by Droscus’ men. They are called upon to find an item of interest to Nina, the ruler of their city. They get off to a slow start and there is more action than sex (which is okay) and some intrigue surrounding this childhood friend. I’m looking forward to reading the next in this series.

In different ways both Stoan and Reina are struggling to move forward. Commander Nina has given them a mission she needs done, and on this Alien world it is do as the Commander wants, or really wish you had. Reina is grieving, in her own way, the recent death (during the previous story) of her husband Lex, and Stoan is holding true to vows he made to a girl he hasn’t seen or heard from in over 6 years, but whether or not she lives, he doesn’t want to be the kind of warrior who gives up on her, or breaks his vow.

Stoan gives us some interesting insights into the Detyen, who are in these stories, and the Detyen Legion stories, adding extra depth to his character, and extra interest in the story.

I was gifted with a copy of this story, and chose to post a review.

The way this is written you feel for these alien warriors. Being Blue adds to the sweetness. How can you not like anything that is that big and Blue? I fell in love with the characters of this book. The way Kate and Starr write these aliens you get a feel for not only the present but the past too. It is intriguing to me how they have to find that one person throughout the whole of the universe. I credit the authors for this. It has a great mix of chemistry between the characters and does not fall short in the HOTTNESS factor either. Good addition to this series.

I really love this series. I especially like that each characters book is a standalone so you can dip in and out of it, I've read quite a few of the books but certainly not them all, and not in order.
This book didn't disappoint, it has a enjoyable storyline which draw me in, with great characters, both of which were briefly met in a previous book. It was well written, light and easy to read, a good length, with a little bit of light suspense. What's not to love if you like these kind of books.

I felt like there were 2 stories as well as 2 Reinas in this book. The spy adventure story was superb, but the angsty "he/she is my mate but I don't want them to be" got a little old. Likewise with Reina who was not so very likeable in the beginning in regards to how rude she was to Stoan, but then suddenly she was, right about when she decided that the connection they felt was real for a reason. Once they accepted each other, the book took off and became quite entertaining.

I received a free copy of Stoan, but that did not affect my review.

"Stoan" by Kate Rudolph is a decent installment in the series. The story follows the established formula of the series, and while it's engaging, it doesn't offer any significant deviations or surprises. The characters are likable, but the plot may feel somewhat predictable to readers who have followed the series closely. If you're a fan of the series and enjoy the familiar elements it presents, "Stoan" is a worthwhile read. However, if you're looking for fresh and innovative storytelling, this book may not fully meet those expectations.

It’s taken me a few years to get to this one, mostly because I found the beginning a little off putting. He was overjoyed about humans being denya material, but for his own he thinks she’s second rate.... that pissed me off a lot. But I forced my way past that and finished it and, while it won’t be my favorite in the series, I fully enjoyed it. Once Sloan got his head out his neither regions he was a sweetheart, and I loved that there was no horrid misunderstanding when things heated up.

Third book in the series. This one is filled with spying and mystery. So definitely plenty of adventure. Reina may be a new widow but when your husband spent more time away than home the pain and heartache just aren’t there. Stoan always believed his best friend would be the one for him. But after years of her being missing he no longer believes he will find her. But he didn’t expect Reina. She will change his life and maybe his heart.

This is another great story focussing on the Detyen price...or gift as it ends up ;) So much angst, resistance, need for trust, suspense and of course, sizzling chemistry in this story as Stoan doesn't want Reina to be is Denya and Reina doesn't believe she should be so drawn to him on the heels of her divorce plans. Their romance unfolded at a great pace and I enjoyed the emotions surrounding the pair. Good fun!

Another good story in the Mated series about Deyton warriors and their fated mates. I found the 2 main characters entertaining as both felt that the other could not be their mate. Add in a bit of suspense, denial, danger and secrets from the past and you get a good story with some sexy scenes. I laughed a few times too. It was fun to watch Stoan and Reina interact and get closer as they both gave in to their feeling while still survive the craziness their lives were at this time.
