I'm a massive Kaz Cooke fan and read and re-read her pregnancy and baby books when I was going through these stages. Now my babies are growing up, it's nice to have a Kaz Cooke book that will help my young girl as she matures. This is a really informative, fun book that covers an array of subjects and is written in a tone that young girls will enjoy. There are a few movies and books recommended for this age group that I'm not so sure are suitable but these things are always subjective. I'm so glad there is finally a Kaz Cooke book out there for this age group that will keep the young reader engaged and open up some great discussions. I really, really hope that Kaz will do one for boys in this age group as well.

Kaz Cooke is doing a great public service in writing her funny, reassuring and very informative books on girls' and women's health. Her Up The Duff was the only pregnancy book I managed to read from cover-to-cover, and she acted like a calm and awesome best friend who can reassure, inform and uplift all at the same time.

And for girls of the next generation(s), Kaz morphs into the cool Auntie. Girl Stuff 8-12 focusses on both physical and emotional wellbeing. It's not just about periods and puberty (more on that in the big-sister book, the original Girl Stuff aimed at teens); it's actually mainly about how to maintain healthy self-esteem, and how to handle relationship issues including friendships, bullying, and identifying and seeking help for physical and emotional abuse/violence. These topics are really spot-on for this age group, as my own girls have experienced similar happenings. The overall message is to be yourself, stay positive, and you're not alone - find trusted friends and adults to help you. The book includes handy lists of websites, phone hotlines and other resources.

Good and informative book for pre and early teens. Leans more towards Australian themes/help (as the author is Aussie), but has lots of great advice and is written in a way that makes it funny and interesting, rather than weird and daunting. My eldest has read it so far and her younger sister will too.

Kaz Cooke has a humorous and entertaining command of the English language to convey serious and key information about what to expect from puberty and “growing up” to appropriate aged readers. A key factor in today’s modern world when some kids “think they know better than adults” and they just don’t want to hear about “grown up stuff” from mum or dad. Thankfully, this book covers those topics and leaves room for the reader to reach out to an appropriate adult if they have more questions.

This book covers all the pre- teen puberty years topics including- body changes, periods, friendships and bullies, body confidence, hair growth and pimples etc I particularly like that book is a not too “fluffy” and is a honest account of puberty. While Cooke uses Humour, she also gets to the point quickly but uses humour to lift the mood. The book also gives the reader a list of resources- books, movies, websites and helplines they can look into if they feel they need to learn more on the topics or would like to talk to someone about it

Another gem of a book in the series (I’ve previously read “Up the Duff”). I read this book hoping it would be an appropriate tool for my soon to be 8 year old daughter to teach her all about puberty in her pre-teen years. Cooke has absolutely nailed my expectations! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read before giving to my near 9 year old ASD daughter. For an ASD kid, there are somethings I am not keen on in the book, and a few parts I wish were skipped over just for her. But all in all it is a good book and for those that can read on their own and in the right age group this is a pretty good guide. Though I do advise parents to read before giving it to them, so they know what kind of questions may come up, and how the book answers as well so as you don't give confusing information.

I read this before I give this to my preteen. The right amount of content on sex, periods and body changes for that age. Also covers friends, bullies, exercise, eating and moods. An amusing read with lots of humour to break up the loads of information. Now to pass it on to the preteen.

I don't usually write reviews for this sort of thing, but personally, I found that the book had nowhere near as much info about sex and puberty. The Body positivity in this book is really gorgeous and helpful, but get the main book for your pre-teens. It's better for them to be aware of sex than to shelter them.

This book is so educational and lovely! Gives me all I need to know about my daughter, even though she already graduated 13 years ago. LOL! She's still my little princess. Such a go-to family book for reading night.

Bought this for my daughters and thought I should read it first, the content is great however in the introduction / early pages of the book has a whole page on trans kids and about boys feeling like girls and girls feeling like boys.
Not a book I’ll be giving to my 9 year old daughter.
Ever.

I can’t believe my little miss is 10. This book has been so good to read together with her. It’s helping answering so many questions that I wouldn’t have had a clue how to answer.

Great book for tween girls. Gives them enough info but not too much.
As always Kaz writes in such a great way that makes you feel that you are having a conversation with her.
