When the chips are down and the stakes are high, winning takes three of a kind
Dr. Alyson Jefferies treats everyone who comes through the doors of her medical clinic, regardless of species or social standing. The corporations who run the Drift don’t approve of her open-door policy, but Alyson is determined to fight for her patients, no matter what the cost.
Cyborg brothers, Dirk, Blade, and Lance Trello were designed for battle, but the Resource Wars ended before they drew their first breath. Warriors without a cause, they drift from place to place, looking for their purpose and a reason to settle down.
When corporate secrets and hidden agendas put Alyson’s life in peril, the three hot-blooded brothers know they’ve found a cause worth fighting for. They are going to protect their defiant doctor—while trying to convince her that sometimes the best things in life come in threes.
Susan lives out on the Canadian west coast surrounded by open water, dear family and good friends. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidentally swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef. If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too damned short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.
Writing is her joy, her escape from reality and the only way she knows of to quiet the nagging harridan of a muse the universe assigned to her.

This was... Well, it wasn't terrible. I feel like that's my go-to statement about a lot of these contemporary romances we read as part of this book group, but really, it wasn't the worst thing I've read. (This shouldn't count as much, since I have read some GARBAHGE.) Overall, it had some fun, the sex wasn't too bad, and I laughed out loud once. So overall, not bad.
My favorite part of this story was the backdrop. The opening set a fascinating stage that hinted at sci-fi/cyberpunk excitement, which I am a total sucker for.
My least favorite part of this story was that that wasn't explored AT ALL.
This is the fourth book in this series, and our group, like the mad geniuses we are, decided to start at number four. We missed vast swaths of exposition and explanations, but honestly, I kind of enjoyed the confusion. There was a sort of joyful freedom in the sheer lack of context, which is the exact reason I like to read Prince Valiant comics once every few months. (Why is there a shipwreck? Where did these leopards come from? WHO KNOWS!)
I didn't much enjoy the heroes' overflowing machismo. They were patronizing, controlling, and constantly mansplaining to the heroine. The heroine was a total pushover in all scenes except for one. The romance was forced; the story was constantly 'telling' instead of 'showing' when it came to describing how the characters felt.
So, in sum, I finished this book with a resounding 'Eehh...' but was none the worse for wear.
Cyborgs, nefarious plots, one driven doctor, and a whole lot of loving. You know, once the brothers break through Alyson's reservations and show her guarded heart three is better than one. Oh yeaaaaaaah.
I'm not even talking relationship-wise, in this case (although the three of them definitely work for the doc!). The three brothers are gung-ho about keeping Alyson safe when someone looks to be targeting her due to her work. Uncovering the secrets of where the cyborgs came from and what was done to them is NOT a job for the weak willed. She has someone creeping into her lab leaving her cryptic messages and everyone known the corporations are NOT going to be pleased when they figure out what she's been dabbling in.
So cyborg batch-brothers who were born to be bodyguards for high profile targets are pretty awesome. Plus, you know, they rock Alyson's world BIG TIME. Sure, their social skills might be a little rusty upon occasion, but they figure things out. Eventually.
Steamy kisses, a driven doc, three cyborgs who want to make things work, and a creeper skulking around the station. And by creeper, I mean assassin. Yeah. These cyborgs like to keep things interesting for themselves while keeping their special someone safe. GOOD STUFF!
What the heck?! The story was an okay read and I was waffling between 2-3 stars because the plot holes and then comes the final chapter. Actually, the lack of a final chapter. Being chased by an assassin and all the build up to stay safe, etc. then suddenly—there’s the epilogue. The assassin’s handler is dead and the threat is technically over, but how/what happened???? How did they escape? Was the assassin caught before he got to their ship? Did their friends apprehend him? Did the triplets catch him? I have questions…
The heat is on from the very first page with this adventurous story. I love how the characters have put their lives on hold to find an elusive answer, only to find that the danger is amping up. Perfect proof that there is never a perfect time for anything. But the danger brought them closer together m several questions are answered, they are reunited with friends and family, and they find their HEA. Whew! It was a fast-paced read packed full of action, danger, humor, and love that I couldn’t resist reading straight through to the end. You know, everything I’ve come to expect from this talented author. I can’t wait to see what she brings my way next!
I actually thought my kindle book was missing a chapter. The big lead-up/danger storyline that the book working towards was totally skipped over. It went straight from we might die tomorrow to the epilogue. All resolving action happened off the page. The bad guys were in custody and the handler was dead with NOT ONE WORD on how the heck that happened. I even downloaded the Kindle Cloud version and it was the same. Not sure what happened as I’ve never encounters this in any of Susan Hayes’ books before.
With the this being the fourth book in The Drift series, things are heating up in The Drift. Susan has outdone herself with this one. I am so glad the Doc got a HEA with not one, not two but three hot as hell cyborgs. Danger, secrets unravelling, assassins, action and a passion that melts any woman's pant... oops knees, Susan draws us further and further into a universe where rules are meant to be broken and hearts find a love of a lifetime. Now to patiently await the next one in the series.
Susan Hayes such a fab talented storyteller. she just re affirms my love for erotic sci fi. She gives some of all sassy and hot, hunky and over protective. Not one whimpy female alas I'm a damsel in distress please save me. Strong intelligent albeit stubborn mixed in with a lot of heart.
I've loved all her heroines and Aly just adds to the list. A stubborn Dr. in the drift with a secret to fix and a wrong to right. She's got big shoulders and used to "not" taking care of herself, Aly will put on her big girl panties and march on.
Susan's cyborgs make you with you can make one of your own, whew! They may not be the type you could bring home to mama. (really they are) But all three males bring something different and all three are focused on one thing. Dr. Jefferies.
A mix of action and adventure, passion and love yummie hot scenes and baddie. Its always fun to meet previous characters I love that part. Like oohh I remember. I read this great read and reviewed voluntarily. enjoy
Very good story. Her Cyborgs weren't too smart. I figured out that Ward was a decoy before they did. Professional Assassins would never have let themselves come in so openly and her guys should have figured that out. Plus they should have tacked onto the fact that the female with Ward could have Assassin training also. I figured it out long before they did. Too many clues for them to ignore. But you did write the story for the Average Minded Readers, so it is understandable that you didn't take in the way someone who had lived like them , (even if they hadn't been Cyborgs, ) such as Phedra had to do, wouldn't have made that kind of mistake. But you being a normal writer personage , it is understandable you would make that kind of a goof up. Next time think about the type of characters you write about. But it was a good story for the Normal Minded. TomVictory. PS: At least you didn't make that Very Dumb Mistake of saying (Ground), instead of (Floor, Rug, or Carpet). I will never understand that kind of Writer's Stupidity.
Average romance, typical of the series. I keep hoping for better - because I really, really want some awesome sci-fi cyber love and Liana Brooks can't write them fast enough for me. Quality takes time. Ms. Hayes is better at kicking them out.
Some funny moments. The men (triples via test tube/cloning) are all dominating, but that is okay because they are body guards (actually, it edged into aggravating). The doctor constantly is trying to find the balance between her men. I really would have like to see her take them home to meet her family.
The story feels incomplete - mostly erotica relationship work for multiple partners. The sci-fi is there, begging for more.
A okay read if you are looking for female with three male romance. Was easy to put down at night for sleeping.
I am a little short on time. I love it! You never know what is going to happen next! The good doctor is always trying to help someone & the three guys are trying to keep her safe. Someone is trying to keep her from finding out what is going on & spilling it to the rest of the universe, while she is determined to help her friends & do what she can to right the wrongs that had been done to them. The guys know she is the one for them but for that to work they have to keep her alive, & figure out who wants to kill her & is sneaking around the space center sabotaging her research & leaving her warnings in her office before it's too late. I couldn't put it down, I loved wondering where & when the next clue would show up!
Alyson is the doctor on this station. She's known for treating everyone, no matter what they can afford. She's also willing to treat cyborgs AND treat them like they're people not machines.
The cyborg triplets Blade, Lance, and Dirk first meet her when they're assigned protective duty in her clinic when Dash is injured.
Alyson is investigating an infertility issue in female cyborgs and this is a discovery that the corporations who made the cyborgs want to block.
This puts her at risk, which puts stress on her new relationship with Blade, Lance, and Dirk.
And now a new danger for cyborgs: a spoken override code that can knock out cyborgs with no warning.
A red origami pyramid warns Dr. Allyson Jeffries she’s in danger. Working on a cure for Cyborg sterility Allyson knew the Corporations wouldn’t like it but she didn’t expect it to make her a target. Blade, Dirk and Lance have admired Allyson from afar but as soon as they hear she needs protection they move right in - literally. And they don’t plan on ever moving out because she is theirs.
This was an unexpected fun read. Ménage is usually all sex little plot, this was the opposite. Very enjoyable with a decent plot. I hadn’t read the previous three books in the series but it still worked as a stand alone.
Having said what I feel about menage (I'm not against them, I just think they will need way too much work in the long run) relationships, it's should be no surprise then that the whole 3 to 1 would be twice as hard to make work, and that's the gift SH has, she show's that, with just a little bit of drama she makes the whole thing that much more believable. The suspense and background story is as always vivid and wonderfully colorful, as is the relationship. I love how individual each man is, and how Alyson manages do give each of the men exactly what they need, especially her squishy!!
Alyson, Dirk,Blade and Lance this is the story is the one I've been waiting for since we met the good doctor! Alyson a hard working doctor who truly puts others before herself. Triplet cyborgs built for protection who absolutely adore Alyson and will do anything to protect her. They secrets of the corporations are even more evil than they first thought. And now that Alyson has been successful they want her dead. Once again danger intrigue and soul binding passionate love are the order for the day. I'll definitely re more by this author.💖💖
If you've been keeping up with the series you know that the three brothers have been circling the good doctor for a while and in this book they finally make their move. Good story and super hot - as to be expected with 3 guys at your beck and call!
Can't wait for the next book to find out more of the mysteries of The Drift!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Love this series! It has everything, unbelievable suspense, mayhem, chaos, surprises, and sexy characters. Three hot sexy men, a beautiful doctor, her friends and coworkers, a space station, a hospital, and lots of unpredictable adventures. Falling for three men at once, working on secret experiments to save cyborgs, a terrifying conspiracy and betrayal to all cyborgs and their love ones, while staying one step ahead of an assassin bent on killing her and hers!
The book was fine, but any time the brothers had problems their friends swooped in to help. Also, WHAT WAS UP WITH THE END??? One second they are gearing up to fight for their lives then BOOM not only is everything over and done with but YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HOW!! It’s like when you used to have to set a VCR and it would cut off the last 10 minutes of the show and then everyone was talking about the ending the next day and you are like WHAT THE FRAXX EVEN HAPPENED??

I started this book thinking only a few pages ,shall we say WRONG a very early morning or late night. I just could not put it down I had to know what would happen next. A very well written book that draws you in from the first page and will not let you go until the end. I received a free copy and because I liked it that much I also bought I hope there is going to be another book to this series.
Not the best RH I’ve read but not the worst either. It could use another run through by an editor which drops the stars I gave. I do like that it’s part of a series but a stand alone at the same time. Those are my fave series’ to read. I won’t go back to the beginning but I think I want the next...
This is a decent story of a strong woman and the cyborgs who are strongly attracted to her. She is resistant due to past baggage and the cyborgs are just learning how to treat a woman. Problems to ensure but when there is danger is when the cyborgs show what they are made of. Good read.
It was great… right up until the end where it took a sharp left-turn into Anticlimactic territory. It was too easy and certain facts that turned up after the fact seemed shoehorned rather than natural explanations to what happened. A disappointing end to an otherwise interesting story in a series.
Alyson was a doctor looking into finding a reversal cure for female cyborgs. Dirk, Lance and Blade were triplet cyborg brothers who knew as soon eas had seen Alyson that she was their one but how to convince her. When danger stalks het can her three protectors keep her safe? Readers should enjoy this book which I thoroughly recommend.
I will be so completely honest, I have no idea how anyone could like this book.
It wasn't even that it was bad, but it felt so dull and lackluster. There was no depth to these characters, no true excitement. This book honestly felt like the equivalent of talking about the weather.
It was free at least, but damn, I am not a fan of this series so far.
I enjoyed book 4 quite a lot. I found the characters to have depth and the story itself held my interest from page one until the end. It also had the right amount of "hotness" too!!! I can't wait for book 5 to come out!!
This is an amazing series. There is so much detail you almost believe it is true. The erotica is scorching hot 🔥. Three men and one incredible woman. Sigh. This book has me ordering the next in the series before even finishing with this one.💞
This was so erotically charged, and yet it was well written in a sci-fi romance setting! Dirk, Lance and Blade are cyborg brothers, and they're all falling for Dr. Alyson Jeffries. This was fun, sexy, and well written. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Ok I have always liked the Doc. She cares about her patients and her new friends. Dirk is grumpy and bossy. Lance is fun. Blade is serious with sweet thrown in. They argue and fight. They run for their lives. Love it.
This is a fun romance, and also a continuation of the series. It stands alone, but I encourage you to read the others, because the interwoven story line is really well done, and it has me hooked to see how it continues to evolve and grow. I love the differences in the various characters, and I truly enjoyed watching the heroes court and win the heroine’s love!
