There are certain truths evident in the new state of the world: humans are less than nothing, supernatural beings reign supreme... and Elias Ivers always gets what he wants. When he finds out his prized human slave has been snatched away from him by Khaz, a low class whore, and made a vampire, he doesn't care what he has to destroy to claim Noah as his own. If that includes the budding feelings between Khaz and Noah, so be it. The fight for the fledgling is fierce and hot, but in this game of sex, pain and intrigue, can anyone other than Elias truly be a winner?
###
Now that supernatural beings have seized control of the world, life has become a struggle for the humans who once held power. Witches, vampires, and werewolves determine the fate of every single human, but their moral compasses have long since been shattered. Rebels, free humans, and slaves all share dreams of hope, mercy, love, and more. But with their fate so uncertain, survival isn't enough... and they may have to sacrifice what is nearest and dearest to them if they want to change their lives.
Bought, Ravel, and Recoil feature different characters whose lives begin to come together in Owned and Temper.
*Please note that the Fate of the Fallen (previously Ripples in the Status Quo) world has little place for humanity, and as a result, content in these works may contain graphic scenes of depravity, cruelty, and violence -- sexual or otherwise -- that could be offensive and potentially triggering to some readers.*
R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to be funny, and she mercilessly inflicts her terrible sense of humor upon anyone who speaks to her. She'd love it if you'd say hello!
Dark and salacious, Owned is the fourth book in R. Phoenix’s Fate of the Fallen series. This series just gets more intense with every episode, and I love how the stories are intertwining. Ms. Phoenix is crafting the plot so beautifully I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I’ve been enjoying this one in audio because the narrator is fantastic. No one can bring these characters to life like Jack Noble, he creates such a shiver-worthy atmosphere it elevates everything to a whole nother level.
Bring on Temper, I’m ready!
an audiobook copy of Owned was provided by the author for my review
Well, that broke my heart... Elias is one of the best villains ever. My heart broke for both Noah and Khaz. I love this series and those characters so much!!
OMFG this series is sooooo good. It takes you to depths you didn't know existed and sends you spiraling down to the depths of humanity. And then you just beg for more.
This story was the continuation of Khaz and Noah, but brought in characters from previous books. It's all starting to weave together to bring the reader (or listener) to a place of torment.
I love how much I feel pulled into the story. Jack Noble is flawless as the performer of this dark tale and I can't imagine hearing it through anyone else's deep, delicious voice.
adventurous challenging dark emotional sad tense medium-paced Plot- or character-driven? A mix Loveable characters? Yes 4.5
Okay, we start to dive deep into the multi-pov plot This one was definitely more on the dark, agonizing cruel side. I felt so hard for the Characters. I am still desperate to try to compare it to something, maybe Game of Thrones? I love how we have so many different characters with their own goals and secrets. You can't be sure how the tables will turn.
We get in Owned a lot more of Jace& Elias as well as Khaz and Noah ... and have to witness once again how cruelty takes place in the Fate of the Fallen.
Author Info: Dark. Sexual violence, dubcon/blackmail, sire/childe relationship. The characters from Bought, Ravel, and Recoil start to come together. -- Tags, if not stated otherwise, are based on my personal impression/opinion and don’t have a 100% reliability. If you don’t know if a book might be something for you: Read reviews, ask questions and be a responsible adult. __ Fate of the Fallen Full 7book Series: IF you want to read a dark fantasy saga-ish dystopian world which follows a multi POV, multiple pairings (which might not all get an hea!!). It's totally worth to dive into the World of "Fate of the Fallen". The whole Series caught me by surprise. I couldn't stop listening. I was so so so hooked! I was so enamored with the whole concept, the alliances, the connections between the different MCs and how the whole Main Plot turned out in the end. There were bittersweet, melancholic, agonizing moments and I suffered a bit with my favorites. NGL this Saga can be disturbing, traumatizing and cause distress. This is a dark dystopian world, with almost no humanity left. Bad things happened and bad things will happen, and our "heroes", "anti-heroes" and "villains" won't survive unscathed. I try to find a good comparison, but I'm literally trying to write a decent review for the full 7book series since I finished it and fail. I know that it's a 100% re-read in the foreseeable future, until then I'm still reading the spin-offs.
This is by far my favorite part of this series. I felt like the story finally wrapped back around and brought the first book into a little bit more light and gave it a bit more foundation. Although the story between the two main men was confusing for a good portion of the story, I also understand that the author was trying to keep part of it a secret, I just didn't really care for the way it was done exactly.
The writer has grown by leaps and bounds from the first story to this one so I have to say that is a huge improvement, not that she wasn't good at first, but I found the story to be much more captivating and interesting than the previous ones.
I can't wait to find out where this series goes next.
I received a free copy of this book to read for Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.
This was the worst of the books to read, gut wrenching but because of that it's so good.
How sweet Noah is when he is new, innocent and so dependant on the now tormented Khaz, which now have the issue of paying for his childe.
And of course it doesn't come ease. When learning Elias was the original buyer of Noah, and making a deal. Things could only get worse. The sweetness of Noah literally getting ripped out of him and his memories restored at the worst moment. I knew this would come and it didn't make it easier to read, it was well written and you could feel the anguish and fear.
And in all of this, you get to see how damaged Jace have become in the weeks he had been under the care of Elias. So desperate to feel in control of something. At the same time as he hates Elias for what he does, he becomes jealous and possessive when he shows care to others.
This story is dark af. I enjoyed this story but also kind of loathed it at the same time..it was brutal. I am giving this book 5 stars because I went in knowing it was dark af and I am not going to take a star away because I did not get a sweet HEA. This story was well written and captivating. I could not put it down.. I literally read it on my phone while at work.. definitely not the best idea for my employment lol. But this book was good and also heart wrenching. It actually hurt my heart. I liked the dynamic of Khaz and Noah as sire/childe. It was sweet and it was nice to see that connection.
The one character that I found to be the most interesting in this book, and really, in this whole series is Jace. He wasn't dissatisfied with the Status Quo, but ended up being enslaved by Elias Ivers. In this book, we see that after only 3 weeks of being Elias' slave, he has already started losing himself and being twisted to enjoy cruelty as a mirror to his new master.
Noah and Khaz both have to deal with Khaz's decision to turn Noah in the last book, and that leads to all kinds of conflict.
This story features all 3 sets of MCs from the other books but this is so savage and gut wrenching, Elias and Jace a cycle of abuse that has made Jace dependent on Elias and Khaz trying to deal with the fallout of turning Noah into a vampire! Attacking Ashton on the streets bring him and Reese in for a few pages. This book is harsh and you'll need to be prepared for this its awkward.
I feel like I just went on an emotional roller coaster. Please adhere to the triggers the author mentions because I did have to put the book down a few times because they can be intense. With that said it didn’t take me long to pick the book back up and continue reading, the storyline is getting intense and the book is so well written that I fear losing sleep tonight because I need the next book. Please read the book in the order outline it feeds more into the story.
I immediately loved the characters of Khaz and Noah, and seeing them suffer so much in this book has broken my heart over and over again multiple times, but not for this I enjoyed less the story. I was able to feel the pain Noah and Khaz experienced during the events they lived. The physical and mental abuse that Noah suffered, and the extreme pain Khaz felt knowing he couldn't do nothing to save his beloved "child" and knowing that to have Noah beside him, he will have to fight hard.
Owned is the fourth book in The Fate of the Fallen series by R. Phoenix. It is a unique, dark and captivating world created within this series and the characters pull you in even when they are making you just a tad uncomfortable in thier cruel inhumanity. This book continues the story of Noah and Khaz but interweaves it with previous characters as well. Well written, incredibly creative and uniques... this story continues to suck you in and make you need more.
AUDIBLE This is well done, I liked how we were able to see how the world they live in was structured. Khaz has to help his new child Noah in how to be a vampire, but they both pay the price to Elias for Noah being taken away from him and being turned into a vampire. Also seeing how Jace was becoming sadistic like his Elias.

I was on the edge of my seat reading Owned: A Ripples in the Status Quo Story by R. Phoenix.
I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT READING OWNED
We get to see what happened after the cliffhanger we were left with from Recoil. I must admit I was relieved to find Noah still alive, although still incredibly annoyed with his ungrateful attitude toward Khaz after his memory is restored.
He’s the one who BEGGED Khaz to keep him. Grr
SOMEONE HAD ALREADY PUT IN A BID FOR THE REBELLION SLAVE
Khaz made the choice to turn Noah at the very last possible moment, only to learn that apparently, someone had already put in a bid for the Rebellion slave.
YEAH, WE GET TO SEE THAT SADISTIC BASTARD AGAIN.
Guess who that was? Elias Ivers. Yeah, we get to see that sadistic bastard again. He apparently has done quite the job of breaking Jace down and making him into a good pet, as Elias proves during a meeting with Khaz over the loss of his human slave.
Noah, upon awakening from the change, doesn’t have his memories and turns to Khaz for guidance. He and Khaz grow closer as Sire and child, until an encounter with Elias and Jace makes Noah see things differently causing a rift to form between Khaz and Noah.
THE PLAY FOR POWER WAS SO DELIGHTFULLY FOUGHT
I loved how two couples from different books were thrown into one and the play for power was so delightfully fought.
There was Elias, who is sure he is unstoppable and believes everyone lower than himself. And then there is Khaz, a whore vampire who lets others believe he is complacent and has no real strength.
It makes me wonder what is going to happen in the future when Khaz finally has enough of the crap treatment from others and proves everyone wrong.
Another 5-star rating on this one. There’s a little something for everyone with the love growing between Khaz and Noah and the bond between Elias and Jace getting stronger.
Also the biggest surprise of all was the slight shift in the POV of the story that included a chapter by Jace. It was a HUGE shock to see what happened to the wolf.
Book #4 of the series and I’m learning that, the more books I read of it, the more I love it. This one, so far, has been my favorite. It was great.
It started when Recoil left, which was perfect because I wanted to know what would happen. It had a nice sense of continuity, which wasn’t present between Ravel and Recoil.
Now, I know I said that Khaz and Noah weren’t my favorite characters from the series, but I have to admit that, this time around, I was feeling more attracted to Kahz than before (Noah still wasn’t right for me). His mixed feelings were so nice to read, it was good to see the internal struggle he had. I really loved that part.
This book was hard to read for me because I had a hard time trying to decide who I wanted to get what he wanted. In one side was Elias, so amazingly wicked, the reason I got hooked on the series and who make me smile just to think of how wicked he was. And in the other was Khaz, who I just learn to love and whose feelings were so very sweet, and I wanted him to be happy. It was so difficult for me, which make me loved the book so much more.
I felt the plot on this one was better than the other, it brought more surprises. It was very hard to put it down, so exciting, I even manage to go through the puppy play without too much issues about it and I would read it again if it was part of other book in the series. It finished with a lot of possibilities, and there’s already a book #5 out, so I’ll be going to it as soon as I can.
I Received copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews with a copy provided by the publisher / author for an honest review. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 Love Bytes.)
I’ve really liked my trip through these first four installments in this series. Owned, which is the fourth installment, tied into the end of the third installment like a flipped page, which I was happy to see, because installment three ended quite abruptly.
We are back to the story of Malkahz, or as we know him Kahz, and Noah. They’ve made it through the event at the end of Recoil, and now must face the consequences. Noah was promised to Elias Ivers, the witch we met back in the first installment, who looked forward to owning and subjugating Noah like he has done with Jace.
There is no going back, and as things stand right now, it probably isn’t possible for Elias to own Noah. But that doesn’t mean he can’t get some evil revenge in on both men. Noah doesn’t remember what happened, and Kahz isn’t telling him. What will happen when his memory comes back?
I enjoyed this installment. It continued the story and brought us to another abrupt ending! But obviously there is more to come, and as I stated above, it is due on July 1st, and already up for pre-buy on Amazon!
This book was amazingly and extremely vicious. I loved the last book, but this is definitely my favorite in the series so far. I don’t really know how to review it without giving away too much since the book starts out with a surprise. So, I’ll just say that things get pretty dark for some of the characters in previous books. I imagined it was dark for them already, but their situation just gets worse before it gets better. Elias takes his sadism to an entirely new level in this installment, making an already tricky social situation impossible. I probably couldn’t get more cryptic with this review, but just expect a lot of mind fucks, non-con, and angst. Really, Elias is such an ass, I’m just waiting for him to get a taste of his own medicine. I recommend this book to anyone who likes m/m dark erotica.
Note: This isn’t a standalone. It must be read in order or nothing will make sense.
This is book 4 in the series, to understand this book in my opinion you would be better off reading Bought and Recoil first. That being said all of these books are stand alone story’s.
This story directly involves the characters that are in books 1 & 3 of this series. It wraps up the story line, yet leaves it open for any future additions should that be an option.
The characters are put through some very violent sex scenes, an also aggressive emotional confrontations. I found myself holding my breath often waiting to see what would happen next. I absolutely love Khaz, he is my confused hero. What he lacks in self-confidence and selflessness he makes up for in his devotion to his childe. Through good and really bad he does his best.
In this world were being human puts you at the bottom of the food chain it’s hard to live free let alone have friends. If paranormals really do exist let’s hope we can all just get along.

I love this series and this book was no exception. My heart breaks for Noah as he suffers for his sire and discovers the betrayal by the one he loves and is protecting. At the same time I also feel for Khaz who was only doing what he thought was right to protect the first person that he has felt anything for since the loss of his own sire. The evil Elias gives me shivers as I keep thinking he cannot be more evil and yet he proves me wrong especially with the way he has destroyed poor Jace. This author takes the reader through a gambit of emotions from love, to fear, to anger, to great sadness, and finally to hope. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this thrilling series.
***2016 has been a very unstable year. Not only have I lost favourite role models in droves, I have been into dark places more times than I could count. Yes, I experienced highlights as well but the darkness has had a big impact this year and the only way to keep it at bay was reading, mass reading, back to back books with no stopping and no reviewing. I do apologize to all the writers that I won’t be able to review their books yet but I will get to it. Promise!***
Whoa....this story is about as far from light and fluffy as you can get. No heroes, no HEAs, no sweet words of love-like a bad car accident you just can't look away from, but.....there are moments of sacrifice to spare others pain, doing the wrong thing for the right reason, and not giving in no matter the cost. Take a walk on the dark side.... you just might see the light.
I truly enjoyed this series. It was dark with harsh cruelty, showed the good and bad of these creatures and had elements of love and compassion. I wanted more conclusions with the love battles but I'm greedy that way. I'm hoping for more to the series but was pleased with it all the same
Another great read from R Phoenix.....We have Khaz and Noah and Elias and Jace in this one and Elias one night with Khaz and Noah....I really felt for Noah in this one.....He really doesn't like Khaz at the end of this one and I can't help thinking that this is not gonna be good for them both.....A really great series that just gets darker as it goes along x
R. Phoenix has a way of making me both uncomfortable and intrigued at the same time. These books are dark, but they're also interesting and titillating. Can the depravity of these supernatural characters get any worse? I'm afraid to ask. (And I think I know the answer.)
