Only one thing can keep Ashton safe from the supernatural predators who made the world into their depraved, twisted playground after the Takeover--but it's the one thing that would steal the last remnants of his freedom. At every turn, society confronts Reese and Ashton with the way humans are treated as mere playthings to be used and discarded. When they realize their own desires and pride have no place in the status quo, Ashton and his werewolf lover understand they'll have to engage in the deadly games played by those in charge if they want to make a difference.

But Reese isn't a diplomat, and Ash is only human. Together, they must decide if they're willing to work with the devil they know in what might change everything or rely on their consciences in a world that has no place for kindness or honor... and if they're ready to sacrifice everything along the way.

###

Now that supernatural beings have seized control of the world, life has become a struggle for the humans who once held power. Witches, vampires, and werewolves determine the fate of every single human, but their moral compasses have long since been shattered. Rebels, free humans, and slaves all share dreams of hope, mercy, love, and more. But with their fate so uncertain, survival isn't enough... and they may have to sacrifice what is nearest and dearest to them if they want to change their lives.

Bought, Ravel, and Recoil feature different characters whose lives begin to come together in Owned and Temper.

R. Phoenix

R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to be funny, and she mercilessly inflicts her terrible sense of humor upon anyone who speaks to her. She'd love it if you'd say hello!

I liked the storyline of this book and getting the different POVs. This series has kept me interested. This book is definitely dark but there was a little bit of light that I appreciated. I am ready for the next book to come out!

The multi-pov story continues!!
FotF is most definitely one of the darkest dystopian urban fantasy series I ever read. I was rooting so hard for all of the Characters.

Fate of the Fallen Full 7book Series:
IF you want to read a dark fantasy saga-ish dystopian world which follows a multi POV, multiple pairings (which might not all get an hea!!).
It's totally worth to dive into the World of "Fate of the Fallen".
The whole Series caught me by surprise. I couldn't stop listening. I was so so so hooked! I was so enamored with the whole concept, the alliances, the connections between the different MCs and how the whole Main Plot turned out in the end.
There were bittersweet, melancholic, agonizing moments and I suffered a bit with my favorites. NGL this Saga can be disturbing, traumatizing and cause distress.
This is a dark dystopian world, with almost no humanity left. Bad things happened and bad things will happen, and our "heroes", "anti-heroes" and "villains" won't survive unscathed.
I try to find a good comparison, but I'm literally trying to write a decent review for the full 7book series since I finished it and fail.
I know that it's a 100% re-read in the foreseeable future, until then I'm still reading the spin-offs.

Addictive series

Love the various factions slowly crossing paths being brought into this book together.

Khaz and Noah continue to batter each other. Noah, “he could never hate the man who felt like the other half of his fraying soul.” This, it’s beautiful. Their relationship wasn’t built on trust, their connection, despite the sire bond, exists below Khaz’ manipulation of his gift.

The push and pull between Khaz and Noah comes to a head this time. Their involvement with Ashton and Reese, with Elias manipulating everyone looks to be heading for disaster.

Desi, Callia, make an appearance once again. Still no real idea on whose side they truly fall. Desi in her madness, the glints of sanity and warnings, shouldn’t be ignored.

Jace! Feel for him so much. His mind slowly circling the drain like Desi’s.

MM, dark paranormal.

What can I say? The skill R Phoenix wields as she leads us through the story of humanity’s struggle with the injustices and cruelties of the ‘new’ Status Quo is superb to say the least.

To take the very creatures who now run riot through this world and instil in the reader a loyalty for those of them who regret ever lending a helping hand in its instigation shows a talent that offers us all an insight into the thoughts and longings not only of the Supes but those they have come to need and love. They are not all cruel, they do not all revel in the degradation of others. We can understand what they hoped for then; we can understand what they hope for now.

This series is a dark read, there is no denying that, peopled with beings that it would seem have sold their souls long ago for control and greed and a sense of superiority over not only humans but even their own kind. Take one Elias Ivers, the coldest, most calculating, hated and feared beings in this new regime. Never have I met a character that I loathed so much, and there have been many of them that have drawn a strong negative reaction from me before. His ability to read people, find their weakness and cruelly twist every good - or not so good - intention or feeling to his own ends without one jot of sensitivity paints him as the most hideous of men. There is no chink possible in this armour of loathing he has for the world… or is there?

Refraction offers us insight as never before, allowing us a glimpse into the Ivers’ world, one tiny indicator that the witch does indeed suffer emotions of a nature other than disdain even if the manifestation of these is a perverted attraction and a selfish sense of regret. It is Elias Ivers, and it is dark fantasy, what is to be expected? But it makes him that little bit less godlike, and little more fellable.

This episode is one of the most just and satisfactory episodes to date. Amidst the darkness there can be hope, there can be purpose and action; and there can be forgiveness and acceptance.

It was a fantastic read, and I am very much looking forward to the next instalment. All fingers and toes crossed that it takes me further along the path to the Status Quo’s downfall – there are hints the cracks are forming; but knowing R Phoenix’ twisted plots and her villainous Elder, I will not hold my breath that it will be accomplished quickly nor with ease. I can only hope those I am rooting for can stay the course and survive.

This one was a lot. It's all building up to a climax and I couldn't stop reading.

Elias being as greedy as ever, wanting every play thing that everyone else have along with the power and submission from the world.
Jace broken in to so many pieces there isn't much left of his old him. He blames everyone for how he have ended up, and at the same time he wants to be nowhere else than by Elias's side. Even if he had the chance to leave.

Noah and Ashton finding they have more in common than they would have liked to believe, in the wake of things.

And then the development of Khaz and Noah's relationship, finally seeing something other than torment.

Things are already getting bloody and with Elias now in power, it can only turn in to a blood bath.

Wow!

It would be interesting to find out how/why Khaz has the ability that he does with his touch. That is the one thing about this series that never really gets explained.

Once again, Jace is one of the most interesting and compelling characters in this series for me. He's been completely broken now, and he knows it. It's probably the saddest plot line in the whole saga.

Finally, I can't tell if the Rebellion has any hope of affecting real change, or if it's inevitable that they will be hunted down and crushed.

I think this is the book I’ve been waiting for. So many things are pulled together. We get into the gritty parts of these characters. Noah’s character grows so much in this book and I loved every moment of it.

This one flowed well with a couple chapters from other characters that really made events a little clearer.

This book is amazing, there are parts that will make your heart race and think that things might be alright and others where you feel sorry for the characters and the acceptance they have taken on how messed up their lives end up. I want more and can’t wait for what comes next.

Refraction is the sixth book in The Fate of the Fallen series by R. Phoenix. The story continues the journey through injustice, violence, control, manipulation, cruelty, greed and inhumanity. Yet there is a sense of hope. The characters make you care about their futures. Cant wait for next book. .

This series is amazing. Each book delves further into the world of the fallen, deeper into the intricately woven lives of Reese, Ashton, Khaz, Noah, Jase and Elias.

Absolutely recommended.

I’m so in love with this series. I think every time I finished a book, I feel like was my favorite. It keeps improving with each book. This one was amazing.

It won’t work as a standalone, it has to be read in the correct order to understand the position the character are when the book begin. In this one it was great to see the perfect clash of the main characters stories, previously it only had been separate stories with, mostly just the world they live in, in common, but here the stories get connected and it’s just great to see the characters interact with other people, to imagine how they would react and to wonder how much they are willing to risk to protect their love ones. I just loved it.

It take enough time with each couple, so I guess other reader would enjoy reading about their favorite couple, since both Khaz and Noah, and Reese and Ashton are feature in the book. I’m still missing Elias, but I was happy with the few moments he was on page and even if it wasn’t much, his presence is still an important part of the plot, what an amazing character who doesn’t even need to be in the book that much and yet he manage to alter the events.

What I enjoyed the most in the book was Khaz, after Elias he’s become my favorite character. In this book particularly, because he was very melancholic, it was heartbreaking to see how much he suffer and how hard he try to make things better. I just hated Noah’s attitude, I understand why he felt that way but I couldn’t help to get mad at him.

In terms of plot, this was very good, maybe the best so far, but I have a hard time thinking about the plot of just one book, because I see the series as a whole, but the way the stories were connected was something I really loved. It also had great action moments. Is less violent than other parts of the series. It doesn’t have much romantic moments between the character but the love is there, is so easy to see it in the way every one of them act, it was lovely to see how much they care for each other.

In general, another fantastic book, I can’t get enough of this series.

This was another great book to the series they just keep getting better and better. The story continues with Khatz who gets a phone call to look after two humans (Aston and his friend) when he realizes who the caller is, Reese sounding desperate. Khatz and his mate Noah agree and set off to Reese's house. Reese sounded he had something important to do. After what happened to Ashton recently from being raped by 5 men he didn't want him being alone. Noah's sympathetic for a happened to Ashton. This weaves a story involving them all again and was hard to put down.. This is a book and series which is better read after the previous book just so you know who the characters are and how they fit in to the story.
