I am enjoying it, because the story's concept is interesting and the magic system is cool. The pacing has some issues and I am having a hard time connecting with the characters, but I really want to know what happens, so it's a win for me 😀👍

Successor's Promise fell short for me, especially compared to the first book in the series. For some reason, I feel more disconnected with the characters in each book than the one before, which is not a very good sign. I think this lack of connection with the characters is ultimately the reason I had to push to finish the book.
For the romance, I actually expected a stronger, more emotional experience as Rielle and Tyen finally came together, but honestly, it just felt dry. And the entire plot with trying to bring Valla to a human form, for some reason, just did not work for me.
I really wanted to love this like I did the first one, but unfortunately that just wasn't meant to be.

Oh wow. Ich weiß gar nicht so genau wo ich anfangen soll.
Trudi Canavan hat in dieser Trilogie ein so komplexes und gut durchdachtes Universum erschaffen, dass mir ein wenig die Worte fehlen. Auch ihre Charaktere sind mit so viel Fingerspitzengefühl ausgearbeitet und die Nachrichten zwischen den Zeilen so gelungen, dass es mich nur staunend zurücklässt.
Allerdings hat mir ein bisschen der letzte Kick gefehlt. Kurz vor Schluss wurde es zwar nochmal super dramatisch und es gab krasse Wendungen, aber dann löste es sich alles mit einer viel zu simplen Lösung auf und die Magie verpuffte für mich etwas.
Aber gegen noch einen Band hätte ich auch absolut nichts einzuwenden.... :D

I'm not sure how I feel about this series to be honest. It's been a hot minute since I read the previous two books so it took a little time to get back into the world(s). One of my issues is that the pacing feels off. Between each of the books there's a five years gap, and about a year is spent in the books. At least the third one, I don't remember the time span in each of the other two books. I'm also not too hot about the plot. It's been dragged a lot through these books and I had hoped this would be the last book but nope. There will be a fourth book. I'm honestly not sure if I will pick that one up once it comes. I've sort of just read the book for Tyen and Vella and now we probably won't see much of her...

El libro se me ha hecho muy largo .
La saga en general está bien . La historia es entretenida y original y los personajes de Tyen y Rielle me han gustado mucho . Pero opino que juntos no tienen nada de química .
Así como creo que este último libro es demasiado largo y un poco enrevesado.
También en general creo que le podría haber sacado mucho más jugo al personaje de el Valhan

Notablemente mejor que los anteriores libros de esta saga. La verdad es que este me gustó bastante, aunque no tanto como la saga de La era de los cinco dioses, que es la que más me gustó de la autora con diferencia.
Un final bien intenso y mejor solucionado, aunque sigo pensando que la descripción de batallas se le dan fatal a la autora (que encima, pone bastantes en sus libros), aún así, como caso excepcional en ella, la batalla final tiene algunos momentos bastante impresionantes, como la trampa borrada de la memoria... uf!. La carne de gallina. Y algunos otros momentos muy buenos.
En general, el mejor libro de la saga y un libro que está bastante bien en sí mismo. GL (Autor. Trudi Canavan)

Trudi Canavan continues on a high note because this book was awesome as hell and while I'm somewhat disappointed that she couldn't leave it as a trilogy, I'm also kind of glad that there's something more to wait for in Tyen's and Rielle's worlds. Yes, worlds because those two sure do travel around a lot and there are more than plenty of worlds with a lot of magic and a lot worlds with little magic and discoveries the characters make about themselves.
The only thing that detracted from my reading experience was my lack of time for reading. I'm pretty sure I could've read it all in one go, but I simply didn't have the time and therefore the plot felt kind of disjointed at times. Sure, it might have had something to do with the continued style of a couple of chapters from Tyen's POV and then a few from Rielle's and so on, and only a short glimpse or two into the other's life during one's POV.
I'm left eagerly waiting for the next installation.

Successor’s Promise is the very good third book in the Millennium’s Rule series but I felt it was not as engaging as the first two novels. However, it was amazingly written with brilliant world building. It had action, political intrigue, romance and magic. On the other hand, I felt like that the structure of the first two books didn’t work this well in this one as Rielle and Tyen interacted more and their stories were so interlaced that I just wanted to know what the other person was doing or thinking.
I understand the conflict Tyen felt in this book but I did wish he would either pick a side or talk about his problems with someone rather than constantly beat himself up. Rielle has grown so much more in confidence in this book but this means she has become less trusting and more protective. Qall was not my favourite character as for the first half of the book he stubbornly did not seem to understand how seriousness of the situation he was in, but he was also a bit mysterious as he was the only character that we could not see his thoughts or feelings.
While this book was not my favourite in the Millennium’s Rule series I did enjoy it, and am looking forward to reading the final book, Maker’s Curse. I would recommend Successor’s Promise to fans of the first two books in this series or other works by Trudi Canavan.

First I thought this was a duology, then a trilogy - and now, just after finishing the 3 book, truns out this series just keeps on going.
It's slow-paced but so excellently world-built (is that a thing?) that my interest is still sustained.
If it turns out to be 10+ books to come though I may find my attention wavering...

The third book in the Millennium's Rule series finally hits the stride one expects from Trudi Canavan. Five more years have passed, and our two main characters have grown up and matured a bit. The worlds, however, are still in chaos. And Raen's most loyal is still trying to resurrect him. Knowing whom to trust or where to go to be safe is hard. Everyone once again is asked to choose a side and revisit their values and principles. I enjoyed how the storyline has developed since the first book. We also see more ethical dilemmas being woven into the story. The main characters still seem a bit naive at times, but it comes out much less. With one more book to go, it was no surprise that another ancient prophecy conveniently emerged. More unsurprisingly, I've added the last book to my final must-read trio by the end of the year!

Rielle’s and Tyen’s brief acquaintanceship blossoms into something more, but both have secrets and responsibilities that keep them apart. Rielle has to protect and teach Qall, the young boy that the Raen tried to sacrifice. Tyen us still trying to save Valla and restore her to human form. Rielle and Tyen respect each other's obligations, but their decisions keep them apart.
Rielle takes Qall to far away, traveling through many worlds to try and avoid the notice of the Raen’s allies, but Qall is not the easiest student. The two butt heads and disagree more often than not. Tyen is drawn into a plot to resurrect the Raen. He needs more knowledge to resurrect Valla, but can he bring himself to bring back the Raen, to betray his friends, and to kill?
My Take:
I wanted to like this. The world is amazing, the writing is excellent, but I never got into it. I found it a bit of a slog to get through.
The main characters hook up too quickly. They met briefly at the end of the second book. Five cycles have passed between the books, and they have not met again. They talk twice in Successor’s Promise, and that’s all it takes. It felt forced to me. I’ve never found political negotiations overly romantic, but I guess it really got to these two.
Talk to each other! So much misunderstanding could be avoided if people just talked to people they should talk to. Yeah, sharing secrets is a risk, but this is a world where people can read minds. Not sharing secrets is dangerous too. This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Books need conflict, but a conflict that generates out of a lack of communication is overused.
I’m waiting for something to happen. 300 pages in, I was still waiting for something to happen. There’s a lot of running from world to world, some studying, some tinkering with machines, a lot of plotting, and not much is actually happening. Nothing happens until the very end, and that was anticlimactic.
We’re fighting a severed hand? Okay, I know the fight isn’t against the hand, but what the hand could become. It’s a notional threat, and one that many characters can’t decide how big a threat it is. Things are bad either way, so many aren’t sure if the Rein returning would be so bad. It’s an odd thing to hang the whole story on.
Tyen, get it together! Pick a side and stick with it. Way to wishy-washy for one of the most powerful sorcerers in the universe.
Qall needs more personality. He is pivotal to the book, but there isn’t a lot of character development with him. Canavan is good at character development, so I’m assuming this was on purpose. He is only five cycles old, so maybe he's supposed to appear as a blank slate of sorts? It didn’t work for me. Qall is a B-level character filling the role of an A-level character.
Memories equal a person? One of the fun things in fantasy is the way it can explore philosophical ideas. What is a person? Are we just a collection of memories? If I transfer my memories to a robot, is that robot now me? This is an important question in the book. (I think the answer is obvious. Hunger makes me crabby; stomachaches make me depressed. It’s part of who I am and has nothing to do with memories.) They do explore this question but briefly. The villain's goal is predicated on the idea that memories equal person, and he doesn’t ever question it. I’d have liked to see him face this question, even if it were only to rationalize it away.
I didn’t post reviews for the first two books in this series. I’d give them three stars each. I liked them but didn’t love them. I was disappointed with Successor’s Promise. I was expecting more, and I’m not sure if I’ll read the next book. I don’t hate this book, not by any stretch. It is okay and has some good characters and an imaginative world. On the whole, I found it boring, but if you loved the first two books, then you may like this one more than I did.

LOVED IT.
I thought this was so much better than the previous installments. It was so great to have Tyen and Rielle ACTUALLY INTERACTING. YAY.
The world building in this was so complex and clever, adding to the building blocks Canavan has so cleverly laid. I actually don't know how the author keeps track of all the different worlds in this book, and who can and can't read people's minds. The characters are often thinking 3 of 4 moves ahead creating plans for every eventuality. Oh, and the magic system is just so detailed and wow. I have not come across any other author who explores the practicalities and limitations of magic, and how it may actually work with the brain and body to this extent. I just need to sit and nerd in the corner for a bit, okay?
Book 4, I am looking at you. Come at me, bro.

Successor’s Promise still features the interesting magic system established in the first two books, but this time the story feels a bit less engaging. I was still invested in how everything would play out, yet it seemed like Vella was left by the wayside after the major events of the previous book. That said, it was still fascinating to see the main characters deal with their uncertainty, even if it was occasionally frustrating as a reader to understand what was happening before they did.
I really liked the new characters introduced here, but at times it felt like that came at the cost of spending time with the characters I had already grown attached to. I hope the story moves toward bringing the main characters back together, because I would love to see their relationship develop and watch how they use their time together to improve the worlds.

Shout out to Zeke for having the most normal name in a magical universe.
Also Tyen trying not to get involved in the plot and then immediately throwing himself straight into the middle of the plot is so in character of him and hilarious and frustrating to watch. He can still do no wrong in my eyes, 10/10 protagonist, I want to study him under a microscope.

Uff, I made it. I don´t know why but I still can´t get warm with the author´s style. Sure, some of her very detailed scenes and thoughts were quite interesting and I enjoyed the first few chapters of this novel very much. But then something changed. There was a lot of traveling between the worlds, a lot of thinking and guessing and the fast reading pace slowed very much down. For me a bit too much.
There is no question, that Trudi Canavan has a great fantasy and that she can create wonderful figures and scenes. But at some point I got a bit frustrated and annoyed. Qall turned out to be a hothead, a young man who seems to be unwilling to respect women at all and who was reacting to pretty much everything Rielle asked of him with defiance. Something I don´t like to see.
Though after all, I am, at the moment at least, not sure, if I will read the fourth book of this series as well. I still have some unanswered questions remain in my mind. But the last hundred pages were a real pain and after I gave this series and author a third shot, I probably won´t give it a fourth. Sorry.

Ein nicht ganz gelungener Abschluss dieser Triologie!
Nachdem ich so lange auf den finalen Band gewartet habe, waren meine Erwartungen dementsprechend hoch und wurden nicht vollkommen erfüllt.
Zum Schreibstil der Autorin kann man durch die Reihe hinweg sagen, dass er gut lesbar und angenehm ist - ich konnte immer gut in die Geschichte eintauchen. Sie hat eine Art, einem Magie näher zu bringen, die ich immer wieder auf's Neue für mich entdecke!
Die Charaktere sind meiner Meinung nach sehr authentisch und ich fand Rielle und Tyen toll! Leider wurde ein Charakter ein wenig in den Hintergrung gestellt,was ich nicht ganz so toll fand - aber so st das nunmal.
Die Welt, die durch die Triologie hinweg geschaffen wurde, ist einfach unglaublich komplex und fesselt mich immer wieder - ganz große klasse!
Die Handlung in diesem Buch kommt aber leider nicht annähernd an die im zweiten Band ran - es plätscherte vor sich hin und war teilweise zäh und hat somit auch den Reiz verloren.
Fazit
Das Buch kriegt somit 4 von 5 Sterne von mir - auf der einen Seite freue ich mich, dass ich die Reihe beendet habe, aber auf der anderen Seite bin ich auch etwas traurig.
Jeder Fantasy-Fan sollte sich diese Triologie mal anschauen - ebenfalls "Die Gilde der schwarzen Magier".

Die Charaktere sind meiner Meinung nach sehr authentisch und ich fand Rielle und Tyen toll! Leider wurde ein Charakter ein wenig in den Hintergrung gestellt,was ich nicht ganz so toll fand - aber so st das nunmal.
Die Welt, die durch die Triologie hinweg geschaffen wurde, ist einfach unglaublich komplex und fesselt mich immer wieder - ganz große klasse!
Die Handlung in diesem Buch kommt aber leider nicht annähernd an die im zweiten Band ran - es plätscherte vor sich hin und war teilweise zäh und hat somit auch den Reiz verloren.
Fazit
Das Buch kriegt somit 4 von 5 Sterne von mir - auf der einen Seite freue ich mich, dass ich die Reihe beendet habe, aber auf der anderen Seite bin ich auch etwas traurig.
Jeder Fantasy-Fan sollte sich diese Triologie mal anschauen - ebenfalls "Die Gilde der schwarzen Magier".

Der letzte Band der Reihe schließt die Geschichte von Rielle und Tyen ab. Es spektakulär unspektakulär - sozusagen. Es nicht langweilig, aber auch kein großes Epos. Trudi Canavan hat einen angenehmen und ruhigen Schreibstil, sodass selbst Kampfszenen nicht gehetzt wirken beim lesen, was ich persönlich bevorzuge.
Charakterentwicklung gab es bei beiden Hauptcharakteren und ich möchte hervorheben, dass mir vor besonders gefallen hat, dass nicht auf Biegen und Brechen eine Liebesgeschichte daraus gemacht wurde. Ebenfalls angenehm finde ich, dass weder Rielle noch Tyen nur unsicher oder zu selbstsicher sind, sondern emotional facettenreich. Gleichzeitig wirkte es stellenweise zu beschreibend als wirklich subjektive Wahrnehmung des jeweiligen Charakters.
Insgesamt hat mir die Reihe ganz gut gefallen, persönlich mag ich die Sonea Reihe von Trudi jedoch lieber.

To było tak złe, że nawet nie dałam rady tego do końca przeczytać. Brak mi słów i nie dowierzam, że można tak bardzo zepsuć fabułę. Rewelacyjny pierwszy tom i kompletna katastrofa w dwóch kolejnych. Autorka popełniła morderstwo na własnej książce. Zmarnowała cały jej potencjał. Trzeci tom wieje nudą. Szkoda komukolwiek tracić na to czas. Szczerze nie polecam.

Esta tercera entrega me ha gustado bastante más que los dos libros anteriores. La trama, que conserva toda la originalidad de los mundos creados por Trudi Canavan, ha sido más dinámica y envolvente, más llena de acción y con más giros inesperados. Aunque me siguen sobrando explicaciones que no aportan gran cosa a la trama.
Tyen y Rielle son dos personajes que me gustan mucho, sin embargo, su carácter de no violencia los ha limitado bastante convirtiéndolos, en muchas ocasiones, en personajes que no llevan la acción principal sino que sirven de soporte a otros personajes. Esto ha hecho que pueda simpatizar con ellos debido a sus principios, pero no se han convertido en seres inolvidables. Y claro, eso influye en el final, que ha sido bastante predecible, aunque en total sintonía con el desarrollo general de la historia. La verdad es que esperaba más porque, para ser una trilogía tan larga, el desenlace ha ocupado pocas páginas.
Si hay algo que no voy a olvidar fácilmente es la forma tan original de enfocar la magia y los viajes entre mundos. Han sido geniales. Sin olvidar las elevadas normal morales que transmite toda la saga.
Lectura recomendable para los amantes del género fantástico.

Genauso wie ich beim ersten Band eine ziemlich lange Zeit gebraucht habe um mich in das Buch hineinzufinden, konnte ich bei diesem Buch nicht richtig dabei bleiben.
Über das Bloggerportal habe ich das Hörbuch bekommen und musste mich natürlich erst mal daran gewöhnen, dass alles auf einmal auf Deutsch und nicht mehr auf Englisch war. Nach einer Weile hören war das für mich in Ordnung und ich habe den Unterschied gar nicht mehr gemerkt, aber so richtig anfreunden konnte ich mich mit dem Buch trotzdem nicht.
Nach wie vor mag ich Canavans Schreibstiel sehr und das World-Building ist immer noch toll, aber gepackt hat mich die Geschichte einfach nicht.
Sowohl Tyen als auch Rielle haben sich weiter entwickelt und sind erwachsener geworden. Tyen war ziemlich hin- und hergerissen zwischen beiden Seiten des Konflikts, was zwar verständlich ist, mich aber trotzdem gestört hat. Meiner Meinung nach hätte er irgendwann einfach eine endgültige Entscheidung treffen sollen und dabei bleiben.
Rielle dagegen steht fest auf einer Seite, dafür hat sie aber eine Persönlichkeits-Veränderung durchlaufen die ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen konnte. Während sie mir zu Anfang der Serie etwas zu naiv war, ist sie nun auf einmal total in eine Mutterrolle gefallen und sehr erwachsen geworden. Beides natürlich und verständlich, aber meiner Meinung nach nicht gut genug beschrieben. Es fanden keinerlei Schritte dazwischen statt, sie ist einfach vom einen ins andere Extrem gewechselt.
Die Handlung war interessant, gegen Schluss hat sich die Spannung dann aber ziemlich aufgelöst und alles wurde ziemlich abrupt und einfach gelöst.
Alles in allem habe ich dem Buch drei Sterne gegeben, werde den nächsten Band aber ziemlich sicher lesen und die Serie weiter verfolgen wenn es denn dann soweit ist.

It felt unfinished, it felt like reading someone's world-building notes with the hint of a story threaded through to hold them together.
The first book in the series was brilliant with detailed world-building, in depth characters and an intriguing plot, the second book let the first one down and this one lets both the first two down even further. The story is so vague I spent half the book wondering when it would get started, and the second half of the book wondering why half the plot arcs begun in the first half had even been included since they went absolutely nowhere.
Characters spend a bizarre amount of time zipping around between worlds so fast it feels a waste of time bothering to describe any of them, and side characters are given so little characterisation they feel like irritating NPCs from a video game with no motivations of their own.
The writing quality overall (putting aside the story-making side of things) is not a patch on book one, with characters repeating themselves or stating the obvious to each other and a lack of visual description of the worlds and people they encounter. Gone is the strong sense of atmosphere and place present in book one making it incredibly hard to relate or empathise with either the story or the characters themselves.
Compared to Canavan's other books, the Black Magician saga and the Priestess of the White series, this series is a bizarre departure from the usual skill in story-telling, world-building and character development that she displays. This series (and Successor's Promise in particular) feels rushed, it feels like undeveloped notes and it feels like a good overall idea for a story, and for characters in that story, has simply not been given the time and effort they deserve.

Welch eine Erleichterung - mit diesem Ende kann ich leben.
Nein, diese Reihe von Trudi Canavan hat mir nicht wirklich Freude bereitet. Das, was ich bereits im zweiten Band bemängelt hatte, setzt sich hier noch intensiver fort. Das Originelle des "durch die Welten reisen" bemüht Canavan zu Tode ähnlich dem Effekt, wenn man einen Witz zu Tode erklärt. Der Witz ist weg.
Die Charaktere reisen nur noch.
Es macht plopp.

Mal gibt es Magie, mal nicht. Mal kann man atmen oder muss Luft anhalten, je nachdem. Bla, bla, bla.
Ich frage mich, ob die Geschichte wirklich diese 2000 Seiten braucht. Weniger wäre hier definitiv mehr gewesen. Für mich war das Buch nach den ersten Kapiteln nur noch ein reiner Fleißakt, da ich wissen wollte, wie sie ausgeht. Schon lange habe ich mich nicht mehr durch so ein langweiliges Buch beißen müssen. Auf den vierten Teil, der wirklich noch geschrieben wurde, kann ich dankend verzichten. Da schaue ich lieber einen Tag lang Gras beim Wachsen zu.
Drei Sterne vergebe ich nur aus dem Grund, da ich keine "gefällt mir nicht" Punkte abziehe. Geschmacksache ist und bleibt Geschmackssache. Dafür kann ein Autor nichts.

It was okay.
I think with these books that the first was an intriguing intro, the second was very good but the third... I'm not sure but I just don't particularly care about any of the characters. Qall in particular is never given a real personality I felt.
And the mind-reading power got a bit old. Reading anyone who's weaker than you even if they're blocking just feels like a clumsy plot device to me.
The book ended nicely, if a bit suddenly and reached a satisfying climax.
I can't understand why she decided to turn the Trilogy into a quadrilogy.

„Die Mächtige“ von Trudi Canavan ist der dritte Teil aus der Reihe „Die Magie der tausend Welten“, in dem wir auf das fulminante Finale rund um die Nachfolge des Raen zusteuern. Erschienen ist der Roman Ende Juni im Penhaligon-Verlag.
Weitere fünf Jahre sind vergangen in denen viel passiert ist. Rielle konnte den Jungen retten, der das neue Gefäß für den Raen werden sollte. Mittlerweile ist er ein junger Erwachsener und nun liegt es an Rielle ihn auf die zukünftigen Gefahren vorzubereiten. Dahli, ein glühender Anhänger des toten Raens Valhan, hat es immer noch auf den Jungen abgesehen und möchte diesen in den Raen verwandeln.
Währenddessen hat Tyen sich ein neues Leben in einer der tausend Welten erschaffen und hilft den Töpfern dieser Welt mit seiner mechanischen Magie. Zu seinem Leidwesen muss er über Dahli erfahren, dass seine Erfindung der Insektoiden dazu genutzt wurde, um Kriegsmaschinen herzustellen. Er macht es sich zur Aufgabe diese zu zerstören und dann wäre da auch noch Pergama, das Buch, das zurück in eine Frau verwandelt werden soll…
Es fällt mir schwer dieses Buch zu bewerten, da ich mit sehr hohen Erwartungen an diesen dritten Teil herangegangen bin und leider wurden diese Erwartungen nicht so ganz erfüllt.
Auch der dritte Teil hat mir insgesamt gut gefallen, aber nach dem zweiten Teil, der mich so sehr geflasht hat, hatte ich mir mehr erhofft. Die Geschichte plätschert eher gemächlich vor sich hin, ist aber durchaus interessant. Rielle und Tyen haben neue Aufgaben bekommen und müssen sich in neuen Welten zurecht finden. Spannender wird es erst als Rielle sich um den jungen Quall kümmern muss, der als Gefäß für den Geist des Raen auserkoren wurde, was Rielle verhindern möchte. Hier beginnt dann ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit und es wird von Kapitel zu Kapitel spannender. Gerade das letzte Viertel hatte es echt in sich, obwohl ich sagen muss, dass das Ende dann wieder recht unspektakulär war.
Den Schreibstil von Trudi Canavan fand ich wieder angenehm zu lesen. Die Art wie sie Magie beschreibt finde ich immer wieder klasse. Wer andere Romane von Trudi Canavan gelesen hat, wird durchaus die ein oder andere Parallele zu anderen Reihen von ihr erkennen, es wurde aber dennoch auch wieder eine komplett neue Welt erschaffen, die sehr faszinierend und komplex ist. Weiteren Romanen wäre ich auch auf jeden Fall nicht abgeneigt. Die Reihe an sich und auch das Ende des Buches hat hierfür auf jeden Fall genügend Platz gelassen. Ich hätte spontan gleich drei Ideen für weitere Reihen aus dieser Welt.
Dieses Buch hat auch einen sehr interessanten Umstand. Die deutsche Ausgabe ist eher erschienen als die englische, was bei einer australischen Autorin wohl als ungewöhnlich bezeichnet werden darf. Woran das genau liegt, kann ich euch leider nicht sagen. Die ersten beiden Teile habe ich auf englisch gelesen, aber ich hatte einfach nicht die Geduld nach dem zweiten Teil. Bei einem Namen musste ich mich dann auch umgewöhnen. Auf englisch heißt das Buch Vella und nicht Pergama. Ich persönlich bevorzuge ja den Namen Vella. Witziger Fun Fact: einmal hat die Übersetzerin vergessen Vella in Pergama umzubenennen. Kann passieren und empfinde ich als nicht so schlimmen Fehler, aber ich denke, der ein oder andere wird verwirrt sein.
Sehr schade fand ich, dass das Buch Pergama in diesem Teil doch relativ deutlich in den Hintergrund gerückt ist. Gerade sie empfand ich als einen der interessantesten Parts dieser Welt. Ich hätte mir an sich mehr bahnbrechende Erkenntnisse in diesem Teil erhofft. Im zweiten Teil haben wir so viel erfahren und es ist so viel passiert. Nach (sehr) langem Warten konnte ich jetzt endlich den Abschlussband dieser Reihe in den Händen halten. Endlich erfahren wir, ob der Raen jetzt wieder geboren werden wird oder nicht und darauf war ich wirklich sehr gespannt darauf.
Mir hat auch dieses Buch wieder sehr gut gefallen, obwohl es stellenweise doch leider etwas zäh war, denn ich fand nicht, dass es hier viel Handlung gegeben hat. Es war allerdings für mich okay, denn mag die Autorin sehr gerne und das Buch hat ja im Gesamten wieder gut gepasst. Die Handlung in diesem Buch ist fünf Jahre nach Abschluss des Vorgängers angesetzt. Seit damals hat sich einiges weiterentwickelt und ich fand es toll, wie die Autorin in ihrem typischen Schreibstil erzählt hat. Sowohl Tyen als auch Rielle haben sich in eher unterschiedliche Richtungen entwickelt.
Tyen beginnt zu zweifeln ob der Raen vielleicht doch nicht nur schlecht war und Rielle versucht immer noch das Gefäß vor den Anhänger zu verstecken.
Die Geschichte wird uns wieder aus der Sicht von Tyen und Rielle erzählt. Ich fand beide Erzählperspektiven sehr interessant und abwechslungsreich. Persönlich mag ich ja wechselnde Erzählperspektiven, denn man bekommt als Leser sehr viele Eindrücke in einer Handlung.
Der Schreibstil hat mir wieder sehr gut gefallen. Ich fand diese ganzen Beschreibungen wieder sehr faszinierend, denn gerade die diversen Welten und Orte haben mir sehr gut gefallen und ich konnte mir das alles sehr gut bildlich vorstellen.
Natürlich waren auch wieder die Charaktere klasse beschrieben. Rielle und Tyen haben mir, wie schon in den Vorgängern sehr gut gefallen. Beide wirkten in ihren Handlungsweisen sehr sympathisch.
Das Cover gefällt mir wieder gut. Es passt zu den anderen Büchern aus dieser Reihe.

5 von 5 Sterne. Klare Kauf – und Leseempfehlung. Man sollte allerdings die anderen Büchern aus dieser Reihen kennen.
Mir hat auch dieses Buch wieder sehr gut gefallen, obwohl es stellenweise doch leider etwas zäh war, denn ich fand nicht, dass es hier viel Handlung gegeben hat. Es un libro que no entra en lo juvenil por lo tanto toda persona que le guste la fantasía tiene que ir de cabeza a esta trilogía. Es un libro que nos demuestra tanto la maldad como la bondad que podemos encontrar en la humanidad.
Este libro ha superado mis expectativas. Pensaba que tras el final de El ángel de las tormentas le costaría a la autora ponerlo al mismo nivel o incluso superarlo y me ha sorprendido gratamente.
Me gusta destacar la relación entre Tyen y Rielle, que son dos hechiceros con poder y con fuerzas bastante parejas, y por estos dos personajes podemos ver que el libro tiene mucha acción, intriga y desconfianza ya que al tener ambos no pueden leerse la mente como hacen con el resto.
He echado mucho de menos la presencia de Bella en este libro. Ha estado presente pero me han faltado mucho las charlas que casi no han aparecido en este libro. Aún así me ha gustado el final que recibe, pues estoy de acuerdo con lo que Qall le dice a Tyen.
La acción podemos verla durante todo el libro ya sea en las guerras que podemos ver entre los mundos o como unas máquinas están aniquilando a millones de personas por culpa de Tyen que fue el que enseño a como crear estas máquinas. También es cierto que veremos la culpabilidad e inocencia de este personaje tras este acto.
El personaje que creo que más ha evolucionado desde el primero libro es Rielle, Allí la vimos siendo una niña y aquí podemos verla convertida en toda una mujer que acaba sabiendo como hacer las cosas .Son porque le sale del corazón y no por el poder , no le mueve la codicia.
En resumidas cuentas, es un libro que han superados las expectativas que la autora creo en la anterior entrega y con el que he disfrutado muchísimo.

Este sigue siendo el universo más rico y completo de los creados por Trudi Canavan. La historia sorprende conforme avanza, sin darte pistas claras de dónde va a ir y pone a cada uno de los personajes ante dilemas morales muy interesantes. No hay decisiones buenas o malas. No hay blanco o negro. Cada decisión implica un dilema. Priorizar un valor sobre otro. Es una constante prueba de cuál es el bien mayor para cada uno, ¿qué importa más? Lo que crea personajes con grises y con dudas, que son muy interesantes de leer. Me complació en particular que esto ocurre no solo con los protagonistas sino también con algunos otros, como Qall y el propio Dahli. También hay relaciones muy interesantes, más allá del propio planteamiento sobre Tyen y Rielle. En lo personal mi favorita siempre fue la de Tyen y Baluka.
Sin embargo, creo que la narración sufre el desgaste de que quedan ya pocas sorpresas del universo y hay descripciones de la magia para viajar entre los mundos que se vuelven cansadas, lo que hace que pierda un poco de ritmo, sobretodo en las primeras partes. Hacia el final aumenta la velocidad de la narración al intercalar con más frecuencia los puntos de vista.
Me parecía un buen cierre para la trilogía. Ahora que se sabe que van a ser cuatro libros me queda la duda sobre qué nos puede esperar en el cuarto pues aunque hay más cosas que saber, la trama de los tres primeros libros me parece que sí quedaba completa hasta aquí.
Sin embargo, creo que la narración sufre el desgaste de que quedan ya pocas sorpresas del universo y hay descripciones de la magia para viajar entre los mundos que se vuelven cansadas, lo que hace que pierda un poco de ritmo, sobretodo en las primeras partes. I bought this book as an e-book, 6 years ago. Back then I apparently got 48% through what was Book 3/4 in a series.
Two weeks ago, in my COVID-fueled, bedridden-delirium boredom, I somehow stumbled upon it again - and finished the last 50% in a sitting. I have no idea why I stopped originally, probably because I was a bit too old to finish the book (6 years ago).
It's pretty cheesy, predictable, teen fantasy fiction, whose story I don't remember almost whatsoever from however many years ago I started. Do I care? No. Magic is a finite resource in this universe, and people think magicians are God's because not everyone is a magician - something something, good Vs evil. Is it kinda bad? Probably. The ending is a bit too happy.
Do I regret reading it? Am I ashamed? Absolutely not.

La trilogía de la Ley del milenio ha sido perfecta para empezar a leer a Trudi Canavan, ya conocida entre los lectores como una autora de fantasía de referencia. Así, en La promesa del sucesor, pone punto y final a la historia e Rielle y de Tyen, siendo que sus caminos han llegado a juntarse por fin, para luego volver a separarse, mostrándonos lo que ocurre en cada uno de los mundos en los que se está desarrollando la acción y ofreciéndonos un desenlace de lo más apropiado para todas las preguntas que hemos ido formulando a lo largo de las paginas.
