Haven't had wi-fi when I was reading it, and now it's been too long and can't remember particulars so my star rating will have to do.

I've been looking forward to this arc, though it's really the second part that interests me the most.

This part is basically setting up for the big stuff that's coming in part 2 and it does suffer a little for that. It's like the middle part of a trilogy tending to be a bit boring because it's there to get the characters from the exciting beginning to the exciting ending.

There are a couple of pretty good fight scenes and a valiant attempt to make the cliched accidental boob-grab joke work in literature (though it cheats and illustrates it). Unfortunately, my favourite scene from the early part of this arc in the anime falls foul of the change in style between book and animation: it comes across as an effective joke in the anime, but it's played too straight in the book. That said, another favoured comedy scene works a little better in the book as it's better explained, so, a bit of a balance.

Still, it's set up for what I'm hoping will be a thoroughly worthwhile second part. Here's hoping.

Tatsuya is asked to join the team for the thesis competition as a last minute replacement. He would have preferred to stay out of the limelight, but the subject is of a particular interest so he joins reluctantly. Of course, nothing is simple for Tutsuya and now a group of thieves or spies is trying to steal something. Their exact goals are unclear, but they have infiltrated the school and seem to have some powerful backing. So while most of this first part of a 2-part arc is about high school life and interaction between the various characters, there is some action with the promise of more to come in Volume 7.

Volume 6 is a good addition to the series with a few good character developments, especially for some of the side characters. We do get to learn a bit about Tatsuya's family life and history. As with the earlier parts, I love the world building and how Tatsuya and his sister are powerful, intelligent and brave, but still have clear weaknesses and need their friends to compensate for those. There are no damsels in distress and you understand why people are friends with each other. Tatsuya is clearly not the centre of everybody around him, not even the women, and his male friends are not goofballs typical to the genre. Of course, the role and power of the characters is a bit much for high school students, but that is what you would expect for the genre, although here the author at least gave it some thought and limited it to some extend.

All in all, I greatly enjoyed reading it, even if it is a bit slow on action (which is fully compensated in volume 7 which is action packed to the extreme).

The cover is a bit misplaced in my opinion Honoka and Shizuku don't play that much of a role and it is a bit more grim then the stars and purple bubbles suggest. It is very much the first part of an arc, and the story is not finished until Volume 7, and although the ending is not a cliff-hanger, it is still very much not ended.

Idea
It is following the journey of our MC and his dear sister.
This volume did not bring any major incident. I expect to have some more action in the next volume though.
Still, it was a good opportunity to develop some side characters and not only focus on MC.

Execution Macro
A lot of different scenarios were brought to focus.
Different interactions with the characters, and new players.

Execution Micro
I believe a little more details could enrich the story. I am not saying that it should go overboard in here, but maybe a couple more sentences during the interactions or explanations could do some good.

All-in-All
Even tough it took me a while to read this volume, I still enjoyed.
As I said in micro, more details can always improve the LN and I am not talking about overloading the reader with needless information, I am talking about one or two more sentences here and there to enrich/brighten the characters interactions.
Oh also, remove the parenthesis (). They mean nothing in LN (right?). <- See? Strange!

Great plot and characters.

The author brings the characters alive wonderfully. I think this is one of the strongest point in this serie. The multitude of characters with interesting personalities and relations. The story and plot was build slowly but brilliantly. A great book in this serie, really enjoy reading it.

as always a very well written entry from Sato-sensei, love the 3rd person narrative allowing you to understand many of the characters in the series not just Tatsuya and Miyuki. this arc may not be my favorite from this series but it's still fun to read.

altogether, it felt like this book was mostly a setup for the next part. We did get to read about some nice reveals, decent action and cute relationship stuff.
