Useful and lighthearted.

I know a bit about CBT but I wanted to have the tools at my disposal. Before starting the book, I felt trapped by my own anxiety. After working through the exercises slowly (a new chapter every week) I feel a lot better--I feel like I can trust myself to manage difficult feelings now.

This is a great book to learn to become your own therapist.

It's also rather lighthearted--which is a plus. Some other books out there talk about SEVERE symptoms of depression and anxiety (like cutting...) and are far too triggering. I feel like they just cause even more anxiety.

Due to the positive results I got from this book, I'm continuing to self-learn CBT through other books. They'll likely repeat some of the same exercises, but I think it's a good idea to get any many tools as possible until they become innate.
