Brewer Ross has given up on love…until he meets a woman who turns his life—and brewery—upside down.

Ross Hoffman held the potential for a perfect life in his hands—a life with Evelyn, the only woman he’d ever allowed himself to love, their baby and…her husband, Austin Fitzgerald, who also happened to be his best friend. But the challenge of trying to make a threesome into something acceptable—let alone the thought of actually sharing Evelyn with anyone—forces him to bolt. Determined to put all thoughts of their relationship behind him, Ross jumps headfirst into a new brewery job in Colorado, and back into the sort of sexual decadence that he hopes will distract him from his misery.

When he agrees to assist Austin through a spate of brewery mishaps, he lays eyes on his true fate—in the form of the petite, mysterious and exotic Elisa Nagel. Hired as assistant brewer, Elisa is absolutely everything he believes he doesn’t want in a woman. But he’s drawn to her in ways he can’t explain, and he can’t help but fall hard, fast and deep, which places him square in the middle of her horrific, until now secret backstory.

Ross is determined that his love will conquer and overcome the horrors of Elisa’s past, allowing her to trust him with the only thing he desires—her heart.

I said in my review of Tapped that I needed just a little bit more. Well, I got a lot more in this follow up story.

Ross Hoffman walked away from his relationship with Evelyn and Austin after realizing the impossibilities of having it work, especially with Evelyn being pregnant with his child and legally married to Austin. He escapes to a brewery in Boulder but cannot seem to forget Evelyn. When he is suddenly drawn back to Grand Rapids, he's "lightstruck" by their new brewmaster, Elisa (Elle) Nagel, a fellow German who is completely opposite of his "type."

Frankly, I loved the three-way relationship between Austin, Evelyn and Ross as Crowe created a fascinating situation between them so I was disappointed when Ross walked away. However, as I learned more about the man, I discovered why he made the right decision. On the surface, Elle doesn't seem like the kind of woman who'd be interested in Ross and she does indeed pose a formidable challenge. She's also got a huge trail of baggage following her. But, they're both extraordinarily passionate about their work and each other. It's a rocky relationship in both arenas but never, ever dull. I loved how they loved each other and it was nice to see Ross create a new relationship with Evelyn and Austin.

There's quite a bit of drama in this story but it befit these characters. The ending is quite traumatic, providing a level of suspense and triumph I didn't foresee. I loved the story and the characters, all of them, and hope we haven't seen the last of them.

Lightstruck is the second book in the Brewing Passions Series by Liz Crowe. It is a spicy contemporary romance.
Ross Hoffman thought he had achieved the perfect life, he’d finally opened himself up and found love with Evelyn, their baby added to his joy- and to have his best friend Austin be part of it all was the icing on the cake. But threesomes are difficult to navigate; sharing isn’t all it’s made out to be. Complications arise and Ross doesn’t know how to deal with it all. So he leaves. He quickly finds new employment and reverts to his old habit of playing the field, using women to fill the void in his life. No relationships, just sex.
But life comes full circle when Austin asks for his expert assistance with some problems he is experiencing in his brewery. Ross finds himself agreeing and returns to help. He does expect things to be a little awkward being around Austin and Evelyn again, but what he didn’t expect was to be drawn to Austin’s new assistant brewer. She is the complete opposite of what he looks for in a woman and yet he finds himself completely under her spell.
Elisa Nagel never stays in one place for too long. She has a past that haunts her and because of her fears she can’t allow herself to get too settled. Always looking over her shoulder, expecting her past to catch up with her, she remains vigilant and keeps her distance by not forming friendships or relationships. She concentrates on just doing her job before she decides it’s time to move on again.
But she has finally found a place she really likes, doing a job she loves and against her better judgement she feels she could easily be friends with her new colleagues. She would love nothing else than to become part of this ‘family’ of friends and unburden herself of the past eleven years. But she fears for their safety if she draws them into her dangerous situation.
But Ross recognises that she has secrets and seems to be running from her past, just as he was. He is determined to break down her barriers and get her to trust him enough to confide her trouble to. He isn’t one to give up easily. Will Elisa allow him to dismantle her defences and welcome him into her heart? Or will she do what she does best- flee? What happens when her past catches up with her? Will Ross be able to help?
This book was fantastic. I loved how we get a bit more of Austin and Evelyn’s story, as well as diving into Ross and Elisa’s story. Even though we know most of the characters in this book already, this story had a totally different feel from the first- an individuality that sets it apart and made me take notice.
As expected, Ms. Crowe delivered a really well written page turner. I love the added suspense and mystery surrounding Elisa’s past and why she was constantly on the move.
I really liked the first book, but I found myself drawn into this story a lot more than the first. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Crowe does with her next book, from the synopsis it looks like it could be even better than this one.

Thank you Ms Crowe!

description

This is book two in the series and Ross's story. After fleeing the relationship he shared with Evelyn and Austin, he starts a new venture in Colorado. To forget his feelings for Evelyn, he decides to dive head first into the life he used to live full of women. Eventually he agrees to help Austin with some things that have been happening around his brewery. He's captivated there by the new brewer, Elisa, and he's determined to win her over.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Ross in book one. He could never decide exactly what he wanted and go for it, He did what he thought he should do without thinking of the others in his life. He did a lot of running away, even though he compared everyone to the relationship he had with Evelyn. You knew that he deserved more than that when he met Elisa, and there was never a comparison. I liked seeing him find his own way and his one true person to love. I absolutely loved the things he did for Elisa.
Elisa is an mystery. She doesn't talk about her past. She doesn't want a relationship. It amazed me when the things she survived came to light. Elisa was truly one of the strongest women I've read. She survived so much pain and abuse and she still lived her life to the fullest. I love her quick wit and the banter between her and Ross. My heart broke for her as the pain of her past slowly came to light. She truly deserved to be loved and to live a full and happy life with everything she could want. When pasts interfere, they need to find a way to overcome the damage their choices make.
This has been a great series and I love the writing style. I was happy we got to see and follow the stories of previous characters as well. This was full of drama and twists, and was a great read. Ross redeemed himself for me in this book and I loved getting his side of the story.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series - and I loved book 1, but think that Lightstruck may be even better! We left Ross last time having decided that he could not be a third, and not believing he could be more than that, whatever Austin and Evelyn tried to make him believe.

Well, Ms Crowe has done an amazing job of giving Ross the story he deserved, and a woman who will manage his ways and enjoy his passion to the full. Of course it is not an easy journey, but it is a very exciting and emotional one.

Elisa is a wonderful contradiction of a woman, and with such a sad, and scary past that just will not let her go. She has his voice in her head, doing untold damage all too often ... there is one wonderful scene where Ross says 'shut up' to his inner voice, and she hears, and is so relieved that she is not the only one ... that was such a powerful moment, and yet also highly amusing.

I love the description of the brewery, what they are making, and how, and Melody in the bar, and her relationship issues with Trent. Evelyn bringing the baby to work; Austin being the solicitous father and husband; it is all just delicious.

There is passion, drama, sadness, redemption, and lots and lots of love and loving in this story. I sat and read it from cover to cover without almost moving a muscle - I did not want to leave it for a second, as I was too involved and invested in the outcome. I refuse to say more about the story itself, as you need to read it, but I can promise that it is so, so worth it.

Thank you Ms Crowe for the perfect follow up to Tapped, and I am looking forward to reading Conditioned as soon as I can get my hands on a copy!

Lightstruck
By: Liz Crowe
4 out of 5 stars
Lighstruck is the second book in the Brewing Passion series by Liz Crowe. Lightstruck continues the relationship between Ross, Austin and Evelyn. The second book in this series focus on Ross and the decision he makes concerning his life. Lightstruck will having you experiencing a mix of emotions. The knowledge received on Breweries was eye opening and wonderful.
Ross Hoffman is a man on the run! Running from his feelings and the situation with his best friend Austin and Evelyn , the woman he loves. He is a tortured soul! Running from his life not able to live with Austin marrying Evelyn. A crisis has Austin asking Ross to return to the left he was trying to forget to help him out. Coming back has Ross meeting the new assistant whom he is instantly drawn to.
Elisa Nagel ( Ellie) doesn't lay down roots. She doesn't stay in one place too long. Her past haunts her! Fear won't let her settle and have a complete life. Full of love and friendship. Ellie does not allow people into her life. For fear of their safety and also her inability to trust. She keeps her distance and don't form relationships. A situation brings her and Evelyn together and Elisa starts to feel comfortable and make friends.
Ross knows Elisa has secrets. He sees the same pain in Elisa that is in him. Ross also is running from his past but the attraction he feels for Elisa has him determined to break through to her. Will Elisa allow Ross in her life? Can she trust him with her heart? Trust Ross with her secrets? What happens when Ellie past comes knocking. Is love between two tortured souls enough to break through and grow. Ms Crowe does an excellent job telling the story of Ross and Elisa. Lightstruck is heartfelt, engaging, and steamy. Liz Crowe has done it once again. I highly recommend this book and you must read Tapped the first book by Ms Crowe in the Brewing Passion series. You also receive a treat into how Breweries operate. Don't miss a great book. Cause sharing is not always easy.

Lightstruck : (A contemporary romance novel) (Brewing Passion Book 2) is written by Liz Crowe. This is the second book in the series. This continues with the characters from the first book. So I recommend reading the first book Tapped first. Liz Crowe did a great job on this book. The story is well written. This book is filled with many emotions. This book is about Ross Hoffman and Elisa Nagel. Ross has been a third wheel in a relationship with a married couple and he doesn't want to be anymore. Ross is tired of having to share. Ross knows it is going to be hard to walk away, but he knows he is doing the right thing by walking away. So Ross leaves. Although he feels like he left his heart behind. Ross throws himself in what he loves to do, and that's beer brewing. But Ross gets a call one day from Austin, that has him returning home. Where he meets Elisa. Elisa is Austin's assistant, she is the total opposite of what Ross likes. But there's something, a connection between the two, that pulls theme together. Elisa has a lot of secrets hidden, she has been through a lot in her life. Elisa hides her pain, you would never thought she had a worry in the world, the mood she puts off. I find Ross and Elisa perfect together. This is a great story. I really enjoyed this book. I recommend reading this story to find out what happens between Ross and Elisa. Thank you, Liz Crowe. Great book on this book. 5 Stars.

Lightstruck (Brewing Passion #2) by Liz Crowe
4.5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Abusive BDSM relationship, Attempted Rape, Stalking (sort of), physical scars from abuse, drugged and abused
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Elle is a creative, sexy, intelligent, master brewer. She finds herself loving her position with Fitzgerald's brewery. However, because of her past, she knows that she can't stay long. If she stays too long, he'll find her and she can't go back.

Ross is struggling. Ever since he made the decision to let Evelyn and Austin live together as a family, despite fathering Rose, he has been floundering.

When these two come together, it's brewing perfection. Even though Elle has a troubled past, is skittish and somewhat mental since she speaks to herself a lot, Ross is patient and kind. They have great chemistry and when push comes to shove, both have to figure out whether or not they can truly stick it out and fight for their love.

I liked the back and forth and thought that Elle was so strong throughout the story. Ross was also strong because he was able to learn that he really had made the right decision - he loved Austin and Evelyn enough to walk away.

Lightstruck: (A Contemporary Romance Novel)(Brewing Passion Book 2) by Liz Crowe is the second book in the Brewing Passion series. I highly recommend reading the first book before this one as this one picks up where the other one left off. This story really has two different plots going at the same time. One is a continuation of Evelyn, Austin and Ross's story and the other is about moving on with life. You will enjoy how these characters are true to life and you will find yourself relating to them. These characters will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions that you won't want to miss. The twists this author has created for these characters will make you laugh, cry and angry at times. Find out what happens next with these characters as they start a new chapter in their lives.

Ross Hoffman has everything that a perfect life could want. He had a life with Evelyn, their baby and her husband, his best friend. When the thought of having to make their life acceptable and sharing Evelyn has caused him to leave. Determined to start a new life, he takes a new job at a brewery in Colorado and back into meaningless sex to help distract him from his misery. What will happen when he agrees to help Austin through some brewery mishaps? Will he meet his true fate? The second he lays eyes on Ellsa Nagel, he knows she is everything he doesn't want in a woman. Will he fall hard for her? There is something about her that he can't seem to stay away from. When her secrets are revealed, what will happen to them? Will she trust him with her heart?

Evelyn, Autstin and Ross's relationship is a little different then the typical relationship. But when Ross decides that maybe they would be better off if he left, that is exactly what he does. But with life struggles, he finds himself back among them. These are all pretty strong characters and in this installment, they all grow with each other. Things are changing for them but what does fate have in store for them? The secondary characters are really great supporting characters. They add something to the story that makes it more engaging. Then you have the other half of this story where Ross meets Ellsa. There is an attraction between them that they can't seem to resist. They have the same interests and neither one of them was looking for the other. She has secrets that will effect her life now, how will he handle them once he finds them out? Will he convince her that she can trust him? Find out what happens to all of these characters as they go on their own journeys in search of happiness.

This is my second book by Liz Crowe and it is better then the first. I can't wait to see what the author does with some of the other characters in this series. Liz is a best selling author, beer blogger, brewery marketing expert, mom of three and a soccer fan. She currently lives in Ann Arbor and has decades of experience with sales and fund raising. You will enjoy this story from the first word on. It will pull you into the characters triangle world like no other. I read this story in one sitting and found that I couldn't put it down. It is a fast story that you will need to see what happens at the end. I highly recommend this story, find out what happens to these characters as their story continues.

Lightstruck: (A Contemporary Romance Novel) (Brewing Passion Book 2)
By: Liz Crowe
5 out of 5 stars

The story Lightstruck: (A Contemporary Romance Novel) (Brewing Passion Book 2) by Liz Crowe is a book about two people who find each other and then having to overcome situations that risk tearing them apart. This is the story of Ross Hoffman and Elisa Nagel. Ross is a man that ran. When his best friend, Austin and the only woman who he allowed himself to love, Evelyn, are getting married he finds himself not able to handle it and leaves. The situation is only complicated by the fact that Evelyn is carrying his child. Now his best friend has asked for his help due to a series of mishaps at the brewery he owns and Ross can’t say no. From the first time Ross meets Elisa, he finds himself drawn to her. He then quickly finds his advances rejected. Ross, however, is falling fast and hard. Will he be able to convince Elisa to take a chance and trust him with her heart?

When reading this book I found myself getting an education on breweries and the way they are run. I found it just as interesting as the love story that unfolds. This is the first book that I have read by the author and find that I enjoy her writing style and the characters that she creates. Most of them are friends and co-workers. When I first read about Ross’s character I wasn’t sure what to think of him. He is in a very unusual situation in his personal life and just doesn’t know how to cope. Instead of facing the issues he runs which while helps in the short term doesn’t solve anything. Even though he leaves he does respond and returns when a series of events happen and his help is requested by Austin. Ross finds his world changing when he meets Elisa, who is hired as assistant brewer. He has a lot to overcome as Elisa rejects him. He is determined to find out the reasons why and pursue a relationship with her. What will Ross find out about Elisa? Will he be able to convince her that he is worth taking a chance on?

Elisa is a woman that doesn’t stay in one place for long. Her past prevents this. She is excited to start her new job as an assistant brewer. Then situations happen and Ross is called in to help. Elisa will not get involved in any relationship and you begin to realize that it has to do with the secrets that she is keeping. I like Elisa and that way that she will always help others. It is sad to read of how she feels about herself. Ross, however, is not backing down. He continues to pursue Elisa and she finds herself giving him a glimpse into her past. He is pulling down her defenses just a little bit. Then a situation arises that pulls Elisa’s past to the forefront. Will Elisa lean on Ross for support or will she push him away? Read this book to find out if Ross and Elisa get their HEA. This story does include subjects that some may find sensitive as well as adult language and adult situations. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.

Lightstruck: (A Contemporary Romance Novel) (Brewing Passion Book 2) by Liz Crowe

5 Stars

Let me start by saying this is my first book by this author. I did not read the 1st in this series before I picked this one up and that was ok, although I will read it I didn't need to. The author put enough back story on these characters throughout that I never felt lost. As I said though I will definitely be reading the first and the next in this series asap.

Ross Hoffman left town the day that his best friend, Austin and the love of his life, Evelyn were to be married. He just didn't see the three of them working out although they had made room in their lives for him, even though Evelyn was carrying his daughter he felt it better that Austin raised her. There was no way he could share Evelyn with anyone, even his best friend. Ross moves to Colorado where he gets a job at another brewery. He is determined to put Evelyn out of his mind so lives his life with as many women in and out of his bed and some even at the same time. He's not proud of his lifestyle but it is what it is and since there's no one to replace Evelyn in his heart this is how it has to be. When Austin calls and needs his help with some problems at his brewery, Ross drops everything to go help his best friend.

Elisa “Elle” Nagel, hired by Evelyn to be assistant brewer. During the interview an emergency arises that has Elisa coming to the aid of Evelyn and her daughter, causing a friendship to rise up between the two. Problem is Elisa is hiding from her past and she does not make friends or any type of connections and hasn't for almost 10 years. She has an exotic look about her..facial jewelry, tattoos everywhere, and crazy hair and she's haunted daily by her past.

When Ross returns to help out at Fitzgerald Brewery and meets Elisa for the first time, he is taken with her immediately, why he doesn't know because she is nothing like the women he is normally attracted to. Their working relationship is full of bantering yet they are very equal on their knowledge as brewers. He can't explain what it is that that draws him to her but he starts falling fast and hard for her. He realizes because of this that he has finally been able to let go of his feelings for Evelyn, but Elisa has secrets that he is determined to learn. He sets out on a mission to make her trust him and win her heart.

When circumstances bring her past to town will Elisa run yet again, or will she trust Ross and be able to have the normal life she wants so badly?

This story kept me hooked from the first page, the twists and turns throughout were amazing and I literally could not put my kindle down till I finished it!! I think I even held my breath through some of it.. it was awesome!! There's not one thing I didn't like..her writing style, her characters, the secondary characters whom I fell just as much in love with as they main. I absolutely loved this book, I can't say anything more than that.

LIGHTSTRUCK book two Brewing Passion Series written by Liz Crowe
4 stars

This is the second book in the series and it may be read on its own. I feel you will get so much more out of Lightstruck it you read Tapped first. Tapped will introduce you to most of the players in the series and you will learn their history and connection.

This book has a completely different vibe than Tapped. It still has the friendships, complicated relationships, humor and sexiness yet it has a very dark serious twist to it as well. Liz takes a situation that many woman struggle with and shows you many points of views to it. The victim trying to be the survivor, the friends and potential lover trying to gain their trust and the tormentor. You watch the struggling survivor try to feel worthy of moving on, accepting their self and the help and comfort of others. You witness the betrayal and lies of the hunter.

Elisa aka Elle has learned to keep her head down do her job and go back to her quiet home. Elle knows each city she lands in is temporary. She doesn't know when her past will catch up with her and she will have to flee again. It's not a matter of if, but when. She knows The Monster is looking for her and He will find her eventually. She can't get close to others and jeopardize putting them in danger when He comes for her. She gave up her dream jobs to keep hidden and is finally at a place she loves, doing what she loves and could see herself becoming friends with her coworkers.

You can feel what Elle is going through. Constantly being on alert and keeping your distance, but yearning to be part of the family the coworkers are trying to include her in. Not wanting to share your dark secrets yet wanting nothing more than to share your burden and feel comforted for just a moment. Her struggle, fear, strength and determination will keep you holding your breath and praying she can escape Him and finally get a chance at happiness that has been stolen from her for the past eleven years.

“She realized that The Monster had won. Even though she’d escaped him physically and geographically, He’d made His mark. Left His scar.”

Both Elle and Ross have something in common. They are both running from their past and do not feel they are worthy of happiness and love. They both listen to the ugly voices in their head. They both pour their passion in their jobs. All that changes for Ross the day he sees Elle. Once he lays eyes on her he knows Elle has a dark past and secrets and he wants to knock down her walls and gain her trust.

““Go,” she said, her voice stronger now. “Leave me alone. I won’t do this. I can’t. You… You have to leave me alone.” She dropped her face into her hands, willing him gone. Willing him to stay.”

Lightstruck is the second book in the Brewing Passion Series by Liz Crowe. It is a two part series, so you do need to read the first book Tapped before reading this one. It’s told in alternating point of view between the two main characters, Ross and Elisa. There are many well written side characters involved in the story line as well.

“We-the three of us-would never work in the real world.”

Ross Hoffman has loved once and doesn’t think he can ever love again. It wasn’t a simple love either…he was involved with a three way relationship. Realizing he needed more, he had to get out. When he steps in to help his best friend Austin with his brewery during a time of need, he is entranced by the petite blonde assistant brewer. Between her funky hair, accent, and tattoos, she has an edge of mysteriousness to her. Although she’s the total opposite of his first love, and his type, he can’t help but become all consumed with her.

Elisa Nagel was born in Munich, Germany, but has been running from the monster in her past for years. She’s never told anyone the whole story of her past and why she is in the United States working as an assistant brewer at The Fitzgerald Brewing Company.

“I am not for you, Ross Hoffman. I am not for anyone.”

As much as Elisa is attracted to the blue eyed man, she is very upfront from the beginning that she does not date and has completely sworn men off. But, Ross is a determined man and wants to prove to her that she can trust him.

“I have a difficult time…trusting people. I’ve been betrayed too many times.”

You can only run from your past for so long. What happens when Elisa’s comes back to haunt her?

Can Ross accept her former life when he finds out what it is? Will he betray her like she thinks will happen?

“I trusted you with the most intimate details of my life. And you…you blabbed them around like some kind of a cheap gossip rag reporter.”

I honestly wasn’t sure how Crowe was going to end this novel. There were times I thought she was going to break my heart with her writing. However, I am very happy with the ending! This book does contain some darker subject matter when dealing with Elisa’s past, so if you’re not ok with reading that, then this is not the book for you. However, I highly recommend Lightstruck if you like contemporary romance novels with a happily ever after.

Book 2 in the Brewing Passions series. This book is very much a sequel to book 1, Tapped. For that reason, I highly recommend you read the brilliant Tapped before starting this one as it will give you lots of background on the characters.

Ross Hoffman no longer wants to be a third wheel. Having been introduced as the third in his best friends Austin Fitzgerald’s relationship with Evelyn, it is now becoming more difficult to share. It’s hard but he knows he needs to walk away, even if his heart is fighting it. So doing what he does best, he flees and throws himself back into his first love of beer brewing away from the only person he has ever loved. But when his best friend calls, he has to return. Little does he know that this may lead him to a new love along the way.

Elisa Nagel is the new assistant brewer for the Fitzgerald’s. She is everything that Ross doesn’t usually like but is unable to stay away. Despite her spirited love of life, it is clear that life has broken her and that she hides many secrets. Can Ross mend her? And in doing so can he mend himself and find a love he never expected?

Liz Crowe has created a great sequel to Tapped. This book is very different and certainly covers much darker subject matters, but as you expect from this author, it is also full of humour, steam and real life situations.

I really loved Ross in this book, even though at times I could have punched him. We get to see a lot more of him and he is much deeper and is worth so much more than being a couples third, that’s for sure. Elisa, well she was certainly a colourful character in more ways than one. She hides her pain behind humour and sass and doesn’t trust easily. I liked her for Ross. He needed to have someone completely different to Evelyn and someone them that only wants him; he gets that with Elise.

So another great story from an author that always puts her unique twists on romance. Always well thought out storylines and characters with lots of depth to both. I now look forward to what may come in the future with secondary characters, she has certainly laid the foundations for stories to come.

If you are looking for something a little different, that embodies the term Real-life Romance. This series, indeed this author is a must read!

Title: Lightstruck (Brewing Passion Book 2)
Author: Liz Crowe
Stars:5

Liz Crowe’s Lightstruck is the second book in her Brewing Passion series.  This is Ross’s story, and it has not been an easy one.  His struggles with his relationships is continuous, but meeting Elle may be the thing that changes that for him.

Ross Hoffman walked away from his best friend and gave up the love of his life, and basically given up on anything to do with love. Ross struggled with that decision greatly, so to avoid thinking about it he buried himself in work and meaningless affairs.   He had not thought about going back around them until something happened  and Austin needed his help.  He struggled being around Austin and Evelyn.  That is until he met Elle Nagel.  Something about her awakens something that he thought was buried and gone.  Can he let go of his past and trust in love again?  Can he get over Elle’s secrets?  Can knowing exactly what Ross doesn’t want , be truly what he needs?

Elle Nagel is always on the move, never staying in one place long.  Fears and her past disable her to put down roots, which causes her to not form any real relationships of any kind.  Especially when she is constantly looking over her shoulder, and running from a past she hopes doesn’t catch up with her.  When she finally gets to a place where she loves her job and the people around her, she wonders if she can really let people into her life.  After eleven years can she really reveal her secrets?  Can she really have the “family” she craves?  Can she let down all her defenses to a man?  Can Ross be that man?

I read the first book in this series, Tapped, and fell in love with Liz Crowe’s writing.  She didn’t  disappoint me in this one either.  They way the characters, and relationships between them, are written just draws you in until you finish the book.  It was hard to put down my kindle.  The added intrigue made me stay up late at night just to see what happened.  I can’t wait to see what the next book will be like.

Lightstruck Book 2 in The Brewing Passion Series by Liz Crowe – 4 stars

“Lightstruck is a brewing term that means an “off flavor” that occurs when finished beer is exposed to either sunlight or artificial light.” “It is interesting to note that some beer brands have accepted this flavor as part of their profile and it is seen as a positive attribute”. I believe the title reflects the tone of this book perfectly. Sometimes “off flavor” is the perfect flavor for a relationship.

The Brewing Passion series has some fantastic characters who follow an intriguing story line. Book 2 is a little “darker” than the first book and is just as enjoyable. It is my opinion that Tapped (Book 1 in the Brewing Passion series) should be read first. I think that it might be a little confusing if you haven’t read the groundwork for the relationship between Ross, Evelyn and Austin. Lightstruck picks up where Tapped left off.

This is the deeper look into what makes Ross Hoffman tick. Why he ran away from the love of his life and why he feels like he has to stay away. Elisa (Elle) Nagel is also from Germany and although they speak with different regional accents (hers is snobbish Berlin and his more countrified Bavarian) they are able to sooth each other when they speak in their mother tongue. They are both brewers who have a passion and perhaps a dream and they are both fighting their own demons. I liked the fact that both Ross and Elisa are strong individuals who are willing to own their voice to be heard.

As someone who abstains from drinking alcohol, there were times that the description of the beer as brewed in the Fitzgerald Brewery had my mouth watering. I could almost smell the stout and IPA.

I very much enjoy this series.

“This book contains sexually explicit content which is only suitable for mature readers. This story has a heat rating of Totally Burning and Sexometer of 2”

Lightstruck is the second book in the Brewing Passions series by Liz Crowe and to fully understand the storyline I would highly recommend that book 1, Tapped, is read first. I have to completely honest when I say that I think I liked this book ever so slightly more than the first book and not because the first book wasn’t enjoyable because it was it’s just I liked Ross so I was looking forward to reading his story! We see Austin and Evelyn appear again in this book which was nice that you could follow the continuation of their story. There are possibly some triggers from some people in this book. The book also explores BDSM.
I actually really felt for Ross in the first book because he was clearly in love with Evelyn but her heart lay with Austin. I could feel his heart break when she chose Austin over him so when Elisa arrived in this book and didn’t let Ross walk all over her I knew he had met his match and hopefully would be able to get over Evelyn once and for all. He was still his sarcastic, arrogant, sexy self in this book – which was great because those are all the reason why I liked him!
I really liked Eliza but just knew there was a story there and unfortunately wasn’t going to be the best. She pushed Ross away at every opportunity but she was just trying to protect herself and him to some extent. She quickly found a friend in Evelyn which was nice to read about and that she had someone to talk to about her past. I really felt for Eliza as her past was slowly revealed and that ending – oh my gosh even I was in tears! Loved it!
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far, it’s different and refreshing to read. Whilst not two of the easiest books to read as the characters’ lives are complex but I quickly found myself captivated by them and couldn’t stop reading! I am looking forward anymore books that may come in this series and certainly more by this author!

Ok, Let me start this review by saying First and foremost I LOVE EVERYTHING WRITTEN BY LIZ CROWE! I knew I would love this one too. I read the first one in this series, “Tapped”. It is where my love of these characters started. They return in this wild ride of brewing passion. Ross Hoffman feels he can no longer be the third wheel in his beloved love triangle. Between his best friend, Austin Fitzgerald and lady love, Evelyn. He is going to push past his wants, and do what he thinks he “needs”. Going on his own away from what his heart wants. He really wants his dynamic back but at the same time wants to be selfish with Evelyn. Forcing himself to move from his heart he leaps back into the brewing business. Thinking he is on the path, he is forced to be back with Austin and Evelyn. A lot of different things take place. One thing he is not expecting is to be struck with another chance at happiness. Elisa, “Elle” is the new assistant brewer for the Fitzgeralds. She is one spunky chick! I love her attitude. As we all know everyone has demons. She carries her demons with her on a daily basis. Thinking she is outrunning them she tries to do so by working. Seems Ross and Elle are destined. I LOVED THESE TWO! They brought a huge smile on my face while getting to know not just Elle but knowing them together. With Elle’s history I hope Ross can actually stick around for this one to make him happy. They say, love conquers all. I know I hope it does. This book can not be read as a standalone. PLEASE PLEASE read TAPPED first. You will get much needed character background! You will fall in love with these people as much as I have! You will also fall in love with Liz Crowe’s writing! Anticipating for more.

Lightstruck- Liz Crowe

5 Stars Review

Well Liz Crowe did it again, she wrote an absolutely incredible book! Lightstruck is book 2 in her Brewing Passion series. I really loved the first book –Tapped and I feel the same about this one. Ross was such an enigma and I fell more in love with him in this book. I feel like he got the worst end of the stick in Austin and Evelyn’s threesome and now he finally has his chance to be with the woman he loves. Ross honestly makes for the perfect book boyfriend. He’s described perfectly, manly, sexy, tall, tattooed, has an accent and loves all types of women. See? Perfect! As soon as I came across this book I immediately dove in, I had been waiting to get answers to my questions, and I finally got them! Just like the first book Liz makes it easy to be so captivated by the storyline. I couldn’t put it down!

Unlike the first book this one is from Ross and Elisa’s POV. Evelyn and Austin still make appearances in this one but it focuses more on Ross. We get to follow his story of getting over Evelyn and him falling in love with Elisa. She is nothing like the women he’s normally attracted too, she has piercings, tattoos, and dreadlocks, which make her perfect for him. He’s constantly surprised by his feelings towards her. She has had a less then perfect past and has been running from it for over a decade, until she finds a place she wants to stay forever.

I absolutely loved this story, it had the most perfect ending and I loved the epilogue!
This book will have you feeling so many emotions; it’s definitely one of my favorite series! It’s so different from your usual romance series and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for their next read regardless of genre. Well-done Liz!!

This is the second novel in the Brewing Passion series by this author and what a tale she brings to you. We have Ross Hoffman running away from his best friend Austin Fitzgerald and lady love Evelyn - who just happens to be carrying his child. Though they want to make things works, knowing that they are so devoted to each other Ross moves on. Ross can't get over the thought of sharing Evelyn with anyone else, leaving and getting hired on as brewmaster at another company to keep his emotions bottled up and away from seeing how happy they both are.
Fitzgerald Brewing needs an assist at critical time, things having been going on in the brewery and Austin asks Ross to come back and help them out. When Ross reluctantly comes back and sees the new manager , the tiny and exotic Elisa Nagel ; he doesn't know what to think or what to do. He is completely taken with her, especially since she can curse right back at him in his native German tongue.
Elisa comes with her own epically tragic past that she is still running from. Elisa doesn't trust easy and is on constant fight or flight mode. She loves and fights hard but can she get over her past enough to let Ross in and love her the way she should be? Can Ross help Elisa fight her Monster? Can these two bring the brewery back from the brink and find themselves at the same time?
Well written novel that can be read as a stand alone; you don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one. Although I would suggest you do, cause you don't know what you might be missing out on. This back throws some hard curves at you and it is amazing to see how it all unfolds and comes together. I give this book a 4 star rating.

“Lightstruck” by Liz Crowe is the second novel in the Brewing Passion series and continues the tumultuous relationship between Ross, Evelyn and Austin with a focus on Ross and the path that he has set himself on.

Ross Hoffman made the decision he thought was best and left his life, and the ones he loved, behind and started over. Burying himself in work and meaningless affairs, he was merely existing until he was called back home. Meeting Elisa (Elle) Nagel awakens something in Ross he thought was gone. Can he get past Elle secrets and convince her to give him a chance? Or will old wounds keep them apart?

The author did an excellent job of creating emotional, believable characters that carried the plot of the story instead of merely being in it. Some books you read and love, but the nuances quickly fade as you pick up another. Not so with this book – the characters stayed with me because I cared about what happened to them. Ross made decisions that weren’t always the best, but he felt it was the right thing to do. And Elle, without giving her story away, is a complex character that I fell in love with immediately. The way she was introduced was enough to keep me glued to my Kindle because I knew she wouldn’t be just a one-dimensional love interest.

I picked this book up without reading “Tapped” first, and I wasn’t lost at all. The author gives enough background (without overdoing it for those who follow the series) that I caught on quickly to the issues the characters were facing internally. If this will be your first book in the series, though, stop and read them in order to get the full experience of the story arc.

I am giving Lightstruck by Liz Crowe four fabulous stars. Liz Crowe is an amazing writer. Lightstruck is a wonderfully engaging story. The setting is vividly portrayed as are the characters.
The plot is extremely complex and I would highly recommend reading the first book in this series before reading Lightstruck. However, even if you don’t, you can catch up, catch on and get into the book quite quickly. Liz Crowe writes that well. She seems to have a real handle on what goes on in a brewery and how critical all the steps of brewing are. This is really helpful to those of us who don’t have that particular knowledge since a lot of the action actually goes on inside the brewery. It is a nice touch that Ms. Crowe goes into this process for the sake of those of us who would otherwise be completely lost. Her descriptions seem to be very accurate. They add great depth to Lightstruck.
Her research is completed by her usage of the German language throughout Lightstruck. The phrases she uses and the way she uses them add a unique flavor without being overly distracting. She is able to draw out the uniquely German aspects of her characters. This technique added depth to both Elle and Ross. It helped to cement the reality of their relationship. Both Elle and Ross being from Germany lent a very real feeling to their first meeting and every interaction after that.
Ms. Crowe has created a great world that is realistic and consistant. I had a great time reading this book. It was well written and well composed. Kudos to Liz Crowe for her wonderful story and creating such great characters.

The blurb intrigued me immediately for this book. Previously, I had not read this Author, but the blurb intrigued me immediately and I just had to read it. It didn't hurt that it was primarily set in my home state of Michigan either.

Crowe has a completely complex set of characters who are could have their own separate stories, but are intertwined in one. From the mile high city of Denver to the cities of Chicago and Grand Rapids, Crowe keeps the reader entertained with the exploits of Ross Hoffman's many bedroom playmates on his way to realizing his old love is just that, in the past.

The other reason I wanted to read this book was for the beer. I am of German descent after all. However, I did not discover a new beer to try via the book. Most of what was discussed was IPA's and personally I think it tastes like dog pee. Give me a hearty beer please and thank you.

This is a hearty read. Not for light readers as the content is heavy and sometimes the story seems to lag, but truly doesn't. Every side story is for a purpose and is needed to reach the end. The only thing I didn't like was that the actual end felt rushed. As if Crowe's characters were on a high note and rushed to the end. They weren't, there is actually a large passage of time which passes, but it felt that way to me. If it could have been done differently, I would have liked to have seen the transition of Elisa as she became more confident, her body grew with child and her fear of an early birth all culminating in the actual marriage.

Liz Crowe gives us another really good story with Lightstruck. She always excels at writing complex characters with a lot of personal issues. Ross isn’t Prince Charming and Elle is the local prom queen. Ross has things he needs to learn about himself and improve and Elle is haunted by a very dark past. That’s a large part of what I enjoy so much about Crowe’s books. So many romances are formulaic but hers are not.

Though Lightstruck can be read as a standalone, I think readers will benefit from reading Tapped first. The first third of Lighstruck deals more with the dynamic between Austin, Evelyn and Ross begun in the first book in the series. Ross has walked away from the other two at the worst possible time and his first visits back to see his daughter are horribly strained. We also meet Elle in this first section and Crowe really builds the suspense about just what has brought Elle to this point in her life and to Michigan. And if Elle’s past isn’t even drama, she throws in a whopper of a new twist (I’m not going to include that giant spoiler here).

This was all interesting but I was even more engrossed watching the relationship between Ross and Elle develop and watching them each deal with their pasts, feelings and problems.

Crowe remains a favorite of mine in large part because I know I can pick up any of her books and I’m in for a interesting, rock, gut-wrenching ride from the first page to the last. Lightstruck did not disappoint and was exactly what I’ve come to expect from Crowe in all the best ways.

Lightstruck by Liz Crowe is the continuing story of Austin Fitzgerald, his wife Evelyn, and his best friend Ross Hoffman. The threesome have a great relationship, in and out of bed, until Evelyn becomes pregnant with Ross’ baby. Instead of trying to figure out how to make it work, Ross flees and finds a good job across the country.
After a bunch of problems at their brewery, Austin and Evelyn need Ross’ help. Though he loves them both and would do anything that he can do to help, he is torn between facing the two people that he loves most in the world. Even with their new wonderful brewer, they still need Ross to make sure that they can catch up and get back on track.
The first time that Ross meets Elisa Nagel, he is awestruck! She has been working hard to get the brewery back on track and, though she wants his help, she is not sure how she feels about Ross. Though Elisa is not like any woman Ross has ever meant, he can’t stop thinking about her. She is also mesmerized by him, though she has sworn off men, as well as allowing herself to settle in one place and start a life.
Though I enjoyed the first book in the Brewing Passion series, I enjoyed Lightstruck even more. I must admit the threesome in the first book was a bit much so this book suited my tastes much better. I truly felt for Elisa. She has had a very rough life and is doing everything in her power to turn her life around. I just wish that she knew how strong she was and that she felt she could enjoy her life again! You will just love this book!

Lightstruck by Liz Crowe is the second book in her Brewing Passion series. I have been on tenterhooks since I finished the first book as I really really felt that there must be something more, Ross needs to have his own story! AND Liz delivered! Absolutely read the first book before even coming close to Lightstruck! You will regret it till the end of your reading days if you do not!
Lightstruck is the story of Ross Hoffman and Elisa Nagel. Ross has decided to walk away from his relationship with Austin and Evelyn though his heart is fighting it … He goes back to what he is doing the best, to his first love – beer brewing. He runs all the way to Colorado leaving Michigan in his rear-view mirror! Elisa has been running for a long time and she has gotten a job at Austin and Evelyn’s brewery as an assistant brewer. She has amazing capacity and knowledge but it is clear that something very very bad has happened in her life and she seems broken beyond repair.
Tragic strikes and Ross is needed and he returns to Fitzgerald’s. He never even imagined that this step would lead to something that would end changing the course of his life! The writer takes us on a rollercoaster of darker subject matters and she breaks your heart and then installs hope for humanity at the same time! It is an incredible love story with complex characters! She has some great supporting characters that I hope she will give their own story!

Lightstruck by Liz Crowe is the second book in the Brewing Passion series. I had not read the first book but was still able to enjoy this book. I would recommend to read the first book because this picked up where the first left off with the relationship between Ross, Evelyn, and Austin. This is something that I will go back and read the first book to get a better understanding of this tumultuous relationship. Ross has quit his job and moved to another city to start over his life. He works for a brewery and starts a constant stream of one-night stands.
Austin asks him to help with Fitzgerald Brewery and some issues they are having there. While helping he runs into Elle. She is like a petite angel to him. She also comes with a complicated past that she is running away from. Ross is coming off a less than stellar ending to his relationship with Evelyn and Austin. Can the two of them open up to each other to find a better ending?
The characters are interesting and the story drew me in. I am always interested in something that people have a passion in doing. The characters all love crafting and selling their prized beers. I enjoyed that the characters all have passion in what they do as well in the people they care for in their lives. Realistic characters with flaws are nice in so many stories where everyone is perfect. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and more from this author.

Very disappointing continuation of the Brewing Passion series. TAPPED ended with the reader expecting Austin, Evelyn, Ross & Ross’ daughter to work on living together as a threesome.
Ross claims to love his best friend Austin. Ross claims to love Evelyn. Ross claims to love his daughter. And yet Ross turns his back on all of them and moves to Colorado.

I like Ross in TAPPED. In LIGHTSTRUCK Ross is disappointing.

Ross wants Elisa to trust him and confide in him when the three people closest to him have been disappointed by him time and time again. Ridiculous.
I very much liked Elisa. She is a survivor who managed to overcome crippling emotional and physical abuse.
At the very end Ross ‘saves the day’ but by then I had stopped caring about him and only cared about Elisa’s happiness and the happiness of the other characters.

Read LIGHTSTRUCK if you have Not read TAPPED. If you read TAPPED then don’t read this book because it takes Ross in the opposite direction from the ending in TAPPED; which will keep you worrying when Ross is going to fail Elisa the way he has failed the people he claimed to love in the first book.

It all gets tied together in a neat little bow near the end but it’s still disappointing. I know I would have liked this book if I had not already read the first book in the series which leads the reader to have expectations that the three main characters will stay/live together and work it out.

2 1/2 stars from me.

Lightstruck by Liz Crow
Four Stars

Lightstruck: A Contemporary Romance Novel is book two in the Brewing Passion Series by Liz Crowe. This is the first series I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book can be read as a stand alone, but it would be better if you read Tapped first so you have the backstory. The character descriptions are well defined and the story complex and very interesting. The author takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, laughing, crying, angry and happy. The story had me hooked from the very first page.

Ross Hoffman is a man on the run. He found himself in love with Evelyn and Austin (his best friend) but just couldn't handle the anxiety that comes with living in a threesome. So he takes off to Colorado to start over, searching for a new life. Life is a struggle and Austin ask him to back and help him with the brewery they started. Ross goes back to help, and that is when he meets Elisa. Eliza is an apprentice brewer and she catches Ross’s eye at their very first meeting. It is love at first sight for him, but can he get Elisa to agree. Eliza has secrets and trust issues, but she feels an attraction to Ross instantly. Will they be able to get beyond their past?

This book is a fun emotional read, and I can't wait to see what Liz Crowehas in store for us next. Highly recommended!

Lightstruck by Liz Crowe is the second book in the Brewing Passion Series and it's absolutely amazing! I would definitely recommend reading the first book before starting this one, just because it picks up right where the first one leaves off. I love that we get to see more of Evelyn, Austin and Ross, and seeing how their lives have changed. This was another amazing 5 star read.

Ross Hoffman has everything he could ever want, he's got Evelyn, their baby and her husband, who just happens to be his best friend. Since their relationship is so different than what's considered normal, and he worries that their relationship won't be considered normal, he leaves. He takes a job out in Colorado and looks for another to distract him. When Austin calls and tells him that he needs him at the brewery, he meets Ellsa. She's everything he doesn't want in a woman, or at least that's what he thinks. He can't seem to stay away from her and the more he's around her, the more he wants to know. But what happens when her secrets come out? Can he handle it? Can Ellsa even trust him with her heart?

This was a great addition to the series! Liz Crowe was able to explore a different style of relationships in the series, and created an amazing love story. I absolutely loved it! I'd recommend this book to everyone.

Lightstruck
Liz Crowe
4 stars

Lightstruck is book 2 in the brewing passion series. I seriously hope this isn't the last of these character's, they are perfectly written and in depth and all have that one piece of themselves their not ready to share with other people.
Ross walked away from his three way relationship with Evelyn and Austin after he realised that it wasn't going to work, especially since Evelyn was carry Ross child but being legally married to Austin was always going to cause some issues. Then the unthinkable happens, Ross gets the call from Austin and he needs to return home and that's where he meets Elisa who is the complete opposite to Ross.
Elisa is Austin assistant, and the saying goes opposite attract, Elisa has some hidden secrets and hides her painful past well. She put on a strong front but sometimes is always looking over her shoulder, Elisa is such a strong independent female character which I love in a novel. The connection is strong and can't be denied between them both. New relationships are formed even between Ross, Evelyn and Austin. There's definitely drama, passion, redemption and lots love in this book.
Liz has an amazing read here and if you've not read the first book Tapped I'd suggest you read that first before starting lightstruck. I look forward to more from Liz in future.
